"Agility porygon!" The labrat commanded his own pokemon. "Get out of the way and retaliate in like!"

The porygon dodged the psybeam with a burst of speed, its own psybeam streaming out at Calculus even as it did so.

"Do the same, CAL!" Venerax called out as well.

Now both virtual pokemon darted about the shadowy terrain. Multi-hued rays streaking out at different angles as each pokemon tried to strike the other. If only there was a good down beat it would make for a great rave.

"Enough of this," The labrat growled in frustration. "Porygon recover! Then put an end to this upstart with an agile tackle!"

The porygon's damage repaired and then it shot forward in blinding speed!

"Calculus! Don't let him get close! Psybeam!" Venerax countered.

Calculus' psybeam cut across the field straight at his opponent.

"Ignore it, porygon! Plow right through it!" Labrat pressed on the attack.

The porygon tucked its polyhedron head in tight as it continued its head long charge straight through enemy fire. Its momentum from its super speed continuing to carry forward even as the psychic waves pummeled it. Calculus had no time to dodge as the other porygon collided full force into its nose sending it flying.

"C'mon Cal! Get up!" Venerax called out to his pokemon.

"Don't give 'em the chance, hit it again!" The labrat called out ruthlessly.

Calculus struggled to rise. "Rrrrrrr...."

The other porygon, its head spinning from aggressive assault heard the command, stilled its head and shot out again with another blistering fast tackle. But the psychic waves of the psybeam had confused it. The labrat had only a barest moment to realize and drop to the ground, as his porygon shot straight over him crashing into a large boulder behind.

Finally a break. Was Venerax's only thought as he continued to encourage Calculus to rise.

It was slightly amusing to see just how fast Mikey scrambled for the PokeDex he'd been given, and even after the machine had told him what he wanted to know, he continued to stare at Twilight with confusion. "The picture in my PokeDex is wrong," he complained, holding it up as though Kasiya could see it from across the battlefield. "It's showing me that an Umbreon's markings are gold, and the ones on yours are blue!"

Kasiya smiled sheepishly. She'd forgotten that Twilight was like Fang in the regards that he had special colouring. "No, your PokeDex is right, Umbreon usually do have gold rings," she said. "Twilight is special." The Umbreon's ears perked up at these words, and a small smile was present on the Pokemon's face. "Now are we going to finish up or what?" She was a little anxious to finish this battle and get to Viridian City so she could take Nova to the Pokemon Center.

Mikey nodded and looked to his Squirtle. "Okay Michelangelo, use your Bubble attack!" The Tinyturtle Pokemon clapped his hands together and jumped up, opening his mouth and sending a spray of tiny bubbles at Twilight.

"Hold your ground, Twilight!" Kasiya called. "Stop the bubbles with a Sand-Attack!" The Umbreon's ear twitched. Sure, that sounded easy enough. The Dark-type dashed forward, skidded to a stop, pivoted on his front legs and swept up a cloud of sand directly into the oncoming bubbles. The tiny grains of sand shattered the bubbles on impact, causing a sparkling shower to cascade down, making him look quite radiant. Okay, that looks like something right from a contest, Kasiya thought excitedly. I bet Twilight would be great in contests! The way he sparkles when he comes out of his Pokeball would certainly capture the judges' attention!

"Whoa, nice move," Mikey commented. "But a little Sand-Attack won't work against this! Water Gun, Michelangelo, go!" The Tinyturtle's cheeks seemed to puff out as he gathered power for the attack, and soon he was firing a stream of water, which Twilight could do nothing to avoid. He shook it off, however, and cast an angry glare towards the Squirtle, intending to get payback for that one.

Kasiya hadn't actually looked up any of Twilight's moves as of yet, but there were a few that she knew were common to all of the Eevee family evolution line. She'd come to this conclusion because Flash and Ariel shared a lot of the same moves, especially the ones learned early on, such as Tackle, Sand-Attack and Quick Attack before they branched off into more type-specific ones, like Thundershock and Water Gun. She wasn't sure what Twilight would have in lieu of those, so she decided to stick with something she was sure of. "Okay Twilight, Quick Attack!" she called, excitement flaring up in her stomach. The Umbreon uttered a low, menacing growl, flattened his ears against his head and darted forward, a white streak trailing behind him as he picked up speed.

