Bailey did not speak as Erin joined up with the small group. She removed her glasses from her face, causing her vision to blur and wiped the lenses clean with her blouse before placing them back on sharpening her vision once more. Roulin knew nothing about her power. He didn't have to live with it for ten years. Who was he to tell her when her powers should be under control? She bit her tongue against a spiteful retort. Besides, his attention was on Erin at the moment who appeared to be on the verge of an emotional breakdown. The Vector Owl was tempted to rip the collar off of her neck and smash it on the ground then and there. But as there were civilians around, she refrained from doing so. Still, she couldn't help, but wonder if Erin would be accompanying them. If she did, Bailey hoped that she would at least keep a safe distance and hide somewhere.

Upon hearing Nik's reply through the door, Anya scowled. She was becoming more ashamed and humiliated by the second. She didn't want Nik finding out about the voices from earth in her head. He'd probably just worry even more. Then again, her locking herself in her room was probably also worrying him. Dammit! Anya couldn't do anything without Nikolai ending up worrying! It was so frustrating! "Ugh!" Anya went over to the door and unlocked it, but she kept it shut. Nik was perfectly capable of opening the door on his own. As soon as she had done this, Anya turned away from the door so Nikolai wouldn't be able to see her face or how embarrassed and humiliated she felt at the moment.

It was a good thing that Kate did not hear what Che's retort was to her comment about his former afro. Because if she had, bad things would have ensued for Che. Anyway, It didn't take that long for Kate to find her way back to the casino main entrance. Once outside, the Eternity Owl sighed. It was good to be out of that casino where there was smoke in the air from cigarettes and cigars, noises from other gaming machines and tables, and the crowds. Kate then started walking away from the casino doors a bit and stopped not too far down the sidewalk. When she found a spot along the wall, Kate stopped and leaned back against it, staring up at the sky as she waited for Che to come out of the casino with their cash prize.

Erin noticed Roulin's sneer in her direction, but said nothing about it. Nor did any hint of shame cross her features as she continued to smile. Though, she was sure Roulin was already aware of how troubled she was. His abilities to do that were already known by her and the rest of the night owls. As such, she didn't say anything about it. Instead of caving in and telling what was happening, Erin simply smiled a little wider when Roulin asked if she was done being sad. "Sad?" Erin replied, playing the innocent role even though internally she was embarrassed and surprised at having been pegged so easily in what she was feeling. "What makes you think I'm sad, Roulin?" She knew she might just be asking for trouble with that question, but it was just a force of habit from having the same question being asked to her by her sister and others in the past.

It wasn't just Roulin that sensed when something was wrong with other people emotionally. Roulin was definitely different since coming to New Orleans from Rome two months ago. He had been going around collecting more powers, sometimes in the most vicious of ways, just to get stronger. Erin objected to his methods, but never voiced her opinion on the matter because she hadn't thought to with everything else on her mind.

Itachi laughed at all of wills comments and was glad he hadnt changed. Afterall what was the devil without god? Itachi didnt know and he supposed he never would and he was content with that. " Well I have not gone through your level of training in 2 months or so of course you would think i gained weight. Dont worry I can burn calories fast if you think its a big issue. Though with you I should be worried with what you qualify as a big deal I suppose. So since I assume che will be giving the orders as leader of our little band did he say what the next move should be? Thanks to Raven and Thomas were practically the enemies of humans and owls alike not a got spot to be in. Allthough you Will are probably finding this all to be quite enjoyable. Especially when compared to earlier years." stated itachi as he awaited wills response.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nova meanwhile the full metal owl was also battling soldiors with Raven's forces among the East flank. He had recently arrived on this front after returning from his training and getting hold of a special custom made outfit that was both bullet and blade resistant as well as resistant to the elements since he didnt know what kind of enemy he might face. It also didnt restrict his movement allthough this meant it didnt cover his head and offer complete protection. To get around that he used a special especially strong metal to form a helmet and complete body armor to cover him head to toe, which he would take on and off with his metal powers. Making his nickname of the full metal owl all the more fitting.

As nova joined the battle he smirked as bullet after bullet bounced off his armor unable to damage it as any slight damage to it was repaired by nova's power before it showed to others. He then laughed out loud which caught several soldiors off guard as suddenly there bullets stopped in midair before flying backwards into the humans who shot them killing many of them as he raised his left hand next. The guns of many of the troops suddenly flew from there hands and into the air as they turned around to face the human ranks before firing all there ammo into the human ranks as other owls joined nova in the attack using there own powers. He clapped his hands together sending tnaks and other nearby armored vehicles to slam together and crunch up into balls as they suddenly exploded outwards like large grenades into the humans. Blood was splattered everywhere as limbs were torn off and bodys were mangled heaps from the carnage brought upon them. With there forces pushing the humans back now nova sent a message to raven through his phone to hers letting her know that he was back from training and had joined the battle on the East flank.

