Imerius glared at the boy. "I am started to prefer the jacked up Gifteds we have in Manhattan. They at least know where reality is. Boy probably never had decient schooling either. I will do you this favor, Claude. Hate to see a boy get hurt when he is this niave. But I get the eat the scientist." Imerius was not joking. He was hungry.

Death laughed maically as he noticed that the street lights were starting to flicker "there will be a brown out soon, and then after a few more minutes of this, the eventual, black out. My cells are recharging slowly, Im only at 48% power now... It'll take almost an hour at this rate to recharge completely.."

The scientists Eyes grew large.He wasn't even the leader of the project.There was also professor Johnson, and Ridden."Why would Brother Roma let a inferior gif...demon kill one of his own?" He said.He had no weapons, no way to defend himself.
"Brother Roma, Are you suggesting that I work with a demon?"He asked sounding unsettled by the idea.if he attacked the scientist it would mean that he hadn't repented, meaning he must be banished.He had a hand on the hilt of his sword just to be ready.But he never took his eyes off Roma during all of this.

Imerius gave a guttural chuckle. He was as close to a demon as the boy would get. He supposed boy wasn't the right term. They were probably near the same age.
Claude waggeled a finger at Imerius. "My brother has told me of your diet. You can only eat other demons."
"I'm going to starve then. There are no demons around here. 'Cept the Beast...no one is sure on him."
"You have heard of the Beast?"
"I'm no simpleton he is well known in the underground." He then turned to the scientist as if reading his thoughts. "I've already eaten a project head at Oxford. He pissed off Nero enough, so Nero was nice enough to give him to me. That is probably the only reason I could only accept that man. Knowing he had a crush on my aunt...when she was 10 kind of creeps me out."

James eased his grip on the hilt."Brother, what would you have me do? If you truly want me to work with a demon I will, but I do not think it wise, unless you are sure he has repented."He said.He looked over to Imerius with disgust.'I can't believe he allows demons to roam freely, but then again, I was once a demon, but I have now repented...I will give them a choice, if they fail to repent of their sins against the lord, I will exorcise them.'He thought.

Imerius raised an eyebrow at the boy. 'He is full of it. Definite brainwashing.' He decided to speak his mind. "My entire family was killed because they thought my aunt was a 'demon.' I am the only 'demon' in the family. I was five when my mother shoved my baby brother and I under the bed to hide us from the people that kill her and dad." His gold eyes glinted. "I only work because I didn't want some orphans to become a possessed agent's dinner."
Claudius cut off the navy haired boy there. "Our order has captured this demon and he can only work for us or be damned to realm of the devil. I would have him exorcised already, but the other Brother Roma sent him to me to keep him on his toes. Something about him tempting a co-worker." Smoke rose from the draconian's nostrils.

"They did not brainwash me, they showed me the truth..."He said angrily."And I don't know about your aunt, perhaps she was possessed, and the brother was in actuality saving her and sending her to heaven."He said.It made sense to him.This demon was tempting him 'no hate, no hate, no hate' He kept thinking trying to calm down."The lord and his followers are the only truth"He said at last.

Imerius smiled at Claude. "You knew my aunt didn't you Claude. You know the ten year old girl that got shot in the heart and you brother dissected. They only way he could touch her. You and I both know she didn't have the Gift."
Claudius rose from his desk and slammed his hands down. "Imerius Majeare that is quite enough. I deserve a bit more respect from you. I know my brother has been loose with you, but I run a tight ship around here."
Imerius gave a very mocking bow. "Sorry Brother Roma. It is my hunger speaking. I need a large room. I sleep like a dragon. I will start by helping the order track the beast. I'm a superb tracker. I don't even need technology. But I do need a staff. My wooden one broke when I was captured."

Imerius chuckled. "I said his brother who had the hots for my aunt forty years ago. He loves anything related to her."
Claudius smiled. "And yet he sent you to me."
"Tells you that he isn't that stupid, at least. Or that he preferred that cute engineer. Take as you want."
Claudius gave up now. "I actually would like for you to bring me the Beast. The Beast is an assassin that works both sides. He doesn't care about the holy wars. Imerius can give you more information he seems to know about him."
Imerius thumped James on the head. "No telepathy. It is dangerous. Can get intercepted."

Imerius glared. "I just did. If you are smart, which I doubt. You keep your thoughts to yourself. And don't share them with me." Imerius wrapped his arm around his new partner. "Well. You are going to be a tour guide. Show me where the meat is. Bye Claude."
Claudius looked at the scientist after Imerius got the boy out of hearing range. It as if Imerius understood him on a subconscious level despite laking telepathy. "Why did you train him to this fervor? It makes him a danger to us and himself."

James took Imerius to the cafeteria.He himself was hungry, and this was his first time not having a scientist over his shoulder and ordering for him.He walked up and went straight for all the sweets.He grabbed a cup of Jello, and a small slice of cake.It was quite the contrast to his usual oatmeal.he had a definite smile on his face as he ate the sweet delicacies.

Imerius gave the kid a raised eyebrow. He went for a ham. He managed to walk off with the whole thing. He also got a some tea to drink. He found a table to sit at. "My first meal without Niccea, Trent, Whym, Ashley, Mitsu, Hawk, Falcon, Ember, or Ares." He sighed. "Here's to y'all. Don't get killed." That was as close to a prayer he got. He forgot to mention Maria, but he really didn't know her too well.
Claudius sighed. "What if he starts spouting on the outside? Did that even cross your mind? We don't want the regular humans to turn on us too."
