Well, I know he resigned his senatorial seat, but I'm not sure if that process is over yet...
And I'm pretty sure that they got the term punishment from when he was saying he'd want his daughters to have the choice to have an abortion because he didn't want them punished with teenage pregnancy.

Personally, as far as flair goes, I keep trying to find pro-choice stuff, but most of the stuff that comes up is anti-choice. ):<
Someone needs to sort that out.
We need some more witty and biting phrases, too.

So I found this gem on facebook:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
And I looked up that Bible verse:

`Bible Gateway` website thinger
["]For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.["]

Right, sure. That makes sense as a pro-life verse, right?
Yes--but only when completely out of context. This Bible story has nothing to do with babies; it's God being all, "those dumb prophets, they be makin' false prophecies! Only I know what I'm gonna do. *pout*"
The "you" is the people that fled from Jerusalem to Babylon, nooooot a fetus. Not in the slightest way could this be construed as being in regards to a fetus.
God can still make a fledgling society prosper and have hope/future without planning out every single babies' life. In fact, he can just make replace one person for another, because all he would care about are the roles that people serve, not the actual people themselves, to further this society.

Srs failure.
PS: I was ttly unaware that "prosper" can act a verb...

From this thread in the ED:

tinkerbellmeg

Maybe if all these whore teens kept their legs shut there wouldnt be over crowded systems and dumbass welfare girls running around. Because essentially those babies are going to grow up and think well mama was a whore and had sex with every p***s on the block, im going to too! So quit saying they're not whores because they ARE. Not for getting pregnant maybe one time but deffinitely when they sleep arond and are pregnant multiple times by different dads. And whats sad is that little scenario is usually true and dont act like it isnt.

*rolls eyes* According to her, if you have sex more than once, you are a whore. stressed

Wow...I'm stumbling upon some serious gems here. It's from this thread, and in response to me telling them that forcing someone who didn't use protection to remain pregnant is not very wise, they fire off this nugget:

Kita44

Not really, but I think that someone who has sex without protection, and gets pregnant unintentionally (teenagers mostly) should be punished. and not all, but about half of the parents of these teenagers arent really going to care about what happens to them. so how are those teenagers going to learn to stop what theyre doing and take responsability without some type of punishment. i hate to look at pregnancy as a punishment, but sometimes i think you have to.

At least she admitted that pregnancy can be used as a punishment. Too bad she thinks that teens are the only group of people that don't use protection.

Oh, all people who have irresponsible sex are teens, and all teens have irresponsible sex. When you turn 20 you magically become sexually responsible. Haven't you heard? rolleyes

If course! That explains why I got pregnant at 19!

You should really read tinkerbellmeg's posts. Oi... I reported all of them for trolling.

Hasn't tinkerbellmeg been mentioned here before? That name sounds familiar for some reason...

*shrugs* I feel like I know of her. Isn't she a common pro-life troll and hasn't she been quoted in this very thread before?

Anyway, RHRealityCheck gets bombarded again:

Immorality causes poverty

Debra, you said of women contemplaing abortion that "too often, they did not have partners who they wanted to spend their lives with or who could support them." Bingo.

Let's start teaching our daughters to cross their legs around such men. Why are we sleeping with men we don't want to spend our lives with or who can't support us if we get pregnant? When we do this, we not only throw ourselves away, but also betray our sisters by spoiling these guys. In our supposed freedom, we play into their adolescent fantasies and spoil them for other women who are looking for, but can't find real protective men.

Also, poverty is most often caused by not finishing high school and getting pregnant outside of marriage. Don't tell me that we need more access to contraception and sex ed. We don't lack either of those, and yet the out-of-wedlock pregnancy rate rises and rises. We've produced a generation of sexual retards who think marriage is a "Father Knows Best" fantasy. Abortion is the result of this dumbing down of sex.

