"I got my PokeDex upgraded just this morning," Kasiya commented idly as she and Dante headed back into the laboratory. Twilight was still sticking close by her side even as they got back inside. However when he was approached by the Heracross, he took a slight step back, his ears and tail quivering slightly. He didn't know what to make of the female Heracross, though he did think that her horn looked kind of dangerous. Kasiya waited for a gap in the conversation between Professor Oak and Dante before she spoke up again. "Well, I guess I'd better take off," she said, holding up Twilight's Pokeball and recalling the Umbreon when she saw him yawn sleepily. "I'm going to bike up north towards Viridian and start on Nova's training. Thanks again for everything, Professor," she said, giving a polite little bow then stepping forward to hug him.
"Uh, well, yes, of course, it's no trouble at all," Oak laughed, patting the girl on the back. "You are always welcome to come and visit," he added. "I'm sure all the Pokemon appreciate it."
Kasiya nodded, then turned to Dante. "It's good to see you again, Dante," she said, giving him a hug as well. She didn't know him too well, but her mind needed reinforcements to remind her that she still had some friends out there. "If you ever need anything, you have my PokeNav number, right?" She bid the two farewell once more before she headed outside, and set up her bike. Her body still felt quite achy from everything yesterday but she wasn't going to let it bother her. She decided to think of working through the pain as a form of training for herself, as she could stand to be a bit tougher as well.
The more she moved and flexed her muscles, the less pain Kasiya felt as she biked north along Route 1, and this was uplifting as she thought about the morning's events. After leaving Oaks lab, parcel safely stowed in her pack and having completed the unexpected trade with Ryka in which she became the proud new trainer of Twilight, the blue-ringed Umbreon, she had decided to head for the Viridian Forest in order to try and get some training in with Nova before she headed back to Hoenn. Her thoughts kept trailing back to the trade she'd just made and how happy the Skitty seemed to be with her Ryka. Kasiya had never seen the kitten bond with anyone so quickly before. In fact, she'd never seen any Pokemon form a bond like that with anyone, not ever. Twilight seemed happy enough with the trade as well, even more so now that Kasiya had rearranged her party for the umpteenth time that day to include the newest member to her team. I hope Allie isn't too much of a handful for Ryka, Kasiya thought, having barely been able to keep up with the hyperactive Skitty herself. For once in the last twelve hours or so, Kasiya's thoughts were happy ones as she continued to pedal north.

Before she'd left Pallet Town, Professor Oak had informed her that there was a ship leaving for the Sinnoh region tomorrow at around noon from the Lilycove City harbor. If memory served, the easiest way to get there would be to head back to Slateport, probably by ferry from Vermilion, which she could fly to, then ferry from there to Lilycove, but Slateport was absolutely the last place she ever wanted to visit again. She also doubted that she was the only one who felt that way about it, too. She could also look into ferrying there from Vermilion itself, but she wasn't sure she could handle being on a boat for that long. Of course I could also ride the train from Saffron back to Hoenn and fly to Fortree and get to Lilycove the roundabout way, she reasoned, deciding then that she would worry about that later. She'd get there, and right now that's all that mattered.
Kasiya forced her thoughts back to happy ones, like the fact that she was making her way to Viridian City not only to train Nova a bit, but also to try and recapture that first-time sense of adventure she'd acquired on the very first day of her journey. In her mind's eye she could still see herself walking along the route, her hair still incredibly long back then too, a young Eevee bounding along beside her. After about twenty minutes of riding, she skidded to a stop and dismounted he bike before folding it up. She could see Viridian City in the distance, but she didn't want to go there just now. She knew as well as anyone else that one of Team Rocket's main hideouts was located there, and it was taking every ounce of energy she had not to storm the place herself. Stop thinking that way, she told herself as she walked over to a large rock and scrambled up on top of it. I can't go rushing in by myself, 'cause that worked really well last time, she reminded herself sarcastically. I'll think of something... but for now I just have to let them think that they've won. Yeah, that's it.
She took Nova's Pokeball from her belt and released the young Charmander, glad to see that the lizard seemed to share her enthusiasm for adventure today. The baby looked around eagerly, eying every little thing that so much as moved, her green eyes wide as she investigated everything. Kasiya sighed and looked around as well, wondering if there were any Pokemon around that she could have Nova battle against. The area she was in was almost deathly silent, as there weren't even any Pidgey or Rattata around, and they were by far the most common Pokemon to these parts. "This isn't as exciting as I thought it would be," she mumbled, watching as Nova poked at a rock, then proceeded to look under it. "Okay, at least for me," she giggled, amused by the Charmander's curiosity.

