Eden wasn't really telling her story to get an opinion from the man, no offense intended on her part but she didn't exactly much care for the opinion of an old man she'd just met moments ago. If he didn't like her, that was his problem to deal with, she was his leader apparently and he was going to be doing what she said so long as he wanted to remain a hunter. So he was best to make his way and leave now if he didn't have any plans of having to deal with her and take orders from her in the future because they were going to probably be seeing a lot of one another in said regard. "Restless to hunt a few baddies, huh? We can quickly bust a few if you want, I'll help you out. That way if you make a mistake and attack a Tainted you have another monster there to back you up."
"That is very true as well. I suppose you just take more precautions and more time to think things through but since you're ancient that really doesn't surprise me. We have a few older hunters back at haven and they're pretty ritualistic as well. It's a good thing but it swallows up time but I guess they're usually more prepared than most of us. And that's unfortunate to hear, about your trainer, I suppose we probably all have our misjudgements that cost us a bit, some just pay for it more than others." Julian's story certainly reminded her of a few years ago when she'd been on a sort of ops team that'd been assigned to an underground location where there'd been a ton of immortals. They'd done a sweep but they'd ended up ambushed because they'd progressed too quickly and then the team had been mostly wiped out.
The hunter leader shook her head at the old man's comment about being able to fill the place with smoke until she set off the smoke detectors and had to pay some huge fine that probably accompanied it. "Nope. Still can't. Second hand smoke, remember? It's no good for the kiddies and if it's no good for them that'd make me one bad mama bear for partaking in such an activity in their midst. D--n this is going to suck, my nicotine fixes are going to have to be slipped in every now and again when my kids aren asleep or something ... That'll make me feel like a junkie ... And since I was hell to raise as a child and their father has too much energy and too much of a dim wit for his own good, something tips me off that they're going to be a pain to look after and they'll be in near constant trouble. Not to mention ... they're going to be overly strong children ..."
She stood up and looked over to the old man who had already taken to staring up at the sky as well. "God forbid you can see a few stars up there, huh? Are you wanting to go kick something's a-- or what? Or do you need a break from me scaring you to death? I guess you are kind of frail and you smoke so you might need to catch your breath." These last words were teasing as opposed to completely serious but it was clear that she wanted to hunt something for whatever reason. There was a determination in her eyes that was easily seen though why it was there was hard to say depending on who you were. The reason for its existence, though, was that she wanted to prove herself to this old man, to let him know that she wasn't as useless as she'd made herself out in front of him. She didn't need to go lycan to kill something and she didn't need her superstrength, she just needed her weapons and her nerves.

The night air was rather warm this evening. Elyan missed the fall weather when nights such as this came about during the year. Beneath his feet lie a never-sleeping city crawling with all sorts of life, some human and others not. He felt restless, standing on top of a medium-sized building as he gazed into a clear sky, another disappointment.
But, the sky was much the opposite of his own mind. He wasn't afraid to admit that he was troubled and for many reasons. Images of the recent events in his immortal life were filled with more pain than any of the other six-hundred and seventeen years of his life.
"To be stronger, huh?" Elyan whispered to himself. He thought back to the previous night where his younger self spoke to him with such an ice-cold voice.
'If we want to have any chance of getting her back into our possession, we need power... Power, which you refuse to use nor gain.'
Yet, as much as Elyan hated to admit it, the child was right. Every other attempt at getting Ellie back thus far had ended in failure, with some incidents almost ending with his demise. He sighed before returning his face back to its statue-like look as it took in the nightlife of the city.

