"Heh," he began, "I'm afraid that none of those names mean anything to me. I'm not from these parts... I'll keep it as simple as that." He was on his feet now, with his left arm wiping off the blood which had escaped his mouth as he had fed. Elyan found her to be rather intelligent as a huntress; the blood packet idea would be an excellent way to distract a vampire that was in a similar condition as his own. He was sure there were plenty of newborn vampires in this God-forsaken city which were left to fend for themselves. His sire had been different...

"As for my name, it's Elyan Maxwell," he answered, keeping his voice quieter than normal. His name would clearly show his roots, both being rather old English names. The vampire woman he had met only an hour earlier never bothered to ask for his name. But, it was best for him not to have his name spread around the city too fast. It was bound to happen but, this woman had shown him mercy, it was the least he could do.

But, now that he had the chance to clearly examine her, it was rather clear that she was a huntress. Her build differed from any other woman you would find in the streets. Rather, she was strong. There was no telling how many beings she had slain in her lifetime. Elyan knew that getting on her black list meant that he would be hunted down by the hunters found here in New York. He'd try to not let that happen...

"Well can't expect you to know my name if you've never been around these parts now can I? Quite frankly, before this city went to s**t I had no clue that I'd actually had a run-in with the lead lycan of this place or any of the names of the vampire elders or even vaguely who the demon elders were. It's pretty crazy when you think about it seeing how long I've been here and just the fact that I'm a hunter. I suppose New York is a big place, though and it hasn't brought me together with them yet." She shrugged and went about listening for his name when he began to speak again.

"Hm ... Can't say I've heard your name around here either, Mr. Maxwell. Is there, uh, a particular reason you're practically whispering to me in regards to your name, though? I mean, I'm not hard of hearing or anything but there was a difference in audibility for sure." She looked a slight bit puzzled by his change in volume though it probably wasn't something she really needed to be overly concerned with, she just happened to be curious.

As she was waiting to see if he was going to say something further she realized he was scrutinizing her and sizing her up, something that she experienced all the time but had never gotten used to. She hated being stared at or examined for prolonged periods of time, it was just awkward to her. However, as she was standing there about to say something she caught a snippet of his thoughts again and smiled at what she'd accidentally picked up. "No need to worry. It's pretty damned hard to get on my bad side, but yeah if you piss me off the entire hunter force could potentially be after you. But anyhow, if you're not from these parts what brings you to our wonderful pit of perpetual hell?"

The wind swept with great disgust at the scene held around a central figure sitting on the corner of a building's roof top. Below him nameless beings moved towards a destination not quite known to them. Diego smiled as he scratched a booger from the inside of his nose and flicked it onto an unknown passer by.

Elyan hesitated at the question. After all, it was not his goal to have his name or his goal spread throughout the city. It usually led to greater opposition and the risk that they would move to another location.

He merely smirked. "I've said too much already." He turned his back to the woman, cocking his head back towards her. "I'm sure we'll be meeting again soon enough, this world is so very small." He began to step further and further into the alley. His boots tapped the hard concrete with a light clicking as they scrapped across the gravel.

Meredith raised an eyebrow at his smirk, not content with his answer but able to take the hint that she wasn't going to get a better response than that even if she did pursue the topic. People were entitled to their secrets and she wasn't going to intrude upon them but at the same time she knew it'd gnaw at the corners of her mind and keep her wondering. To make matters worse he decided to just flat out leave then and there after the response to make it all the more suspenseful but she supposed he had his reasons. At the very least if he wasn't there then there wasn't the temptation to be nosy and question him further.

"You must be a pretty secretive person if a name is a lot to be giving out. Whatever. Yeah, who knows, New York is a pretty big place but eventually you bump into one another. Guess I'll see you then." She didn't plan to be a creep and watch him disappear down the dark alleyway so once he turned his back she turned hers as well and began making off on her own.

Tonight she had her forest green trench coat which was an inch or two from brushing the ground, majestically sailing through the air as the wind caught it. Her strides were perfectly even, her combat boots tromping upon the sidewalk before her. She was not careful to be quiet but she was listening carefully beyond the tromping of her foot wear. She wasn't sure where she was headed next but she decided to try the park since people and creatures alike seemed to like causing fusses there.