Roulin could see his breath now in the air before him. The last time he was in an atmosphere this cold, many lives were lost due to some fight or other. The young Owl's mind had long forgotten as every other week, he was whisked away to somewhere else to fight either some random Owl, some random bunch of Owls, some humans or Raven and her ever growing team. Before lulling himself into a bout of anger, he stopped. The sensation of anger he felt must've been coming from Bailey who seemed to be taking his words to heart. To some degree, Roulin felt her reaction was the right one as it meant that she acknowledged the truth behind it all. That she was in need of some kind of help here. While that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, he only hoped she wasn't mad at him and him only.

"What makes me think you're mad Erin? I really wouldn't know where to begin..." replied Roulin as he nodded disapprovingly at the girl's coy reply. Erin, as far as Roulin could tell, was a special case. More emotional than Bailey, and equally as mental. That meant she wouldn't be flying off the handle as her decision making, the young man hoped, was just as good as Bailey's. Giving a sigh now, Roulin decided responded in a less a**l manner. "I have to give you the same message I gave Bailey here. We're both here to help you Erin. We're all Owls here so it might be best if we all tried to.....help each other I suppose. You don't have be secretive as long as you're with us alright? If you do, then I'll just read your mind and find out for myself. Got it?"

Che wasted no time in cashing in the poker chips that held the eyes of each greedy little soul that infested the darkened casino. Somewhere, Will was laughing at their failures and so were his three little minions. They could leave just as easily as he was about to, but they had no self-control. Coin after coin was slipped into the machine that, in their own rhythmic chime, laughed at their follies. The Mastering Owl had had his fill of this. Now, it was time to leave with his money.

Exiting the casino with rubber banded bundles of money, Che didn't need to search long before finding Kate. Like the stoic chick she was, she was leaned against the wall rather close to the entrance. Due to her proximity to the entrance, she reminded Che of a bouncer he'd had a run in with many, many years ago. Unlike the female from his past, Che didn't want to fight Kate just to see if he could win. To get her attention, he manipulated a few of bundled hundred dollar bills to float inches from Kate's face in the shape of a heart. Certainly, the Casanova Owl wished to see Kate's lips curl into an appreciative smile. After all, manipulating money wasn't easy. He also hoped that Kate would take on the role of managing all of the money...the last thing he wanted to do was spend it willy nilly.

Nikolai held in a sigh when he heard Anya sigh in frustration. When she unlocked the door, he slowly opened the door and shut it behind himself. He looked at Anya, who had her back to him, and smiled slightly, not anywhere close to his normal grin. "Look, Anya, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you angry or anything. I was just worried, that's all." He walked forward and placed his hand on her shoulder gently. "You know you can tell me if anything is wrong. I'm here for you if anything happens, you know that." Nik wasn't sure what was wrong, but he didn't like being left in the dark; if Anya just told him, he would be able to relax a little, but her keeping it from him just made him tense. Nik paused for a few moments and then asked quietly, "Are you going to tell me what's wrong? Maybe I can help somehow..."

The cold and snow didn't bother Erin very much. She was used to it by now. However, what she wasn't used to was the way Roulin replied to her. It hurt her feelings a bit with the tone he used. Couldn't he use less harsh words to get his point across? Erin supposed not, but that didn't mean she wasn't hurt by his words. "I know what you're trying to do, Roulin, I understand why. And I am happy to know that other people are willing to help me. However..." Erin answered simply, her smile gone for the moment. But she did not show any sort of hurt on her face. She just kept her expression rather close to neutral. Though, her eyes now told the sad feelings behind them clearly as she gazed wistfully past Bailey and Roulin towards the direction they had been heading before running into her.

Taking her sunglasses off her face so Roulin and Bailey could see her eyes for once, Erin looked away from the two of them and to the left. "... Understand when I tell you that I would rather not burden you or anyone else with my own personal problems at the moment. They are minor compared to whatever else is going on. As such, I'm not afraid to have you read my mind to find out." Erin paused and looked back towards the Owl of Life, "Think about it, Roulin. Would you really want to hear, or read if you decide to do that, what's really on my mind? Do you, in fact, care to do so at all? You do have your own ambitions and desires you are working towards. I have noticed your change in demeanor: it is more cold and emotionless. So would you really even care about a word I say or think for that matter?"

