jason stoped crying when his stomic started to rumble 'im hungry but were can i get something to eat its not like i brought any money.' he began to worry about this being a bad idea mabye he should have just stayed home and waited for the people to come get him 'mabye i dont have to pay for the food its not like anyone would notice it and mabye if i do get caught they would let me go if only i could be so lucky.' he decided he should go into the city and find something to eat before he died of starvation he thought he only have 10 minutes before that happend. he ran as fast as he could to the city falling on his face a few times but that was just the clutz in him. The cold grass brushed against Kalan's cheek as her head slipped to the side. The ground, firm against her back, rumbled softly as she heard the cars far off on the road. She was deep within Central Park. Wind rustled the tree tops and brushed a few strands of her pale hair away from her face. The night was cool and dark. The air about her seemed strangely, sharply, clear, and it put all life in the park on edge.
Kalan felt the veil of energy covering her, like a shield against the terrible awareness she had been born with. It ebbed and flowed at her will giving her glimpses of reality as she hid herself, muffling her senses. Spreading her arms out Kalan let her long coat fall across the grass and felt the earth under the back her arms. Her crystal eyes slowly fell to her left hand as ahe lolled off into a light sleep.
In her memory she could hear the faint ringing of eerie wind chimes, and the brushing breeze scented by salt flowed over her. It was dark, but Kalan could feel the warm sun on her skin, and knew she would see the clear skies of her island home if she could only open her eyes. Sea gulls called and the distant crashing of waves on the cliff side echoed around her. The girl of 19 smiled, as she laid there basking in the glow of home. It was soft, the feel around the family mansion. But it had long been tainted by dread and uneasiness. The stains of the past blotted Kalan's memory and she felt a heavy weight fall over her, crushing her lungs and stinging the back of her neck. The overwhelming sensation was all-to familiar. It was the feeling of being watched, by something much stronger than one's self. The feeling of being pulled deeper into darkness.
Her eyes snapped open and in total darkness Kalan saw a large pair of glowing amber gold eyes. They darkened and a low rumble set in as if it were right on top of her. She bolted upright gasping for air as she awoke from her nightmare. Sweat dripped down the side of the girl's face and she looked about herself quickly, noting the park. "It was only a dream.. Calm down Kaye. It was just a dream." She told herself in the night. Kalan let out a sigh as relief flooded her being.
The sound of rushing wind caught her attention again. "Asher.. You're back already?" She said as a lithe figure lept from a tree to land neatly near her. The boy stood at about 6'1" with a toned body and dusty white hair. His pale colored eyes tinted silver by the moonlight, flitted around the small clearing searching for any threats. Patches of moon beams danced across the grass calling back memories of a darker night, long ago. He knelt by her side on one knee to speak. "You were right. As I viewed the security films from the airport I saw your brother go into a restroom as Tavar stood guard. When he returned he had dyed his hair a different color. We are looking for a red-head now."
The girl hugged her knees and looked back up to the sky. "Alright. Thank you Asher."
Watching her carefully the boy raised one eyebrow. "How did you know he would change his appearance?" He asked noticing her shortage of breath.
Kalan let out a small laugh, and a sweet smile graced her soft face. "Simple. It's what I would do. Remember?" She grinned, her face revealing only a hint of the worry she truly felt.
A gentle touch brought her back from her mind as Asher felt her cheek. "Miss Kalan. You have a fever again. And you look pale. I should find you a place to sleep." He stood letting out a grunt of annoyance. "You should take better care of yourself. That weak immune system is going to kill you one day."
The girl giggled a bit. "I wish! More than likely it will be you though!" She said as the boy rolled his eyes and slid off into the night. She could feel his presence getting farther and farther away. "At that speed.. he must be running in shadow." She contemplated how fast he could travel as she pulled her coat tighter around her shoulders. It was getting colder, and she did have a fever. But it would pass. It always did. Suddenly Kaye felt the faint tugging of a warning in the back of her mind. A small weight clouded her focus, the weight of eyes trained on her. Kalan shivered looking about herself. She tried to ignore it. This was after all the city that never slept. And she didn't want to remove the force blocking her senses just yet. She would just have to suffer with the tingling at the back of her neck. Her crystal blue eyes rose to the sky once more. Light pollution from the city covered the beautiful stars, and long thin clouds blocked out the half moon every now and then. "It's so dark here.. Why would anyone want this life?" She mused tilting her head to one side.

he ran for half an hour or so, changing forms always gave him a rush. but eventually he decided to change back just in case somebody else would come along and spot him, that could mean trouble for him if it was a mortal. he sighed and thought about coming back to the park later on and continued his walk through the park and the moon lighted the way