Though it was warm out, there was still a breeze and that breeze happened to waft over to Meredith Jackson's newly developed nose and she growled upon what she smelled. She inhaled and snorted upon realizing that the scent she'd picked up on was Elyan and she certainly had a bone to pick with him. Her hazel eyes were determined as well as they now snapped a viscious venom toward whatever she'd just smelled. She had just wanted to go out and hunt and there he was, alone from what she'd picked up and probably alone anyhow since he seemed rather introverted. Of course, she wasn't certain how she was going to address this issue but if that kid was there again she'd shoot without hesitation.
With an indignant growl and snort, she wordlessly began making her way toward the scent, leaving Julian to do as he pleased. Either way, her mind had set on one thing and one thing alone: vampire. The lycan in her had snapped back to life upon the scent of its immortal enemy and was keen on assisting its weak human counterpart in tracking the vampire down. It was smiling on the inside, glad that the hunt was now taking place and that the huntress' anger was blinding her to the fact that she was open to being manipulated or taken over in an instant. However, the wolf knew it'd pay if it was too rash and so it decided to stay in the background but help fuel and feed off of the anger, determination and confusion of what it percieved as the weaker counterpart.
Again her mind opened up but this time, being half merged with the wolf without realizing it, there was no pain or mind numbing. She was finally starting to embrace her other half a little bit though it was out of anger and because she was a little too distracted to notice. Of course, she didn't really care at this point, she just wanted to make it to that vampire before it disappeared or ran away somehow again. And due to the merge her body was more agile, stronger and her eyes were now yellow and her finger nails were now closer to claws than nails. Her elongated canines gleamed in the moonlight as they became restless and somewhat urgent for flesh or blood. This was going to be fun.
It didn't take her long to track down the vampire, although once she reached him Meredith realized she didn't even know how she'd gotten here. It'd been almost as if she'd fallen asleep and sleep walked to this location but right now she wasn't about to ask herself questions for she was here to ask those to Elyan. "How was that girl you killed?" Her gun was drawn now though she didn't aim it at him and she wasn't likely to shoot unless she had reason to such as the child appearing or sensing bloodlust. However, she could sense none of this and from his emotions her ability to read drew out sadness and confusion as opposed to sadistic emotions.

Sybil Spencer stopped abruptly in the middle of the sidewalk as she dug through her grocery bag, hastily shoving past ramen meals and soda cans. She even went as far to over turn the bag and dump everything out, nudging through all the contents with the toe of her booted foot. Defeated and aggravated, she kicked a soda can into the street and just as hastily began checking all her pockets. Or rather, lack there of; Her purposefully torn jeans were so damn tight she couldn't even fit two fingers between the folds of denim. Okay, So there was now way in hell they were stuffed in there. That meant only one thing. “Jewel! Where the hell are the cigarettes? This is ridiculous!” Sybil's sudden outburst caught a few odd looks from passersby. Especially when ginger carried on, cussing out loud and kicking around sodas, demanding that an imaginary figure return the cancer sticks this very instant. “I'm so f--king tired of this. Where did you go?” He finally appeared, just as Sybil was threatening ditch both his tan Fae a** and her oh-so important “task”. He was a brilliant iridescent shimmer to her at first, but then he solidified as his atoms regrouped and molded in the mortal plane. And there was Jewel, standing before her in all his glittery glory. The Fae were so not little tinkerbells with quaint cute wings. They were cunning, ancient, deceptive and most of all, drop dead gorgeous. He stood there with that cocky smile on lips that ought to belong to a god. She wondered if Jewel had purposefully forgotten a shirt, or if he just thought it be amusing to draw her amber gaze to the honey drenched bronze tan of his chest. Damn, that boy had been spending way too much time in the sun. Of course, this cigarette stealing, barefoot, jean clad, and shimmering being of total hot factor appeared only to her. What an idiot she must have looked like then, seemingly starring all love struck at the rusted old trashcan behind him. “I am merely attempting to save your lungs from the decay caused by these...sticks. Is that wrong, Sybil? I believed I was doing right, protecting your life. I was showing you compassion...concern for your health. Is that not what humans fancy?” He mused, his voice was so light and airy. Like the breeze itself was whispering only to her. Oddly enough, she didn't feel all that angry any longer, but that's what happened when you got a whiff of fairy. Their scent lulled the scenes better than any drug she'd ever tried. Sybil was just about to cut her losses and forget about the Fae's thievery when she spotted the cigarettes nestled neat and tidy in his right pocket. Without warning, She sprang at him. And collided right into the filthy trashcan. Jewel shimmered out of her reach before she'd even managed to touch him and solidified ten feet away. He was laughing at her. Seriously, wtf. What kind of one-hundred-thousand-something-year-old creature thought this was amusing? She sure didn't. Temper fuming, Sybil chased after him, cussing all the way down the street in a clumsy game of tag.

