"As I said before... I am prepared," Elyan reassured. The kind of experience she was describing wasn't one he was unfamiliar with. No, he had lost many people dear to him before his eternal life began. Ellie, in a blood-filled frenzy similar to the one he had experienced, took the lives of most of his family. Besides the death of his father, whom he held much hate for, he lost all but two of his eight siblings. Then they, too, passed in time as he watched as an immortal doll who would never age or change.
It was obvious that Holly wanted to get off the subject. It probably made her uncomfortable, seeing as how she didn't like to meddle in the affairs of others. No matter, he too didn't wish to divulge in the past any longer. He turned his attention to her new topic.
"I must admit, I've traveled all over the world and New York has to be the most confusing city of them all. It's rather surprising to find so many supernatural beings in one, concentrated area. Even London doesn't compare." It was true. Hiding in every corner or dark space in this city seemed to be a supernatural creature or two. Yet, so many were careless. They walked destructive paths, leaving behind enough mess to trace the slaughterings back to something inhuman.

Corinne couldn't really say she'd been devastated by the loss of her family seeing as her father had been very adamant on what she'd been able and not able to do. He'd placed a leash on her from birth and expected nothing but her obedience and she'd been to marry whomever he felt she should marry. Her mother had been extremely condescending and judgemental and as Corinne had grown older and was reaching the height of her beauty, she'd been able to detect her mother's jealousy. The nasty comments were ones that were meant to choke her self-esteem and make her doubt herself, not comforting words that a typical mother would give to their child. Her father had been very hard on her and whenever she'd disobeyed he would be harsh on her. However, as much as she didn't take note of her mother's passing, her father's actually had affected her. She'd felt his absence and though he'd been harsh on her and kept her on a leash her whole life he'd been doing what he thought was best for her and she couldn't hate him for that.
The vampiress shook off the thoughts and memories that'd come to assail her and instead listened to Elyan's response in assuring her that he would be prepared. Perhaps he was not as pathetic as he'd first convinced her he was. Though he hadn't drank any human blood he was still rather wise and she could only assume that came with how old he was. She respected him for being as wise as he was but he was certainly naieve when it came to being a true vampire and accepting his true nature. One could not deny what they were born as or what they'd been turned into, Elyan was no exception. "That is good to know since I'm certain you will face a transgression or two along your way to redeeming your sire."
"I haven't been to London for some time and I've never crossed the sea to step foot on this continent until a few days ago. The sheer size of this city is certainly impressive and is practically an empire unto its self but it seems sad that modern life seems to be sapping the life out of this city as well. I am curious to know what this city was like when it managed to influence Edgar Allan Poe since his works are often rather dark. Perhaps the darkness was already claiming this city even that long ago. Have you heard of him, Mr. Poe? He is rather famous and I'd assume people of Britain would have heard of him but I suppose one can never be too certain seeing as you were possibly travelling the world at the time." Corinne, of course, had loved Edgar's works and could recite a few by heart. She adored the darkness with which he wrote with and it'd captured her interest years ago.

"Although I didn't hear of Poe initially, I came across some of his works during my later travels at a time when Ellie wasn't present. His tales were eerie, yet captivating. Especially works such as "The Cask of Amontillado" or "The Fall of the House of Usher". His poem, "Annabel Lee", often reminded me of my own loss, but that was a time of much self-pity in my life. That was all many years ago."
The midnight air had become a thickened with the smell of water, the sign of a storm on the horizon. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too-heavy a downfall, it'd make their small tour much more annoying as Elyan didn't wish to have to try and find more clothes, again. He was sure Holly would feel the same way, more or less because she was a woman and she had certain, er, aspects to keep to herself. Those were rather embarrassing thoughts, he'd be sure to keep them to himself.
Speaking of mental abilities, his control was much, much better due to him having fed minutes ago. He wasn't used to the lack of fresh blood in his system, having usually ignored his own bloodlust to the point of going berserk many times while on his own. Those were memories he often tried to suppress, however foolish it may seem. Looking back to those times, no matter how sick he sometime got from the aftermath of his rages, a part of him loved every bit of it. The way the blood felt going into his mouth, his tongue lapping the red substance like a dog. He was far too innocent to be a vampire, yet he was going to change that.
'Yes, WE are going to become much, much stronger...' the young voice echoed inside of his mind. On the outside, Elyan licked his lips ever-so slightly as if he were trying to catch blood which had escaped his mouth. He could taste some remnants of the blood he had taken from the corpse, a pleasant surprise. But, Elyan quickly snapped back to his more normal self, hoping she hadn't noticed his odd change of character.
'She is a rather cautious one. Try not to let her see everything in our mind. We still don't know whether she can be completely trusted.'
"Are you going to meddle in all of my affairs?" Elyan responded mentally.
'These affairs aren't just your burdens, they're equally mine as well. We are one in the same, remember that...' the voice said, fading away into absolute silence.