Of course, Erin was capable of blocking Roulin from reading her mind, but she wouldn't tell him that. She had long since learned how to keep her mind shut off from other psychics' infiltration, especially her sister. Even if Roulin was more powerful than her in every other way, Erin would still try to keep him from reading her mind. Though, if this discussion went any further, or Roulin actually got curious or annoyed enough to continue badgering her without bringing her self esteem down, Erin might just end up breaking down and telling him without him having to read her mind at all.

After about five minutes of waiting, Kate looked back down at her feet. It was a little annoying, how long Che was taking with getting the money, but Kate knew she would have to tolerate the waiting. And she wouldn't have to wait much longer. This was evidenced by floating bundles of cash in front of her face which were shaped into a heart. Startled a little by this, Kate blinked and stared at the small show of affection from Che, whom she could see was only a few feet away from her. He was smiling at her like he always did, and waiting for some kind of reaction from her.

Letting out small sigh, Kate shook her head slowly with her eyes closed as she tried her best not to smile at the silliness of the situation. Even though she tried not to smile, there was a faint hint of one on her lips. "Che Presidiomini, you can be so strange..." Kate said simply before taking hold of the floating bundles of money and looking over at the grinning Che. "...Especially when you try so very hard be charming." Granted, Kate was appreciative of the gesture, but she of course went about saying it in a round-about manner as per her personality. "Are you quite finished with cashing in on the winnings?" she asked afterward, switching back into her usual demeanor, the brief look of appreciation and maybe happiness disappearing.

While Nikolai entered the room, Anya finally noticed the small damage she had done to her hand when punching the wooden door. 'Crap!' she thought as she hastily crossed her arms to try to hide her injured hand so that Nik wouldn't see it. He was worried enough as it was. This thing with her hand was enough to distract her from being angry at Nik so that the next time she spoke, she wasn't as angry. "Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand. It's a complicated Herald thing." Anya replied, turning around to look at Nik a frown on her face again. She figured that once she started explaining those damn voices from the earth in her head, the Dancing Owl would probably start asking questions because it was confusing or whatever. "Besides, its not like its fixable in any way. Unless you can somehow talk to plants." Anya added in an annoyed tone and shrugging Nik's hand off her shoulder. She had every right to sound annoyed, but she wasn't annoyed with Nik at the moment. It was with the whispering and singing and stuff in her head that she was angry about.

Receiving Che's message, Victoria rolled her eyes. So you're gambling, great Che I see you've learned how to cope in a time of crisis. You know I wouldn't contact you if it wasn't important. The shift of power has occured, I wanted to know what were your plans on killing Timothy, he's the last original herald left who wants to see me dead...well other than Rage/Darkness. What I'm saying we need to strike Timothy while he is down she projected to Che. It seemed harsh but Victoria was still trying to look out for her life as well.

Pushing Aiden along she followed behind Cecilia until they were in the shark exhibit. Looking at the different kinds of sharks, Aiden began to get quite. It was clear the young boy had a mixture of curiosity and fear in his eyes. Aeon looked over towards Cecilia. "Are you okay Cecilia?" she asked the cosmic OWL. While Aeon's attention was on Cecilia, a small crack had formed at the base of the glass that wasn't visible to the eye. Slowly water began to sift out.

Getting bored after her meal, Elle left the house and began to walk around town. The young technopath had a lot on her mind. She did miss her sister but her sister betrayed her. They were designed for one purpose and one purpose only. Divide the teams and destroy the rest of the OWLs. Elle could see everything through everyone's eyes as of now. She didn't interfere because now was not the time to strike...it may have even taken up to twenty years for her mission to be accomplished but everything was about timing.

She took a seat near a fountain as she looked into the clear water. Glancing at her reflection she smiled. She could see her sister, she did miss the company of her sister, but she had made her decision. A young man had been glancing at Elle from afar as he walked up to her. "Excuse me ma'am but may I sit here?" he asked her. Elle looking at the man was silent. She shook her head as he took a seat next to the technopath OWL.

Vincent heard the alarms go off as he worried. It was too early for Amara to be executing her plan. He ran to the nearby tower to check in with the other guards. Many were in a frantic. "Excuse me, but what's going on?" Vincent asked. "We have an escapee...a woman" he said. As the words set on Vincent's ears he automatically knew it was Amara. Vincent had to make a decision and quick, extending his arms everyone in the room was frozen in place. Grabbing a couple of guns and explosives, Vincent stuffed them in his bag.

