Val pouted. "But I like fighting!" She sighed dramatically and leaned against Alek. "Although I think diplomacy is our best bet for survival."

"It really depends on how many of them have turned to Van's side. If they all still hate his guts, we shouldn't risk a big brawl. If some of them have accepted his change of heart over the years and want to help him, then we might stand a chance. Either way though, we shouldn't fight unless absolutely necessary." Riley said. "Plus they may even screw with us even more and send Van out to fight us instead..." he said grimmacing at the thought.

"I fancy surviving myself." Mala joked after what Val said before listening to Riley's input. "Yes, I'd like to avoid that at all costs. If we can't get to their sense of mercy, we can also use any greed or powerlust to turn them against Atius. If all the boring scriptures I've had to read mean anything, the gods are extremely fickle - changing their mind and heart at whim."

"If Van has to fight us, I can simply trap him." Alek crystallized his arm again. "Hold him until we can free him. Now I'm going to go speak with some people... I'll tell you how it goes." He went into his room and sat on his bed, reaching out telepathically to the witches, and also the vampire goddess.

In the mean time, Riley went over to give his sister a comforting hug. "I'm sorry they can't give you two a moment's rest, but we'll get him back, don't worry."

Mala hugged Riley back and smiled faintly. "We will get him back. Also, we will get our moment of peace. That moment's just....not today."

Some time later, Riley turned to Angel and Val. "Any idea if Alek's had any luck yet?"

"These things take time," Val said. "Just give him a little bit. Our goddess is always very talkative."
"...and then he actually bowed to me," the vampire goddess was saying. "I mean, really. Like, halfway to the floor bowed. It was crazy! Oh, and that reminds me of the time I visited the witch colony with your mother, and we snuck into Hekate's temple and totally did it all over the place..." Please kill me now, Alek thought, not wanting to hear any more tales of debauchery with his parents.

Riley sighed, wanting to get the rescue mission underway and reunite the couple as quickly as possible. He didn't like seeing his sister so sad like this.

Angel hugged Mala and Riley both. "If you want, I can find you both flowers that are happy-making."
Eventually, Alek simply interrupted his goddess. "What's your opinion of Van?"
The goddess paused, mildly offended for a moment, then shrugged. "He's all right. As a woman who goes through more mood swings in a minute than a god does in a century, I firmly believe that woman... Mala, was it? Yes, Mala has kicked him to the good side. Shame. I was all for reinstating his powers, but Atius insisted on demoting him. I don't think Atius has gotten laid in millenia. Too bad he's not a sexual creature; they can't survive without sex. If he was, we'd be rid of him, and good riddance." She scowled. "If we're going to fight him, I get dibs on tearing out his throat." She paused and smiled warmly. "Which reminds me, I want to meet that lovely girl, Mala." She became fully corporeal and put an arm around Alek's shoulders.

"I dunno, artificial or not, I'm not sure we should be feeling happy and cheerful right now. Thanks for the offer though." Riley said returning Angel's hug before giving her a kiss on the cheek.

Alek led the goddess to the room where the others were congregated, and said, "Hey, this is the vampire goddess, Alana." The goddess curtsied. Her form was about ten years old, with long, dark hair and eyes that glowed black. "She talks too much. Alana, meet Mala." He pointed at Mala, and the goddess bowed politely in front of her.
"I'm sorry for what happened with Van," Alana said. "I promise I'll assist in any way possible. I'll force Hekate to help, too. We like each other, even if we are constantly desecrating each other's temples."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Mala said with a soft smile, having remained awfully quiet up until this point. At most, she'd reply to Angel or Riley with a faint nod or the shaking of her head. But it only seemed right to her that she make a good impression on the one who would help them, so she wouldn't let herself remain so silent any longer. "Thank you for your assistance. I greatly appreciate it.

A tall woman with blonde hair appeared, her blue eyes glancing around the room. They were odd; the middle was dark, but it faded toward the pupil and outwards. It was, of course, Hekate, the witch goddess. "Hello, Alana," she said warmly. "Hello, Mala. Moonchildren." She inclined her head to Alek, Val, and Angel. "I, personally, don't like Van all that much, but what happened to him was... well, harsh." She smiled fondly at the vampire goddess. "I will assist in whatever way is necessary."
((I really should make some profiles for the two goddesses, but I'm lazy.))
