From deep within the Viridian City base, Mai was training. She was not only her Pokemon, but herself as well. Each of her Pokemon were standing obediently in line before her, awaiting her next set of commands. They'd only just finished doing laps of the gym (not the actual gym where Giovanni faced challengers, but a gym solely for training), and she was planning what they should do next. Her gaze slowly turned to the large, white and black Ice-type Pokemon hovering to her far left, and she smiled. "Celsius! Use your Ice Beam to form a wall of ice along the ground, now!"
Giving a grunt, the Glalie did as told, her large, blue eyes glowing as a frosty ray of ice was fired from her ever-grinning mouth. Aiming carefully, Celsius maneuvered the ray back and forth, building up a steady wall of thick ice until it stood nearly as tall as Mai herself, and was nearly as wide as the gym itself.
"Excellent, Celsius," Mai nodded, putting her hands behind her back as the Glalie returned to her position in the lineup. "Now..." she turned to the rest of her Pokemon, and gestured towards the wall. "I want you to focus on breaking through the wall-"
Without waiting for further instruction, Kero, Mai's Typhlosion, took a few steps forward, and let out a fierce roar. Her mane flared up with flames as she reared back and let out a ferocious stream of fire from her gaping mouth, which punched a hole in the icy wall as easily as a hot knife cut through butter.
"Kero, you didn't let me finish," Mai sighed, shaking her head. The rose-coloured Typhlosion hung her head in what appeared to be shame, and took a few steps backward. "I wanted you to get through the wall without use of special attacks, but it's all right. If anything, you've proven that your Flamethrower is hotter than ever, and needs no work whatsoever." She walked over and rubbed the Pokemon's nose, which was met with a delightful purring noise from the Typhlosion. Mai didn't share Giovanni's opinion of Pokemon, which was that they were nothing more but tools for mankind to use. In fact, Mai believed her Pokemon to be her very best friends, and she cared deeply for each and every one of them. If this wasn't the case, then Mai would never have been able to have Serenity evolve from Eevee into the Espeon she was today.

Claps echoed in the Gym where he stood. "Very impressive, Mai," Giovanni sneered, walking out of the doorway to approach the female Admin. His hands were stuffed in his pockets now. "Without a doubt, your Pokemon truly are among the strongest in Team Rocket." He glanced down the row of her Pokemon, eying the Blastoise and Aerodactyl with interest. Of course, he had his own Blastoise but hers seemed much larger and battleworn than his. Clearing his throat, the leader turned his attention towards Mai.
"There's been a decline in Rocket...morale. I'm sure you've noticed?" Giovanni's voice as smooth, yet it still managed to hold that force behind it. "Every time we get somewhere, we get thwarted by those...children. You know the ones, since your sister is one of them." A vein twitched noticeably in his forehead. He walked down the row of her Pokemon, his attention diverted towards them.
"Yet I have a plan to bring many rare and powerful Pokemon to our possession. Our scientists have finally cracked the code of the Master Ball," he stopped walking and held his head up proudly, his eyes closed in solemnity, "And they 'fused' it with our Rocket Ball. I'm sure I don't need to explain what this means?" He looked over at her when he opened his eyes.
"The famed Professor Rowan is having a seminar in Slateport City in a few days. The same day as a beach party being thrown for Trainers. No doubt those kids will be there," Giovanni crossed his arms over his broad chest, "So Mai. I want you, along with your most powerful subordinates, to infiltrate the seminar and steal as many rare Pokemon the good Professor may bring with him as you can. If you do a good job..." he smirked, "I'll let you keep twenty percent of your captures."