Elyan's piercing eyes watched her as she took off. He was relieved, an encounter with someone like her could be detrimental to him in so many ways. But, what mattered now is trying to find a place to sleep before the sun decided to rise.

Utilizing his incredible speed and agility, Elyan made his way onto the top of one of the buildings which helped to create the alleyway. One by one, his boots touched onto the dark, dirty brick wall of the building as he scaled the building with no effort at all. The building was rather short in comparison to the other buildings seen in the distance.

Although, he spotted a building which happened to catch his eye and it wasn't too far from his current position. With swift reflexes, he easily made he way across the buildings without as much as a sound, cleanly landing in a nearby alleyway. From there, he mingled into the crowd without a much as a distraction.

"Perfect..." He smiled at the thought of how easy it was to still move around, even in such a crowded city. But, that wasn't an excuse to still think his movements carefully. Mortal eyes weren't the only ones on the lookout.

"Las Noches, an interesting name," Elyan commented as he made his way inside.

Nightingale walked down the streets, she loved how New York never slept, she closed her eyes as she took several steps with her eyes closed as she took a slow deep breath in. She could smell the life pulsing through the streets. Tonight she had off, but she made sure she was always on call, no one can really take a break at what she does for a living. If Nightingale were to run into any vampires on her night walk she'd report it to the house as soon as possible.

Nightingale stretched as she walked through the streets, feeling a little loose and happy she decided to go grab a drinks at one of the night clubs.

"This is such a game to them, isn't it?" Elyan questioned within his own head. Already, he knew he wasn't acting like himself. Yet, he didn't feel like he wanted to stop himself. He was lost within primal instinct, the urge to consume the blood of mortals had taken hold over his mind and body. And unfortunately for this girl who happily wrapped her arms around his, she had no idea what consequences awaited her.

From behind him, Elyan caught a slight feeling of hatred, a betrayed feeling. His mental senses were on fire, it seemed. Maybe it was his usually dormant hunting instincts finally making themselves known?

"Don't let her get in our way, Elyan..." It was the voice from before, only this time it felt closer, more intimate. Elyan only began to slightly chuckle, before it became a rather loud roar of laughter.

"You don't have to worry about that. Nothing is going to prevent me from getting 'her' back." He replied to the voice, shooting a rather fierce look in the opposite direction. His eyes revealed his desire, a dead give-away of danger. But, Elyan merely cocked his head back towards the direction where he and Amber were walking. He was going to play along with the game everyone else in this damned city seemed to partake in. It wouldn't be too hard to lose her. He'd just have to take advantage of the maze-like layout of this city. Plus, she wouldn't dare try to hurt him out in the open. Not only would it cause trouble for her and her organization, but other vampires might not enjoy the unneeded exposure.

Of course, the concept of hunting wasn't actually a game in Meredith's mind, it was a job and a duty unto which she felt she owed her fellow hunters, the innocent and herself to fulfill. She realized that the innocent could very well include other races that weren't human and that was something she was hoping her leadership would be able to teach the hunters under her. That while it was a duty and that there were rules and guidelines, that at times going by the text book simply wasn't the thing to do and you had to think for yourself a little and use that thing called a heart and your brain. Sure it could unsettle things and upset them but humanity was called for in a hunter, she didn't want monsters hunting for her be they human or otherwise.

At first the lycan huntress hadn't picked up on the vampire's intense mental awareness but once he reached out and managed to grasp her sense of betrayal she realized that he'd been able to tap into her in the slightest. Instantly she errected, from memories of being taught by Krii when she'd possessed such abilities, a mental barrier in order to keep him from entering her mind. Unfortunately for her, she'd have to keep a close eye on her surface thoughts since they were easy to leak and surface emotions would be even more difficult to contain and keep to herself. In this case, though, she didn't want to share anything with him, he didn't need to know these things but it was probably too late, he knew she was following him.