"Ack! No! Michelangelo, Withdraw!" Mikey shouted. The Squirtle's eyes grew wide as saucers and he quickly pulled each of his limbs into his shell just as Twilight slammed him with a shoulder, sending the Water-type spiraling across the battlefield. Even though he didn't battle much, Twilight was still much stronger than the young Squirtle, and Kasiya could already see his potential shining through.

Michelangelo skittered to a stop, and the now-dizzy turtle poked his head out of his shell, trying his hardest to get the world to stop spinning. He shook his head a few times and got to his feet, definitely hoping to never go on a ride like that again. He looked over his shoulder at Mikey, ready for another command. "Err... uh... okay use Water Gun again," the youth said a bit uncertainly, once again adjusting his hat. The Squirtle ran forward, a determined look set in its eyes as it once again blasted a fierce jet of water towards Twilight.

I should teach Twilight how to use Protect, Kasiya thought, watching as once again the blue-ringed Umbreon took the hit solidly, though he shook it off once again. "Fight back with... uh... Tackle!" she called, knowing for sure Twilight would know this one. Once again the Dark-type charged forward, ready to finish off his opponent. He would make his new mistress proud!
PostPosted: Sat Jun 27, 2009 10:33 am

Kasiya watched with a grim expression as Twilight's Tackle hit home, and once again the poor Squirtle was sent for a tumble. Michelangelo tried valiantly to get back up to his feet, but he was unable to and he fell back down again, too weak to continue. "Oh, Michelangelo!" Mikey cried, rushing to his fallen Pokemon's side. The Squirtle gave a weak thumbs up before his young trainer recalled him into his Pokeball, and the boy stood up, his eyes downcast. It looked as though he wanted to say something, but he either couldn't or had decided against it.

"I... I'm sorry," Kasiya said, also looking down at the ground as she made her way over to the boy. "I tried to explain, but you were so eager..."

"Heh, don't worry about it, Rach," he said, looking up at her suddenly, wearing that same happy expression he'd had on earlier. "I somehow knew you weren't really one of my rivals from Pallet, and I thought I'd try my luck out anyway. I got my Squirtle on Friday and we've been training pretty hard the last few days, going back and forth between Viridian City and Pallet Town. I also have a Pidgey that I caught later on my first day, and Squeakers I caught last night."

"Hey, you've got the right idea," Kasiya said, nodding. "I thought you were pretty tough for someone who just started out. But I really am sorry."

"Don't be sorry, you were just doing your job as a trainer. I mean, I know I'm still a novice and all, and there'll always be someone stronger than me out there, but that won't stop me from trying, you know?" He'd taken off his hat and was fluffing up his sandy brown hair with a free hand.

"That's pretty deep," Kasiya nodded. "You're pretty wise for a kid."

"Well, my mom was a trainer when she was growing up, and I want to make her proud of me. She's told me so much about her journeys when she was younger and I want to go out there and do the same thing. She also started with a Squirtle," he added.

Kasiya forced a smile there. "Same with my dad," she said, though obviously omitted nearly everything about him. "He's the one who got me interested in training. So, would you like me to walk you to the Pokemon Center in Viridian? Your Pokemon could use some healing," she offered.

"Nah, I'm going to go back home to Pallet. My Pidgey is still full of energy so she can handle any Pokemon we meet on the way. Thanks for the battle, Rachael, and hopefully we'll battle again someday. Though when that day comes, I'm gonna whomp you," he added, waving as he started off down the path.

"I don't doubt that," Kasiya laughed, waving back. "Well Twilight, let's get to Viridian so we can heal Nova. I also want to do some shopping." Twilight, who'd been sitting patiently at Kasiya's side the whole time, nodded, and eagerly followed after his trainer. Though he wasn't really the battling type, after that last battle he couldn't help but feel elated and eager for the next one.

"...Sam?" Orion was thouroughly freaked out by now. He had wandered around for a couple of minutes, not hearing or seeing Sam. Once, he thought he saw a human figure, but it turned out to be another trainer. He had to hide for awhile to avoid a battle. "Where could you have gone?"