The duo hadn't been resting there for more than five minutes when a voice rang through the air. "Hey!" Kasiya looked up from her perch atop the rock to see a young boy, maybe about eleven or so, looking at her from the path. He wore khaki shorts, a bright red t-shirt and brand new trainers, as well as a red and blue baseball cap which he wore backwards over his sandy brown hair.
Kasiya didn't like the way he was looking at Nova. "Hey yourself," she replied somewhat hesitantly.
The boy glanced at her for a second before looking back at her Charmander, a bit of a grin etched onto his face. "You just left Pallet Town, right?" he asked suddenly.
"Well, yeah," she answered, again somewhat hesitant, sure she knew where this was going. "But I-"
"I knew it!" he cut her off, pumping a fist into the air. "And that means that you just got your first Pokemon from Professor Oak, and you're one of my rivals!" he went on, pointing at Nova. Nova's eyes were wide with intrigue, and she obviously had no idea what was going on.
"No, you don't understand," Kasiya protested, but the boy had no intentions of listening to her at the moment. He seemed
"All right, Rival from Pallet," he shouted, trying to make his voice sound all official. "My name is Mikey and I challenge you to battle... uh...?" he trailed off slowly as he realized he hadn't asked Kasiya her name and his cheeks flushed with embarassment.
Kasiya, who'd been smiling lightly at the fact that the kid's name was Mikey, stood up and hopped down somewhat gracefully from her rock, wincing a little as it caused all her prior injuries to radiate pain. She was glad the way she wore her bangs covered the medical tape and stitches on her forehead. She didn't know why she lied to the boy, as they didn't know each other and he couldn't possibly know anything about her, other than that she'd just come from Pallet Town and that she had a young Charmander with her. "Rachael," she said, nodding. "My name is Rachael."

"Okay then, Rachael," Mikey said, laughing. "I challenge you and your Charmander to battle! We can go one on one, or two on two, if you have more than one Pokemon," he offered, though Kasiya could tell by his tone that he was doubtful of that fact.
"You're on," Kasiya replied simply, looking towards her young Charmander. "You're up first, Nova!" Sure, this wasn't what she'd had in mind for training, as Nova had never battled before. But, she reasoned, now was as good as time as any to get the little firebrand some experience. Though she'd never been in a battle, Nova had seen more than enough of them to know what Kasiya wanted her to do. She quickly jogged over to take position in front of her trainer, flaming tail waving eagerly behind her.
Mikey nodded, once again eying the Fire-type. "Okay then, my first Pokemon will be," he paused for dramatic flair, and Kasiya giggled appreciatively, "Squeakers!" He'd pulled a Pokeball from his shorts' pocket and had thrown it out in front of him, revealing the small, purple Mouse Pokemon known as Rattata. Kasiya smiled, knowing that many new trainers made either Rattata or Pidgey their first capture, especially if they started out from Pallet Town. The Rattata looked to be fairly brave as it pawed the ground and eyed Nova suspiciously. "I'll even let you have the first attack!"
"What a gentleman," Kasiya said, very much amused by this kid's spunk. At this point she didn't have the heart to tell him that she wasn't a newbie trainer just starting out, but if perhaps Nova could defeat his two Pokemon on her own, then he could carry on his journey with a drive to get stronger and never know the truth. "Okay Nova, get in there and Scratch it!" Though, she had to admit that she did feel almost like a new trainer. Had she not received Ariel's egg from her father on her birthday earlier this year, she probably would have gone to visit Professor Oak, and she would have indeed chosen Charmander as her starting Pokemon. Nova let out a fierce little growl and charged forward, slashing at the small purple mouse with her claws.
"Watch out, Squeakers," Mikey called. "Use your Tail Whip and then fight back with Quick Attack!" The Rattata, obviously quicker than the Charmander, sped towards his oncoming attacker, pivoting on its back feet and smacking Nova in the stomach with its long, curled tail. Despite being in the middle of an attack, it seemed to startle Nova, though she carried through with her swing and gave a toothy grin as her claws dug into the mouse's shoulder. Squeakers didn't seem to notice it though as he quickly sped away from the lizard, turning sharply and hitting her from behind with a speedy Quick Attack with enough force to send her stumbling forward.