"Indeed, some of his tales are rumoured to be from his own life experiences and most I speak to of Poe only know of his poem 'The Raven' and perhaps 'The Tell Tale Heart'. I enjoyed 'The Black Cat' since I happen to be an animal lover and the tale is a rather distraught and unsettling one. To think that some can commit murder as easily as some of the characters he's made, now that's slightly disturbing. Out of annoyance people murder others without any form of regret. It's rather tragic if you ask me. I'd been fascinated with Poe even before his works were famous, I'd managed to grab a travelling copy and I'd fallen in love with his writing style. Even the simplest of things he can make interesting, wonderful and twisted." She listened as Elyan explained about his point in life where he experienced much self-pity and she honestly could relate though she didn't really bother to mention anything in regards to it.
Corinne could easily smell and feel the dampness that enshrouded cities just before rain showers and she looked up into the sky again. Contrary to Elyan's belief, she loved the rain and didn't mind it soaking her clothes all that much. As for her 'aspects', she had a coat and a proper pair of pants which would be able to withstand the rain. It wasn't as though the rain was going to make her chilly or give her hypothermia or anything, one of the advantages of being the undead. Though Corinne hadn't heard what Elyan's thoughts had been about she was scanning surface emotions as she often did and when she felt embarrassment play into the picture she looked over to give Elyan a funny look. "What thought is it that's come to make you embarrassed, Elyan?"
The last thing someone would probably describe Corinne as nowadays was innocent but there probably had been a point in time where she would have been deemed as such. When she'd been a human she'd been equally as naieve, innocent and foolish as Elyan had been in regards to being a vampire and that'd gotten her where she was today. Trust was something she didn't really believe to exist, at least not someone who you could trust for the remainder of your life and assume they would not back stab you. It was in people's and creature's natures alike to stab the backs of others because it was just the order of things. People were self-serving and if something bettered them they often took the opportunity. This was why she kept herself pretty distant from others in order to prevent herself from becoming a victim yet again. She had no desire to play as someone's puppet, she'd been free of her strings for two-hundred years and she wasn't about to get tangled up again.
Being naturally observant, Elyan's evident lapse in character hadn't slipped her notice by any means. Corinne, however, being Corinne chose to mind her business in regards to whatever the hell Elyan was doing. She really didn't care to inspire his wrath upon her and she didn't care to make an enemy of him. Sure he was a gentle soul but there was the dark half of him as well that would just as easily assume getting rid of her if only to benefit itself. Elyan was no different than anyone else, once he got what he needed from her he would probably try to milk her try and bleed her out. He would abandon her and leave her for dead if it served his purposes. Instead of acknowledging his odd behaviour she simply continued to walk as if nothing had happened. One day she might have to confront such behaviour but for now she would leave it be.

"Oh! It's nothing, really!" Elyan replied, having been caught with his embarrassment. Regardless, he tried to change the subject. He worried if something about him made her weary. There was no doubt that it was his 'Other', yet his 'Other' didn't seem all that threatened by the vampiress' presence. It had merely stated that 'they' shouldn't trust her all at once, given that they had known each other for only a short while. Elyan supposed that was just part of being naive, being trusting of someone just because they hadn't done anything to not deserve such trust. Chivalry, a way of life Elyan had forever admired, was probably long-dead. It seemed as if such ways were an invitation for someone to step all over you like a doormat.
"Why don't we cut through the park?" Elyan asked, tilting his head towards the direction of the wooded area. He had gone by this large oasis once or twice while in New York, but never once traversed its grounds. It would be a nice change, a change of scenery. It got boring constantly having buildings stare down upon you. Not to mention, there were far-fewer people in the park this time of night. It might be a good time to discuss what their plans would be. Plus, if they decided to go anywhere else, the park was a rather centralized point.
Unfortunately, Holly had to decline the offer. She had other matters to tend to, first, having only just remembered a small list of things she had originally come to take care of. She parted ways with Elyan, telling him that she would find him once she was through with her errands. Elyan nodded in response as she took off in another direction. Immediately after he left, he heard a small, shattering sound coming from the direction of the park. Now, he had even more incentive to make his way there.
[[Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been a tad busy these past few days and it's only going to get busier. And maybe we can find some other people to RP with us. Maybe have a fight or something, because I have some strange urge to do so.]]

