Aldo: It doesn't hurt my computer when the animated owl is running. Plus you can turn it off in your Account Settings (just like you can turn off Aquariums). Why else would you block flash?
Pyre: Uh, unless you mean RIGs in the cash shop which isn't really gambling since the user is getting an item anyway. I was referring to more or less the Casino we have on Gaia.
Edit: I've heard animated items don't un-animate in guilds, though.

http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/politics/Miami_Budget_Crisis_Miami.htmlCrap. And is this a freaking jokeQuote: the average pay and benefits package for firefighters was $175,000 per year.
Firefighters, like all public-safety officials in California, also receive a gold-plated retirement plan: a defined-benefit annual pension that offers 90 percent or more of the worker’s final year’s pay, guaranteed for the rest of his life (and the life of his spouse).
Government employees use various scams to boost their already generous benefits, which include fully paid health care and cost-of-living adjustments.
82 percent (in 2002) chief’s-level employees at the California Highway Patrol who discovered a disabling injury about one year before retiring. That provides an extra year off work, with pay, and shields 50 percent of their final retirement pay from taxes. Most of these disabilities stem from back pain, knee pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and the like—not from taking bullets from bad guys. The disability numbers soared after CHP disbanded its fraud unit.
LA is close to becoming the second largest city to go bankrupt. neutral

Bah, I feel old. And I'm gonna become older very soon. ._.;
And why do I keep buying Pokemon cards? I like to collect them, but so what? It's expensive and ultimately pointless. Bleh.

Sevi Rais Terrible? How so? Animating items is profitable even for the short time the item is available as animated. *doesn't know how the cash shop is shady* and, uh, gambling? With fake money? Wah? It's profitable, but not deserving of money. I didn't even know it was time limited at the time, but that is even worse. 4 frames of animation = $10? And yeah, while I was referring mostly to the RIG, you can straight up buy gaia gold with cash. So the gambling still applies to the casinos. It's not direct, but it is the sort of under the table cash exchange idea that a lot of shady gambling places use. And lol, Jury Duty. I can't even imagine anyone trying to get me as a juror.

Kilana: Did you see that youtube video on pokemon by collegehumor? Sooo funny. XD Wolfy: Even worse. psh. Oldbiesoldbiesoldbies. *shakes head* It may be a way of testing the item on only the few who purchase it. They probably don't want a lot of people buying the item and make it so that it's $10 and limited. If it's a money ploy then it's still a good one (not that I'd like that either). I thought Gaia Cash is purchased on items and not gold. Though items can be turned into gold. Yeah it says so in the help menu: Quote: # Can I exchange my Gaia Cash for Gold? Gaia cash can not be exchanged for gold. Once the purchase is completed, the Gaia Cash is bound to the purchasing account. You can say it's a roundabout way of getting gold but I don't see it as a bad way: MCs have always worked this way anyway. Did anyone see the whole tomtom GPS with Vader as the voice?! XD

I haven't gotten any of the RIGs in a while, but I do remember with one that I purchased it turned into a card that could be sold in the shops for like 100k - which might be what Wolffy's talking about.
I don't know, I feel if they wanted to test the animated items they would do so in private - I mean, back with the beta testing stuff they did ages ago, there was a separate test Gaia where we could test out buying things and such...what they're probably really testing is how much people will be willing to spend on animated items. And by making it so that the animation expires, later on if they introduce an animated item that doesn't expire for $20, people will think they're getting a good deal. *shrug*
They've done something slightly similar to this before, too - anyone else remember when the UFO was released as a donation item and they made it so you could fly in towns for a month with it?

t Sevi: there's far more flash elements on the site besides the avatars and sigs, I just don't want to wait for any of that stuff to load unless I want to look at it. smile
Wah I'm thinking about playing WoW again, it sounds fun to play a mage on my dad's server, you know...

Hey Pasta
They've done something slightly similar to this before, too - anyone else remember when the UFO was released as a donation item and they made it so you could fly in towns for a month with it?I remember that, but I never went in towns or used the UFO, since I don't own much green. Did it look any different than it does now in the flash environments? There seems to be quite a few items with a bit of animation when you walk around. And it may have been limited, but it's not really the same. With the UFO, the movement was a perk - you still got the handful of poses you expected from an MC at the time. With these new animated items, the main feature is what is getting disabled. Lame.

I don't actually own it either, 'cause I thought it was kind of ugly, but my friend Michelle was really excited about it at first and then told me it was actually not that cool. *shrug* So I don't know what it looked like. What I had heard back then was that they were panicking that they hadn't sold enough donation items that month and threw in the animation as an attempt to sell more of them...which is what the limited-time-animated items reminded me of. *shrug*
Yay, I get another motorcycle lesson on Monday!

There are items that move in Towns. I have the spaceship one but I never use it. I can try but there are so many poses. Most likely it'll just look like your avy's walking than flying.
I do remember bear pjs and how they were just a normal pose until they made it a multi-pose item by inflating it and deflating it some time after it was released (I know those weren't sold well. Remember how June 04 letters were down to 2-3k when the minimum use to be 5k and up? Then June 04 became horns and they skyrocketed.) But I can only remember the pjs. I thought that was the first multi-pose item on the site.
Aldo: I'm trying to think of what else is flash besides the games but I can't think of any. I think the store is run on javascript and the housing is flash. But I can see why it's annoying to upload so much flash. The only one that gave me problems were aquariums and that's disabled for me so I don't have any problems now.

The main page has flash elements for some of the ads and the featured avatar is one as well. Then there are the user profiles and pages linked through announcements often have stuff on them.
I dunno, I'm just not interested in waiting on stuff to load that I won't use anyway.

They might make it compatible with the rest of the site in the next twenty years. confused Edit: Goddamn. It's been so long since I organized my inventory, I hardly know where to start. Should I put RIG items all together or organize them like "shirts, pants, shoes." Agh... so many items have multiple poses now, I don't know what would make more sense!
