^ Or waited until he had had more singing lessons and re-dubbed the songs. Or simply dubbed them with a professional singer too start with.

PhantomoftheFox ^ Or waited until he had had more singing lessons and re-dubbed the songs. Or simply dubbed them with a professional singer too start with. Not possible. JS made a deal with ALW that the cast would be very young if they would do their own singing. Not a good choice on their part.

Gerard Butler didn't do a good job as the Phantom, I'm sorry, but that's my opinion. I am more of a broadway phan of PTO than book, but compared to both I didn't like Gerard Butler. He wasn't old enough, and didn't have the voice for it.

Pardon for the rant following, I recently joined and haven't gotten a chance to post this anywhere. XD; I think what they wanted in the 2004 film was a young, more mainstream look/sound, and they got that with Emmy and Gerard. They wanted to introduce people to Phantom, and that they did. They changed some lines to be spoken for people that don't like opera/musicals much. They changed the storyline a little bit, and all of it was to make it more watchable to the average viewer. I think they accomplished their goal. However, I don't prefer that sound anymore. I don't like Emmy's voice as much, because it's too.. smooth. I don't think Gerard can sing in tune very well. I much prefer Sarah over Emmy, and Micheal over Gerard. I think it was a decent introduction for future phans/fans, and that they did as good as they could with the set, materials, and resources they had. That's just my opinion though ._.; Please bear in mind that it's about two in the morning here and I could be out of my mind. :]
And also, I think my biggest problem is people that think that the movie and the show are the only story. It was all based off of something else, and there's so many versions... ALW's isn't the only one.

Number 5 bothers me. I read the book before there even was the new movie. People who ask if there's a book are just STUPID

Also, for #3, people who think Raoul sings better than Erik are most likely drunk, deaf, or cheerleaders

Well, that basically depends on the Raoul and the Erik in the show. But everyone has their opinions.
Another thing that irks me is when people IN the phandom make fun of phans for arguing over certain things and calling it ridiculous to argue over fiction. I'd like to know what fanbase doesn't, really. We know we're silly. They're just sillier for pointing out the obvious.

I don't like it when people who consider themselves phans don't even know Erik's name.
That's my one-question Are-you-really-as-much-a-phan-as-you-think-you-are quiz. I just ask "What's the Phantom's name?"

DreadPirateRampant Number 5 bothers me. I read the book before there even was the new movie. People who ask if there's a book are just STUPID Nah, if they ask if there is a book then I say yes. If they are fairly new fans then you want to show them the actual text of the story. I just told this older man today at work who saw the Lon Chaney movie a couple times and loved it (before this conversation we chatted for a while about Gerard and crap... that was back when I thought he was a good phantom before I heard Hugh. Need to tell him! XD) that there was a book and he said he was going to buy it and asked me for his name and how to spell it. XD It's good to help. Just people who bash the book and say Erik's hot drives me insane. xp

Phantom Phan 4ever 3. People that say he can't sing. Well, if they only saw the movie verison then yeah they would say that. 3nodding I don't mean to bash Gerard because I do love his voice, but not for Phantom... If they heard people like Panaro, Crawford, Mauer, etc. then they probably would say differently or even if they read the book their opinions would be probably change.