Sam, to her credit, was looking for Orion as much as she was. She too saw another trainer, and had to avoid him. She hadn't meant to get seperated, but her calls were lost on the cave walls. Apparently, she had stumbled into a smaller cave, off the main tunnels. Now she couldn't find the entrance since there were no lights. She wandered around, bumping into the walls every once in awhile. She wished she had a Fire pokemon, or maybe an Electric. She heard cries of Paras and Zubat, and it was freaking her out. She hated bats. Hated hated hated hated them. She saw a dim light up ahead, and cried out in joy and finally finding the exit to the cave. It would be much easier to find Orion in the light. She staggered out onto a small plateau, ringed with stones and flowers. She noticed the sunlight dimming a bit. A few pink Pokemon came out from behind some trees. They were shaped like stars. She took out her pokedex, and muted it. She read, "Clefairy, the Fairy Pokemon. Thought to live with others on quiet mountains, it is popular for its adorable nature. It flies using the wings on its back to collect moonlight. This Pokémon is difficult to find.
It is said that happiness will come to those who see a gathering of Clefairy dancing under a full moon." She looked up, and indeed saw the Clefairy dancing around, encircling a large stone. She craned her neck to see the stone better. She fell over, and broke a twig. The Clefairy immediately stopped and cried out, and ran off. Sam got up to examine the stone. it was dark and opaque. It was pitted all over. She saw it was cracked, and very brittle, but she couldn't smash it with her bare hands. She saw something glittering in it's depths. She sighed. No treasure for her this time...She felt hands clasp her shoulders.

"Finally! Where were you?! I've spent hours!" Orion was shaking her shoulders, as Sam laughed.

"Oh sorry, but aren't you exaggerating? It hasn't been hours, just a few minutes..." she said, dreamily. He took a step back, looking at her quizzically.

"Sam look at the sky." She looked up, and saw stars and the moon.

"Oh how pretty! Why am I looking at the sky?" She sat down, and lay on her back, ready to just fall asleep, so peaceful...

"Sam! What happened to you?" He let go of her shoulders, and she rolled over and fell asleep. He saw a Clefairy on the edge of the clearing. He pulled out his pokedex, a yellow version with black thunderbolt stickers on it, and checked it's moves. This one was pretty strong...He saw with amusement one of the moves.

"Hey, could you do me a favor?" The shy little Clefairy walked over, and held his hand. It looked mischevious. "Did you do something to my friend?" It smiled, showing it's little fangs, and nodded. "Did you use Amnesia?" It looked solemn and nodded again, looking sorry. "Well, I need you to fix her." It shrugged. He sighed. Well Sam wouldn't have her memories of whatever happened, but he still needed her awake. "Tell you what. I'll make this fun for you. Use Wake-Up Slap." It giggled, and danced to Sam's sleeping form. It hovered in the air a moment, and reached down. It energized it's hand, and with a resounding "Slap!" across the face, woke Sam up. She sat up sleepily.
"What do you want?" Orion pulled an Escape Rope out of his bag.

"Screw this, I'm getting my Staravia."

This too is sacred...

Travis twisted in his sleep and a deep frown creased his face. His dreams were mixed memories and muddled with endless falls, laughing eyes and a weight on his chest he knew as helplessness. Sometimes he was climbing a rope, only to fall and be caught by the gooey back of a Muk, other times he was running as fast as he could towards something but unable to move forward. Instead he would start to sink, a strange black sand under his feet pulling him down and down until he was pulled under and then he would be falling again, his fighting Pokemon tumbling through empty space beside him. The laughing eyes reappeared and disappeared, their disdain echoing in his ears until he landed for the final time into the smelly mess that was a Muk.

Hitting the hard floor of the jail cell on his hip and right arm jolted the former thief from his nightmares. He rolled over onto his back and let his blue eyes roam for a moment over the ceiling as he regained control of his breathing and heart, both of which were uncomfortabley quick. He still ached in places from his fall, especially his lower back where he'd hit the chair on the way down.

