are there dif. sized mouthpeices cause the band teacher said we should probly by a better mouthpiece for better sound?it's not true is it

your ignorance hurts me...it really does.

of course your mouthpiece will make you sound better/worse depending on how well it's made and how it's formed. to be honest, your mouthpiece makes more of a difference to how you sound than your horn. i recently played with a college honor band with people from 3-4 different states in my area and i was the second chair clarinetist. i play on a plastic, student model vito clarinet. i use a gigliotti mouthpiece. most everyone else in the band used wooden clarinets. if i had a wooden clarinet i'm fairly sure i would have been first chair(there was hardly any difference in skill, the first chair clarinetist even had less control in the upper register)

mouthpieces make the biggest difference in the world
my ignorance hurts u huh well ur rudeness hurts me it make me want to die i just can't stand rude ppl lik u i ask for one piece of info and this is wat i get!

So my mom's calrient got fixed. It sounds amazing. Apparently it was one of the first Normandys. Which is pretty cool. I am in love with it. And I could barely believe it was the same instrument. they removed the tarnish on the keys, replaced all the pads, replaced a cork or two, and put soem special oil on it to help with weather reactions from the wood. We are currently looking into getting a recommended humidifyer for it, because my mom used to live in a more humid place when she palyed it then we live now. It wa skind of annoying though because she was whining about how she wanted to paly it, yet when I offered it to her to play she ignored me.

But then she noticed I was using my mouthpiece.
Mom: I think the orgiinal wooden one is in the case.
Me: I didn't keep it in the case, but i do have it. I prefer to sue mine though.
Mom: It will sound better with the original.
Me: I'm pretty sure it isn't the original 'wooden' mouthpiece, seeing as it is plastic.
Mom: Then it is the wrong mouthpiece.
Me: It was the one in there when you first gave it to me.
Mom: Well, try it then. it might work better.
Me: >.> Fine
So I tried it. It was really thicxk! It was weird. I don't know how you could play on that mouthpiece. I like mine better. It has a good sound, even if it isn't a good brand at all.

And it makes me happy. the annoying tendancy to be impossble to tune on open G isn't existant on this clarient. my old one would alsways be sharp or flat on open g, no matter what I did. The slightest adjustment would change it drastically. Open g is still a bit out fo tune, but not nearly as much, and it is easier to control. The wooden clari(kiki) is also a bit slimmer then my old Claribelle. The thinner body makes it easier for me to do faster fingerings. It is way easier to go over the break on it too.And best yet, the high notes are much darker then on my claribelle. Which is nice, ebcause my bd was just complaining about oru high notes the other day, and now if he does another random aprt check on the aprt he was complaining about I can show off a bit. (Then maybe he will ahve some confidence in me making allstate>.>)

there is no such thing as "being rude". it is, however, possible to be perceived as 'rude'. if i am perceived as "rude", that's not my fault. it's your fault for being overly-sensitive.

there is most definitely such thing as being "ignorant". it's not even dependent on how it is received. ignorance is ignorance.

something may be rude in YOUR culture, but it could be the most polite thing in MY culture.

if you're ignorant in YOUR culture, you're undoubtedly ignorant in MY culture as well.

if your mouthpieces don't tell you what brand/size they are, then they're probably stock mouthpieces and you should most likely get a new mouthpiece. stock mouthpieces usually suck. even stock mouthpieces that come with professional instruments suck.

i don't like you smile i don't want you to like me. if i had wanted you to like me, i would have been "nice"

on a side note, it's considered "rude" in most cultures to vent your anger on someone who didn't invoke it smile

well it sounds like that's your fault for not having your spare(which i'm assuming means you only have one) with you. whenever i need to do something important and i'm not allowed to take my case with me, i take all 5 of my spare reeds with me. plus i take my reed clipper, just in case.

just in case someone decides they want to break my reed on the day i need it most smile . nobody ever MEANS to break a reed, so expecting experience players to never break one is irrational. sure inexperienced players ( i won't mention any names smile ) break their reeds more often, but experienced players still break reeds.

YOU'RE the one who asked why i would need my reeds while i'm performing smile . if you knew already, why did you have to ask?

that's exactly what separates professional musicians from amateur musicians: preparedness. i'm not implying that i'm a professional musician, but i'm at least forming habits that imply a higher level of musicianship.
