Miyuki nodded at this with grin, "Andarien likes it when she plays, but he likes music a lot."

Mainly he liked it from his music box, though it had been a long while since he asked for that.

"I wonder what they're like..."
Miyuki looked back at the figurines thoughtfully.

Wren smiled gently at Miyuki. "Who knows? Maybe someday you'll have the opportunity to meet one of them."

She wouldn't have the same opportunities as the elves, but with all the traveling she did, who knew? Besides, it was no secret that her parents had the most extraordinary luck when it came to their adventures.

Miyuki nodded in agreement as she looked at the other figures.

"Look! It's a glass butterfly! It looks like the one that's been clinging to Mommy's back."

She had noticed that but didn't think much of it as the city did have a lot of greenery.

Lin for the most part hadn't noticed, but then again she had forgotten having spent time in places that weren't breeding grounds for the little critters. Nevermind the fact she hadn't retrained her own butterflies since she had adopted Miyuki.

So when she heard a whisper in her ear and a tickle along her neck Lin realized she forgot something.

"Bugger...." she muttered trying not to pay too much attention to what the voices were saying.

She didn't need to know other people's business.

Earendil reached forward to brush the butterflies (for they were plural) from Lin's back, but before he could there were whispers of strange arrivals in the city, outsiders and oddities.

"It might be handy to find a way to repel the butterflies," he suggested softly. "It might come in handy in the future."

Wren giggled at Miyuki's comment. "So I see," she grinned. "Are you fond of butterflies?"

"Maybe I should ask Shiro if there is natural butterfly repellent," Lin replied quietly as she leaned against Earendil carefully, "I've been trying to find a way to repel them for a long time and they don't seem to have the understanding to for me to tell them to leave me alone, or maybe I still need practice?"

She honestly didn't know, while it was useful to have them, on the other hand she didn't need to know what people thought of them.

Miyuki had to think about that, "I guess so, they're pretty and some of them are shiny..."

And there was no denying that Miyuki liked the shiny.

"But I like cats more."

Earendil put one arm around Lin and held her close. "Perhaps you need practice, perhaps it's just because they come and go, and it's different butterflies all the time," he replied softly. "They don't have long lifespans anyway. By all means, ask Shiro if there is a repellent for butterflies. But don't forget that they could at times be useful."

He smiled at her, wishing he could do more to help her. He just really didn't know what to do, what to say.

Wren tilted her head thoughtfully. "I've seen cats in the Human Southland," she mused, "but that's it. They use them to help with their rodent problems. We don't have that here, so we've never had a need to bring cats to our area. But cats are not kept as pets, like in your world, either. Few animals are kept as pets, if any. We prefer to allow them to live free, as they were created."

She smiled. "There are exceptions of course. The birds that we use to send messages, horses that we use for riding and for working in fields, the falcon that Alassëa uses as her eyes. Still, they are exceptions to the rule."

"As long as Andarien doesn't try and eat them, there is always a chance to practice while we're here," Lin murmured.

It would be nice if she could control it after all, because otherwise the only thing she could do was listen to them so they could leave.

"But they're not really pets, they're more working partners,"
Miyuki replied, "Sen-sen is.... I don't know what she is, I don't think she would like being called a pet, but she doesn't work like Saki or Wish, not that I know what Saki use to do."

Saki hadn't had to 'work' for a long time, it was a wonder why the poor cat wasn't bored out of her skull.

"All the more reason to make sure he has a few toys to play with," Earendil chuckled. He glanced at Wren and Miyuki. "It doesn't look like Miyuki's still looking around ... perhaps it's time for us to go?" he suggested.

Wren grinned. "Whether Sen-sen likes it or not, if she doesn't work, she's a pet. Don't ask her opinion on the matter - it's a fact."

"Sounds like it," Lin nodded with a smile.

Though it just looked like MIyuki at the moment was more interested in talking than she was in looking. Sometimes she was easily distracted Lin found.

"Oh... okay!"
Miyuki nodded to Wren before noticing her parents were watching them instead of looking. She waved.

Earendil smiled and waved back at Miyuki. "All set, then?" he asked her.

Wren turned to bid farewell to the girl who was minding the shop before joining the others at the door.

Outside, she could see that the children were still playing with the ball in the grassy area, their game just as intense as when they'd arrived at the glass shop.

Miyuki simply couldn't help but watch as they exited the shop. It looked like they were having a lot of fun.

"So where to now?" Lin inquired as she looked over to Miyuki, all the while brushing away a stray butterfly that was trying to land on her ear, "The jewelers perhaps?"

Maybe that would grab Miyuki's attention long enough.

"Sounds good to me," Earendil agreed, watching Miyuki thoughtfully. "Miyuki?"

He could see that Miyuki wanted to play with the children, but he knew about the general attitudes in the city and he wouldn't help but wonder if it might be better for her to wait until Amalirahc and River were here with her, so that she wouldn't be the only different one in the group.

"Hmm?" Miyuki tore her eyes away from the children playing and looked up at her parents innocently, "I wasn't paying attention, sorry."

Lin chuckled and she understood why Miyuki was so captivate, it had been a long while since she had played with a large number of children.

"I was wondering if you'd like to go to the jewelers,"
she replied.

Miyuki thought about it before nodding, "Okay!"

Playing can wait, besides the others weren't with her.

Earendil smiled, then put one hand gently on Miyuki's head. "Perhaps we can come back tomorrow, with Amalirahc and River," he suggested. "They might like to play with other children as well."

He held his hand out to her so that she could hold it if she wanted to while they made their way to the jewelry shop.

Miyuki's ears perked up at the suggestion and she nodded excitedly, "Yea! Then we all can play together."

She quickly took his hand and let him lead her to the next place. Though really it was Wren leading.