"Stupid." he muttered, remembering his fight with the Muk and mistake in dropping the Pokeball that released it. He threw an arm across his eyes, though who or what he was hiding from he didnt' know; a reflexive action against the past and nothing more. After he'd fallen he'd woken up in the back of a police van with a nurse and an Officer Jenny, his Pokemon gone and his head and back aching. The next two days were spent being brought back to Vermillion, processed and sitting in his cell watching the shadows move by. His call to Team Rocket for a lawyer or any kind of assistance had gone unanswered and the theif had no other friends or family to contact. Ten years as a Rocket had cut all ties with a normal life and there not a few times where the only ones he had to talk too were his Pokemon. Now even those were gone.

With a sigh he rolled over to his stomache and used his arms to push himself upright onto his knees then rose to standing; as he did, a small noise, a hard 'plink', came from the shadow beneath the window. Arching an eyebrow he walked over and nearly totalled himself on something small and round on the floor, flailing his arms to recapture his balance as his left foot shot out from underneath him. Travis reached down angrily and pulled it up and held it in the faint light coming in the window; the half-white, half-red sphere was clearly a Pokeball. Darting forward he looked out the window and down to the street below but there was noone in sight, though he did hear nearby footsteps echoing off the walls. For a moment he thought he was dreaming but the hard plastic of the Pokeball in his hand was no figment of his imagination.

"Ok, let's see who's in here." he murmered and quietly tossed the Pokeball to the floor.

This too is sacred...

With a flash of red light and a familiar hissing pop, the Pokeball sprang open and revealed a short humanoid Pokemon with greyish-brown skin, muscular arms and legs, large brown eyes and three ridges on it's head. At roughly two feet tall the Pokemon gazed up at Travis from about his waist height and smiled.

"Machop?" it said curiously, looking around the jail cell. Travis again arched an eyebrow, bemused at his sudden good fortune.
"Hello to you too." he said quietly, walking over to the bars and looking out to see if Officer Jenny had noticed anything. The Machop watched him but didn't move, obviously wondering what it was supposed to do for its' new master. Travis' search revealed no Officer in sight and he motioned for his new Pokemon to come forward. If she wasn't there at this second she would be very soon.
"Machop, we need to get out of here. If they find you they'll just take you away and I don't want to spend the rest of my natural life in a box." He hesitated, looking away from the trusting eyes of the small Pokemon. "I've done a lot of bad stuff, hurt people, taken things that weren't mine, a lot things, actually. I can't promise if we get out that I wont keep doing it. It's all I know how to do. It's the only thing I'm good at."

The Machop said nothing for a moment but moved from where it had been standing over to the cell door. It gestured at the barrier then at Travis. "Ma, chop, machop chop. Chop!" It finished, making a kicking movement and smiled at the thief. Travis couldnt' help but smile back, the weight of helplessness in his chest from the dreams, and three days behind bars, lifted a little.
"You'll help me get out?" He wanted to be absolutely sure the Machop knew what it was getting into. Travis wasn't used to giving Pokemon a choice when it came to their orders but he knew now that it was time for a change. When he got back to Team Rocket he'd only take Pokemon with him that actually *wanted* to go instead of forcing them. Pleased with his choice he was gratified to see the Machop nod in answer to his question.

"Great! Ok, first things first, I need to get out of this cell. Can you kick down the door? After that we'll have to run for it." The Machop nodded again and motioned with one blocky hand for Travis to move away from the door. The thief went over to his bed and watched as the little Pokemon readied itself for an attack. For a few seconds it crouched and gathered its' strength, then without warning leapt up and at the barrier, striking it hard and loudly with a large, blocky foot. A resounding boom accompanied the hit but the door was still standing. Again the Machop leapt and struck, this time leaving a large dent where its' foot connected. Between that and the next blow Travis heard not-distant-enough commotion.
"C'mon, Machop! One more time!" He urged and the Machop looked over its' shoulder, panting with exhertion. It nodded and jumped once more, striking the same spot and smashing a hole through.
"Machop!" It yelled triumphantly and got a pat on the head as Travis came over and reached through the door, unlocking it from the other side.
"Great job, Machop." he congratulated the Pokemon as he pulled the door open and stepped into the hallway. "Now it's my turn. Return!" Lifting the Pokeball up, the Machop was sucked inside and tucked away in the pants pocket of Travis' prisoner outfit. He tried to remember the fastest way out, looked left and right down the hallway and saw Officer Jenny appear.