Julian quickly followed suit as Meredith started to quite blatantly pursue a scent, after years of being a Hunter he knew better than to not trust a Lycan's sense of smell. He remained at shadow distance behind her so to not attract attention to himself, but he kept one hand on his semi-automatic, just in case. He spun the weighted walking stick in his hand with his fingers, it was a useless trick, just one he'd cultivated on the many long nights hunting with no result. Those nights were getting further and further apart these days he started to realize, but he didn't miss them, with every bloodsucker or filthy dog slain he was one step closer to cleansing the world, true it was a baby-step in a place twice as vast as the Sahara, but hey, it was a step at least. It felt like an eternity as Meredith twisted and back-stepped her way through the streets and alleys, until finally, they came face to face with the Vampire.
He brought up his gun and stared straight down the site, sticking his tongue slightly out of the side of his mouth. He wasn't going to shoot until Meredith gave the go-ahead, because frankly, she would probably disembowel him if he did. He slowly circled around so he could get a clear shot, but brought down the sight slightly, allowing him to watch Vampire fully, but bring up the sight and shoot if he decided to try anything funny. The tails of his Duster coat fluttered slightly in the breeze as he grinned at Meredith's remark, it wasn't particularly funny, but he now had an incentive for initiating a conflict if he so wished.

Elyan's attention turned towards his newly-arrived guests. He recognized the first one, but the male hunter was a new face. A lonely breeze traveled past them, scattering Elyan's hair and causing the end of his coat to flutter ever-so slightly in the same direction. It wasn't difficult to see that they were out for blood, and with good reason. The air around them smelled of anger, it was a heavy feeling.
'It figures as much that they'd show up.' Elyan didn't bother to respond to the voice which sounded from inside his own psyche. He had enough things to worry about and his other "self" would only make things worse. Gracefully, Elyan stroked the hair which had caught the ends of his mouth before gently brushing the random hairs aside, revealing his blood-red eyes and flawless features. His eyes spoke much of what he was feeling, being it almost impossible to read his mind now that he was focused.
"To be completely honest," Elyan began, "her blood tasted of pure ecstasy. It was a warm, thirst-quenching crimson which melted into my soulless body." There was a slight hint of dark humor as he spoke, a black irony.
"It was a taste to die for, the ultimate pleasure..." his voice trailed off as he spoke. "Yet, I feel nothing but anguish and turmoil as I speak to you now." His eyes had drifted towards the concrete beneath their feet, before shifting their attention back to the huntress before him. "I suppose this shall be my punishment for giving into such dark pleasures? And, this your salvation?"

