Asher was unable to keep the irony out of his expression, though his tone was deceptively mild. "Somehow I doubt we share the same hobbies, Mull." And many of them would not be healthy for Mull to pursue right now, whether they were common interests or not. "I believe that is a good idea. Talking can become tiresome but perhaps it is simply because neither one of us is used to it." And if that did not work out, they could always fall back on other activities. But for now, there certainly were things about Mull that Asher was curious about, and no doubt the feeling was reciprocated.

Mull gives a short bark of laughter at the first portion of Asher's statement, then tilts his head once again, motioning to the living room, which would no doubt be a more comfortable place to talk than the hallway. "Well, I'm not used to talking about myself, so, you'll kinda have to just straight out ask me what you wanna know. I'll answer to the best of my ability."

"Hmn." Asher considered conversation possibilities as they made their way to the living room. It was indeed preferable to sit in here, unless Mull enjoyed leaning against the wall. He silently and comfortably seated himself in a chair; if one did not know any better they may have assumed he owned it.
"I suppose... for now I would like you to describe what you know of vampires, based on your own experiences. You have mentioned them on occasion. I wish to understand any assumptions you might have. It may be helpful for both of us." If Mull had known just one or two particularly vicious vampires, one of which nearly ripping out his throat, that must be drastically different life experience from an anthro whom had known only the vampires of the Nullspace. This one vampire Mull had mentioned before... well, surely he must know that vampires weren't all about sex and violence, though there would always a little of that in any circle, vampire or not.
"Of course," he continued quietly, "you are equally free to ask anything you would like to know." Asher could not promise that he would be able to answer with any detail, but the same could fairly be said of Mull.

Mull seats himself on the couch, throwing his arms up over the back of it and reclining slightly. He thinks for a moment before answering Asher's question. "Most of what I know, I guess you could say, came from books. And I know most of what is written is most likely made up or doesn't apply to vampires in today's society. The encounters I've had with vampires before I met you and Shido had sort of confirmed some of what I've read, but then, you two act completely different from them. I'm assuming it's because you've lived alot longer than the others, and have more control over your cravings, but, it could also just be your personalities. I honestly don't know. I've read that the older a vampire is, the less likely they are to burst into flames when sunlight touches them. I highly doubt that's true, and frankly, I haven't been curious to test it out, although my other side has been." He tilts his head again, glancing over at Asher. "Did you have anything in particular you wanted to discuss with me, or perhaps I should say, the other me?"

Asher smirked. His other side was curious, was he? What did he wish to do, throw one of them outside at midday and watch him burn? The coon might not be surprised to find the answer was 'yes.' "I do not mind explaining to you, whomever chooses to listen, that a vampire's abilities and weaknesses vary greatly, not just due to age but their bloodline as well." He was not about to list off the abilities possessed by Shido or himself. That was potential suicide. "As for how we act... I do not know what you mean, so I cannot speculate." He gestured vaguely toward Mull. "I am curious about your other side's opinion on any number of things, as well as what he might ask of me, but I do not wish for you to bring him out if you cannot restrain him. Any questions we have for one another can wait until a later date, if needed."

Mull nods slightly, then sighs. "Well, in all honesty, I don't have too many questions that wouldn't be deemed extremely personal, so, I'll explain what I meant about how you and Shido act. You two don't stare at others like they're nothing more than a walking blood bag. I mean, I'm sure the sight of blood does bring up urges, but you two don't act on them like the others I've met have. You two give off the vibe that life is slightly more precious to you than that. And as for my other self, well, I honestly can't guarantee I'd be able to control him at all if he got control, and his questions would be more focused on pain, blood, violence, and sex. And he has wanted to throw a vampire out into the sunlight and see if they burn. It's been one of his life goals." Mull felt it best that he warn Asher about his other sides darker passions before there came a time when he wouldn't be able to restrain his other side.

