Think about...how you want your character to be different then, what do you want them to be exceedingly bad at? Then make them really good at doing one thing say for instance....cloth making?

Look I just don't want basicly the whole village to be Hoshigaki but I have cooked up a plan. I'll allow you to create a Hoshigaki but you're going to be the last one, unless Sage or Qyp going inactive.

Is it me, or does it seem like Rasengan is becoming more and more like the Kamehameha wave. (Or is it really really odd that the Kamehameha word is in the spell dictionary for opera).

I think it's really really odd that Kamehameha is in the Opera dictionary.
Rasengan or Kamehameha. Apart being fundamentally different, I guess they are both blue and round and both destroy things. Thing is, I don't see Naruto being able to control where his Rasengan heads off to, if he gets a homing ability then I'm willing to say: Idea thieved. Until then, I think they're different enough that one cannot really be the other.
I'm quite honestly surprised that they made the claim that someone made the moon to be honest. Not usually a move made even in most out of the world anime.

Masashi Kishimoto had inspiration from Akira Toriyama, the Dragonball creator, to make Naruto.
I find Minato and Naruto is an ode to the Saiyans... or more specifically, Goku. Heck, the Uzumaki clan as well...
Body Flicker/Flying Thunder God = Instant Transmission. (Though, that would be odd, because Draganball Z's Trunks Saga isn't THAT old...)
Rasengan/Sage Mode = Kamehameha Wave/Spirit Bomb.
Hiruzen Sarutobi is an ode to many sources... Sasuke Sarutobi was a real person, and very famous... and then Journey to the West and the Monkey King (Emna) and then their is the Saiyan's transformation.
