Lol.
I remember how I found Metal Gear for the PS1. Through those in the mail demo disks with like ten demos on them. It was just a video.
I went out and bought it as soon as it came out.
ZOE: Yeah, 2 was bad a**. Dingo was an epic character name.
Dingo vs Anubis? Just pure awesome.

themightyjello Oh man, someone other than me showed XI some love in the poll. I'm... ... ... quite honestly shocked by this. HOW? Because I wasted 6 years playing XI. But hey, at least I got to cash in on the relic and other s**t I had.

I can't remember which Metal Gear game it was... If it even was a Metal Gear game... But the final boss was such a pain in the a**. It would randomly switch what controller you used, and one completely shut off the one you were currently using. Making you switch between each port, until you eventually killed him.
That was a bunch of horse s**t.

Cael 0x Plus, MGS2 was easily the worst of the bunch... *shudders* They didn't know that at the time. Also, ZoE was a great game but way too short. I beat it in like 5 hours on a rental and was... I dunno, just disappointed. With all the areas and item grinding and things like that you did to take up space and time I was surprised that it just ended like that so quickly... on an unkillable boss no less. Tybalt Steele themightyjello My first RPG... huh. Well, not counting tabletop boardgames with stat sheets Well if you want to be that way, my first RPG was... Still Shining Force, oddly enough. My second was GURPS, though.

The first MGS.
For the NES.
Which is like top-down Contra without the KONAMI CODE.

Actually, KB.
That was just called Metal Gear.
The first game in the Solid series was for the PS1.
And the best of the bunch, by far.

Oh, phew. *exasperated sigh*
The first Metal Gear. Yeah, sure, I agree.
Now, Metal Gear Solid, that's a different story. That game is greatness, and it is my personal prophet Muhammad. I was about to jihad.

Metal Gear Solid 3 seemed to me to have a lot more to it.
You didn't have a whole lot of really fancy toys and radar and laser sights helping you out.

That's the first Metal Gear, not the first Metal Gear Solid.
@ XI: Well, I figured it was someone who wasted years of their life on the game... like me! I never got high level though, spent too much time waiting for the few people I played with to get interested enough in the game to go gain levels. Instead I ended with a level 40 character and level 80 crafting.
Also, Breath of Fire series. Can't believe I forgot to mention that. All good games (or at least the ones I played, I kinda stopped at 3) with good fantasy elements all over the place.
I'd say the same thing about the Phantasy Star series but the first few were just... I couldn't get anywhere in them except for IV, which was one of the (playably) best RPGs I've ever had the joy of experiencing.