Looking around he took a card key that belonged to a higher up. I just hope Amara doesn't get killed before she meets up with me Vincent thought to himself. A group of guards rushed in to see Vincent was the only person not frozen in place. Releasing a wave of bullets, Vincent began to freeze and avoid the bullets. Shattering some people's legs while they were standing on them, Vincent striked with quick preciseness. As more men began to flood the building, Vincent caused the wall to shatter as the half of the room he was in began to fall downwards. Vincent had to think fast, as of right now he was falling to his death. Grabbing a gun from his waist, he shot it as a grapple was released, hooking into the side of the tower as Vincent scaled down. Looking upwards, the remainder of the room was incinerated.

"Amara please don't be hurt" he said to himself as he finally reached the ground. He was in an area that only certain personal would be able to go through.

Amara continued to run with the child in her arms. She had to meet Vincent at the secret entrance to the lower levels of the facility. How she wished that she could use her powers just once. Using her left arm she began to fire her gun as she shot a group of guards who were conversing with each other about what they were going to do when they went home. She soon eyed Vincent as she ran towards him. "Vincent I'm glad that you're alright" she said. Handing her the card key he looked at her and the young boy who was with her. She was going to tell Vincent to take the kid to safety but here there was nowhere that was safe. Swiping the card, Vincent proceeded and Amara soon followed. When the door closed Amara continued to walk forward until they reached a balcony. Looking down from the balcony however was like staring into a city abyss. So there was an actual facility under the concentration camps? Amara was going to have fun bringing down this powerhouse, she just prayed that her and Vincent would be able to do it together.

Almost reflexively, Roulin's eyes rolled about when Erin put up her defense. Just as all people with problems tended to do. The flowing haired Owl could admit that he too was guilty of doing the same thing every now and then, but that was only for people he chose to run from. Whether or not Erin knew, there wasn't much one could do when a obstacle was met. The only choices sprawled out to them is to either ignore and let it grow, or to confront it. Of course, the latter choice usually entailed that one had some form of backup to do this. Nobody liked to handle pain or strife alone. When it boiled down to it, and one had to, it only made them regress into their proverbial shell. Roulin was no psychiatrist, but from the looks of it, Erin had an issue she needed to deal with. If she didn't her eyes might keep evolving until they become blood red or reptilian.

Looking forward away from both the girls, Roulin wore a grin. Erin could see half of it she simply looked over. She was too busy being ashamed of her evolution that Roulin though an Owl male should swoon over. "Well now Erin. From that and that alone I can tell that you had no friends at all growing up. Am I right? If you did, they're definitely not here now." In a more straightforward tone, Roulin referred to Noel with his last statement. A part of him was saddened by her death, but he knew she'd want them all to fight on without her. Somewhere, she was looking down upon them along with his mother and everyone lost to this ridiculous war. Whether or not Erin saw that Roulin did care about her feelings was her own problem, but the brazen young man wasn't about to keep quiet about her assumptions.

