In a distant place, on a plane vastly removed from all others, a God sat on an ebon throne. His fortress was cold, dark and nearly silent, but for the whispers of lesser beings in the vast shadows. From this throne, he sat looking upon a city, a drow city, deep within the depths of UnderGaia. Vhaeraun was the God's name and the city he gazed upon was Au Shinduago. Long he sat, pondering his plans, until at last his silken voice cut the darkness. "Someone must take control of Au Shinduago..and that one shall know power unto godlings and demons."

The Grand procession made its way to the gates of Qu'ellar Druu'giir. The troops clearly ready for a battle should one ensue. Drejan addresses the guards stating "Lay down your weapons, pledge allegiance to your new Valsharess and let me pass." In a clearly no questions asked yet daring them to do so anyway tone.

*The Barra Errdegahr that stood at the gates of Qu'ellar Druu'giir regarded her with cruel smiles. One, larger and fiercer looking than the rest stepped forward, its claws dripping shadowstuff. With no fear in its pitiless eyes, it looks down at her, black lips spreading into a fang filled grin.*By what right do you claim such a title Ilythiiri? We are tasked by our Lord to see that only the one who can control this city takes the seat of power left by the former Lord of Au Shinduago. Bear you evidence of your claim to such power? Hmm?

"By this sword I lay claim to the power and right to the crown of Valsharess of the city of Au' Shinduago." she finishes with confidence drawing Val'atar's Blade its blade crakling with an inherant magic, as she levels it in one motion at the Barra Errdegahr's throught so as he could see it with his own eyes.

*Drawing back with a hiss as the blade is drawn, the shadow demon snarls at her, but dares approach no further. Its merciless eyes dart from the blade to her, as it ponders what to do. Suddenly, drawing itself up, the creature returns to the squad at the gate and snarls something in a language not meant for mortal ears. The words twist and grind at the minds of any who hear it.. and the group of dark beings turn as one, spreading to allow the drow access to the gate and the expansive grounds beyond. High above, hidden in shadow and near silence, the ebony fortress that is Qu'ellar Druu'giir hangs from the ceiling like a great black spear tip. No faerie fires line its walls, no drow travel its walkways.. but it is far from empty.*

The procession proceeds past the gates finding themselves in the structures grand garden the confidence of there Valsharess propelling them forward. Finding a structure in the center of its expanse they aproach warily unsure of what to expect.

*The barracks and central lower estate gleam dully in the darkness. From time to time a drow passes into view and then vanishes into another part of the building. As the new comers enter, a thin waif like drow female appears from around a bend and falls to the floor at their feet. her eyes are down cast and she trembles softly*"My lord bids you welcome.. he apologizes for not being here to greet you Ilharess, but his death prevents such actions. I am bidden to show you to the sigil of power if you desire, once unlocked.. you can then transport yourself to the upper estate and claim your prize. However, my lord bid me to tell you that nothing comes easily or without cost. This way if you please Jabbress.."*Rising gracefully with only a slight tremor of fear, the slave leads them to a large room. Stepping aside, she indicates the sigil burned into the very stone in the middle of the room. Paler than the stone it lay in, it appeared puckered, like a scar upon the face of the very floor. A faint odor of sulfur and something else cloyingly lingered in its vicinity.*

Drejan scans the room carefuly for potential traps and still active defences, murmering "Indeed many things come with a price." Then casts detect magic over the rune as well as read magic so as to determine its function. A few of her guard carefuly searching for anything that may be amiss possibly a clue that may help there Valsharess. Unsure of what the second scent is Drejan casts detect poison on the room as well, just to be sure.

*Blindingly power magic appears to be the source of the sigil's power. The complex weave is a spell over another spell. The later is a simple transportation spell, designed by nature to lift one into the upper estate upon the speaking of a command phrase. As for the primary spell, its unlike anything the drow had ever seem. tapping the shadow weave, its nature was alien and caused the mind to ache just attempting to comprehend it. Obviously it was something Val'atar had left for uninvited guests and being an Arch-Mage as well as a half fiend, it was anyone's guess as to its origin. Still it figured that its nature had some clue in its creator and perhaps in his work on this plane. As the guards moved about the room, one came into contact with the sigil by accident and a dark flare of magic burst into existence, sucking the wayward drow into a portal, casting it to an unknown location on some far flung plane. Those present are greeted to a momentary glimpse of a watery realm of darkness and hungry aquatic creatures before the portal vanishes and a new scent is added to the two previous.. that of brine, salty air creeping through the room. On the up side however, no poisons seemed to be present, just the stone walls and the magic of the sigil itself.*

"The shadow weave" Drejan murmers recognising it from the grace of being a Nightbringer of Shar. The origins of the spell were beyond her means to fathom beyond that it was a gate trap of some form. ordering her guard to stand back. She questions the female "This is powerful magic might i inquire the command word of safe passage?" Eyes narrowing as her ring activates turning herself into a half-shadow dragon and folding her wings about herself in emphasis. Hand not straying far from her sword.

*Skittishly, the waif like drowess turns towards the new comers and swallows softly before moving to fall to the floor before the Ilharess*"My lord did not grant me the knowledge of such things, I am but a slave. The command phrase was known only to the nobles of the Qu'ellar and those few others my lord chose to gift with its knowledge. I am sorry Jabress.. but, I do know that the nobles also wore a brooch to pass the wards of the upper estate. A soldier whom I seduced once told me such."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 01, 2010 11:18 pm

Not entirely pleased to hear this news, Drejan lets out a small hiss and continues in a hevily draconic accented tone "And where might one such as myself find one of these brooches when the old master is no longer arround to present them?"

*Whispering in a fearful tone, the slave trembles violently as she answers*"I do not know Ilharess, I am only a slave. I am very sorry Ilharess.. I have not seen my lord's consort since his death nor his daughter. His pet escaped and the Captain of the Guard was found assassinated in his room. None of the guards have been able to return to the upper estate since they returned to the barracks for food. I know nothing else Jabress, please.. spare me.."
