Assalamu alaikum,
I apologize if I seem to get into this conversation out of nowhere. I was actually reading the whole time, I just decided not to post then.
Anyway, here's what I can tell you askhans, it all really depends on what kind of atmosphere you feel the most comfortable in. As long as you're not forcing yourself into living in a certain place, then I guess you should be doing fine. However, just my little note, each place always has both good and bad sides. For example, in living in the US, you have more opportunities (usually...more than certain countries), but you're rarely living around Muslims (depends on which area). In a Muslim country, you get to be around people who are all Muslim. Now you could view that as a good thing, and it is, in terms of the fact that you all technically have the same beliefs. However, you have to understand, just because a country is mostly comprised of Muslims, does not always necessarily make it a 'good' or 'perfect' place for Muslims. What I mean is, now that you're living around Muslims (hypothetically speaking) you'll meet MANY different kinds of Muslims. Some who are nice, some who are not as nice, some who really know Islam well, others that don't, some who abuse what Islam is saying, some who extremely benevolent, etc... so you just have to watch out for these things. Otherwise, if you think you could be happy living in Pakistan, then go for it. 3nodding
Personally, for me, I've lived in both a Muslim country (actually two: Saudi Arabia and Jordan) and a non-Muslim country (America, which I'm currently in). I've learned that for me to be happy, I don't have to live around Muslims. It's a possibility, but to me, it's not a priority, but it could be for others. All I'm saying is, I could live with Muslims, and I could also not live with Muslims. Either way, that's not the issue for me, it's the place, atmosphere, and people (whether they're nice, understanding, open-minded, etc...). That's just me, and basically, I sort of have an idea on what kind of country, or place, I'll want to be live in and spend the rest of my life in (all I know is that I'm planning for it not to be America, and perhaps, not the Middle East. It's all still in the process of planning though).