Okay this kid may have just started out but either he's been training a whole bunch or he went to trainer's school or something, she thought, a little taken back by Mikey's battle strategy. Not only that, but Squeakers was clever and responsive. I guess we'll have to step it up a little... I foresee a champ in the making, she mused with a smile. "Okay Nova, let's show them your new Dragon Claw!" Nova nodded, rubbing the sore spot on the small of her back where she'd been hit, not wanting to get hit by it again. She'd have to be a little more careful. Sensing the rat's presence nearby she spun around quickly, stray embers drifting up from her flaming tail as her entire right arm began to glow with a bright, indigo aura. She let out a fierce grow as she swung, catching Squeakers under the chin with an uppercut motion that sent the smaller Pokemon tumbling.
"Whoa, what was that!?" Mikey exclaimed, his eyes darting from Nova to Squeakers and then back again. "Did you say Dragon Claw?!"
Kasiya smiled and nodded. "I sure did. Dragon Claw is a TM that Charmander can learn, so I decided to give her a little more variety in her move pool," she explained, watching as little Squeakers pulled himself back up and tried to shake off that last attack.
Mikey nodded. "Yeah, I'll be looking into those when I get some more money," he said. "They're expensive..." He grinned, and pointed back at Nova. "Now give 'em your Tackle!" he shouted. A sharp little growl escaped the purple mouse as it darted forward, throwing all its weight into the tackle as it neared Nova. This time, Nova saw the attack all the way and stepped out of the way, gracefully hopping from foot to foot, her body glowing with the same indigo aura her arm had just a moment ago. "Okay, now what was that?" Mikey asked curiously. "And just how loaded are you?"
It was Kasiya's turn to be perplexed. She shrugged, and shook her head. "Well, I'd saved up quite a bit of money," she admitted. "But I don't know what that was..." she trailed off, and darted over to her backpack, where she pulled her PokeDex from it's usual side pocket and pointed it at Nova, running a quick scan over the baby. "Scratch, Growl, Dragon Claw, Flamethrower," she read, already knowing that these four moves were all Nova had at her disposal. Though, when she spotted a fifth entry, her eyes widened. "Nova, you know Dragon Dance?" Kasiya asked excitedly, and Nova nodded happily. "Awesome!"