"I've become more cold and emotionless? Alright, well if that's the case then do you think I would've asked about your feelings and thoughts if I knew that I wouldn't give a damn about your answer? The lot of you are the same sometimes. Unwilling to accept some form of help because you think you'll be a burden. When you get to be a burden....the both of you....I'll let you two know. Until then, I'm not too worried about what you two do around me. Now, what you, Erin, need to understand is that while we're together, I'd at least like to help you. We're both Owls you and I so the smart thing to do would be to stick together and work with each other as best as we can. You're a smart girl right? The concept isn't a tough one." said Roulin, leaving a pause at the end of his statement just for it to sink in. This was redolent of the same speech he'd given Lucien and Raven even when they were breathing down his throat. Roulin's code still remained and he'd help any Owl in need, but if they had a power he believed they weren't using correctly, he'd offer them advice at the cost of it. If they disagree, he'd simply kill them, then take it. Bailey made the right choice. "It's a pretty good walk back to the motel. The time will pass faster if you stop being defensive and contradictory."

~~~
Out of the many rolls of green, kept decided to keep only three of the rubber banded bundles to himself. With it, he could at least afford food, a new suit, new shoes and more. Grinning at the incomes still, Che sauntered over to Kate and leaned against the wall next to the Russian. Closing his eyes at her remarks of him trying to be charming, he chuckled to himself then nodded before opening a single eye to the woman. "That would imply that it's an attempt. Clearly....I don't try. I just do. Besides, like I always say, you know you like it. 'Cept for when it's in the morning. You've proven that you don't like morning antics..." All the while he spoke, Che's lips maintained a calmed, yet steady smirk. This morning had already seen a nice income of money. What better way to start off the day with pockets filled with--
Whether or not Kate noticed the flicker in Che's grin didn't at all matter at this point. The Herald of Mind was talking to him and in an quick fashion, he had to respond. Admittedly, she was rather annoying with her fear of being caught and killed, but so was everyone on the lam. To pull attention away from the occurrence, Che draped his arm over Kate's shoulder and nodded toward the hotel which wasn't exactly a hike away. He hadn't planned on staying in the hotel for long anyways. Only to pick up new clothes before heading off to Will's place. It was about time they went to see him again. Surely, Kate didn't know of Che's plans for today as the casino was a spontaneous choice. Now was the best time to break the news to her. "Well now my dearest Kate, you know what time it is...we have to go see Will. Now before you decide to level something, just know the option to sit outside is still there. If he serves breakfast though, I can't promise a fast meeting."
~Yeah, I try you know? No grey hairs yet~ Che replied with an obligatory remark. Victoria understood the man as she was one of the people she'd known most of her life. His statements surely held no more potency with her. ~The plan I have involves us not going right for Timothy if that makes you feel any better. Besides, he isn't the easiest to track or trap....he, just like everyone else will be in the same place very soon alright? So don't worry your pretty little head off. You're under my watch and nothing will happen to you...~
((Che's UNS - Will - Maha, who are the three little minions?))
And as usual, Itachi laughed like an idiot at Will's words. Sure, the weasel probably found some of it funny, but on the other hand, he probably thought he'd better laugh or would suffer somehow. Why he would have to worry about that when he spoke his next few questions were something to wonder. Itachi still hadn't learned. But all that didn't matter to Will. He was, as Itachi found, still the same devil with or without God."You've gotten even slower than when you began training with me." The Satan Owl leveled his eyes on the Heat Owl. "Yet you still dare to come to me with that attitude, hmm? Didn't even bother trying. Hmph." But the blonde smirked and leaned closer to Itachi's ear. "Hmm...you'll burn something? Start with those people over there." The Satan Owl tilted his head toward a group of people by one of the doors to the room. "Oh, and keep going until everyone that I've marked in the room is dead."
With an all too angelic smile, the Satan Owl took his leave from the party and left the room, dodging Itachi's other questions completely. He shrugged and patted the two men outside flanking one of the doors to the room. "I'll be in my office." He knew Che and Kate were coming to him, and he would have them brought up to his main office in Las Vegas. He waved to a "servant" that he happened across and smiled. "I am expecting some guests. Do make preparations." There would be food and drink available for whatever meal they were on and, oddly or perhaps not, the food and drink would have some of Kate's favorites and Che's favorites.
With a small bounce in his step, the Satan Owl entered his office and closed the door behind him. The style of this room was different from his main office in the other casino in Japan, but it still have an extravagant fancy feel to it. There was, as always, a bar of some type in the room. The carpet in the room was a dark red and in a part of room, there was a black rug and coffee table separating two sofas facing each other. As always, the room had a good view, and as always Will had a nice desk. This one was a mahogany desk.
There was also a big plasma flat screen that could be revealed from behind some wooden panels as well as many other devices. There were other hidden compartments that held weapons too, but they were...quite well hidden. Various art pieces hung on the walls, possibly some hiding hidden spaces. None of the art were photos of people. In fact, the man's office was devoid of photos unless the newspapers and magazines on the tables in the room counted.
Scythe de Zaran
((Other - Genya))