New York City. A sigh escaped a dark haired man's lips as he walked along the busy streets of the city that seems to never sleep. Tucked beneath his arms, the man carried a black duffel bag and had his other hand in his jacket pocket. Marcus had hoped to reach his new place of residence before dusk, but apparently Rush Hour didn't care. After spending an hour to find a place to turn in his rental car from a six day drive to New York from California, the man was tired as sin. Fingering handle of his hidden pistol, a Jericho 941, memories as a hunter kept him alert and motivated to haul his butt.
Several people walked past him, showing no care or concern. It just seemed like an endless wave of people walking and moving, a big contrast to where Marcus originated from. Though he had spent time in large cities like LA or San Diego, never had he seen a place so pack and full of life. Lights and neon signs seemed to brighten what would be a dark night.
"Damn, Does anyone sleep here?" The man grumbled as he readjusted his strap to his duffel bag on his shoulder, letting a sigh escape as walked a bit further, Marcus stopped as he noticed no familiar landmarks around him. According to his employer, the apartment he was given by the company should be nearby, next to the residential district. At least that's what the directions said. Letting out another sigh, the somewhat lost traveler looked around a bit and shook his head. He needed somewhere to rest. Catch his breath from the hustle and bustle of this place. But apparently there are no rest for the weary. With that, the man adjusted his grip on his hidden pistol and continued walking, hoping to heading towards the residential district to the apartment area.

Kerrigan Taylor grinned as she made her way through the streets of New York City. It had been so long since she last took in the sights and smells, it was almost as if she was seeing everything with a fresh set of eyes. She had almost forgotten how beautiful the city could be at night, albeit how crowded. Still, those that knew her would hardly recognize her. The last few months had been unusually kind to the vampiric huntress - she walked with a new confidence not seen in her the last time she was in the city. Her jet black curls bounced around her shoulders with each step she took, black heels falling in determined steps against the concrete. She was a woman on a mission, and whoever dared to get in her way would have one ferocious hellcat on their hands.
Despite the crowded streets, her vampiric senses tingling with the millions of pulsing veins brushing against her as she fought her way against traffic, there was a grin on her lips, fangs barely visible under her perfectly glossed lips. She looked just like any other girl out on the town, but rather than heading to the hottest club in New York, she was heading towards a smaller bar, known throughout the city as the watering hole for all kinds of strange patrons. Hunter's Bar, and Haven laying below, were the sole thoughts on her mind, the purpose behind the dull click of each step in the sea of New Yorkers.
Pausing at a stop light as she waited for the walk signal, she ran one hand back through her curls, brushing her bangs from her face as she began to tap her left heel impatiently. So close and yet so far away, she wanted nothing more than to get back in her old room, put the past behind her and get debriefed on what was going on in the city since her last stay. The flashing white man across the street signaled that her wait was almost over, the raven-haired huntress breaking away from the pack in the blink of an eye. Her green eyes reflected the moonlight above with an eerie glint of determination as she pushed her way through another pack of New Yorkers. Her eyes caught sight of a lost looking soul, duffel bag slung over his shoulder as he started through the city once more. The moment made her think of her first time in the city, the memories flooding back in an almost uncontrollable way.

Adjusting the strap of his duffel bag once more on his shoulder, the dark coated man let out a sigh at the crosswalk, glancing at his surroundings for a good while before putting his attention back to the flow of foot traffic. With his other hand still hidden within his jacket pocket, holding tight to his loaded pistol, Marcus glanced ahead a bit as he suddenly began to whistle. The whistling always tend to ease his mind whenever he was in a situation that he either had no control of or a situation in which only time would fix. Just as he was about to blow a tune, something caught his trained eyes.
Vampire... Though most would laugh at such a thought of mythical creatures running amongst those in reality, Marcus knew better. As did others, but unfortunately, those others were in California. The dark haired man was alone in this city from what he knows. So far, no fellow Hunters have came across him yet, and as Marcus cared, there weren't any. At least not here. Not now. Gripping his gun tighter, Marcus attempted to slow his heart rate by concentrating on the situation at hand.
No point freaking out here with all these folks here. Let's just follow the KISS rule and see where we go then. Noticing that the woman's determined stride, the duffel bag carrying Hunter knew this vampire was on a mission. Just follow her. We'll visit the lair once we're set up, but for now, a little recon won't hurt, right? With that logic figured out, Marcus moved further away from view in the streets, pausing as though to gain his barrings like that a tourist.
Using his peripherals to follow her a few minutes, Marcus let out a sigh and began walking through the thick crowd of city folks, somewhat relieved that tonight would be a busy night in New York. The more folks there were, the easier it would be to blend in and not be noticed. Keeping his distance, his eyes forward and peripherals on the woman, the dark haired man followed the woman through the city.

