I think it was 5. 6 if you count Ryo. I'm sure that Pheaura's mother(forgot name) was the only one who deserved to die because she was sacrificing things for the "greater good"

Almost all of them seemed detached and only one deserved to die. But one deserving can make a paranoid mind wary of the others.

That is if Ryo is an angel. It all depends on your veiw of an angel. If your going by having wings, than Vik is an angel too. He's got two wings on the left side of his body, he just doesn't know about them.