Genya smiled. "Hai!" He nodded as Demi began to drag him inside. Golem-san followed them and probably thought about stoppping by the doorstep to clean off its feet before entering the home. It wasn't until then that the cold hit Genya. "Eto... cold...." He shivered. He almost wanted to make a beeline for a certain room in the house. Like how Demi had made a room in Genya's home his room, Genya had a room in Demi's grandmother's rebuilt house as his laboratory. There were strange things in there although it was mostly all matter based and not living organisms.
But before they made it inside the house, there was a sound and Genya cried out in pain. He looked down and started freaking out. There was blood pouring from his leg and it hurt.
Demios turned as he herd Genya's cry of pain. He was shocked to see the blood from where he had been hit. "Genya!" He yelled as he quickly pulled the young owl towards him. "What the hell was that" He said to himself. He knew he didn't have time to question what was going on. "Hold on alright, I'll have you fixed up as soon as I can" Demios said. He looked at the Golem "Cover us" He said loudly. He then held his hand over the injury "I want you to heal....heal.....HEAL" he said. He frowned knowing it would burn for a few moments as the bullet was forced out and then the skin began to slowly patch itself up. "Don't worry Genya I wont let them hurt you again" He said. He then stood his hands crackling with energy. "Who goes there, who dares attack me here!" He yelled. He held his hand out "razor wind!" He said quietly sending sharp gusts of wind around surrounding him.
As soon as Roulin started speaking, Erin turned her head back to look at him. Her face was neither smiling nor frowning. "You think you know so much about everything because of what you've been through and your status, don't you? My sister and I were raised by two missionaries in a small village in Brazil. Do you think there were many other children our age there? As such, it was only Elle, myself, and the couple who raised us." Erin replied flatly, giving Roulin a hard look as her brow furrowed slightly. He certainly had changed since the incident in Rome, and not in a good way in terms of his attitude. She didn't refer to the couple as her parents here because now she had remembered where she and Elle had come from, and that what Elle had told her was true: they never had birth parents. Of course, those missionaries had treated them like they were their own children, and Erin, unlike Elle, knew that that love was not false.
Roulin's reference to Noel was clear to Erin, and she didn't like the tone he used when referring to her. Noel had been an influence in Erin's life so far to start her in her training. From here on out, Erin began to speak confidently and curtly. She had no idea where the confidence was coming from though. "Unlike Elle, I still believe the Night Owls to be friends, almost a family. She has rejected that for our programming, like a machine. I, however, am not like her. I still value the relationships that have been made between myself and the rest of the Night Owls." Here, Erin paused as if to gather her thoughts, but in reality she was pausing to let her words sink in to that apparently thick skull that surrounded Roulin's brain as of lately. "I am not unwilling to accept help. I know others will help if I ask for it. But do you really feel that now is the right time, amidst everything going on, to address what is on my mind? Yes, my powers have been mutating. Yes, Elle has disowned me as her sister. And yes, I am feeling conflicted about what I should do about everything that I have been thinking about. I have been trying to come up with a way to reconcile my conflicts, both internal and external: to protect those I care about." When she had finished, Erin turned away from Roulin and started heading in the direction of the motel.
Even though Erin had just told Roulin most everything that was on her mind in summation, she didn't care. She just wanted Roulin to actually see what she was going through. Of course, a lot of detail was left out, but that didn't matter. All that matter to Erin right now was that the Life Owl understood what had her so preoccupied these past months, and not just the two and a half they had spent in New Orleans. She had been harboring all of this since Elle had confronted her for revealing her psychic abilities to help them draw the map of the island Exire. It was only after she had finished and was headed away from Roulin and Bailey that Erin realized what she had just done. She knew it was most likely for the best. It felt as though she had just gotten a huge weight off her shoulders. However, now Erin was a little bit nervous about Roulin's reaction to her little speech. He had become so unpredictable since Rome.
Kate noticed a brief hint of a falter in Che's smirk as she had been looking at him when he leaned against the wal next to her. Frowning slightly, Kate could tell that something had happened. She didn't know if it was something in their surroundings, or if something had happened in his mind that jolted him. But what Kate knew was that Che had been ever so briefly interrupted and distracted. "No. I do not like when people are thrown unceremoniously and without warning to land on top of me." Kate replied to Che's first statement as she remembered what had happened a while ago when they were with Will. She couldn't remember when that was or where they had been, but it didn't matter at the moment.
Before she could ask Che anything about what was going through his mind though, he had already draped an arm over her shoulders and began leading her back towards the hotel where they had been staying. She opened her mouth a little to begin to ask before Che suddenly said that they should go see that annoying b*****d of a Satan Owl. Kate scowled. "Oh really? Can we not just leave William DeScythe behind for good? He has been nothing but a nuisance in general." she suggested, bitterness in her tone because they were going to go see Will soon. "Do not worry yourself about me. I am perfectly capable of protecting myself against anything which he might throw in my direction, whether it be physical or verbal."
