Meh, lucky Emi! My last birthday was spent moving, and when I reminded my mom that it was my birthday, she got mad at me and said there were more important things than me turning 16 to deal with.

Though..it doesn't have the meaning of WHY it was a Sweet 16, but it's still special...and Sweet 18 and Sweet 21 sound dumb

I also got dumped that day too. My birthday SUCKED. Then again, they always do, as I'm not allowed to have birthday parties.
But yeah, enough of my self-pity. My birthday is May 30th...an all-around good day!
Hee, I still do the countdown once May starts. I'm sorry, but my birthday is special to ME at least!

And I think the thought behind "Sweet" 16 was that at 16, a young girl was turning into a woman and was at the "sweet beginnings of womanhood", or something lame like that.

Actually, it was the age when you were: 1. Considered an adult 2. Could drink 3. Could drive 4. Could vote 5. Could get married It was pretty much the "I can do everything" age sweatdrop