That time she ran headlong into a bench, toppled over it, skinned her knee and tore her jeans even more. Well, that's cool. Shredded jeans were so in right now. She didn't even have to drop $80 on designer jeans, Jewel did all the work for her. Speaking of that theft, he'd solidified and paused. With his back to her, he starred ahead with those iridescent eyes and with a slight nod of his white head alerted Sybil to a small group down the street. “Woah. That's crazy odd sight there.” She muttered, gawking as she forgot all about tag and her cigarettes. Sybil didn't need to be a mind reader to realize that two among the group were hunters with they way they had their trained gaze fixed on the pale creature across from them. Unfortunately, She hadn't been in the city long enough to unite up with the New Yorker hunters which was a bummer because she would have loved to be in on the action. Of the hunters, one was human. Although he was old and wrinkled. Ugh, Ew. Shouldn't he have been in a retirement home by now? Where were all the the hot Blade slayers? So bor-ring. The other was a women. Sort of. The wolf almost appeared to be teetering back and forth on showing fur. Lastly was the vampire. The oddest one by far. He was crazy pale and glowed a brilliant red in Sybil's sight. A sedated vamp was better than a hungry one at least. Sybil assumed she was the only one seeing the kid standing beside the bloodsucker because no one else seemed to notice. The child was a miniature incarnation of the grown vampire; Which drew Sybil to the swift conclusion that the guy either had the ghost of a twin stalking him around through eternity or the vampy had some duel personalty thing goin' on. She'd seen it before. Some people with serious multi-personality disorder really did have something else crowding their heads. Beings that were just as real as anyone else, although many were trapped in the in-between and not able to make themselves visible to anyone other than who's head they shared. On rare occasions, the beings were powerful and just as capable of projecting themselves into the living world. In any case, even if the said being didn't feel like showing up, they were always there and tagging along like an unseen shadow. They were a spiritual essence, something that couldn't hide from Sybil's sight no matter what dimension they jumped in.
Hoping to avoid the two inhuman creatures, She tip toed her way around the scene and came up behind the old man. At least he couldn't tear her to shreds, though he might try to bash her over the head with his cane. She tried to be all ninja stealthy like in the movies, But the jingle of her metal bangles kinda gave the ginger away. “Sup Grandpa? Please please tell me you've got a cig. I'm totally goin' insane. This withdraw is a killer. I've got a headache like woah. Seriously, I want -” her cut herself off, starring ahead. Wtf was that fairy doing? He had walked right up to the wolf and vampire. In fact, Jewel was standing right between them filling the breeze with a lovely sandalwood scent that caused Sybil to wrinkle her nose. He seemed curious. Maybe because he too could see the child, but she didn't know for sure. “Jewel, get over here before you suffocate them.” She tried to sound discreet, though the red haired, scantly clad and jingling girl was anything but discreet. Especially when she tried to wave down the invisible Fae, almost hitting Grandpa in the head.

It was clear that Meredith didn't find any humour in his response and she was not at all amused that he was even bothering to poke fun at it. She didn't have a sense of humour when it came to murder, maybe some people and some hunters did, but she certainly did not and right now her trigger finger was itching to put this vampire out of his misery. However, she held her fire for now, choosing to hear his explanation of everything and what he had to say for himself. In no shape or form did he make excuses and try to justify what he did, something she found was pretty honourable of him but that didn't get him off the hook by any means. Not only that but she had a question for him, having dipped into his thoughts earlier when he'd been in his blood lust.
"I let that girl die but with the small amount of time I've had to think this through I decided that there was a reason that I let you go. Normally I don't hesitate to blow something's head off if it's threatening someone who's ignorant and innocent. My salvation would not be to kill you, it would be my retribution for you, my revenge to kill you. As easy as it'd be to just double team you and kill you right here and now, I'm not going to. That being said I'm not going to turn a blind eye on you killing innocent people, either. If you have to feed you have more options than that. Give a hobo some peace of mind, end a terminally ill person's pain, get a blood packet from me. I'll let it go this time but next time if I catch you killing someone who has their entire life ahead of them you won't be sitting on the chain link fence with me anymore; you'll be shoved off and left to be claimed by the dogs on the other side. Catch my drift?"
It was clear that letting the girl die horribly disturbed Meredith but at the same time she knew that she'd turned Elyan loose for some reason. Perhaps it wasn't fully clear to her yet but she had let him go and the action in itself said enough since she was a pretty true shot and didn't tolerate vampires or anyone else's unjust killing for no reason other than to satiate their own selfish desires. "Maybe I let you go because I know you're here for a reason that isn't to make my life hell. But before you go, since I'm sure you'll choose to because hanging around the lead hunter of New York probably isn't in your best interest, who were you referring to when you said 'she'? I may have been out of it but whoever 'she' is that's your purpose here, is it not? Perhaps the hunters could be of assistance."
Definitely too nice for her own good, not only was she letting a vampire get away with killing a girl but she was offering to help him find the person he cherished so dearly. She didn't know why she was willing to help, perhaps because she'd lost Veroen and felt that karma would reward her if she helped Elyan find his lost love but whatever the reason was she was willing to help. Of course, she didn't expect him to accept her offer, nor trust him. However, she wasn't a back stabber and she wasn't going to get her revenge upon him for killing that girl. Had she been certain he was to die then he wouldn't be standing before her reminding her of the fact that she'd let a life go to waste for him.
Meredith's eyebrow, raised, however, when the Fae happened to cross her potential line of fire. Though she wasn't able to see him the scent he exerted caused her to sneez upon inhaling it. The after shock caused her to shake her head and twitch her nose in slight irritation. What the hell was that scent and why was it so potent? It was making her sneeze and this was beginning to irritate her. It was kind of like pollen but much more dense ... like that stupid pea soup saying ... "What the hell is that God awful smell?"