Bailey listened silently as Erin and Roulin exchanged words with a stoic expression upon her tiny porcelien-like face. If one were to delve deep into her mind, they would discover that she had taken a neutral stance not agreeing nor disagreeing with one or the other. Having not really known Roulin before his so called change after Rome, she could not judge him, nor could she judge Erin as well for she had not know her before either. Still, even though she did not speak, her mind was processing many thoughts. The Vector Owl listened as Roulin and Erin exchanged veiled insults at one another. This was getting them nowhere fast. Taking a step forward, Bailey spoke in a voice loud enough for Erin to hear.
"I may not know anything about what happened in your past, but I do know what it's like to suffer losses. In fact, I know we've all suffered. You, me, Roulin, The Heralds....We've all lost something. We've all changed whether it be for better or worse. I know you are strong and will find some way to figure things out. But if you do need help, don't deny it. Let us help you. Roulin..." She glared in the purple-eyed Life Owl's direction. "Roulin may be an egotistical a*****e, but I think that in those veiled insults of his...he is trying to help you in a way." Bailey then turned to Roulin. "You, Roulin, need to learn that you can't help everyone and if there are people who choose not to accept your help, let them be. Perhaps they have found a solution already and are keeping it to themselves rather than letting it known whether it be in their thoughts or out loud. You may be powerful, but there are others out there more powerful than you. You are not some god. Remember that." Bailey had spoken her peace. Whether they chose to listen to her, laugh, or ignore her was now up to them. But she knew that these insults had been doing them no good.
Cecilia's thoughts had completely taken over everything else that she almost didn't hear Aeon come up behind her and speak. It was only when Aiden let out a cry of protest upon seeing the menacing, yet graceful sharks were her thoughts broken. She turned her head and smiled at the aunt and her tiny nephew before redirecting her eyes back towards the tank. Was she really all right? Was she? She had wanted a normal life. When she found out that she was an Owl, it was hard to cope with it at first, but she thought that perhaps she could still have some-what of a normal life.
Yet that all changed after she had killed Adam and taken his place as the Herald of Gravity. She knew that it was up to her to keep the gravity of this planet in balance of be forced to watch as everyone in the world was crushed by sheer and agonizing gravitational pressure. She had done everything she could to make sure that her emotions remained steady while learning to control her newfound abilities. But what now? What would happen now? They couldn't live this normal life forever. They had to stop pretending. There was a war happening out there. They all had their own part in it no matter how great or small. Cecilia was about to turn to Aeon and answer her question when a small trickle of water caught her eye. She stood from the bench and walked over towards it. The dim lights made it very hard on her vision, but as her jade green eyes peered down at the tank, she caught a glimpse of a small crack.
While it might not have looked dangerous, Cecilia knew of what could happen if it was allowed to remain unattended. Turning to Aeon, she spoke in an authoritative voice. "I need you to go find someone who works here. Tell them that there is a crack in the shark tank. It may not look worrisome for now, but the crack could grow bigger and the amount of water could add pressure to the glass since it's leaking out more and more. That could cause the glass to burst. I'll see if I can stop the tank from leaking anymore." She said all of this in a calm voice for she was sure the problem could be fixed, but it needed to be fixed now before it got worse. Turning to the tank, she extended the palm of her left hand towards the crack and began to compress the water that was trickling out and push it back in attempting to prevent more from coming out. It seemed to be working quite well so far, but she would rather the problem be fixed for she didn't feel like staying here indefinitely just to keep a tank from leaking.
The immature Italian still laughed when that particular moment of Kate's discomfort was brought up. His usual phrase for her I know you like(d) it wouldn't work here. Hell, when he was thrown atop her by his loving mentor Will, Che himself began to worry about the woman. While Che wasn't a heavy person, he was still a full grown man. Him falling on anyone, he was sure, would do some damage. Patting her shoulder comfortingly, he looked over to her wearing an apologetic grin. "It won't happen again okay? I promise. I won't go to sleep around him anymore."
"No we can't leave him silly....we sorta need him. Some of us actually like having him around." said Che referring to himself...or everyone but Kate. The harder she scowled, the more the slick haired man's grin seemed to grow. The last thing on his mind was finding new ways to annoy Kate, especially since most things just came either on a whim, or by chance. But, until this fight was over, he hoped she'd learn to tolerate Will somehow. "Are you sure? Because you're a reactive little minx you are. If Will says something to you, I bet you'll snap back at him.......would you like to make this a game? Bets? Think it over as I put on better clothes." In little to no time at all, the dark duo had made it back to the rather ritzy hotel. Their being able to stay there no doubt was the work of the Satan Owl himself. Las Vegas was known as Sin City, so surely whatever went on here whether it be underground or in plain sight was probably the work of Satan himself.
Roulin hadn't lifted his attention from Erin as she told what essentially the story of her life. Half of him could understand perfectly how she felt when Noel and the rest of The Night Owls entered her life. He was sure that at first she was shy, but as time went along, she managed to find a nice niche for herself. News of Noel's death must've rocked her world and that coupled with the broken 'programming' of her sister, her life must've spiraled out of control. Her red eyes which Roulin thought marked both her pain and elusive passions was just a sign of the times for her. Pondering her speech, the Owl of Life found his features pulling into a smile. As he trudged through the snow, he processed more of what she said and in moments came to a conclusion.