Mai didn't flinch as she heard Giovanni's voice from behind her, and her Pokemon remained as they were, each looking at the man with interest. Mai turned to look at him as he entered the training grounds, but said nothing. It was always best to take a compliment from Giovanni with complete silence as a response. She watched him as he studied her Pokemon, particularly her Blastoise. Now, like most trainers, she'd received her first Pokemon from Professor Oak, which had been a Squirtle. Her very first mission from Giovanni had been to gain the good professor's trust, and it had been quite the success. She had been able to pass a good amount of information from the professor himself to Giovanni, and in turn had been rewarded with a rare Pokemon - an Eevee. At the thought, Mai turned towards her Espeon, who'd become her most trusted partner over the years, even more so than the Blastoise. Mai had captured three of her Pokemon (Seviper, Snorunt and Trapinch) on her own, and she'd managed to infiltrate and steal an oddly-coloured female Cyndaquil from a breeding center in Johto. Lastly, the Aerodactyl she had in her possession had also been a gift from Giovanni.
Her attention reverted back towards her boss as he continued speaking, nodding along with each point he made. She frowned at the mention of her sister, and she clenched a fist. "They're impossible to forget."
Her eyes did light up at the mention of the Master Ball, however. It would mean that the possibility of adding rare and powerful Pokemon to their organization's repertoire would be that much easier. Perhaps, if even the lowly grunts of the team had better Pokemon, they'd accomplish even more. The proposition, however, was irresistible, and Mai smiled devilishly at the proposed reward. "I've read about that seminar," she said, touching a finger to her lips. "The professor is supposedly making an announcement of some big discovery. I'm certain he would have valuable information that he could..." she trailed off, selecting her words most carefully, "...share. But then there's those... those kids," she spat out the last word with disgust, "and we can bet that they'll be right there, interfering. We'll need some sort of plan to divert their attention, keep them away from Professor Rowan while we swoop down, steal what we need, and make a getaway." She paused, waiting to see if Giovanni had anything to add.

He always loved to hear the female speak. Her voice, even when so very bitter, was like a sweet sound of some twisted dove in his ear. "Ah, at the tip of the needle like always my dear," he whispered, approaching her. The leader loomed a few inches over her and stared down at her from the tip of his nose. His smirk was still bright on his face. "However, my interest isn't on what the Professor has to say, but merely..." he took her hand in his and placed a black and white Pokeball into her hands, "What he has to bring. As for those kids..." he closed her hand over the ball and walked behind her, his hands behind his back.
"Our agents are everywhere, Mai. You know this," he paced in a small circle around her, "In the least expected of places, yet it could even be so obvious. Our intelligence has informed us that the three strongest of these children - your sister, Mike, and our good friend Kilik - are all separated from each other. They're all bound to be at this party and seminar. They're our biggest threats. The other children are merely pawns in our game, yet can still pose a light threat."
"Our intel has also informed us that your sister is currently traveling with a boy, and that she is carrying Pokemon weaker than what she actually owns. We're unsure of Mike's whereabouts, and Kilik is in the Johto region with a young girl. It also seems that his Pokemon are a bit more capable of when we last saw him. Should this all play the same at the seminar," he paused in front of her, "Our strongest admins will take care of the children while you and your team focus on getting the Pokemon and getting out. This mission..." he whispered, taking her hands up once more, "is in your very...capable hands." Giovanni actually...smiled, his eyebrows raised slightly, anticipating what the woman would say next.

Mai studied the black and white sphere in her hands for a moment, looking up at Giovanni almost quizzically. It was obvious that he knew more about Rowan's visit than he planned to share, which meant that it was for her and her fellow agents to figure out for themselves. She did scold herself silently though, having forgotten about the dozens of agents they'd dispatched nearly everywhere. She sighed, looking towards her Seviper as though the Pokemon had something interesting to say.
She absorbed in her boss's words carefully, thinking about how they had the upper hand at the moment. She assumed that the boy Giovanni spoke of was probably that redhead, which wasn't really a surprise, although it did shock her that her sister would leave all of her strongest Pokemon behind. Doesn't matter, the admin thought darkly. Even if she fought with all her strength against me, I would crush her without a second thought. "Reconnaissance is our priority now," she said, but wasn't addressing Giovanni directly as it was more an outspoken thought. "We know that Mike's strongest Pokemon is that dimwit Charizard of his. If we can take it down quickly, then the rest will fall like bowling pins," she smirked, actually looking up towards the Rocket boss. "Kilik's Pokemon were always fairly even in terms of strength, but he should still be easy enough to overpower. And Kasiya..." she shook her head, stifling her laughter, "if she continues to carry those weaker Pokemon with her, she's a sitting Psyduck." She laughed then, throwing back her head and sending golden locks of blonde hair tumbling about her shoulders.
A few drops of water splashed onto the floor from the hole in the ice created by Kero, and very suddenly Mai turned swiftly towards her seven Pokemon. "Kvarr, Poison Tail! Tanker, Skull Bash! Celsius, Crunch! Kero, Flame Wheel! Sirrus, Dragon Claw! Giggles, Take Down! Serenity, Iron Tail!" In turn, each Pokemon executed their commands, and in only a matter of split seconds, the thick, icy wall was reduced to nothing. Mai laughed again, nodding her head approvingly. "I love it!"

