I made a suggestion for added account security last night, came back today to find it had 3 pages of replies, half loving it, half hating it.
The idea was a lockout feature. Such as, if you have a static IP address, you can turn on a feature that will only allow you to login from that IP.
To help safeguard against mishaps, there'd be an email override. If you need to access from another PC or so, you attempt a login, then when it says it's locked out, you click the override button, and it sends a link to your email address. You click that link, and your account is no longer in lockout mode.
It didn't hit me at the time, so I posted tonight another idea I had. Account names being seperate from Gaian names.
For example, we all know each other's login names because it's the names we have on Gaia.
However, what if the names we had on Gaia are what we wanna be known as, but it NOT be our account names?
Another example:
Say Nelowulf here had an angelic halo. Anyone wanting it already knows what account to hack because it's Nelowulf. But, if his account name wasn't the same as his Gaian name, they'd be clueless what account to attempt to hack into. This would make hacking thousands of times harder, because they'd know Nelo has a halo, but not what account Nelo is tied to, so they'd be no closer to getting their hands on it.
