All comes down to what your preferences are as far as the look of your army. If you're making an army to look like its rolling hard and heavy, then yes, use some converted tanks.

Plus you choose FIVE doctrines.
Close order is a good one if you have doctrine points to waste.

So first stop, read the codex through once thoroughly. If lacking one, shame on you and buy one!

Well lets see, you want to get doctrines and your army is Cadian. I would recommend that you stick to the Cadian doctrines as they are fully Cadian. However, if you want to customize your own, I would recommend the following to follow the Cadian Details:
Iron Dicipline Sharpshooters Grenadiers sanctioned psykers conscript platoons That should get alot out of your regular infantry in terms of shots, makes them run less and fight more with Iron Dicipline, Psykers to deal with some of those pain in a** enemy models with powers, grenadiers to show the elite kasrkin troopers in the core, and the conscripts as the youth armies, cadets etc. That should detail much of the important aspects of the Cadian army.
Good luck and have fun! smile

Or you could just use the standard Cadian doctrine set found in the codex and get Special Weapon squads on top of those five, seeing as storm troopers and Grenadiers are now folded into the same doctrine set.

As has been said once, why not just use the cadian doctrine set? Unless by cadian theme you meant "like the cadians" rather than being cadians.