Julian's hand zipped into his pocket immediately and withdrew a cigarette and a match, he offered them to her and continued watching the Vampire. He didn't have time for distractions right now, and just forced them into her jangling hand. He exhaled sharply, his eye slightly darting to the girl "My name ain't Grandpa, kid. Now put some clothes on, you look like a harlot" He said this bluntly and in a matter-of-fact way, not trying to disguise his opinion. He, like she had stated, was old, and that meant that all social niceties were thrown out of the window with him. Thems the rules.
It was when he could feel the breeze on the back of his neck from a hand flying past it that he turned slightly, clearly disgruntled. "Look kid, I don't know if you noticed, but you and yer boyfriend are stumbling upon a bit of a confrontation here, why don't you go run along to the arcade or something?" He said this as condescendingly as a grandfather asking his grand-child if they would like to go on a ride at the carnival, but the young brat seemed to have the intellect of a child, so she would be treated as one. He wasn't against kid's smoking, though. Thinned the buggers out a bit, at least.

It went without saying that she was being far too kind. Any other hunter would have gladly taken this opportunity to put a bullet through his heart. What made him so special as to deserve such treatment? He had done everything to get onto a hunters hit-list and he was being let off and for what?
"Your kindness is likely to get you killed," Elyan commented. "What makes me more deserving of such kindness compared to the next cold-blooded killer?" He took two steps forward, the look on his face not changing.
Elyan was taken by surprise at the fact that she mentioned the purpose of him being here in New York. This topic wasn't one he found easy to swallow nor deal with. His face dropped its stern look and replaced it with one of concern. How was he supposed to properly respond to such a thing?
"We don't need any help." Beside him stood the physical manifestation of his vampiric nature; having now made his child-like self his permanent appearance. His left arm held snugly onto a stuffed rabbit, the other wrapping around Elyan's left leg. Elyan by now knew how this side of himself came to exist in the physical world. This physical apparition was created by his own mental abilities, with his bloodline ultimately responsible for giving his vampiric nature such an existence. Luckily, it didn't always make itself visible nor did it always take on a physical form.
"The circumstances are not something you could begin to understand," the child continued. "Plus, there is a side of you which has a personal vendetta against us." With that final remark, the child's face carried a slightly sadistic look before it was wiped away by the appearance of two new strangers.
"We're in the middle of something. Get out of our way." Elyan surprisingly responded to the girl's intrusion. Even he was taken aback by his own actions. To him, it sounded like something the child would have said.