"How did you get out?!" she exclaimed, pulling a Pokeball from her belt and prepared to throw. "Stop right there!"
"Oh snap." He grimaced and made his choice, running hard at the woman, barrelling into her with his lowered shoulder and shoving her completely aside. The Pokeball and the officer fell to the floor and he rushed passed both and into the stairwell, taking the steps three at a time and around one curve before coming to another door. Behind him he could hear Officer Jenny's shoes clicking like machine-gun fire as she came after him, but thankfully he didnt' hear any Growlithe snarls. He pushed through the door, appeared in the main hallway of the building and ran full tilt for the front door that was straight ahead. The janitor looked up in surprise as he dashed passed but had no time to do anything before he was out the doors and onto the street.

The night air had never felt so fresh as that moment Travis barrelled out into freedom; there was no time for fancy tricks, only to run and escape, arms and legs moving in perfect symmetry, heart pounding, lungs pumping for all they were worth as he bolted into the night. Behind him he heard the doors slam open once more as Officer Jenny came out but he was already rounding his first corner and getting lost in the maze of alleys that were the inner core of Vermillion City.

Kasiya and Twilight arrived in Viridian City within the half hour, seeing as the distance between Pallet and Viridian wasn't exactly that great. It also didn't take long to find the Pokemon Center, as by now Kasiya was quite familiar with the layout of the town. She stepped through the sliding doors, happy to be greeted by a blast of cool air. It wasn't overly warm outside, but because of all the walking she'd done Kasiya was feeling pretty warm and uncomfortable. She waited in line at the front desk for her turn, though there were only two people ahead of her, and when the nurse beckoned for her to step forward she placed Nova's Pokeball on the cool, smooth surface of the desk. "Could you please heal my Charmander?" she asked, looking down at the red and white sphere.

"Of course," said the nurse, taking the ball and nodding. "I'll take good care of your Charmander. Are you just starting out?" she asked.

Why did everyone keep asking her that? "No, I've been at this for a while now. I'm just reliving the first days of my journey. Trying to recapture that sense of adventure," she explained. Nurse Joy seemed satisfied enough with her answer, and Kasiya nodded and let the her know she'd be heading to the PokeMart and would be back shortly.

Twilight followed her back outside, obviously not entirely pleased about going back into the bright sunlight but he did not complain. Kasiya paused for a moment to think before leading the way, and soon the duo was once again heading in the right direction. This time, they approached a blue-roofed building and went inside. Kasiya recalled that the Viridian City PokeMart didn't have a wide variety of TMs on hand, nor did they carry the stronger variations of Potions and other healing items. Regardless she made her way over to the TM section and quickly found what she was looking for - a shiny, light grey disc with the characters "TM17" etched into it. She checked the price and then how much money she had on her, frowning a little when she realized it would cost her exactly half of what she did have. Oh well, it'll be worth it, she thought as she took her purchase up to the counter.

After the TM was paid for, she left the store and headed back towards the Pokemon Center, hoping that by the time she got back, Nova would be feeling much better. Before she and Twilight actually went inside, however, Kasiya stopped and lightly touched the grey disc to the small, blue ring on the Umbreon's forehead. It seemed to shimmer for a moment before losing its shine completely, and it, like the Toxic TM from earlier, cracked right down the middle. Kasiya recalled the Dark-type into his Pokeball in order to let him get some rest before she headed back inside, ready to reclaim her baby Charmander.

"C'mon Cal, you can get up," Venerax encouraged his pokemon again.

The pokemon struggled to rise again, gaining purchase with its polyhedron feet. "Ry." Finally, Calculus rose from the ground. But it was badly damaged and it would take a bit of luck to win this fight now.