The vampire's pale eyes widened briefly and he leaned subtly forward, toward Mull. "Perhaps it is simply that Shido and I are well-fed?" Deadpan was probably the only form of joke one could expect from Asher, unless one takes sarcasm with the rest. He had plenty of that. Straightening again, he closed his eyes slowly. "I could be wrong about this, but I believe it is likely that we come from different... social circles... than the vampires you are used to. Except for very young vampires perhaps, it is easier to contain one's urges. We like to have a good time but we are not stupid enough to go on a rampage through the streets." Self-preservation and self-respect were a big part of it, but also savoring one's enjoyment. His eyes glittered subtly as he glanced back at Mull. He was amused to think of what his personal questions might be, but that probably should wait until another time. They were attempting to be friends before anything else.
The hybrid's other side might make that difficult however. What vampire who was sensitive to the sun would not be terrified of being thrown outside? No one could possibly know what, if anything, he might be able to do protect himself while asleep. Some were completely paralyzed and incapable of movement, and there were those who thought they were before instinct took over. It was impossible to know until something unthinkable happened. He smiled thinly at Mull. "Too bad he missed that chance earlier today, non?"

Mull chuckles slightly at Asher's first statement, shaking his head slightly before focusing on the others next words. "That could be. Like I said, though, you and Shido are the only ones I've met so far that haven't eyed me like that. I get the feeling that Shido doesn't like being what he is, but he can't help it. I think he honestly does value a mortal's life very much. And I'm sure you've had quite a few things happen in your own life to make you the way you are." Listening to the statement about his other side, he could only nod slightly at first. "Yeah... Although that particular door only locks from the inside, and it's heavy steel. The coffin itself has locks on the inside for extra protection and it's made thicker than a standard coffin. I had it made like that specifically in case there were any visitors of vampiric persuasion that I actually invited in. Not for my safety, but for theirs. The normal guest rooms also have thick heavy doors that only lock on the inside. There's no way to unlock either the basement door or the guest bedroom doors from the outside."

Ah, we might have, if your situation was not so delicate, Mull. Asher for one had been very careful with Mull, though obviously they had still had rocky times already.
"Your observation of Shido is astute. He is one of the few vampires you will ever meet who always told his master 'no,' even in the end." Though it could be said that many gave in when they were turned, it is not the same as actively accepting it either. But, as far as Asher understood, Shido had firmly denied Cain. Perhaps in that respect he was one of the most tragic of vampires.
Asher had noticed some of the fortifications Mull now mentioned, especially in the room he had used today. It stood to reason that any guest Mull should want to keep alive would need such protection. Nevertheless, no place felt as safe as home for a vampire escaping the rays of the sun. "How lonely it must feel for you to require such precautions for your guests." There was no irony in his voice this time.

Mull blinks slightly at Asher's words, a hint of sadness in his eyes before he shakes his head and shrugs. "Well, with a darker side like mine, I can't really afford to have very many friends that can get hurt. You've met Zelgadis. He's got super hard stone skin that only magic and a red head that he used to travel with can hurt. Since neither I nor Mull can use magic, he's obviously safe enough to be around us, although he normally only comes by to go through my library again. Even after all these years and with him having a mate that loves him the way he is, he still wants to banish the spell his grandfather cast on him. For some strange reason, he thinks the cure is buried in one of my books." He shrugs again, leaning against the couch again before glancing at Asher once more. "I agree that Shido's story does make him the most tragic of vampires, but at least he doesn't let it corrupt him. He enjoys helping people, at least, that's what it seems to me. You seem more like the private type, from the little I've observed. I'm going to assume that the reason you hide yourself in shadows is because you're afraid people will be repulsed by your scars? Not everyone values looks above personality. I may not be as scarred as you, but the scars you bear don't repulse me. It's just one more thing that makes me curious about your own past. Those must have been very dark times for you." He says, squashing down the little voice in his head that was wanting to make itself known. 'Shut the ******** up. I don't need you anymore. Never have. I'm tired of you making my life hell.' He had squeezed his eyes shut during that little inner rant to his darker self, his hands going up to his head as his other side tried to force his way to the forefront.

