I had always wished I leveled some craft, but I don't think I had single one above 20. Pathetic given my time on the game. x_x
Although, I leveled a *ton* of a jobs. Next highest was RNG 50-something, and then SCH 40-something on another character. And lots more in between. I spent most of my time leveling; I actually enjoyed it for some odd reason.
I actually don't think I had a single craft (fishing is not a craft >_<) under 20. I had Smithing at 72, Goldsmithing at 48 or so, Leathercraft I left at 60, and most of the others were 20-30.
And yes, leveling
was fun because it's like doing a series of bossfights. You're not killing a thousand of something to get a level, felling them with a few seconds of effort while soloing a group of three at a time. No, it's six of you vs one of them, and you'll be taking swings at the thing for a good 2 minutes. In WoW the end boss of a dungeon doesn't take 2 minutes to kill unless it's an actual raid dungeon where you have 20-40 people.
Plus, party mechanics. They work. You have jobs to do, and since the equipment you get has, at best, a marginal increase to your overall effectiveness attached to it the difference between a good player and a poor player was so much more significant than the value of your gear.
Linkshells though... never really got into them, which was probably why I didn't level that high. I'm not the kind of person that likes to join a group full if high level players as a low level player and just leech off of their generosity for a year until I'm capable of contributing. It doesn't sit well with me.