The labrat rolled onto his back, and picking himself up a bit. "NOT ME! The other porygon! Use tackle!" He reprimanded his confused pokemon, and not surprisingly he remained on the ground just incase.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 28, 2009 10:10 am

Once inside Kasiya quickly went up to the front desk again, very pleased to see that Nova's Pokeball was ready and waiting for her. She thanked the cheerful nurse and turned to leave, though on second thought she figured it would be a good idea to get Twilight healed as well. The nurse didn't seem to mind at all and she took the Umbreon's Pokeball from Kasiya, indicating that it would be another short wait. Still holding the Charmander's Pokeball in her hands Kasiya wandered over to one of the big, cushy couches and flopped down on it, dropping her bag on the ground nearby. "Urgh..." she grumbled, gently rotating her injured shoulder, imagining that it was all purple and discoloured by now. "Dislocated shoulder, sprained wrist and ankle, scars from an angry Meowth's claws, huge scar on my left side..." she quietly named off the worst of the injuries she'd suffered in the last few months and chuckled despite her bad fortune. None of her injuries had been overly serious and she'd managed to recover quite quickly from all of them. She closed her eyes and remembered the feel of Mai's hands pushing her down hard onto the cement, and the gross-sounding pop of her shoulder as it came out of place and she shivered a little. Yeah, she definitely owed Mai a black eye or a kick in the shins or something. Especially after she'd taken Shocker. The cruel look on her sister's face would forever be ingrained in her memory and Kasiya felt a hot surge of adrenaline shoot through her veins. Now wasn't the time for that, however.

Kasiya was suddenly pulled back to reality by a light tap on her good shoulder, and she looked up to see the nurse holding out Twilight's Pokeball to her. "Oh, thank you so much," Kasiya said, accepting it and standing up.

"You're quite welcome, it's no trouble at all." The nurse gave a polite bow and headed back to her station to take care of a few trainers who'd just come inside. Kasiya watched them for a moment, wondering what she'd do next. Part of her wanted to wander up towards the Viridian Forest and perhaps do some training up in that area, but the back of her mind reminded her that it was a natural maze in there and it could take days to find her way out if she were to get lost. But then, a tiny voice seemed drifted through her mind, reminding her of one other reason why she wanted to go to Lilycove.

"The Breeder's Gala..." she murmured, and her hand closed tightly around the red and white sphere in her hand. She'd been so psyched for it but now... just the thought of it was enough to make her stomach bottom out. She'd wanted nothing more than to dress up in fancy clothes and go dancing with her redheaded-prince, but now he wanted nothing to do with her, and taking her to the ball was probably the furthest thing from his mind right now. He'd said he'd rather go with Mai, but Kasiya seriously hoped that was just him being stupid. I still want to go... she thought, feeling her heart crack a little as she sunk back into the cushy couch cushions.

The next little while consisted of Kasiya trying to think of ways to still get to the ball, even though she didn't have a ticket or someone to go with. She thought of sneaking in, using Hiro to burst in and a lot of other ways to get in, but most of them would probably land her in jail while owing an explanation to her parents as to why she needed bail money. There had to be another way for her to attend the ball without actually having a ticket. Kasiya's stomach rumbled suddenly and she realized she couldn't think on an empty stomach. So, she gathered up her things and headed outside, ready to find someplace that would serve both her and her Pokemon lunch.

About an hour later, Kasiya and her crew were fed and looking much happier, though she couldn't help but notice that Twilight shied away from the group, interacting only with Flash when the Jolteon would come near. Kasiya hoped that this would pass, as the Umbreon was still new to the group and didn't really know anyone other than his brother. As usual, Leviathan and Rosemary stuck together like glue, and even Digger was acting more social than normal as he was keeping the baby Charmander entertained. When they were finished Kasiya paid their bill and headed back to the Pokemon Center, finally having an idea of what to do now. She temporarily switched Nova for Fang, and soon she and the green Crobat were flying away from Viridian City, their destination clear: Slateport City. As much as Kasiya didn't want to go back there, she knew she had no other choice, as walking from Fortree to Lilycove seemed like a really stupid idea seeing as she didn't know the way at all.

It didn't take long for them to leave Kanto behind them, and soon they'd landed in Cherrygrove City. The place looked a lot different than Kasiya remembered it - all decorated up nice and pretty for the festival, but now it looked like any other town, except for the fact that it too held some pretty grim memories for her. The majority of the day had been wonderful, and she often liked to relive those memories, but when the Rockets had attacked, the day had ended on a fairly sour note.

The porygon's head stopped spinning again at the labrats command facing the right direction this time and it launched itself forward at the badly injured Calculus.

