It is more of a visual thing. You can more easily identify the leader and they look cooler that way. Reputation also comes to mind, the Red Devils or Arnhem Knights of 1944 for example, or the German SS grenadiers with splinter camo field caps.
My Krieg and Elysians are a refreshing change though, all have helmets.

That always struck me, too. All the people who would be sniper targets, the sargeants, the commanders, all of them have no helmets; sniper bait.
My Space Marine commanders all have helmets, though I'll admit that my IG commander does not.

I plan for my drop troops to be uniformly helmeted, Navy desn't exactly get a choice xd
My tank commanders, on the other hand, are uniformly helmet-less.

Actually, drop troops are not part of the Imperial Navy, they are still Imperial Guard. Navy simply supplies the aircraft in some cases, though these are most commonly operated by crew local to the drop regiment itself.

Navy simply supplies the aircraft in some cases, though these are most commonly operated by crew local to the drop regiment itself. I'm aware of that. I should have been more clear I guess. I was saying that I am giving all my drop troops (a guard regiment) helmets by choice, but that my Navy pilots(I'm building lightnings) don't have a choice, as their helmets are crucial to surviving high performance flight xd

So, I'm about half way through building this Lightning, and I was wondering if anyone here has ever used them?

I've only got experience with them in Aeronautica Imperialis sadly. Do you have any pics of it?

Lady Blodwynn I've only got experience with them in Aeronautica Imperialis sadly. Do you have any pics of it? I've always wanted to try that game, but there is nobody at my LGS that plays it sad And, I can get pic's of the wings, and guns, but I've hit an impass with the body. After sitting their staring and fiddling for hours last night, I gave up and put all the bits away. I don't really have the proper equipment to complete it, as it's far too rounded near the front. I was going to attempt a thunderbolt, but I don't have enough plasticard left. It wasn't the best night. So, I guess today I'll polish off another tank, and maybe do up a prototype for my grenadiers. If I get industrious, I might throw together a flak tank conversion kit.

Someone owes me ninja So I get FW stuff. This one? "Model includes Death Korps of Krieg driver, pintle mounted Heavy Stubber and gunner, three seated artillery crew and equipment." Or that one? "Model includes Death Korps of Krieg driver, pintle mounted Heavy Stubber and Grenadier gunner, Grenadier passengers and hull-mounted Heavy Stubber."

What are those, Centaurs?
Personally, I like things with a bit more firepower cool

I want me a Centaur and I like both, it's for my long term dream of having a large siege regiment.

Then I'd say the second. I like the heavier look of it.

They (both) remind me quite heavily of the Russian APCs of WWII.