Giovanni nodded at her words then was struck with awe as her Pokemon demolished that wall of ice she had created earlier. "I leave it all to you. Succeed and you will be rewarded," he walked towards the exit with his hands behind his back. He paused in the doorway and looked over his shoulder at her. "Fail, and...well, there will be dire consequences." He smirked darkly then exited the gym.
As he walked down the dimly lit hallway towards the lab, his mind was racing at a million miles a second. He always threated with dire consequences, but Mai was his best Admin and the only person on the entire team he could truly call 'friend'. Although she didn't understand him completely, and nobody did, she was the only one he could confide everything to. Giovanni's hands clenched tightly behind his back. What if she did fail? Would he risk losing the one person in the world worth keeping? Would he risk hurting his strongest partner? But if she succeeded...Team Rocket would be back on top.
Giovanni entered the lab, pausing to examine the pod that held Kilik's shiny Scyther weeks before. It had been completely repaired, and now held a slumbering Arcanine. This particular experiment was to designed to try and find ways of bypassing Stone evolutions. There had been little progress. When he passed the machine cloning the Master Ball, he stopped again. He glanced at the team working on the machine. There was a large canister beside it, holding a multitude of black and white Rocket Master Balls. These could accomplish what no other ball could - steal a Pokemon and steal it without fail. His heart swelled with pride.
With Mai in possession of one, he was sure to succeed.

Laughing happily as they took off into the air Robin looked around at the ground and everything excitedly. On the head of Bahamut Luffy was bouncing excitedly his tail holding on for him. occasionally he would swing around the head and hang upside-down. Over all they both were enjoying themselves immensely. "Afraid of heights?" Robin giggled slightly before squeezing him a bit. "Well I can hold onto you to make sure you don't fall."
Continuing to watch the landscape pass them by for a while Robin almost missed it when Kilik asked his question. "Oh defiantly. I wouldn't miss that for the world. I can't wait! He must have discovered a bunch of new things." She paused slightly before asking. "If it's ok do you mind trading pokenav number's with me? I mean it's ok if you don't want to and all."
Swinging around on Bahamut Luffy was pretty much making a nuisance of himself. Laughing he covered the Flygon's goggles with his hands wondering if it would mess up her flying ability. On his head Hat was held on securely so there was no chance of having it fly off of his head anymore.

To go along with Luffy's little game, Bahamut seemed to falter whenever her eyes were covered, but would manage to keep herself steady (mostly for Kilik's sake). She let out a shrill, yet somehow peaceful laugh whenever Luffy put his hands over her eyes.
Kilik laughed, placing his hand on top of hers, patting it lightly. "Deathly afraid of heights, actually. But at least you've got a good grip on me!" He ran his hands down Flygon's neck, his fingers tingling beneath her cool skin. A chill ran down his spine. "Sure! I'll trade Nav numbers with you. I was going to ask you the same thing once we landed." Kilik sat up a bit and dug around in his pockets for his Nav. It wasn't there.
A strike of panic went through him. Surely he didn't leave it somewhere? He moved her hands off of his waist and brought his bag into his lap, unzipping it. He clutched his coat and the pajamas he had for dear life. Aha! There it was, at the very bottom of his bag. With a sigh of relief, Kilik pulled the device out and stuffed his clothes back in with a huff. "Alright, you see the plug at the top?" he held it over his shoulder and pointed at it, "Plug in the bottom of your Nav into that socket. The number trade off will be instant." He would've done it himself or at least participated in it with her, but his hands were shaking badly. Note to self...never let go of Flygon. He placed his hands on the Pokemon's neck again to keep them from moving.

