((*yawn* Ugh, last time I let one of my friends pick the tabletop game, I swear. No game should have THAT many rules, pieces, and cards, nor should a single turn of play have FOUR different 'phases' and take...oh geeze, I wanna say ten minutes, but even I know they must have taken longer than that....))
Riley looked up at the giant chunks of cloud that floated higher up and held environments and locales far different from one another. He guessed they belonged to the gods and wondered which one Van could be on, all while tapping his foot impatiently. Maybe it was because he'd already had his fill for the day, but he wasn't terribly thrilled with Alana deciding to have a snack break now of all times.

"For my own sake I'm not replying to that." Mala said with a soft sigh, not wanting to get any false images of Van and Val getting at it. Especially not now, in a time like this. {Lol, ouch. Sorry you had such a poor time with it.}

Eventually, Alana clapped her hands and called, "Oh, Atius? I have a proposition for you!" She knew the god could hear her; they could all hear someone summoning them.

((I! SAY! NAAAAAYYYYY!!! *pushes button on Plot-Twist-o-Matic*))
Atius, being the egotistical old-school god that he was, had his portion of heaven basically looking like a temple, with his throne as part of the altar. The fat god was nowhere to be found, just Van sitting in the middle of the room, hair falling into his face as he looked down at something in his hand as his wings slowly dissolved away into golden sparkles that scattered to the air.

Mala blinked a couple times in surprise at Atius' not coming to the call. She waited a few more moments, noting that he still wasn't coming. "What's going on? Is he just ignoring us?" she asked in pure puzzlement.

"I thought I told him to change this," Hekate murmured absently, not paying any attention to anything as she looked in disapproval at the temple. "Really. My realm is much more humble, just a forest resembling one like my children enjoy. So lovely. And he chooses this. What a p***k."

"Had to use the last resort..." Van said getting to his feet and walking over to them. "You'll probably want to find a much nicer replacement ring before you go tossing this into the nearest ocean." he said taking Mala's hand and putting the ring in it. The old ring that had once upon a time held Van, now held Atius himself.

Alana squealed and hugged Van. "Yay! True love prevails! Someone finally put that b*****d in a position where I can torture him for eternity! I think I love you, Van." She paused. "Well, not like, love-love. The kind of familial love that vampires who aren't shagging share." She didn't have to turn around to know Val had her middle finger up.

Mala still looked utterly confused, though she certainly didn't have any complaints about having Van back. "Van? What happened before we got here?" she asked, now gazing down at the ring with much confusion.

"He wanted me to let him sleep with you for a night, but of course I wouldn't let him..." Van said glumly and with slight disgust. "I disobeyed a god, Mala. That's a death sentence for angels. If I'm going down, I want to make sure he's gone too." His wings had disappeared by now, and now his body was slowly starting to dissolve in the same way, going from the feet up.

Hekate focused abruptly, shouting something in her language, making the process stop, then slowly reverse. "I can hold it off," she said quietly. "But he needs to get his godly powers back."

"Damn it, Van, I'm not letting you kick the bucket. Not after we've gotten so far!" Mala said with much annoyance, yanking Van towards her into a tight hug. "Can't you just apply for fallen-angel status or something? Sign under the service of some other and more forgiving god until you can earn that promotion back?!" She wasn't giving up. She refused. After hearing what Hemate said, she paused for a moment. "I know we can get your powers back, Van. We just need to figure out how."

"You know the rules, Hekate, you and I both know it's pointless." Van told her. "Angels that go bad get to be fallen angels; angels that flat out disobey a god's direct order get killed off." Van said returning her tight hug, a few tears escaping his eyes and streaking down his face.

"Van, don't you DARE give up on me now!" Mala exclaimed, seeming to get most angry at Van's attitude now. "We've gotten through so much already - we can get through this!"

"Follow this direct order," Alana said. "Don't die."
Hekate laughed wildly as the energies started to bunch together around Van and then blow away only to attempt to reconvene. The ancient magic was confused. "Mala, you can see the energies, no? Most of my children can, and you have their powers. They're confused. They don't know what to do, because if he dies, he disobeys a direct order. Isn't that lovely?"