She decided to try projecting her thoughts, though, her mental voice to him to see if there was some way of preventing this from getting violent. 'Hey Elyan ... can you hear me? I'm probably pretty fuzzy, I'm bad at this and haven't done it for a while but hopefully you can hear me a little. I have no idea if that's you, I'm going to guess no but that girl you're with, you're going to kill her if you don't let her go right now. And unfortuantely, it's my job to protect her so if you don't let her go I'm going to have to physically intervene. Under normal circumstances I would have shot you already but you seemed like a nice guy so I'm going to give you a chance. I realize that you're probably being overridden by the thirst but you have to fight it. You're about to do something you're going to regret forever.'

While she was somewhat linked with him yet barred off at the same time she picked up on his thoughts to himself and how he wasn't going to let anything prevent him from getting some girl back. That was when the glare struck her and for a moment she lost her connection to him mentally and instead her hazel eyes sustained the glare that'd been shot at her. As for hunting him out in the open, people already knew things about the place and had seen vampires and whatnot destroy their loved ones so she wasn't about to cease her job now simply because a mortal or two might see, hell, they'd probably already seen. Again, this time out loud she tried to persuade him, "Hey, Elyan. Fight this damned monster, it's getting the better of you!"

She stood there, prepared to take some form of action, her hand having already come to rest at the holster of her magnum, the one loaded with UV bullets. Of course, if she had to keep up with him she certainly could, giving chase would be a lot more convenient now that her body was physically stronger and built for such things. Extreme chases she hadn't been able to keep up in before wouldn't be a problem now and she was prepared to run her a** off to assure that no harm came to that girl. Of course, she was probably listening all the while and was probably starting to get freaked out at this point. "Better yet," Meredith appreared a fast blur for a moment and appeared beside Elyan, "why don't you hand her off to me before someone gets hurt?"

Elyan's eyes shifted towards the Huntress as her blinding speed allowed her to lessen the distance between them. In-fact, it was the first time he had witnessed her utilizing her Lycanthrope abilities. He moved his right arm, wrapping it around the young woman like a warm embrace.

"I'm afraid I'll have to decline on your offer," he slyly replied, "but, I appreciate the offer." Elyan revealed a rather cocky half-smile, revealing his rather sharp fangs. The girl was under his spell, her mind under his control now. No matter what Meredith said, it wouldn't sway the girls opinion.

"Plus," Elyan continued,"I don't think "He" would be happy with me giving up the girl. And, I don't want to disappoint him with my foolishness, anymore." He kept walking, keeping his head turned slightly towards the woman.

Eden didn't particularly care to use her lycanthrope abilities unless she felt it was necessary, that was the human side of her limiting the beast she had to coexist with now. It hadn't been allowed to run free yet and she knew that eventually she was going to have to allow her side to do such. However, right now wasn't the time to be running loose and losing her mind when she was trying to get a vampire to hand over someone that was a potential victim. She didn't exactly feel keen on experimenting and introducing her wolven self to a vampire that was trying to kill someone. Her hunter instinct overrode her lycanic desire to simply let loose and pummel the living s--t out of this vampire and tear it to shreds without any second thoughts. 'Oh if only the world were so simple ...'

'Oh but it is.'

The huntress jumped out of seemingly no where, startled by the other voice that'd accompanied her thoughts and she warily looked around for another source of the voice but could find none.

'Humans are so foolish, I'm you're other half, you're not going to see me anywhere but you'll hear and feel me, I'll make sure to remind you I'm here.'

Meredith shivered at the cold words of the lycan inside of her and she tried to dismiss such thoughts, hoping that if she ignored the voice and didn't answer it that it would go away and leave her alone. After all, such tactics sometimes worked in regards to bullies, why not try it on her other half that could reason out why she was doing it or knew her better than herself? Yeah that was probably going to go over well but this hadn't happened up until now ...

's**t ... that mind link must have been you waking up and getting mad at me ... D**n this sucks ... But I'll deal with you later, right now I'm busy so piss off.'

Trying to get through her own thoughts as well as those of Elyan and the voice inside his own head was beginning to overload Meredith, thus forcing her to completely pull out of Elyan's mind. She had a major headache now and it was coming on fast and probably going to get worse and worse. However, she managed to ignore it and managed to formulate a highly irritated sentence all the while her hazel eyes became an inhuman yellow. "Who the f**k is this 'he' and 'she' you keep blabbering about?" Her mind was starting to numb, this certainly wasn't good.

