Cody sent out Croconaw and Flareon. "Intruder?" Cody asked. Then he thought, "Maybe... Nah... Can't be..."

Kurt sighed as he told the two Aqua members and Lucario who had just entered the house after looking around outside to stay put and that he'll go check it out.

Ike had already left the house, though, through the back screen door in Kurt's work room, and into Ilex Forest.

Kurt had calmed down his granddaughter and sent her off to bed. Ike had told Kurt that no one could see him here. After "checking" all the rooms, he returned to the two Aquans.

"Just her over active imagination." he said quiet assuringly. Something interesting called him though as he caught a glimpse out the window of a flashing blue light that echoed through the trees, though it could of been the sky.
"...It's been a long while since I've seen that... ahem, the arora borealis, I suppose. Anyway," said Kurt, turning back to the Aqua members, "You'd like to learn something about making poke balls? I'm afraid I can only show you my "old school" techniques. Seems there is a bunch of new technologies out there to make poke balls. They'll never match my quality, though."

"Ah, the Auroa, such a pretty sight on such a drab evening." Ginji smiled as he put his hand over his heart. "And yes, old school is exactly the type of thing we're looking for. Technology is over rated anyways." the boy laughed as he remembered how dependent everyone back at HQ was on technology. Without it, they'd barely have a Team. Though Ball Making would give him an interesting hobby.

"Nothing like it," Cody said then replied to Ginji's second comment. "I want to learn too. I have always wanted to know."

Kurt chuckled as he sat at the work bench. "Essentially, you pound the essence of the material you're working with into the Ball's essence. Very serene. The result is unrivaled. I make these special balls out of Apricorns. Each apricorn is valuable because apricorn trees are very sensitive; picking an apricorn before it is ripe, or picking too many at once could damage the entire tree." Kurt explained as he began to pick up his materials.

"Before Poké Balls were around, people hollowed out Apricorns and put a device in them to capture Pokémon." Kurt coughed slightly as he picked up an Apricorn. A pink one.

"Pink holds the power of Love, White the power of Speed, Yellow the power of the Moon, Green the power of Friendship, Blue the power of the Ocean, Black the power of Gravity, and Red the power of Anger. They hold enormous power over their respective domain, and when combined with modern machines, they can create catastrophic result." Kurt explained as he started to work on shaping the Apricorn into a ball and hollowing it out.

"Any questions?" The old man finally asked.

"I have one, why do you expect them to be used for evil?" Ginji piped up. "They definitely could be used for good as well."

"That they could young one. That they could. I am old and set in my ways." Was Kurt's only reply. "What about you Youngling?"

Cody looked awkwardly at Kurt then timidly replied, "Me?" Cody had completely lost himself in Kurt's lesson. He sat there with his hands in his lap, listning intently and taking in everything the old man had said.

"No, the youngster behind you!" Kurt sad sarcastically. "Yes you, what was your name again? Cody. That's right. Any questions?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 25, 2008 9:32 pm

"Um... Let's see," Cody tried to be as polite as possible, though he didn't want to ask questions yet. He wanted to get back into the lesson. "I... I don't think so."

"Good." Kurt muffled as he picked up a hammer and whacked it against the Apricot. "Hard as a rock." he smiled as his Slowpoke waddled up to him. "Yes Slowpoke. It's going to be another long one." he petted the Pokemon's head as it fell to the floor.

"Time for a demonstration. It's probably the only one you'll ever get, also, this is a simple trade, easily to learn, impossible to master." Kurt continued as he picked up a chisel shaped tool and began forming a completely round ball out of the apricorn. He then took a saw blade and cut the sphere in half, revealing a solid inside which he hollowed out. From a drawer he took two pieces of malleable titanium and wrapped it around the incision, leaving a spot for the Pokeball's dot. opening the sphere up, he sanded a flexible microchip that ran the entire area of both the top and bottom of the ball's interior.

Adding the finishing touches such as a few hearts by the button and the button itself, the ball was completed. "And there we are. That's how to make a Apricorn ball. Note that you have to add the button last, or else the ball won't hold up for more then a few months. And you must design the ball to fit the Apricot's personality, as gratitude for letting it become your tool."

"I think I understand, do you mind if we try?" Ginji asked as he watched in aww at the Master Ball Maker.

"Sure, go right ahead, I have plenty of Apricorn, take you pick." Kurt said as he pointed to a drawer full of Pokeball supplies. Ginji took a Yellow Apricorn to work with.

Cody remembered the lesson by heart. He picked up a random tool that looked like the one Kurt used and started to form the ball. Cody took the steps in order until he was about three-quarters of the way done. "Now all I need is a micro-chip," he said and took a piece of sand paper and a micro-chip from Kurt and started to sand it in. Cody slowly started to apply the button, hoping he wouldn't mess up. Cody popped the button in place after carving a small design around it. Finally his ball was completed.

The Apricorn felt odd in his hands, it didn't feel just odd, it felt light. Like the Summer where he would watch the Moon each night it arose from the horizon and watch its glory reign down from the sky. That was it, the power of Moon. The boy picked up a chisel and a knife to begin scrapping away at the rough exterior. Eventually he had a small, ball shaped object. It was perfectly spherical and weighed 9.8 ounces in his palm.

Next came the hollowing out and sanding of the inside. Much to his surprise, the inside was a much darker color then the outside, and was even rougher. Non the less he continued to work diligently, letting his soul pour into the ball itself, nothing else mattered, except the ball's own emotions. As the two halves we done being made, Ginji grabbed a pre-cut piece of Titanium and the flexible Microchip to sand into the interior. The electrical circuit was gorgeous, having just a slight hiccup in the top right corner. Then it was time to add the button. SNAP, the metal reactor went on with ease and comfort.

Kurt eyed his work suspiciously as Ginji started decorating the ball with moons and stars and other Lunar associations. "Easy with the decorations tyke, no need to be overly grateful." Kurt laughed as he picked up the ball. "You sure you haven't done this before? Only a few hiccups, but this is good for a first timer." he smiled as he tossed the ball back to Ginji who was staring at the ball in shock.

"Cody, it's getting late, we need to start heading back." Ginji called across the room, as much as he wanted to stay, there was just no way.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 25, 2008 10:09 pm

"Ok, let's go," Cody said reluctantly. He wanted to stay and make pokeballs all night from Apricorns, but he couldn't. He thanked Kurt and turned to Ginji. "Ready?"

"Hold up now, here. They're seeds, they can't be used in Pokeballs, but they can grow the Apricorns." Kurt smiled as he handed Ginji seven Apricorn seeds. "They grow best in any condition." Kurt smiled. "As for the Microchips, I'll have a friend of mine send some your way in bulk, along with the Titanium strips."

Ginji actually bowed. "Thank you so much sir." as he accepted the gifts and reached for Darkrai's Pokeball which was burning in silent darkness. Kurt noticed it and commented.

"I see you caught the Prince of Darkness, beware, you may need a new cell before long." Kurt smiled, they didn't make Pokeballs like they use to.

"I see, thanks for all your help Kurt." Ginji sighed as he released Darkrai. "Can you teleport us home from inside the barrier?" Ginji asked.

Shadows emerging. Time is nigh upon us. To home. To safety. Darkrai roared as a portal appeared under Ginji and Cody as they disappeared into their respective rooms at HQ.

"Night Ginji. Sleep well." Cody said as he retired for the night. He tossed his pokeball around in his hands and went out to the common room. Cody held his pokeball close as he lie on the couch, swiftly drifting in and out of conciousness.
