razz I AM GOING TO OVER WORK MYSELF. Because I will have a job. *SCARED* razz
Applied at General Dollar and the Best Western Hotel.... ora pplied within there. And I have a half a dozen other places I have to fill out the forms for.
I'm really rooting for General dollar though, because it's close and I like the place. The best Western is like a 1/4 a mile closer, and that's dishwashing/serving.
Otherwise there's cashier, bagger, crew... y'know. razz I know I'm going to have trouble because I haven't worked in so long, but geeze, you'd think someone would give me a chance. D:
I dressed up nice in my pants and shoes from yesterday, and my grandma got me this cute cheap blouse and black short sleeved jacket. xP Customers in the General Dollar actually thought I worked there. Plus I have really no obligations (Besides you guys. <3) So I'll end up working nights/weekends. (The GD job was nights/weekends) Yep. Kinda reminds me of my mom when she worked at Burger King for so long and stuff.
I hope this to only be a summer job though, because I'm going to look up a college tomorrow and hope to be enrolled in the fall.
Screw debts. xD I'll make it up... a few years from now. xD

That reminds me that I need to feel out more applications since BJ's totally blew me off... pun intended, but they never called back after my interview. ninja
So I got a few hotels to apply to and I'm going to try a Gamestop. If that doesn't work I'm gunna try the Pharmacies, since we have them on every corner around here... and last is the bookstores, but they are like 30 minute drive-away. I just need to get cracking before all the other summer students snag the good jobs...
And yeah... I always get nervous at jobs/interviews. When I went in for my interview at BJ's I already had a bad feeling... the people there were just like, something wasn't nice about them, you know? Like I was there on time but the manager was with another person so I had to stand around for 10 minutes. Then we had to take a ridiculous questionnaire, and the lady gave me a spanish version "on accident". And it was like 100 questions and half of it was math! Like how much math does it take to pres buttons on a cash register? And the other half seemed like... waaay too personal questions. I dunno, gave me an icky feeling...
What I did today? Play Magic! We're keeping tournaments going all summer, different kinds every week. I placed second today and won some packs, it was really fun and cool. Plus I traded for some cards I needed... but I still need four of this one card, and they're going for 20$ a piece. Card games are crazy.

I have too many DVD's... gonna attempt to bring them down so only the two dvd stands are filled.... dunno if I can get rid of 50 movies though.. xD There's already a bunch in a box from before..
So cleaning today? Getting the stuff I'm selling out of the livingroom. Gonna bring the plants in from outside and find a space for them... bleh. Oh, and gonna take everything out of my room, re-pack it, and bring it back in. XD

Holy s**t! I almost kept a deadly plant in the house! My mom's 'Big Sister' from ages and ages ago sent an Oleander plant, and I thought it looked cool so I was going to keep that one... until I learned it can cause death and kidney failure in cats. D: And it's poisonous all around.
So I took that sucker back outside... Dunno what I'm going to do with it though? Keep it outside and sell it at the garage sale, I guess. XD
The hanging plants aren't doing too well. the super petunia is looking droopy and sad, so I put it on a hook outside and watered it. I brought a cool.... Dracaena plant in the house. It's another tall tree-ish one, and has a cool basket. I can keep those alive easily. xD I feel sort of bad for the other plant sin the house though... But I'll try.
Some of these plants here are over 20 years old... so.... and holy crap my cat n** plant is huge! The leaves are like, almost palm sized! And I have to trim my snapdragon plant too... *Goes to do that*
I put mom's mother's day plant in a hanging thing outside, used a ribbon to tie it up so it can hang, and yeah. razz
EDIT: IT seems the dracaena is somewhat poisonous to cats as well, but only causes upset stomach and not anything really bad, and It seems you can have both cats and the plant in the house. smile So I'll just make sure they don't eat it and it should be alright.
The oleander would NOT have been okay though. Oh my god, that stuff is really, really bad. The dracaena was from my mom's old highschool friends, plus I like the tree-plants anyways. xP
I've mostly got jewish vines, some other vine, a rubber tree plant, ... some other vine-y plant.. an african violet which flourishes happily despite the fact that they never seem to... some cactuses. razz and this purple/brown/red/green thing.... yeah... :3
EDIT: And why the hell does it seem like the more s**t I take OUT of the house, the messier and more s**t is IN the house? WTF? xD The livingroom is sort of cleaned, so is the kitchen, but the diningroom/computer area is strewn with crap, and I need to go do my room now... geeze.... D: Gonna just bag up the laundry and toss it down the stairs, try to get to it today.
D: I still don't want to go down in the basement though. I'll never live in a place with basement laundry again, if I can help it.
Also: *SNEEZESNEEZESNEEZE*
That's what I'm doing today. xD I am allergic to the smell of old, musty dusty boxes. XD