"Figures," Keegan sighed, shrugging his shoulders as he came up to the ticket booth, and paid for his ticket, following along behind Kasiya as she walked along the platform. He gestured towards the ramp, indicating that he wanted her to go first. After she'd boarded, he also handed his ticket over, and boarded as well. The train was surprisingly full of passengers for this time of day, and he did suspect that a good many of them were heading to Slateport a few days early in order to beat the rush that would inevitably bring many more trainers to the Beach Party.
They'd found a place to sit, and had only just gotten comfortable when an older couple sat down nearby, both smartly dressed and carrying briefcases and cases that were obviously for laptop computers. They'd been chatting to each other excitedly about something, but stopped when they'd found their seats. It wasn't until the train had started to move forward when they picked up their conversation once more. Keegan couldn't quite hear every word, but he did make out something about a seminar and a renowned professor and a big discovery or an announcement or something like that - after all, the pair was talking quite fast, and he didn't exactly want to eavesdrop on them. He looked towards Kasiya, not saying anything, but he tilted his head as if to ask if she'd heard any of their conversation at all.

Luffy loved the fact that Bahamut was playing with him. Laughing he swung around some more clearly not afraid running all over the Flygon with out a care in the world. If Kilik decided to look at the small Aipom he would probably get sick.
Grinning at Kilik over his shoulder she reached over easily taking the Nav from him with one hand. " Thank you very much." That safely in her hands Robin easily found her own pokenav in her pockets. The tip of her tounge peaking out of her mouth as she concentrated on staying on the Flygon and connecting the two. Watching the two screens two small Pidgey's on them exchanging each other's information. After a second the information was traded and Robin disconnected the phones. "There we go!" She chirped happily and was about to hand the nav back to Kilik when Luffy dashed by and grabbed it from her hands. "Luffy!" She exclaimed embarrassed at her pokemon's actions.
The small Aipom just chattered and rested himself back on Bahamut's head his tail wrapped around her neck now as he fiddled with the Pokenav.

Kilik looked over his shoulder as soon as Luffy nabbed the Pokenav and turned his head forward so quickly that it sort of hurt. "Luffy," he complained, "Could I have that back?" He held out his hand and kind of wiggled his fingers. Then he leaned forward and quickly snatched the Nav back into his grasp. "Aha!" he snickered. I wasn't a Team Rocket member for nothing. I've got skiiiill. Kilik thought. He shuddered.
These thoughts about him and Team Rocket were all the more frequent now that he was spending time with Robin. Was he trying to impress himself or her? He hated the group, and everything about them. Yet, he's treating his time with them as if it were his crowning achievement in life. Kilik scratched his nose and checked the clock on his Nav.
"We'd better hurry. Your Bug-catching Contest starts in an hour." He tapped Flygon's sides with his heels. The Pokemon seemed to know what that meant. She stretched forward to streamline her body once more and moved through the air faster than before. Kilik also held on a lot tighter than before.

Luffy was a bit disappointed that his toy was snatched away from him. Lucky for Kilik though he also had a severe case of A.D.D. and promptly forgot about it as they started to fly faster. The small Aipom just laughed happily bending down to reduce his wind resistance as he rode on Bahamuts head.
"Oh yeah the contest!" Robin was blushing a bit, she had honestly forgotten all about the contest in her excitement about the seminar. Now that she was thinking about it again she felt herself starting to grow excited. She had no idea what kind of cool bug pokemon they would catch. Whoever or whatever they decided to go after. In all likely hood Luffy would see something he wanted and would chase after that. Robin would just follow along and hopefully catch him before he made to much of a mess. She wasn't to worried though, Luffy had good taste when it came to these kinds of things. At the very least the Aipom would pick a pokemon he would get along with. That thought in mind Robin just smiled and held onto Kilik as they flew across the sky.