Kerrigan continued on her way, the further she got into the city realizing just how bad things had gotten in her absence. Seeing fires burning in alleyways as people muttered about the cursed immortals plaguing their city - it made her think about her last experience before she left. In her state of emotional distress from Krii's disappearance, a man in the park held a gun to her head and would have ended her existence if someone had not intervened. Even as she looked back to the event she was more upset at herself for being such a drama queen and letting her guard down than at the perpetrator.
The fire danced momentarily in her eyes before she caught sight of something in her periphery. It was an almost instant feeling, her mind instantly going on alert even if her physical body didn't show the faintest sign of tension - she was being followed. A simple saccade of her emerald eyes, and that was all it took to recognize the man carrying a duffel bag. He was very good, especially for a normal human so far as she could tell.
Breaking away from the fire she had stopped to look at, she started walking once more, her eyes stuck forwards, confident strides once more clicking against the pavement. She couldn't go straight to Haven with someone following her, but walking around aimlessly until he lost interest in her was not necessarily at the top of her to do list. No, in times like this it was best to confront him directly. If he was looking for a fight, he would certainly regret picking her as a target. She might look dainty, but she packed a punch that could make most grown men cry, even if they did look several years her senior.
Gradually, her steps quickened as she moved through the streets before she suddenly disappeared into an alleyway, making sure her gaze fell on him only momentarily so she didn't look like she was trying to avoid looking at him. As soon as she lost sight of him she turned on her heel, hand resting on her thigh to draw her magnum when he rounded the corner, should he be so bold.

Several curses escaped the tan skinned man as the woman he was following suddenly dipped into an alley. Of course, the quicken pace should of alerted the Hunter she knew she was being followed, but he was intoxicated with the new atmosphere as well as his long absence since his last hunt. In his mind, he thought himself a bit rusty and what had just occurred only proved his point. He was rusty. Passing several groups who chanted some nonsense about "immortals", Marcus pulled the hammer back on his gun and casually walked towards the alley as though it was the home he was looking for.
As soon as he was about to reach the corner, the Hunter removed the Jericho from its hiding place and put in near his side, keeping it from view from any passerby's glances. Slowing his pace, and doing a quick survey around him, the man slowed his breathing and put his finger tight around the trigger. He knew if he waited any longer to go around the corner, the woman would vanish in seconds. But something in him, the Hunter instinct, shouted against going ******** it. With that as the final decision, and perhaps a foolish one, the man went around the corner, his pistol leading the way first and his finger eager to pull the trigger. As soon as he completed the turn, he was facing directly before the pale young woman. Without hesitation and simply pure instinct, the dark haired Hunter began squeezing his trigger in rapid succession, sending several regular lead slugs aimed for the woman's chest and head. Though the bullets were of nothing special, he knew they would at least slow the woman down a bit. Hopefully enough for him to pull out his H&K MP hidden inside his duffel.

The moment he came around the corner, her eyes shot to the gun in his hand a second before he started firing. Even her experience and vampiric speed couldn't dodge all the bullets, and as one slammed into the right side of her chest, a second bullet hitting her right shoulder as she dropped to the ground, she let out a cry of pain. In the blink of an eye, she had her own magnum drawn, only holding the left as her right shoulder was too sore to move at the moment. The barrel glistened as she held it with a rather steady hand towards the man. Only a few shots were fired, all of them aimed for his hand holding the gun. They weren't intended to hurt, only to separate his trigger finger from the weapon.
He was definitely human, his close quarters to her now was enough to establish that fact. He was obviously skilled in using handguns, which probably meant that he was more than a civilian. Despite the pain in her shoulder and chest, even if the wounds were already starting to heal since they were normal bullets, a grin formed on her lips, the very tips of her fangs glistening ever so slightly. Her black curls fell into her face as she got to her feet once more, magnum still trained on him with a steady hand. Her chest rose and fell with each breath as she straightened out, a momentary grimace breaking through her calm facial features. However, as quickly as the break came, it disappeared leaving nothing but the cool, crimson stare of the vampiric huntress.
"Are you done? As a hunter, I try to steer clear of smearing human blood across the streets when I can avoid it. Don't give me a reason to change that tonight." Her words were calm - at least as calm as they could be for having 2 bullet wounds healing rather painfully. Her finger tightened ever so slightly on the trigger of her magnum, signaling that she was ready to do some damage if he persisted in fighting her.