Sweet! So I just found out that the unemployment check my mom got was hers last week, even though it was sent out last thursday... or it was hers before she died. So what I should do is put it in the bank with the rest of her money, and then I just have to hope no bills company or something wants to suck the money out of there (I'm not sure if gas/cable/electric/phone can do that... but I really hope they'll just leave me alone and erase the bills mom owed..... there were a lot though. D: Especially lately but that's because she went down from $2000 a month to like, $800...)
so that's about $650 in mom's bank account then, and I have like... $750 in the one I opened yesterday, and I think I kept $200 on hand?
That'll probably mostly be sucked away setting up deposits for the gas, electric, and internet..... but I've been advised to keep my mom's phone for a month or two and keep paying the bill...... I think it's about $80 and I got a reminder today.. it's cheaper right now I think to keep paying it then to disconnect, get my own plan, and pay a deposit/connection fee...
I'll have to see about that though, the person who advised me on that is coming over later to get a plant and stuff, so hopefully she'll give me a few minutes of her time. xP
D: Any bills advice or anything guys? XD I have no clue what I'm doing...
EDIT: I also have the BEST PICKLES EVER. They're slightly sweet, but have onions and garlic cloves and some other herbs in the jar with the brine, and they're a pale colour and sososogood. *Noms on one* It's like pickle candy. biggrin

holy s**t I love pickles.
Anyways, the only actual job I have ever had WAS Deli. Just Deli. And it's really lame, because a lot of places won't hire you unless you have three job references... and it's like "Hello, how am I ever supposed to get three if everywhere wants three and I only have one?!!"
Job hunting is way harder than it should be. ;_; And I wanna work at Gamestop the most buuut... that stalker kid works there! Who stalked me from the internets, and was like, "Are you Johnny777 on the internet, I totally saw your picture..." And I was like..... O_O;;;
I have way too many DVD's too. I keep them in a huge CD binder now though, and but all the cases in a box in the attic so it doesnt take up any room now.
And yeah, White Oleander, really poisonous. You can kill a human with it easily, too, if you just mix some in with their milk. :3 *whistles*

Unless your state has abnormal laws (and some do!) the bills won’t know where to draw the money from or have the right to unless your mother had them set to auto-collect each month (meaning on a certain date the money is automatically deducted and transferred to the company’s account) or they hire a bill collector (and even then most states have laws against seizing funds from a bank account; instead, they usually set up a system to deduct money directly from paychecks, and in this case that’s not an option.)
And, generally, it’s much cheaper at first to keep up with current bills rather than cancel them and sat them up in your own name - especially since you probably have next to nothing on your credit, so deposits are going to be a nightmare.
My mother says you might want to consult a lawyer (there are plenty of “free over-the-phone consultation” numbers in the average phone book) in regards to accessing your mother’s bank account if it didn’t have your name on it. (Though lawyers are scary, so it might be best to phone the bank.) Legally you should have the right to withdraw it for paying bills because she shared a residence with you and was the primary caregiver.
Also, while I am on the subject: do you have the title and any related documents for your mother’s car? Make certain you find them and have them in a safe place. When the tags run out, you will have to register it in your own name, and will need the title/registration papers and her death certificate in order to prove it is now in your ownership.