Sam was tired. They had been traveling along Route 3 for a very long time, and the mountain looming in front of her didn't seem to be getting much closer. She sighed and hung back a bit. Orion kept walking.
"Hey wait up!" she cried as she realized he wasn't going to stop. He turned, surprised.
"Huh? Oh, how'd you get that far behind?" Sam rolled her eyes, but lowered her head so Orion couldn't see.
"I saw a pokemon. Hadn't seen it before, so I wanted to check it out." Orion nodded, completely believing her lie.
"Well let's get going. You can check out the pokemon in Mt. Moon if you like."
"Is that mountain ever going to get closer?"
"Well yeah. There's the entrance to the cave right there." So there was. It was a gaping hole in the wall, dimly lit by lanterns. There was a pokemon center next to the hole.
"Let's grab some lunch before we move on. I want to feed Star and Miles."
"Good idea. I need to feed my pokemon too." They walked through the sliding doors, and were greeted by the ever-delighted Nurse Joy. They waved, and proceeded to the cafeteria. Sam released Star and Miles, and they bounded towards the buffet. Orion took out three pokeballs, and released a Pikachu, a mouse-looking blue and white pokemon Sam didn't know, and a weasel-looking pokemon, orange with blue markings and a strange yellow ring around it's neck. They were all extremely cute. Sam raised an eyebrow.
"Why the cute pokemon?" Orion scowled.
"I couldn't bring my others, they aren't so compact. They wouldn't be able to fit in some of the crawlspaces, and I wouldn't have released them here. I do have another pokemon with me right now, but I don't want to scare anyone. He's a bit...untrained." Sam unconsciously took a step back.
"Uh okay then...what are those two anyways?" She pulled out her pokedex.
"Pachirisu, the--" she cut it off. She only wanted to know the species.
"Buizel, the--" She shut the dex. She looked at Orion.
"Sinnoh pokemon?" He nodded.
"I traveled to Jubilife City in Sinnoh, to get a Poketch. I caught some pokemon on the way." They proceeded to the buffet, and loaded up on food. Sam shoved her pack full of food, so full it was almost bursting. She swung it around, not caring that she smushed the food. She shouldered it with a flourish.
"Let's go! To Mt. Mooooooonnn!" She screamed as she dashed out the door, Orion following. He shook his head and laughed at her excitement. She was just like a little child. She disappeared into the hole, and was quickly swallowed by the darkness. He panicked, and ran after her. It was dimly lit, but he couldn't see her anywhere.
"Sam? Sam? Where are you?! Sam!"

The robber peeked out the dusty window, noting that the tall brunette and her little entourage had stopped outside the warehouse's rusty doors; he could hear the mute pats of the dog's paws against the steel entrance, and he knew they had been more or less found. Well at least that dinosaur wasn't around. If it was just a dumb mutt and elephant, his resources were more than enough to at least give is ride enough time to swoop in and steal him and the loot away. It was a time game. A game he would likely win, too; all he had to do was wait inside, what with that heavy door in between th --
WHAM, and the whole building shook. The man toppled over with an astonished yell; what the hell? WHAAAAAM again, and the steel door cracked; the next impact yielded Tora, who in typically Tora-fashion put in a little bit too much effort and went spiraling far into the darkness of the warehouse. She recovered and spun neatly back around to meet with M.A., Daemyn, and Diego as they gingerly came in, however.
Ulani was nearly in tears at the sight of them, though she would never admit to being happy to seeing that hot-headed canine. Daemyn, meanwhile, was infuriated at seeing the Swablu rolled up in duct-tape like that, though he'd likewise never admit this. He was about ready to charge at the man and get at his jugular when the robber raised up a hand. "Woah, woah, now, let's act a little civilized, shall we? You could have just knocked," he said in his southern drawl, regaining his composure. Time for Plan B, he supposed.
"Could you please give me back my Swablu and the egg?" M.A. asked politely, the pinnacle of naivety amongst a demonic Houndoom and a destructive Donphan. Diego sat down on top of a cardboard box and began to sketch the scene abstractedly; M.A. was the little princess in a fluffy dress sipping tea while sitting on a fire-breathing dragon controlling a wrecking crane. With a little color, he thought contentedly, it'd really be something.
"The Swablu, I suppose," the man conceded with a smile. "You probably did catch her and have some merit there. But the egg... What claim do you have? You were careless and let the poor thing out of your sight, and the same of its mother. It won't know the difference between my taking care of it and yours, I'm sure."
"But... Wait! You can't just take something like that!"
"Who says? Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do? Yours morals are not mine. By your ethics, what I'm doing may seem unfair; it seems far to me -- but either way, what does it really matter, fair or unfair. Are you going to try and fight me? Violence is warranted in your book?" the man asked, his cordial tone turning malicious as he sneered at M.A.. Daemyn, not liking this in the least, foamed a little out the mouth.
"How uncouthly. If we must, let's take it outside. It's rude to wreck someone else's property," he drawled, casting a lazy eye at the wreckage that had once been the door. M.A., a little muddled up with the question of morals, merely nodded and stepped out; Daemyn snarled with his eyes keen on the man to make sure he didn't do anything funny, which he didn't. His Zangoose, however, bashed Ulani on the head as he picked her and the egg up and that nearly sent the Houndoom feral -- Diego was somehow there on time to stop him with an aloof paw, though. It'd be unwise for the reckless Pokemon to charge when they had hostages, one of them being fragile.

