Nix laughed, "because this is where Chelsea is, of course!"

Leo shook his head, "he's taking my order for him to keep her safe far too seriously. she would never be harmed by her own people."

Mama smiled and sat down, "now, my child, i have a feeling i know why i was called here. Henry said you know nothing of your parents, is that right? he came to me, asking about them, wishing to know their story. i told him of the bear couple that traveled to Nalaenir with some of their clan, planning to live in the mountains there, but were killed before they reached their destination. Their names and their lives before they left us. I had heard they welcomed a daughter to the world on their journey, but i had thought her lost too until i spoke with your father." she smiled and put her hand to her cheek, "oh my! it seems i've told you much of their history already. and without asking if you wanted to hear or not, how rude of me!" she winked at Chelsea, "but there was one thing he was rather emphatic about. he wished to know if there were any members of your family still alive, do you wish to know the answer, my dear?"

Tralf could tell how this was effecting Chelsea and started to get up to call an end when Mama sat him back down with a glare. she might be old, but no one dare defy mama. "I looked him in the eye and told him he was a damned fool. 'of course she has living family, he's sitting right in front of me!' i said." Mama nodded, satisfied with herself, "he worried with all that was happening, you would start asking him about your birth parents again and he wanted an answer, but you're no child! you know who your real family is and it ain't the people related to you by blood, child." she stood and patted Chelsea's hand, "so don't you worry, my dear. no matter how many children he has, you will always be his special little girl."

Leo stopped outside of a cave and looked at the tree next to it. "come on out, Hasta."

There was silence for a moment before Hasta stepped from the tree's shadow, "you called?" he acted as if he'd come because he was summoned, not because he'd been found.

Nix smirked and stroked Rin's head, "not gonna work, Hasta."

Hasta scowled at the girl, "let's move elsewhere. then i'll hear what you were looking for." he lead them away from the cave, not wanting to be overheard. "how can i help you?"

Mama walked to her and kissed her forehead, "of course, dear. and if you ever wish to know of your clan, let me know, or Talf here and we will teach you what you wish. you are his child, but still have bear blood flowing within your veins and from your scent, you haven't awoken that side of you, hmm?" she nodded, "if you ever wish, we shall teach you. well, Talf here will, i'm an old woman! can't expect me to go shifting here and there!" she herumphed as she head for the cave entrance, "takes too much energy, leave that to the younguns, i say!" and she was gone, out the door and down the path, going on about the young needing to do more around here.

Tralf shook his head, "and that's Mama. she has he own way of doing things, but i am glad she was of help to you."

Amai moved to Chelsea and climbed up in her lap. he put his head on her chest and sniffed deeply, "she smells like a bear, papa." he looked into Chelsea's eyes, "what did mama mean?" he stood on her lap and began to study her, shifting her head with his hands on her cheeks, trying to see what made Mama say she hadn't awoken as a bear yet.

"Amai, that's rude, get down." he lifted the boy off, "sorry, Chelsea, still teaching him manners. what mama said is true, though. if you want, i can help you."

Hasta pulled the papers out from inside of his pocket. his pocket shouldn't have been able to hold them, but they came out easily and without a single wrinkle, "here they are. i also got some extra instructions, Al has been informed of what happened. Lewis is trying to figure out how to fly the army up to Kasp, but the rest of the castle has not been informed.he said to leave that to the King."

Leo nodded, "thank you, hasta. you've worked hard."

Nix snorted, "no he hasn't. he popped there for a few minutes and came back to moon over Chelsea. if he was 'working hard' he would have brought it straight to you instead of making you find him."

Hasta glared at Nix, but there was really nothing he could say to defend himself, what she said was true.

Leo rolled his eyes, "None the less, he saved hundreds of lives yesterday and has worked hard. let him moon as he likes, he earned it." he smiled, but Hasta wasn't looking at him. in fact-he seemed to be blushing.

Tralf grinned, "i see, and would this King be the same cat i smell not too far from my cave?" he lifted an eyebrow, "you are right, it doesn't help to force it, but i can teach you the methods. at least that way, if there is a need, you'll know what you are doing instead of having to rely purely on instincts."

Amai lifted his hand, "I'm learning how to! can't hibernate until you can shift, too little to shift, so i'm learning. i want to take month long naps!"

Leo snatched the papers from Elliot before they could get drool on then, "honestly!" he shook his head and made sure they were ok, "hands would be useful, hm, dear naked husband mine?" he shook his head, "thank you, Hasta."

Hasta nodded, "Anytime."

Nix looked at little Rin before sighing and laying the kitten across his father's shoulders. "be careful, now." she walked to Hasta, "can you give me a lift to the castle? i need to talk with some people and want to see the girls."

Hasta lifted an eyebrow, "what makes you think i'd give a ride to you?"

Nix grinned, her little face turning nymphishly evil, "I could always go and talk with Chelsea about some of the things you were wondering when you stood outside the women's dorms this morning. i'm sure she would love to hear that you want to know if she sleeps in the-"

Hasta ran to put his hand over the girl's mouth, his face as red as his hair, "OFF TO NALAENIR!" they were gone in a blink.

Tralf lifted his hands, "hey, i've got nothing to do right now. most of my people are sleeping, so really, this is the most boring time of year for me. making a new friend is exactly what we need." he held out his hand to Chelsea, "so, how about it? will you be my friend?"

Amai grinned and held out his hand as well, "me too! me too!"

Leo shook his head, "i worry about her sometimes. and i did tell you you would be hot, didn't i?" he turned back towards their house, taking a different trail that would get them there instead of at the dorms, "come along, love." he scooped Rin into his arms and cradled the baby between his arm and chest, his hand still holding the papers.

Hasta dropped Nix off in the castle entrance and she gave him a small wave before running off to find either the girls or Kashi, whichever came first.

Tralf's smile was a bit strained for a second before he shrugged, "nope, there is nothing to worry about."

Amai nodded, "Mama's dead! and Tralf's single. are you looking for a mate? you should mate with Tralf!"

Tralf blushed, "There is such thing as girls your are friends with, Amai!" he shook his head, "Sorry, he's in the phase where every woman i meet should become my mate."

Leo shrugged, "it can't be comfortable for the baby to be carried like that for long periods of time, you know. as soon as you change back you can carry both for the rest of the day, deal?"

Nix smiled as she slowed down, "Hi! thanks for the warning, i wanted to come and see the girls, missed them! oh, and i want to see Hasta, he needs a hug. do you know where he is?"

Amai squealed and struggled to get away, laughing, "ok, ok! no mating!" he finally pulled away and looked up at Chelsea, "if you have to wait anyways, will you be my mate when i come of age? i'll take good care of you, i'm going to be strong like Tralf!"

Tralf rolled his eyes, "be careful, he has an excellent memory. say yes and you just might have him appearing on your doorstep in fifteen years, ready to take you straight to bed."

Leo laughed, "promise, he needs to have time with other people as well, not just me. it isn't healthy to cling so much, even if he is only a baby." he walked into the house and shut the door as Elliot shifted, "but it's because he is a baby we need to start now." he put the boys down on a blanket in the living room and placed the papers on the table, "hmm? oh, that's fine. the boys are content figuring out how to use for legs, so take your time."

Nix nodded, "thanks! i'll see KAshi first, don't want to interrupt lessons!" she waved as she hurried, but didn't run, to the room she'd been directed. she moved quietly, and Kashi was distracted, so she didn't think she was heard. as soon as she was close enough, she jumped, leaping onto Kashi's back and wrapping her arms and legs around him. "SURPRISE HUG!"