Asher nodded. Not just anyone would be able to withstand a physical attack from Mull, nor even begin to deal with his problems. In fact, should anyone who cared about him be attacked by Mull, it would be likelier that they would sustain even more damage because they did not want to harm him in return.
His eyes narrowed briefly. So Mull could not perform magic, but he could read minds? Or had he accidentally sent some message to him about Shido? Either way, Mull had made the right assumptions about the unicorn. Likely also that his darker side had come to some similar conclusion -- or was listening in right now and considering this aspect of his personality as some sort of weakness. His propensity for doing the good deed could easily be turned against him.
Almost lost in thought over this, as well as his own past when Mull brought it up a moment later, he almost missed the inner struggle playing across the hybrid's features. He still had not decided when, or how, to discuss his past to Mull. How could he explain the significance of his scars to one who often purposefully scarred his own body? It was not just about his appearance, though there was indeed some weight to that. How could it not be important for one who had been chosen by his master for his physical beauty alone?
Asher watched without expression. He thought he knew exactly what was going on with Mull, but there was nothing he could do about it -- at least to his knowledge -- except watch.

Mull, one hand staying on his head, drops his other hand to the knife he carried everywhere with him. Eyes still squeezed shut as he fights to keep his darker side locked away still, he fumbles the knife free and grips the handle tightly before pulling it out of its sheath and dragging it rapidly across his stomach and chest, going diagonal from his stomach, the line ended up on his left shoulder, the blade biting deeply into his shoulder before he rips the blade up and drops it on the couch beside him, sort of slumping now, ignoring the blood flowing on him. "I think.... he won't try to come out again for awhile.... But I can't be sure..." He said, heaving a shuddering sigh and staying where he had slumped.

The taste of Mull's blood suddenly came to mind at the sight of it oozing from the wounds slashed across the hybrid's torso. He remembered the time he had impulsively sliced Mull's jawline.
Now standing at Mull's feet, he asked, "You think this will satisfy him?" It seemed strange that the darker, sadistic half would find satisfaction in the masochist's physical pain.
Asher had half a mind to drag him to his feet as he lightly took hold of the hybrid's wrist. Instead he picked him up off the couch and carefully carried him from the room.

Mull blinks slightly, wondering why exactly he was no longer on the couch until he felt himself in the vampire's arms. "I don't know... It used to work for a few days when I was younger, but now, I just don't know... Usually either dishing out pain or receiving it would help keep him in check, keep him from coming out and actually hurting anyone, but I can't predict what does and doesn't work anymore." He frowns slightly, ears flat against his head. "I think that, more than anything, is what scares the s**t out of me... That's why I want to see if there's anything that can be done to either seal him up to where he can't harm anyone, or die trying..."

Asher withheld comment for a moment, mirroring Mull's light frown. He did not need to say that he hoped it was working. He had known about this process since he had known Mull, but if anything, he did not like that the hybrid must injure himself just to keep his other self quiet.
The answer to Mull's unspoken question came when Asher set him down in the middle of the bathroom. Probably before that actually, if Mull had been watching where they were going. Of course for the vampire, the idea of using a wash rag and towels to clean up the blood was a little awkward. But at the time, Mull had not seemed in any condition to pick himself up and go take care of his wounds. "You should probably get that cleaned up, non?"
He stepped out of the way to lean against the door with his arms crossed over his chest. "As far as getting you separated, I can arrange a meeting as soon as you are ready. I think that even if he is not prepared to start right away, it will still benefit both of you to speak with one another." However, and he did not say this, if Mull wanted his other self sealed away, as he put it, as in sealed within an object, it was possible that Shelby could do nothing for him. That would fall into Amrit's realm of expertise and he was dangerous to have as friend or foe. Perhaps... they should all meet at the same time. With reinforcements.
