one thing that i have found effectice against Space marrines is the sub-munition from the Hammerhead. I know the points cost is a bit steap, but the tau rank-and-file are largely ineffective. The only thing that is cheaper in XV8's with missiles.

You will be surprised how effective are basic troops on rapid fire with few markerlight hits to up their BS... 24 bs 5 pulse rifle shots statistically kill over 4 marines. Though for ultimate marine killers a selection of XV-8s with good ap weaponry is unbeatable, plasma rifle and fusion blaster with multitracker allows 9 ap1-2 shots at close range, tankbusting capability included. With 2 markerlight hits it can easily decimate any marine squad in single salvo :3
In any case markerlights are invaluable force multipliers, either to improve BS or deny cover saves.

only issue is that they are heavy. I know that our troops aren't exactly moblie killing machines, but if you want to get in rapid fire range we have to move. Thats why i leave marines to suits. Now, guard on ther other hand.... twisted they fall by the dozens. I have a local that still cant beat me. and any one who knows my luck, knows my dice hate me. I switched recently and they still hate me.

Ever heard of fish of fury? Fire warriors get mobility and armor from devilfish, and once deployed can usually unleash full salvo at optimum range.
Plus devilfish makes nice obstacle on the assault route to yiur fire warriors, plus cover against shooting :3

no, that does work. i just dont always use it. I like to keep opponents guessing as to what is in my fishies. I like to put kroot in them every once in a while. Makes for a surprsie when they think they want to assault. hehe.

my tac marines just flame/bolt any kroot getting in the range, and with power armor tend to win in melee too... fire warriors are more trouble since they have decent armor and better guns

their armor is better, but i have lost more fire warriors to double-strength weapons then anything else. that is their only real problem.

Well, I think that's due to there not being many S6 weapons that don't break Tau armor. I can only think of one gun (Multilaser) that is S6 that they get saves against.

4+ save as far as I remember. Makes taking Heavy Bolters in Infantry Squads oh-so-rewarding.
