and it would really help to know the composition of your army. Saying what doctines you want is all well and fine. But the build of your army may or may not call for a doctrine that you hadent previously thought of.

Shinobi_8745 xXAkitoAndYurekaXx so do imperial guards need to work together like eldar What do you mean with work together? I think he means that the Eldar are weak on their own and need to format their specialist units into intricate strategies in order to succeed. And he asks if the Imperial Guard has to do the same. Yes, the Imperial Guard are weak and fragile on their own, not as weak as Eldar, who make up for it with fancy units and expensive wargear. The Imperial Guard has strength in large numbers, weight of massed firepower over ANY army out there and some of the best tanks in the game. A single Guardsman squad can't do much, but when you array a platoon against a target nothing will remain. [/Imperial Guard poster child]

This is only your main army? What others do you have?
Also, they seem like they're organized into squads, but I notice that what appears to be the Platoon command squads on the right only have three men each. Are you missing some men? I also notice that you have some of the ol' Second Edition stormtroopers. Nice. cool
And do you mean the Mil Mi-24 Hind? The most beastly of all gunships? Well, I guess it's technically a transport...

Actually the Hind is a gunship with transport capabilities. And it is the fastest gunship in the world at that (208 mph!) and was the fastest helicopter until Westland nabbed it from them with a souped up Lynx.

Well, I guess it's technically a transport... Well a large group of my sisters werent brought with me. As well as a combat patrol sized force of valhallans. Though I did bring their Basalisk and their T-72 Leman Russ. Count the heavy weapons teams. Each squad gets one leaving me some support squads as well. The one on the left one has 3 men as well the Comissar is standing behind the group showing that it is outside the nomral command structure. And Yes the MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunship. It has transport capacity for 8 fully equiped Spetnaz Commandos, or im my case 2E stormtroopers. I just wanted to keep the squads more even for the photo.

Hey guys. Iv started doing ore work on my guard army. for my heavy support i have 2 leman russ battle tanks and a leman russ demolisher. i have one battle tank and one demolisher bought so far. should i continue as planned or could the 163 pts (includes weapons) be better spent? when its complete the army will be about 1500 pts. I'm not sure if i have to many points spend on armour. i have an armoured fist squad planned also.
what do you IG experts think?

Tanks are always good, and the Leman Russ/Demo are very versatile vehicles. Most people will say that you can never have too many tanks.

Yeah, I don't care what it's classified as, I just call it sexy. cool ninja @eric the ghost- It's all about how you play your army. I have a Vanquisher which is 200+ points, but it's worth it to me. Every game it takes things out left and right. The idea is though that you need to specialize it either for anti-infantry or anti-tank. That'll be the best use of the points you have.

Hey Mat, what color is that blue and how did you paint your guardsmen. They look really nice and I have been messing with a winter scheme for a while now.
Now Eric the Ghost, I personally love tanks for my Imperial Guard Army. What I will do is get some tanks, several Imperial Guardsmen squads, and a Grey Knight Hero. I get the carapace doctrine, the close order drill one, the drop troops one, and whatever else I might need. Now what I do is I put all of my infantry squads and Grey Knight in Deep Strike Reserves for the first 2 turns or so. So while my infantry is waiting to be deployed, my enemy has to fight just two tanks for a while. Then I Deep Strike everybody right behind my enemy, usually nailing them with loads of lasbolts. Thats how I work my army with tanks.
