Ahren was quite ready for his turn to meet his great-grandmother, and he smiled and held out one hand to her.
"Hello, Ninako," he said softly, his grown voice deep and rich. "It's nice to finally meet you."
Atalya laughed. "All these years and meeting only now ... don't use such formalities, Ahren." She threw her arms around him and hugged him just as tightly as she had hugged everyone else. "I'm so glad that you've all finally made it," she smiled warmly.
Ahren's ears burned red with embarrassment, but he smiled and put his hands gently on her back.
Arahad nodded at Feng. "That's good," he affirmed. "Mama says that all daddies have to know how to say that and when to use it."

Now Feng really had to giggle, he was so serious about it. It was so... well cute!
"Then you're doing a good job knowing that early," she told him.
Yet she couldn't help but look at Haradhel with smiling eyes, she really wanted to burst out laughing.

Haradhel grinned right back at Feng. She was enjoying this as well, to be honest.
But then it was her turn for a hug, and she was even more awkward than her son had been. After all, she had trained to serve the queen ... not become her granddaughter-in-law.
And then once Atalya was finished with Haradhel, there was only one person left.
"Nako," Haradhel smiled softly, putting one hand on her younger son's shoulder, "this is Arahad, our youngest."
Arahad looked up at the queen, then grinned at Feng. "She looks friendly like you do!" he said brightly.

"She is! She is!" Naida was the one to repy this time, she liked Atalya a lot, but there were very few people she didn't like if at all.
Feng grinned at her daughter before nodding at Arahad, "She is very friendly, and is probably looking for a hug," she hinted.
At least he wasn't shy, most kids she thought were shy at that age, not that she could ever recall being shy at his physcial age, but that was what she was told when she had gone for parenting advice.

Atalya laughed and knelt next to Arahad so that she was his height. "Feng is exactly right," she said with a girlish giggle. "I am indeed looking for a hug ... you are the youngest of my descendants, you know, and that makes you special - at least for a little while." She winked at him teasingly.
Arahad giggled. "You have a nice laugh," he told her brightly, using his new knowledge. "You get a great BIG hug!" And he threw his arms around her neck and squeezed as hard as he could.
Atalya laughed again and stood, her arms around his back, picking him up for a better hug.

"So cute," Feng murmured to Haradhel.
Even though it was quite predictable she would say that, Feng still meant every word of it.
"I wished I was around earlier before the wedding," she told Haradhel quietly, "But well... that's okay. I get to surprise Aliya in the future."
She looked down at Naida for a bit.

Haradhel giggled at Feng. "He's always like this," she confided in the mermaid. "He loves attention ... as much as Adonijah still hates it."
She smiled at both Feng and Naida. "Aliya will be thrilled to see you both," she murmured. "Do you want us to tell her the good news? Or would you rather tell her yourself?"

Feng had the good grace to blush, because admitedly she did want to be the one to tell Aliya, even though that would mean it would be who knows how long before Aliya found out. Maybe she could sneak in a visit quickly before Elnara and Lore's honeymoon so she wouldn't have to wait.
"I would like to be the one to tell her," Feng confessed.

Haradhel smiled and nodded. "Then you shall indeed be the first to tell her," she murmured. "I'll make sure the kids know. And Elrohir. And S- Mother and Father."
She blushed softly. "I still can't get used to that."
Well, time had a way of getting anyone used to anything. Time would show what the future would bring.

"Thank you," Feng smiled looking down at Naida, "Hear that? You're going to be a surprise when we get to visit the Borderlands." Naida blinked back at her mother, not understanding it at all, and the little girl said so pointing out to her mother.
"But Mommy I'm already a Surprise!"

Three days after the arrival of Elrohir and Haradhel, Shiro had the good fortune to be walking past the main entrance of the castle, his nose stuck in a book (which would surprise no one), when the final guests arrived. He didn't know who they were or where they were coming from (except that they were coming from far away), but he knew immediately that they had to be important - because it wasn't a matter of the doors opening and some people filing in with bags over their shoulders ... it was a different matter altogether.
He looked down at Lin, who he had been reading to, and then up once more to watch the proceedings.
The enormous double doors opened wide, both of them, and the first people to enter were two guards - two very tall (even compared to the elves here) golden haired men wearing light mail over blood-red tunics and golden pants, armed with swords and bows. Cold blue eyes peered out from their lightly tanned faces, and they came to an abrupt halt, hands on the hilts of their swords, standing at attention.
Shiro looked back at Lin. "Must be someone important," he murmured softly out of the corner of his mouth, his wings closing tightly against his back.
Ura, as always near Shiro, flicked one ear, his eyes half closed as he watched the newcomers suspiciously.

Following close behind the guards (which they obviously were) came three people: a Southland woman, her long, black hair plaited and woven with silver, her garb obviously meant for travel yet of the highest quality and in a world like this one, probably quite expensive.
On her left walked a man, his hair only the slightest bit lighter than hers, pulled back in a neat ponytail at the back of his skull, outfitted in a green traveling outfit made of spidersilk.
The third person, a young woman, had boyishly short, dirty blond hair and was dressed like the man, rather than the woman. Yet her clothes also had their own sort of ... stylishness about them, that made them sort of feminine rather than purely tomboyish. Her eyes were a mix of brown and green with some flecks of violet in them - a rare colour of eyes indeed.
All three of them entered the palace and looked around, all three of them smiling. Four more guards followed them in, but they paid them no mind.
After a moment, the dark-haired woman smiled brightly. "Finally," she murmured. "It's been forever."

Lin studied the three who came in, they wore very nice clothing and from having borrowed clothes twice, she knew they were of high quality. Her mind thought to whom they could be, important... probably family, unless something came up at the last minute. They were guards, but they did not wear the colourings she recongized, which only meant...
"I think.... it is Atalya's daughter, grandson, and great-granddaughter..." Lin murmured quietly back in Japanese, not wanting to be caught talking about them, "She said they would be here for the wedding, and yes... they are very..."

"Very," Shiro agreed, also talking in Japanese now. The switch in language was easy for him, as so many things were. He glanced down at Lin again. "And their names?" he asked her softly. "Or ... perhaps we should talk to them ... I'm sure they will be wanting to see Great-grandmother after all ... maybe we should take them there ..."
But at the same time he couldn't help but worry a little about how he would be received. Everyone had reacted the same way to him - with fear - before knowing he was Elnara's son.
Ura on the other hand had no intention of waiting around and wasting time; Shiro wanted answers, and he would get them for him.
He padded right up to the dark-haired woman, the one who seemed most at home and who also seemed to be the eldest, and smiled gently, his sharp teeth quite visible.
"Greetings," he said politely, quite possibly the most polite tone he had ever taken in his life. "I am Ura Aldrich Winters ... and who might you be?"

The golden-haired guards moved to stop Ura from passing them, but at a signal from the woman they stood at attention once more - though their eyes were suspicious and remained fast on the neko.
The woman's eyes lit up when Ura introduced herself, and she bowed her head slightly to him.
"Thank you for your welcome," she said warmly, her eyes sparkling in a manner that to some was quite familiar. "I am Amalthea Elessedil, High Queen of the Westland Elves ... daughter to Queen Atalya." She put one finger to her lips, and it looked as though she were trying not to giggle.
"And if you are an Aldrich Winters," she said softly, "then you are one of the children of my niece ... Elnara ..."