An evil grin grew on Elyan's normally gentle face. He was enjoying this game more than he had thought. Of course, all logical reasoning for as to why he had changed had been thrown completely out of the window. Elyan merely extended his left hand forward, pointing towards a place only a few meters in front of them.

"That is "He"," Elyan merely replied. Before them stood a young child, probably no more than eight. The young boy sported pure-white hair and rather fair skin. The boy's build was thin and meek-looking. He was dressed in a rather old-looking outfit, clothing you wouldn't see in today's world. In his arms, a stuffed rabbit was being tightly hugged. At first, he carried a look of pure innocence. But, a very similar, evil grin grew upon his face. His eyes carried a lust-filled look, with a faint, red glow about them. In his mouth, fangs gleamed in the faint light of the sidewalk.

Before they knew it, he had quickly moved, holding Meredith's hand. He then looked into her eyes, and merely smiled again.

"Don't you recognize me?" He asked, with a hint of sarcasm in this child-like voice.

(( 'Tis a good question ... >.> - cues it - ))

Whether it was the lycan or the human staring into Elyan's disturbing grin, it didn't really matter for neither cared for it and responded to it in different manners. Of course, Meredith had no intention of just letting herself go in a public place such as thing in a time of such danger and in such a grim situation. If she made any wrong moves then this girl wasn't going to see the light of another day and this vampire was going to have his fix. This was resting on her shoulders to do something about it and so far she found herself still standing there absolutely s**t all, certainly not something she would have done had she not seen how upset the vampire had been before. The lycan, though, did not agree with Meredith's conflicting thoughts and thought her weak for hesitating.

Meredith turned and once she realized the young boy was darting toward her she released a subtle grow, courtesy of the lycan nagging to intervene and destroy whatever it was that was placing it in harm's way. It didn't like the source that it could feel on the outside, vampires was what it smelled and yet this puny human had done absolutely nothing about them so far. It was clear that the vampire wasn't going to be nice and friends with her over having its meal. It'd caught its prey and it wasn't about to give it up without a fight. 'Why do you hesitate, little human? Too afraid to hurt the little wee vampire?'

'Oh would you come off it?! I'm not going to rush in, God knows you might be the one doing it only for me to realize it too late. That and I don't want that poor girl to get hurt ...' Meredith stood there, arguing not only with herself but now with her other half, the side she hadn't really met until now. However, she was now focused upon the fact that she needed to make a decision and she needed to make one fast. Was she going to take action and take the vampire down before he could bugger off and lose her or was she going to try and wait this out to see if Elyan would come to his senses? The latter option didn't seem very plausible at the moment but she could always hope, couldn't she?

It took the human side of Meredith a few more seconds to realize that something cold was holding onto her extremely warm hand and she jumped at the realization. Her jump back to reality slammed into her brain and made her head hurt even more than before due to the fact she'd been inside the depths of her own mind subconsciously seeking out the lycan in attempts to silence it. However, there hadn't been any luck for her and now a child was holding her hand for some reason.

Upon further inspection the child seemed like he was rather ... old school, in fact, beyond old school, he could be from the good ol' mideval times for all she knew. Again it took her a while to formulate a sentence but this time the factors involved were confusion and shock. She didn't really know what to say at first and the little kid was creeping her out. Vampires always creeped her out when they were little kids, they just seemed so much more malicious somehow ... "Uh ... I don't think so, no? You look an awful lot like Elyan I suppose ... Why are you holding my hand?" It was clear she wasn't very comfortable with the situation and the lycan inside her was growing ever restless at the human half's foolishness and tolerance.

The child giggled at the woman's response, showing off more of its sadistic side. It let go of Meredith's hand, running towards Elyan, embracing his left leg as any small child would to a parent-like figure. From there, it turned its attention back to Meredith, giving another small smile.

"Don't you see," the child began, "we are one in the same." The adult Elyan merely smiled in response to the child's statement.