Way to oversimplify poverty! So basically, we need to teach our young girls that their bodies and their sexuality are commodities that they need to forbid all but the highest bidders access to. Before you weep for humanity, commenter Emma has an excellent response to this post.

commenter DerekP
I agree wholeheartedly we should reduce the rates of unintended pregnancy, but my larger goal is to reduce the abortion rate because abortion is worse than unintended pregnancy. I believe along with reducing unintended pregnancy we need a comprehensive approach to reducing abortion rates. This would include:

1. Improving the economy and removing barriers that keep abortion minded women from earning a livable wage.
2. Improving access to vital healthcare that women and unborn children need
3. Reforming immigration policy so undocumented workers are less pressured to abort.
4. Educate people about the reality of abortion and make the procedure "unthinkable" as an option.

It's option 4 that's makes pro-choice people mad at me, but that is because we have different views on the morality abortion

So basically: Women are too stupid to know what an abortion is, but fortunately DerekP know us better than we do!

Got this one from FSTDT:

Quote:
There is no evidence to support that PP [Planned Parenthood] actually gives a rip about women’s rights other than that they give out cheap contraception and cheap abortions, while dishonestly claiming that to lose their government funding women would lose these cheap services.

There's an abortion discussion in another guild I'm in, and I'm having a hard time figuring out a weirder abortion stance than what one girl has posted.

Quote:
I personally say anyone under the age of 17 who gets knocked up (and they weren't raped, and willingly having sex with an adult is not rape in my opinion) should have to keep the kid. Maybe that would get freakin' 13 and 14 year old girls to stop having sex. Seriously, the idea of having to take care of a baby is not pleasing to middle school aged girls.
:l
Anyone older than that should be given the option of abortion. They might get pregnant at a bad time, and they aren't able to support the baby.

I personally think anything is better than Unwinding.
(xD. It's a joke. I read a book called Unwind by Near Shusterman, WHICH WAS AMAZING, and it's about the future where a war broke out over something stupid, and I think abortion was one of the reasons too, and some scientests or something proposed the idea of taking the child apart and giving the body parts to those who need them if the child is 13+ and the parents don't want them)

Quote:

If a girl gets pregnant with a baby she never wanted because she was raped, and she was forced to keep the baby, that would be a perminent reminder of what had happened to her. If the girl got pregnant because she willingly had sex, then she needs to live up to what she did. It's true that there is no difference between the fetuses, it's a big difference for the mother.
:l
And yeah, those [most middle/high schoolers not being able to support a baby, and some teenagers wanting children] are problems, but it's not gonna be perfect. Ideas always have flaws in them, and while that is the case for some, it is not the case for all.
And if she had sex in middle/high school, well that's her own damn fault. She shouldn't be having sex at such a young age.

Read: Take responsibility for your actions! But only if you're a teenager. rolleyes
I don't like referring to abortion stances using terms besides 'pro-life' and 'pro-choice', but I'm making an exception for this. Definitely pro-punishment.

Doesn't she know pregnancy is more dangerous when you're younger? I would actually be curious about the death toll if that idea actually went into effect (just to clarify, I wouldn't wish this into effect at all). Always found it interesting that in the minds of people that banning will produce extreme reduction results with no negative consequences.

Wouldn't be surprised.

This one found on FSTDT pretty much sums up how much anti-abortionists care about women:
Quote:
(On cases where giving birth would kill the mother and/or the baby)

Having a premature baby is far different from having an abortion because the mother "will" die (in the doctors OPINION anyway). Trusting God is not murdering the wife, it's saying "we will obey God by not murdering our baby, and trust Him with the wife's life".

(later on)

I'm a mom to two young boys and my husband said he would never want to lose me, but both us and our church believe that murder is wrong for ANY reason. I don't know why this concept is so difficult for people...it's emotional for sure, but the Biblical commands are clear here so we just have to put our emotions in check and OBEY.

Kabecka

Gah, so many women are so selfish. My friends older sister had an abortion without even telling the father. When he found out he was heartbroken. I can understand if your body can't support a baby and you and the child will end up dead. But if the condom accidentally broke and your only concern is how fat your a** is going to get, your just being a selfish b***h.

I hate people who call me selfish because they have no idea what life is like! stressed