"Aren't you persistent!" Even after a Dynamic Punch this guy was still going! That Zen Headbutt or whatever must be a pretty good attack..no, more than that it was the Shelgon using it. "Alright Medicham, if they're going in for a direct attack then let's meet them head on once more! You aren't the only one with new tricks up their sleeves, Medicham counter with Force Palm!" Medicham nodded, a bit uncertain about the move choice. This was a move they had only practice a few times, and though Medicham had good control over his energy flow the move was still awkward to use. But Medicham didn't have time to argue, so he simply acted. Standing in place Medicham waited for Shelgon to get closer and strike with her newly formed claw shooting his palm out to counter. His open palm nearly touched the glowing claw, but seemed to be protected by a field of some kind as Medicham channeled his energy outwards to block and counter the Dragon Claw. Medicham's own aura forced itself out from his palm trying it's best to push away the attack, the strain even greater than that of him doing it with his own body, fighting against the might of the Endurance Pokemon. But in the end the claw penetrated hitting him across his chest, and with a last surge of loose energy Medicham was blasted back. His chest stung a great deal, but he held his palm with his free hand as it felt like it was burning. "Aww man, you ok buddy? Guess it's not ready yet." Shoot, Medicham was nearign his limit now, the opponent was a lot stronger than he would have thought. Brawly was looking at his second loss if he wasn't careful.

London looked to the screen, committing his target's face to memory. It shouldn't be too difficult to find him, Lilycove wasn't that huge. Deciding to once again ignore his boss's borderline creepy remark, as he seemed to have done a lot in the last ten minutes or so, he instead decided to address a slightly more important issue. "What happens if he leaves before I get there? I trust I will be informed?"
He didn't look away until Giovanni had held out the ball, finally shifting his gaze away from the display. Offering his Pokemon so easily? London was a bit taken aback by this, but quickly shrugged it off and took the Pokeball from Giovanni. "Should I report back here directly once I'm done, or would you rather I contact you from there?"

"If he happens to leave before you get there, we will inform you," he explained, "however, we are fairly certain that he will not move from this location. As he plans on continuing his journey in the Sinnoh region, leaving Lilycove would mean risking missing the ship. Now then, as for your report." The man cleared his throat and looked down at the other boy. Giovanni just realized how much taller he was than London.
"Report to me when you have arrived back to the base. I want to know how strong he's become, and whether you managed to plant the device. I will have a mission for you when you return. Understood?"
-*-
Mazarin snapped his fingers over and over, wondering exactly what the heck "Faisceau Signal" meant. Whatever it was, it really seemed to hurt Shiftry. The Grass-type Pokemon stumbled back a few feet, barely managing to hold on. "Now that's not fair," Mazarin mumbled, "You can't just up and take advantage of the situation like that. That's cheating!" The boy dug his foot into the dirt and swung his arm forward.
"Attack with Giga Drain!" Shiftry began to wave his leaves into the air, throwing out large spores that looked more like empty green bubbles. These bubbles floated right towards Lanturn, ready to sap away at his already-dwindled health.