This vampire sure didn't seem very grateful for just being let off the hook for doing something absolutely horrendous and attrocious. She shrugged upon the irrelevant comment of her kindness because she already knew that being nice didn't get her anywhere. She didn't need a vampire to come tell her that, however, she still hadn't learnt her lesson or something because she was still being nice and still letting things go. The reason for why he'd gotten off the hook was still unclear to her but she knew that had she been one hundred percent sure she would have killed him last night and even now. If he wanted her to shoot him then that suited her purposes equally as well and it could, indeed, be arranged.
The wolf within her came more to the forefront as the vampire stepped closer to her and her eyes snapped yellow and her throat sounded a gutteral warning to him. "For being let off the hook you're sure an ungrateful b-----d about it, not even a f--king thanks. Why do you care if you're let off the hook so much anyhow? What does it matter? You don't have a bullet in your face or your nonexistent heart, can't you be satisfied with how well things turned out for you? Asking me why won't do you any good because I don't fully know why I'm letting you go myself so that lets you know I'm still kind of on the fence about this issue so I suggest you take your good fortune while you can. It can easily be changed and arranged so that you don't meet up with whoever it is you're searching for. As easy as this, actually ..." She whipped out her gun and shot the vampire through and through, dead through the forehead. Fortunately for him, though, the bullet happened to be a silver one and it did not incinerate him from within.
"Boom, headshot. Guess I win this one. Anyhow, this goes to show I'm not amused and if you piss me off again that bullet will be made for a vampire instead of my kind next time. Don't test my temper, I can be nasty when it's called for." She reholstered her gun and stored it away, completely nonchalant about the fact that she'd just blown a hole through the vampire's forehead. Her eyes retained the venomous gleam that the yellow, wolven eyes attributed her with and she fell silent as the manifestation and abomination spoke to her.
"Whatever. You don't need any help my a**. I could have killed you just now but whatever, sure you don't need help, kids know what they're talking about. And who said I needed to understand the circumstances in order to help? Whatever, offer made, offer declined and it won't be made again. You kill someone innocent, I shoot you for real next time, understand? I'm not going to play games with you and keep letting you go. This is a one time thing and if you blow your chance then I guess you can kiss your girly you can't even find goodbye because it won't matter after you're dead." She smiled somewhat sadistically, having pulled her gun back out of it's holster in order to twirl it around her finger. She really wasn't in the mood for arguing with a kid, not at all. The throught crossed her mind of shooting it as well just for laughs but she decided to retain some maturity.
Upon the vampire yelling at the girl, she did nothing and made no comments in regards to him doing so. She could care less who he yelled at and if the girl was that addicted to smokes then she was well on her way to lung cancer central. Meredith might have given the girl a little lecture but it seemed that Julian had things under control from that stand point. Perhaps he'd never had a kid but he sure acted like a typical old man not appreciating the amount of skin teenagers seemed to enjoy showing off these days.

James walled down the street, trying to ignore the slpitting headache he had. One hand on the butt of his revolver under his jacket, the other holding a half empty bottle of whiskey. His hat was pulled low to cover as much of his face as it could.
He glanced over at the few people outside, he knew one of them was a wolf, but between the headache and and drink he had already comsumed he couldnt be too sure which of them it was. " Excuse me...do any of you know the time?"

Meredith, aside from the potent scent she was inhaling that was causing her to sneeze and irritate her nose she could now smell alcohol, whiskey. She was confused as to where the smell had wafted in from and at first she actually looked over to Julian with a raised eyebrow until she realized it was, quite in fact, coming from the other direction. The wolf scanned the street and surely enough there was a man with a hat pulled over his eyes so that all she could see of him was his mouth. Her eye brow instantly raised once she realized that he was probably just some poor drunk guy that was wandering the streets until he came closer and asked them a question. "It's probably at least two in the morning. You should go home, it's not very safe out if you haven't heard."

James grinned sourly, he knew which one it was now. The poor fool had answered him. He knew there was also a vampire, but he was useless at telling which, only the smell told him one was even there. " Oh...well I think I can handle myself." And in a blur of speed no human could match he pulled his revolver and shot at her. Even slightly buzzed his aim was still at least pretty good. "Damn wolf."

"F--K!" Was the only thing the hunter leader shouted in response to him beginning to pull a weapon out of his coat, though her voice was drowned out by the bang of the gun. She reacted pretty fast and managed to get out of the direct line of fire but as she whirled out of the way she felt the bullet taking a large portion of her shoulder right out along with chipping some of the bone. "OW! WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT FOR?!" She was growling at him now, her own gun pointed at him, though the good arm was the one holding the gun. Meanwhile her injured shoulder began pouring blood down her arm and she drew farther back from James in case he decided to shoot at her again.
"I really think you should go home now, before someone gets hurt ... well ... before I get hurt more or decide to maul you because you're pissing me off. Seriously, what provocation was there? I told you the f--king time! What reason does that give you to shoot me!? Are you f--king nuts or something?! You don't just whip out a gun and shoot whomever you please, you know!" It was clear she wasn't too happy about being shot, then again, not most people would and now she was bleeding pretty well and thanks to the solid silver embedded in the wound it wasn't about to heal itself on its own.