With his Nav safely in his pocket and his hands clamped onto Flygon, Kilik felt pretty sure of himself up there. The boy took a quick glance down at the ground. They were right over Goldenrod City. "Bahamut! Fly a little bit more north to the Park. That's where we're stopping!" he called out over the rushing wind.
The Flygon nodded and let out a squeal as she flew a little slower. She looked down at the ground below to see all the people looking up at her. Sure, it was only a few citizens, but the recognition was nice. People noticed her. She felt like a star. Bahamut began her decent once they passed over the North Exit from Goldenrod onto Route 35.
The decent was his least favorite part. Kilik held on tighter than ever, if it were possible, and clamped his eyes shut. When he felt the thud of Flygon's weight on the ground, he opened them slowly. A sigh of relief escaped him. He was going to get used to this flying thing whether he liked it or not. "Well, here's our stop, Robin," he said, hopping off Bahamut. A little bit of dust kicked up around where he landed. Kilik held out his hand to help her down. "Good luck in your Contest," he smiled at her. It was one of his genuine 'I shall catch you later' smiles.

Upon being released from her Pokeball, Sparkle ran around in a figure-8 shape, the little lightbulb on her tail lighting up in excitement each time she passed Miharu. "Calm down, Sparkle," Miharu laughed, bending down to pat the Mareep's soft, woolly head. "It's time for training, not playing."
Giving a little bleat, the electric sheep looked up at her trainer and nodded before turning towards the Bulbasaur, who'd been waiting patiently the entire time. "Okay Lily, I just want you to defend yourself. Sparkle needs to work on her accuracy... a bit... so... yeah," she chuckled, checking her watch. The contest didn't start for a while yet, and so far she hadn't spotted anyone who looked as though they were waiting for it to begin. Another surge of excitement passed through the small girl's body as she thought about it, and she turned to her Pokemon eagerly. "Sparkle, I want you to Tackle Lily, got it?" After the little sheep gave a nod, she raised her hand. "Go!"
Sparkle began to charge forward, little bits of static building up on her body as she ran at the Bulbasaur. She grit her teeth and jumped forward, fully prepared to ram into her target. All looked pretty good, up until the point where Lily merely moved to the side, and Sparkle ended up tackling the cluster of grass directly behind the spot where Lily had previously been standing.
"This is gonna be tougher than I thought...." Miharu sighed, slapping her forehead with her palm.

Sparkle jumped up from her failed attack, looking towards Miharu sadly. A disheartened bleat escaped her throat, and she sat down, crying loudly. Lily, looking embarrassed by her teammate's actions, moved away from her, pretending to be interested in a nearby patch of flowers instead. "Oh Sparkle," Miharu sighed, walking over to her crying Pokemon and picking her up, "it's all right, sweetie. Don't cry... you just have to try again, okay?" Sparkle sniffled but nodded, hopping down from her trainers arms and turning towards the distracted Bulbasaur. "Try again, Sparkle! Tackle!"
Sparkle gave a cry and dashed forward, growling at Lily as she ran. Lily didn't seem to notice, though, as she was busy sniffing at the flowers, and was promptly tackled to the ground by Sparkle, sending the two of them rolling across the ground in a green, woolly mass. When the two finally came to a stop, Sparkle got to her feet, cheering proudly as she hopped around a dazed-looking Lily.
"You did it, Sparkle! Good job!" Miharu called out, trying not to laugh as the Bulbasaur shot a very dirty look her way. "Hey, don't look at me like that, Lily! You should have been paying attention!" Sparkle bleated happily, bouncing over to Lily and giving her a gentle nuzzle, which broke the Bulbasaur's annoyed look and caused her to smile too. This made Miharu happy - if her Pokemon could get along and be friends, it would make working and battling together a very easy thing for them all.