Oh, he was only just now realizing how much he dwarfed the brat? London barely came up to the Rocket boss's stomach, and he was only just now noticing it? It was perhaps a good thing he couldn't hear Giovanni's thoughts, because if he had caught that little snippit, words would have been exchanged. Words he would very likely get in trouble for; so maybe he was a little touchy about his height, but hey, he still had years ahead of him to grow.
"Understood. I'll be on my way, then." London took one last look at the computer screen, at Kilik, then turned about to make his way from the lab. "You can be expecting me back with a positive report, of course."

As the boy left, Giovanni crossed his arms over his chest. London was a powerful trainer, and a Psychic was very beneficial to Team Rocket despite the man's hatred for any who have the ability. He was ready to leave the lab when a scientist ran up to him. "What is it?" the man growled.
"Well, sir!" he panted heavily, "It's a major breakthrough! We've finally succeeded in not only cloning the Master Ball," he gulped still breathing hard, "but we've managed to fuse its technology with the specs we've developed for the Rocket Ball!" Giovanni's eyes flashed for a moment. Had they done it? They had finally created the perfect device for capturing Pokemon? A smirk drew over his lips.
"I appreciate your report," he said, walking passed the man, "However we will not need this new ball for some time. One of the best operatives for stealing Pokemon has been assigned to a mission currently, and I have plenty more in store for London." He put his hands behind his back.
"Sir! With this technology, it doesn't matter who goes out to capt--"
"Are you questioning my decision?" the man growled, wheeling around. The scientist felt all the wind suddenly leave his body and he started to choke. "Nobody," Giovanni whispered, clutching tighter on the man's throat, "questions. my decisions." He dropped him in a heap, and left the lab, his smile widening as he heard the man gasping and coughing for air.

By now, Kasiya could tell by the look on Mikey's face that he had an idea that she was more than what she seemed, and yet again she felt her irritation grow at being underestimated. However, that didn't seem to stop the spirited boy. "Quick Attack!" he shouted, deciding that the best course of action right now was to continue on the offensive. Poor little Squeakers was starting to look a bit shaky, but it ran forward nevertheless, growling and baring its teeth.
Kasiya wasn't sure how much longer Nova would be able to fight, though she still looked like she could carry on, at least for now. She couldn't say the same for the Rattata, though. "Counter with a Scratch!" Kasiya shouted, knowing that there was no way that Nova could outrun the small, purple mouse. Nova grit her teeth, trying to keep her eye on the rat as it neared, gasping in pain as it slammed into her stomach, knocking the wind out of her. Nova weakly swiped at her opponent, claws outstretched but she got nothing but empty air. That hit had left her breathless and now she struggled to get back to her feet. This battling business was harder than it looked!
Okay this is stupid, Kasiya thought, inadvertently shooting a glare Squeakers' way. It's a silly little Rattata, we can beat it, she told herself. "Pull yourself together, Nova! Flamethrower, go!" Getting to her feet, Nova nodded. That sounded like something she would be doing a lot. She breathed deeply, letting her body relax while she built up the fiery energy inside of her.
"Hah, we've got this one in the bag!" Mikey shouted. "Okay Squeakers, finish 'em with a Tackle!" Once again his fist punched the air, and he watched excitedly as once more his Pokemon darted forward, taking aim at the same spot he'd struck once before.
"Do it now, Nova!" Kasiya shouted fearfully. "Flamethrower, c'mon!" She knew Nova could win her first fight, she just knew it it. The Charmander opened her mouth and let the stream of flames fly at the oncoming mouse, her aim surprisingly accurate.
=-=-=-=-= That same stinging, burning sensation that Medicham felt in his hand seemed to radiate through Shelgon's body as well, and the Endurance Pokemon shuddered, trying to focus her sights on Medicham. It was difficult for the confusion from the earlier Dynamic Punch still lingered, making her mind muddled and foggy. Jaeshan knew that her last attack had been a lucky strike and he wasn't about to rely on luck for the rest of this battle. Shelgon still had a lot of stamina left and he wasn't about to let her waste it by injuring herself. "Shelgon, return!" he shouted, and the shell-clad Pokemon was withdrawn back into her Pokeball by a swift beam of red light, and thus ending her confused state as well.
"Okay Combusken, I need you now," he called out then, tossing out his last usable Pokemon. If Combusken can finish off Medicham, she can probably also put a dent in Brawly's last Pokemon, and then Shelgon can wrap things up, he thought, pointing at the Meditate Pokemon. "Take 'em out with a Flamethrower!" Jaeshan shouted.
With pleasure, thought Combusken as she took several sprinting steps forward, flames already spilling from her beak before she opened it and expelled a tremendous torrent of flames towards the Fighting/Psychic-type.