"Cal! Flash!" Venerax ordered fast and covered his eyes before the blast of bright light could ruin his own vision.

A bright light built up in Calculus's body with untold speed. Until in a cresendo that made even the lighthouse in the dark terrain appear to be nothing than a shade. For the barest moment he was like the sun reborn on earth. The labrat and his porygon were there wide-eyed to bear witness. Then it was nothing but darkness and stars for them.

Venerax could see the light of the flash even through his squeezed shut eyelids. "Agility, CAL! Dodge away!" He called out again before the light had faded.

With a burst of speed Calculus dodged aside a barest distance out of the way of its confused and blinded opponent. The other porygon shot past crashing into more rocks.

Venerax opened his eyes, and seeing the labrat's pokemon buried in another grouping of boulder he called out the final attack that would hopefully end this battle. "Now, Cal! Psybeam and end this!"

The labrat tried to gain his barrings with his temporarily blinded eyes. He didn't need his eyes to issue commands though. "Porygon recover"

The porygon rose, its data scrambled from psychic energy, and its sensor seared by the blinding light in the night. It heard a command, but couldn't compute it. So it attempted to attack again only to tumble in the rocks once again. Its sensors were just beginning to recover in time to see the blurred ray of psychic energy too late.

"Well I hope you don't run out of Pokedex's." Dante joked slightly as he gave Kasiya a little wave as she left. Turning back to Oak he waited patently for the man to find his supply of pokedex's that he was apparently running low on. Going over to Hera he placed a hand on her horn for a second before recalling his pokemon back into her pokeball. "Thanks for the company Hera." He muttered. Putting her pokeball back into the bag at his side he started looking around the lab some more. On one of the tables rested three pokeballs with a little fire, water and leaf symbol on them. Smiling slightly he ran a long finger over each of the balls, when he got to the one with the fire symbol on it he tapped it twice. Charizard was certainly his favorite of the Kanto starters. He was sure if he hadn't first started with Apollo he would have wondered over to Pallet town and picked a Charmander up from Professor Oak. Maybe he will look into picking one up? Kasiya did mention something about a Breeders Gala, maybe would check that out? Yes that sounded like a good idea, maybe his mom had tickets? He knew she didn't have any Charizard on her ranch but if he got a ticket he was sure that someone would or could breed him one.

"Professor do you mind if I use your phone?" He asked letting go of the flame ball he had been holding.

"Huh? Oh yeah you can Dante. Sorry this is taking so long, I know I have an unopened box of new pokedex's here somewhere." Oak muttered as he started opening a new box.

"Thanks." Dante muttered before going over to the video phone in the room. Sitting himself down in front of it he typed in his mothers number really quick and waited as it rang a few times.

"Hello Violet here." Came a happy if somewhat hurried voice.

"Mom its me Dante, can I ask you something?"

"Oh Dante!" Violet seemed to slow down at the sound of her sons voice. "Sorry I am kinda busy right now but what can I do for you sweetie?"

"Ah I was wondering if you could get me a ticket to that Breeders Gala thing in Lilycove."

"Oh that's where I am right now, of course I can get you in honey! I have my own booth here you know." Violet sounded really happy to be able to hear that her only son was going to be visiting her again. She didn't get to see the boy a lot and she really did miss him.

"Hmm, thanks mom. I dunno how I am going to get there but I am sure I will figure something out."

"Oh honey don't even worry, you are at Oaks lab right? I was wondering why it was his number calling me. I can send you over one of my flying pokemon, after all you do have the badge that lets you fly, no reason you can't do that, besides I could use your help with the booth some."

"Well that solves that problem." Dante muttered. "Anyway thank you for your help Mom, I will see you when I get there."

"Of course honey have a safe trip! I will send one of my flying pokemon over to you just hold tight!" With that the phone call ended with a small click.

Leaning back in the chair Dante yawned slightly feeling a little tired, he had forgotten how draining it was to be a trainer. Who knows maybe he could take a nap on the flight over?

"Ah-ha! I found it!" Came Oaks exclamation from the other side of the lab.

Glancing back at him Dante pushed himself up from the chair he was resting in and headed over to the now dust covered man. "You should really dust around here sometime? Anyway thank you for searching so hard for my pokedex." Dante said with a small smile as he took the small red dex from the man.