I think my mom did have some auto-withdraw things for some bills...... maybe just um... well not gas.... maybe electric? Or she used to but doesn't now, because with all the bills I found, that $220 in there would have been gone... (Unless there had been more in there, and the bills already took it)
The cable has a bill collector letter, yeah. D: ...... gas has about $300 on it still, but it's in the landlord's name so he gets the bill. D: The problem with that is he didn't give it to us all winter, so it was $800 when we did, and they wanted the money RIGHT AWAY. But I got one of those... um... well he has to sign the slip and take it to the bank to get the rent money for next month, because I want a record. And I want a damned key so I can lock the house when I'm out. :/
there's a lot of bills, so all things considered it might drain all the money I have, but it might be cheaper to switch just like.. the electricity and gas. Cable I'm cancelling, I've gone 2 years without tv before, I don't care, so that's a whole lot of money switched out...
I'm just worried that I continue paying it for a month or two, then call them, and they say I have to pay her overdue bills because I was paying things....
3nodding I have the title for her car and stuff too, yeah. I made sure to get that right away.

So yeah, I think I have enough money to make deposits on electric and gas..... I haven't seen a water bill though so maybe it's just utilities and that's included with the electric? Er... I dunno. XD I have a whole pile of papers I've gone through, and I've got the important stuff in a box.
I already went to the bank regarding the account as well. I had to get this paper regarding her estate stamped by the bank (She had no estate, besides the bit of money in the bank) ... and then I had to get it certified at the post office and send it off to Health and Family services. I get some card thing and once ten days pass, if no place has claimed the money, then I can have it.
xP I dunno if I should just hold onto the unemployment check then and not deposit it, so taht way if they do raid the $200 out of there, I'll still have that $400....
Tags won't run out on the car until next year, thankfully.

XD Yeah, I've been talking to myself a lot today, while taking breaks from cleaning. So far I've gotten rid of one big box full of stuff from my room...

So I was going to apply for food stamps and assistance with utilities/health care, but then I saw that the card they said I would get for food stamps had been in my mom's wallet, and then I remember she gave me this form like two weeks ago that I could fill out and like... get girly PAPS tests with...
So... if my mom had a food stamps card that was valid before..... er...
XD I dunno if I can use it or have to return it or ... or what... plus I need to look up waht the utilities are before I can continue, and I don't know if it will effect me because I was included on her forms (I have them in front of me) ...... so maybe it's a change of income I need to do instead? Because she filled it out for both of us. XD But I don't know her password/username... or if I could do that or no.. I think I could just report the change/loss of income, and then I am free to use the card. But I'll call tomorrow at a reasonable time. D:
Geeze. razz Ick.
I need cat food tomorrow, that's all I know. D: And I still need to do laundry..................... x_x

Holy ******** christ! Just got an ambulance bill of like, $1200! Don't know if I have to pay that. Cellphone is probably going to be gone tomorrow. Apparently we have a home phone and answering machine, but I have to keep off the internet to use it..... (Mom just had her cell phone for a while)
I've called a collection agency for the TV, they said they won't actively persue anything, so that's taken care of. Called the electric, gave them info, have to wait for them to call back. x_x
I do not know what I am doing! x_X I think my uncle isn't going to be here until NEXT friday, fat lot of good that does, but maybe Liz can help... argh..
Or I'll just have to have the ex-not-boyfriend help.... *Flail*

So I might be gone for a month/few months, because I think I'll be living on the minimum of Electricity, gas, basic phone, rent, and trash.
I just hate everything so much. gonk All of this stuff. It just all blows!