Because Erin had been so nice as to finally speak up about the issues that plagued her, Roulin decided to return the favor. "If you must know, I think now is the best time to address what's on your mind. Of course you're with two other people I doubt you've ever had an extended conversation with, but still Erin. We're all Owls here. There needs be some kind of understanding between everyone of our kind, understand?" replied the violet eyed young man. The motel was finally in view and in a few more moments, they'd be relaxing in the room as Roulin made reservations for a better place. This motel had too many roaches for the Life Owl and the ceiling would leak something fierce when it wanted to. "To protect those you care about huh? When anyone gets to that point in their understanding of their mission, they have a choice. How they go about it decides who they are forever. At least that's what I think. I reached that point two years ago....I've decided to help those I love, but by my own means. I'd say you're more afraid of what you'll become if you take the path than just the mission itself. Once again, that's what we're for whether or not you know it."
Oddly enough, Bailey couldn't have put it any better. At this point, Roulin knew what his attitude was and how it affected those around him. He was an empath after all. What both the girl's failed to realize, or maybe they've realized it, was that Roulin understood his choice. While he held nothing but contempt for it, he knew what it had to do to attain the power needed to protect other and live in this world peacefully. The girl's words seemed to imply that she only wanted to help. Roulin had enough help two months ago. Shrugging at her little speech, he began to walk faster. "A God? Please woman, I don't want to be a God. At the end of the day, I know what I am. The same as you...the same as her...the same as everyone. Just someone trying to live and grow. Now c'mon. I'm going to get us a better place to stay...this place sucks a**."
"Can you really blame me for my reactions? Every word uttered by William DeScythe is purposefully insulting to the person he is speaking to." Kate replied to Che as they reached the hotel. It was a very expensive and upscale hotel too. Of course, it was due to Will's influence that she and Che were able to stay there at all. But as long as they had some place to stay, Kate wasn't going to complain... too much. "I cannot believe you enjoy that pest's company..." Kate muttered with a frown. She knew that Che must be finding her every reaction amusing. "Why would you want to torment me by making my reactions to Will a game? You know that as soon as DeScythe hears of this 'game', he will purposely and vigorously pursue some end which will result in me losing my patience entirely with him."
Erin stopped walking as soon as Bailey started speaking to her. A small gentle and sad smile appeared on her face as she turned around to look at Bailey. "I didn't say that I was refusing any help, Bailey. I'm simply explaining to both of you what's going on with me."
As she continued walking towards the motel with Roulin and Bailey, Erin fiddled with her sunglasses that she had bought in Rome upon Roulin's reply. "How can you say that when you only know half of the story, Roulin... My sister and I... we are merely constructs, made by humans. We share some similarities with Owls, but yet we are not truly Owls in the sense that you know. We are for the most part organic: look like normal people, talk like them. But at the same time we're not. The programming... The programming our creators gave to Elle and I is the destruction of all Owls, regardless of status..." Erin paused briefly, considering what she had just said in her mind. Her programming was telling her to follow in the footsteps of her sister even during this conversation. It was a thought she had been having for the past two and a half months. But now, knowing the Night Owls and other Owls personally, Erin was doing everything she could to resist the programming. Even right at that moment. She didn't want to become like Elle, a machine that followed the will of a program. She wanted to make her own choices and not be told what to do. Her programming is what had caused her and Elle to torture and kill people, like their adopted parents, and that was not what Erin wanted to do.
"Our telepathy... That was a secret Elle and I shared our entire life since we left Brazil. We promised each other we wouldn't tell that to anyone else. But when Cecilia needed help transcribing the blueprint of Exire... I wanted to help, to prove myself, I suppose. Even though I helped everyone with that, Elle hated me for it because I broke our promise." Erin gave a tiny sheepish, yet sad, smile as she looked down at her feet. "She said she would forgive the broken promise if I helped her with the mission we were programmed to start with: to widen the expanse of our hive mind by acquiring the mental capabilities of other telepaths. But because of past events, I refused. I also couldn't remember what Elle was talking about at the time. Because of that broken promise, Elle no longer considers me her sister. Even though we share the same DNA...
"It wasn't until we reached Rome that my powers started mutating. It must be from some kind of other underlying program, but I'm not sure. It started with headaches, fevers, and the eyes. Also, I lost several weeks of sleep while in Rome due to nightmares. That was not generated from the mutations though. That was Elle, tormenting me for my refusal to follow orders. After a while, I was able to put up enough of a defense to keep out the nightmares. I couldn't remember the programming and missions until the battle at Rome. I guess I took enough of a hit at one point to have it kicked into start-up mode. Even now, it's tough for me to resist that programming..."
Erin stopped talking then. She figured she may have said too much and Bailey and Roulin may become overwhelmed by the influx of information they were getting from her.
