"We all know it doesn't work that way! It's one strike, that's it, no loopholes. I've already disobeyed my one order and there's no salvation from that!" Van said, the 'energies' soon realizing it as well.He'd already come to terms that he was going to kick the bucket. These attempts were futile and weren't helping. "Mala, I'm sorry....I'm sorry I couldn't give you a proper tour of heaven, and that we couldn't have that big wedding you wanted...More than that, I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to live out eternity together, or have our own family..." he tightened his hug around her, tears falling from his eyes as his body continued to vanish little by little.

Hekate growled and held off the process again. "I will absorb all of heaven if that's what it takes to save you," Hekate said. "I don't particularly like you, but you don't deserve to die... unseal Atius. Get him to repeal the order. I think that'll work."

Mala began to get even angrier. "NononononononoNO. I am not letting this happen! We fixed the pillars, we can fix this!" exclaimed Mala, who refused altogether to believe that something like this would happen. "Damn it! It shouldn't even be you being punished for this! Even if you accepted the thought of that fat b*****d sleeping with me - I would never let such a thing happen! I'd sooner pierce a blade through my beating heart and die right then and there!"

"Mala, it's. Too. Late." Van said, half gone by now. "Even if it was a lie, I would never give anyone, especially not Atius, permission to have his way with you. Just give me some time, I'm sure I can crawl out of the underworld eventually."

Mala fought back tears, pulling away slightly to look him in the eyes. "Damn it, I'm not giving up on you. Even if you do die, I'll dig my way down there and pull you back out! I refuse to just sit by and do nothing! I'm tired of being useless!"

Hekate growled and let the energies go. "I'll have a few words with Azel. The god of death and I are... well, we have an understanding between us. We'll get you out, Van."

"I promise, you're not useless." Van said as he lifted a hand to caress her cheek with a sad smile. He knew from the start something like this would happen, but didn't tell her for just this reason. Things would have just been more difficult if she flipped on him. "Don't worry though, I'll find my way back to you someday."

"You better not be lying to me. You better not just stay dead and forget about me..." Mala looked over to Hemate and smiled faintly. "Thank you for all you're doing. I only wish I knew how to repay you both." After this she turned to Van and muttured, "But for now, just let me have one last kiss - okay, Van?"

Van didn't say another word. He just pressed his lips against hers in one last kiss, the most passionate he could give as tears streaked down his cheeks. He held it for as long as he could, using his last few moments to part from her and whisper with one last sad smile "I love you, Mala." before only fading, golden sparkles filled the air where he once stood.

{So...what now? Do we end it on such a sad note and make a triquel? Continue on with Van's rescue as the plot? Or...what?}
"I love you too, Van." Mala muttured, fearing it to be too late for him to have heard her as he faded away. She looked downward, where Van once stood, and simply stared dully.

((Are you kidding me? I would never be so cruel as to kill off my Van without a plan to bring him back! mrgreen ))
No idea what to say, Riley silently walked over and just gave his sister a comforting hug.

((Make a triquel so I don't have to deal with two hundred pages of previous RP. :3))
Angel hugged both of them, somber for the first time in a long while. "Van was nice," she said sadly.

{Okay! Also, my dad blew the computer away - so there is no more virus anymore. Before I go on internetz on it again, though, I'm making sure to get some firewall first.}
"We'll get him back. If not, I'll die trying." Mala said calmly, dully. "I refuse to let things end like this."

((YAAAAY~! *does Kermit the Frog arm flail* And now, because I suck at climaxes...)) "Sweet Jiminy Christmas, it's about time someone sealed up that tub of lard!" came a voice before a man with glasses appeared nearby. It was Azel, the god of death himself, with a tattered, leather bound book and black quill tucked under one arm. "Yeesh, woulda been here sooner, but all the prisons apparently decided it was spring cleaning day for death row."