You won't have to pay it, Cassy, relax; I highly doubt that bill will be shifted to you, and even if it does - my mother still has hospital bills for me from over a decade ago: the most she gets is the occasional letter in the mail (they won’t send a bill collector on you until you come into some serious cash.) Was the letter aimed directly at you, or did it have your mother’s name?
You just need to chill, girl. You’re not certain if you have to turn everything off and live as a hermit yet - if you acquire a decent job, it’s better to wait it out 30 days and if you’re not capable of juggling the Internet with everything else, then get it turned off. If you cancel it, you might regret it later, because deposits tend to be a huge chunk - that’s why we couldn’t have it until my mother moved in, because the instillation bills and deposits for cable/Internet tallied to $400.
What kind of phone service is it? Does it go to answering machine if you are online when someone calls?
As long as you keep pushing for aid with food stamps, etc, you should get results. DO NOT GIVE UP. Keep calling, keep harassing, or they’ll try to sweep you under the carpet. (Don't take their "there is a waiting period, be patient" bullshit. The only "waiting period" is waiting for them to process your case, which they won't bother without getting kicked in the a**.)

crying I know, but it's all so hard and confusing! I Just want to find some rich 90 year old guy in Texas and wash him naked with orange jello on egyptian cotton sheets every night, if he'd just take care of s**t! XD
I applied for FAFSA as well... which is federal aid for college. But I have special circumstances because I have no parent that would be able to pay part of anything. D: So I have to call the financial aid office for the school I want to go to (UW Oshkosh) tomorrow, and talk to them. Iiiick....
The school year starts July 1, 2009... summer classes anyways. I dunno if I'd have to be enrolled by then, but I think if desperate I can find a place to live, move, and do everything in a month.
Um.... I'm really just thinking of taking out a loan. If I can not worry about like rent/bills or something, that'd be great. XD If not I'll just get a job here in town and.. I dunno. Work. Forever. razz
Naw, the ambulance bill had my mom's name on it... so I don't think that'll be on me... it was the neighbor who actually called 911 too, so conveniently I was just a bystander....
And no, no, I didn't want to cancel- well I want to cancel the TV. But I told the electric company I just wanted to switch things into my own name. I think that can be done.
Baaaaaah..... I should have just waited a bit but I panicked. D: I don't need cell phone if I've got a home phone- there's an answering machine too, but I dunno where to plug it in! x_x
Internet is only like... $10 or $20 dollars a month......
and I think I'm going to have to give up mom's cat to the shelter as well. D: I don't know. I can't give him the attention he needs (He's very needy) and it'd save money in food and litter, and take some pressure off... plus it's a no-kill shelter here...
I go through a $6 bag of cat food every week with three..... and probably .... $15 of litter? That's only $40 a month. :/ But it's the thing if I'm able to give him the attention he needs, because I never bothered with him before since he was hers...
xP It's just so much stuff...... it's really overwhelming........
XD One of my mom's friends sent this book though, called 'The complete idiot's guide to the perfect resume' and she'd bookmarked 'gaps in employment'
So I'm going to be sneaky now and put the five year gap of not having a job *EEK* as- Exploring my options and figuring out who I was through self-education. xD
And I have NO CLUE What kind of phone service it is! gonk See, we haven't had a regular phone for a while, since I never used it, and it was cheaper all around for mom just to have her cell phone... I hooked the phone up now, and it needs to charge, and I'll try calling my grandma to make sure it works.....
I know the phone number for it though, I hope.
And again- I can't really be stamped with fraud or something if I've messed up a form, since I really have no idea about any money things or whatever. XD So if I've messed up the food stamps application or something... yeah.
xD It's basically a thing of- Hey! I have about $900 to my name! Halp!!!!!! Halp with food! Halp with rent! Halp with bills! Halp with college! Haaaalpp!!!!!!!!
My god though, I would pay off debts until I was 80 if I could just figure out somethign to do now...
It's made me realize though that education on this sort of thing is VERY, VERY severely lacking in schools.

I have to go to church tonight too, for.. a service for my mom or something? Her church... they're having a collection on Sunday, and I'm going there too..
I don't hold much with churches, but they're nice and this is a way of extending courtesy. xP