"Ah no problem. I had to find the box anyway, better looking for it with you here then looking for it with a batch of new trainers now." Oak joked as he dusted off his white lab coat.

"Well thank you anyway for the dex. I am using your pokemon transporter to, I hope that is all right." Dante pointed back just in time for a pokeball to appear on the small circular indent. "Ah there it is."

"Oh thats no problem. Well thanks for stopping by Dante. I have got somethings to do, like straightening up my lab for the next set of beginners."

"All right Professor, stay safe." Dante wished as he grabbed the new pokeball and headed outside. "Now lets see what my mom sent me." He muttered fingering the red and white ball.

When Fang was rested enough once again he and Kasiya took to the skies, the Crobat's wings silently cutting through the air as they drew nearer and nearer to Slateport City. Kasiya couldn't help but admire the Hoenn landscape as the region came into view. A cool breeze was blowing in off the ocean and Kasiya felt a chill creep through her body, though she didn't know if that was because of the cold air or because of what had happened here less than twenty-four hours ago. However, as she touched down in the same city square that Rowan's seminar had taken place in, she had to do a double take. Except for some obvious damage to the ground, it didn't even look like anything had happened here at all. I guess everyone must have worked really hard to clean up afterward, she thought, looking around and feeling bad that she hadn't stayed to help as well. Then again, she didn't really have a choice in the matter last night, as she'd practically passed out only to be swooped off to Saffron City by Mike and Nitro. She sighed then, and closed her eyes. "Where are you now, Mike?" she asked quietly. "Are you okay?" As if he would answer her then.

Knowing full well that she couldn't have Fang fly her to Lilycove she headed straight to the Pokemon Center and swapped him for Nova, thanking the Crobat yet again as his Pokeball disappeared and Nova's took its place. "I guess we'd better figure out if there's a ferry to Lilycove sometime soon," she murmured, heading towards the marina. She followed the signs and soon found herself in the correct area, though she quickly noticed that there were no ferries currently docked, or any other boats, for that matter. "Oh crap," she muttered, looking around for some sort of posted schedule or authority figure or anything that could help her out. She finally spotted the harbor-master's office and she hurried towards it, darted up the few steps and rapped sharply on the door. She waited patiently but there was no answer. Sighing in defeat she turned to leave, nearly running headlong into a tall man with tanned, leathery skin and a thick, bushy white beard. He wore a sailor's hat tilted on a slight angle, and he hadn't been paying attention to where he was going either for he was currently flipping through dozens of pages attached to a clipboard. "Oh, sorry!" she cried, managing to stop herself from tumbling over backwards.

"Oi! Sorry there, lass," the man mumbled sheepishly, adjusting his cap. "Didn't see ye there. How can I be helpin' ye?" He tucked the clipboard under an arm and grinned down at her. "Ye lookin' to join a crew?"

Kasiya shook her head. "Uh, no, uh, thank you," she said, holding up her hands defensively. "I'm actually just trying to figure out when the next ferry to Lilycove will be."

"Ahh, I see. The next one won't be until tomorrah mornin'," he said apologetically. "I reckon it'll be pretty full, seeing as that ship's leavin' from Lilycove come noon tomorrah."

Kasiya's heart sank. "Oh, okay, well uh, thanks," she murmured, watching as the harbor-master went up the stairs and into his office. "I'm never going to get to Lilycove by tonight..." she sighed, turning and heading back towards the Pokemon Center to try and think of another plan.

Venerax recalled the badly damaged Calculus right after the psybeam knocked out the labrat's porygon. Venerax walked over and stood over the recovering labrat. "Well, you played odds, but you lost. Now you're going to lead me back to a bit of civilization."

The labrat looked up at him blinking his eyes several times. Slowly he rose the spots disappearing from his vision, and recalled his own pokemon. Dusting himself off, he frowned. "C'mon."

Begrudingly the labrat lead the way through the shadowy grounds. Until finally after a walk they came down out of the rough hills onto a road. They walked in silence along the road coming closer and closer to the lighthouse. Venerax wondered if their was a city near it...or whether it was the labrat's home.