"TACKLE!" Both Venerax and the labrat called out to their porygon simutaneously.
The two virtual pokemon hurtled across the silhouette battledground turning up dust as shot towards each other. They collided again and again. Their data sparking with each blow. The collisions were costing Calculus more than the other porygon.
Venerax knew he had to change the strategy, if they were going to win. "Calculus! Pull back aand use Psybeam!"
Calculus halted his momentum and dodged to the side of the other porygon's tackle. Hopping back more, the virtual pokemon sent a beam of multi-hued ringlets flying at its opponent!

Both Mikey and Kasiya watched with unblinking stares as Nova's intense Flamethrower came to an end. The little fire lizard's chest was heaving from the effort but she was quite happy with that attack, and was pleased at how natural it felt to use it. Squeakers had collapsed into a little heap some few feet away from the Charmander, completely out of it. Kasiya winced and looked away. As much as she wanted her Pokemon to win, she hated seeing other peoples' Pokemon get hurt. Mikey gasped and ran out to scoop up the little mouse in his arms. His eyes opened a tiny bit and he grinned up at his trainer before he closed them for some much needed sleep. Mikey sighed, recalling the little rat into his Pokeball before he adjusted his hat. "Well, I wasn't expecting that," he mumbled, reaching into his other pocket and pulling out a second Pokeball. "But, luckily I have my Ace! You won't get past Michelangelo! I choose you!" he shouted as the sphere was sent flying.
Kasiya shouldn't have been surprised as a Squirtle emerged from the Pokeball, hopping up and down and clapping it's hands together happily, but unfortunately she was. "Why didn't I see this coming..." she murmured, frowning and shaking her head. No wonder he'd thought she was his rival - after all Professor Oak gave new trainers a choice of three Pokemon to start their journeys with: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and of course, Charmander. He must have thought that she'd received Nova from Oak back in Pallet Town. I can be so dense sometimes, the girl thought, shaking her head again.
"Looks like the game is in my favor now! Michelangelo, use Water Gun on that little firebug!" Mikey shouted, pointing at Nova. Nova didn't even have time to react as suddenly a strong jet of water had struck her square in the chest, sending her tumbling head over tail backwards, her tail flame hissing angrily as a few stray water droplets hit the fire, wisps of steam drifting up as they evaporated quite quickly.
"Oh, Nova!" Kasiya cried, making it to the Charmander's side in only a few strides. She dropped down beside the fallen Pokemon, who seemed to be more irritated that her body was all wet rather than the fact that she'd just lost a battle. She looked up at Kasiya, green eyes wide, and whimpered apologetically before her eyes closed, and she was unconscious. "You did really well for your first battle," Kasiya smiled, now returning her to her Pokeball. "Really well." Kasiya stood up and returned to her original position, once again facing Mikey. "Okay, you asked for it," she grumbled, knowing that she should show this kid a thing or two by sending out Rosemary, but that would be just plain mean. "Let's go, Twilight!" she shouted, throwing the Umbreon's Pokeball much more forcibly than needed. The blue-ringed Umbreon materialized in a burst of gold and blue sparkles, and his golden eyes narrowed when he realized he was being sent into battle. Immediately he took up a defensive stance, ready to try and impress his new trainer.