Kalan sat watching the hazy moon for about twenty minutes before a chill wind started to set in. She paced gradually, the grass under her boots matting closer to the earth and clinging to the soles of the shoes. It was past midnight, and though Kaye loved the night, she didn't love the dark. Tall trees loomed over her like a cage, keeping her from the openness of the sky. She was nervous, and the stinging at her neck didn't help. "Come on Asher.. I don't like being alone.." She mumbled to no one.
The sound of a snapping branch off to her left pulled back into mind her duties. She was a hunter. And a good one at that. But with her muffled senses she could barely detect an approaching enemy. She hardly liked the idea, but the best visible course of action she saw was to head for the monster infested city. The slight fever would only get worse if she spent the night in the Park, and Asher might take forever to find the place her mother had arranged for. He wasn't used to big cities.
Kalan ran her right hand over the bushes, contemplating what to do. Her wild trains of thought crashing together as she patched up a plan. Random strings of pictures and emotions lead her thought process instead of rational ones, making her mind impossible to read at any given time. She let her mind drift over possible circumstances and obstacles. "Ouch!" She yelped. Her hand had slipped over a holly branch, and had cut her finger. The paper thin red line formed as she watched. She hadn't cut herself in awhile and seeing her own blood made her want to cry. She missed her mother, who would have bandaged it for her and smiled warning to be careful.
Kalan sniffed as the breeze blew gently past her. She had to find Aiden and return home. The city was doomed anyway. And the leaders of the European society had all but abandoned it. Kalan had only to find her separated family and then all would be right again. She slipped her hand into her pocket and left to find Asher in the labyrinth of buildings.

She was in an oddly irritable mood causing to her practically inhale a little less than a pack of cigarettes on her walk through the park. A rough sigh escaped her slightly parted lips as she dropped down into a park bench.
"Chill out, at this rate you're bound to flip out on the first person who looks at you the wrong way, for God's sake." Alexz told herself, failing to ease her irritation.
She became aware of an incessant whirring of what she deduced to be the lamppost which stood directly across from her. A brief glance at the light and it shattered, scattering bits of glass at her feet and leaving her in darkness. At least in the darkness, she didn't have to worry about veiling her appearance from any onlookers, this somehow managed to calm her.
Alexz slid down and rested her head on the wooden back of the bench, sighing once again as she did so. Her eyes shut lightly, not too heavily otherwise she could possibly fall asleep and put herself in great danger. Her mind drifted to simpler times, before the revelation. Her smooth face pulled into a slight frown as she mulled over the recent events which led to the exposure of her kind and the others.

Elyan stumbled through Central Park, following along the side of the road which cut through the foliage. His keen eyes kept a look out for anything odd, preferably any signs of broken or damaged glass. His eyes followed along the line of lamp post which illuminated the lone street, until they met one rather dark one. That had to be the source of the noise. As he drew closer, his mental senses fired-up, someone also sharing an acute mental awareness was nearby.
His black leather boots struck the ground as he came to a complete halt, his pale hands now hiding within the pockets of his red overcoat. Although dark, his eyes could easily see an individual resting on a park bench. She seemed familiar in some way, but physically, she didn't resemble anyone he knew. Elyan was sure she, too, would have sensed him. Even though he was just now starting to come to terms with his own abilities, he tried his hardest to place a mental barrier around himself in order to prevent her from diving into his mind. He awaited a response, if any.

Her head snapped up at the sound of approaching footsteps and in less than a second she had her handmade silver handgun aimed right between his eyes. His construction of a mental barrier piqued her curiosity and she infiltrated it with ease, curious as to what he was trying to hide, which she quickly found to be nothing. Being a psychic vampire of her magnitude made the abilities of others appear to have more or less the efficacy of those of a freshly made vampire, an attitude which was a result of her great age. She vaguely remembered her struggle in developing her psionic abilities and felt slightly sympathetic as she had always found the development and control of psionic abilities to be as difficult as coping with bloodlust.
"Not wise to creep about, Elyan, I could've put a bullet between your eyes." Alexz said somewhat softly as she returned her handgun to its rightful place in her boot.
She did take the privacy of others in consideration when mind-reading and often didn't delve into all depths of their minds unless the situation called for it. In this particular moment she searched only for what she needed, his identity, which she found herself to be already familiar with. Memories of their previous encounter were easily found and upon their discovery resulted in her withdrawal from his mind.

"It's not very fair to breach into the mind of someone who has little control over their own abilities. And, if you had just asked for my name, I would have gladly offered it." He replied. Even though he had expected such a reaction from her, it always bugged him when people searched through his thoughts. What bugged him more was that he wasn't strong enough to prevent such things from happening. At least she didn't abuse her powers, like some tend to do.
Elyan moved slightly closer to the vampiress, stopping once again with a slight thud, his hair dancing in-front of his blood-red eyes. His attitude was more serious than it had been earlier.
"Something wrong?" Elyan asked with slight sarcasm in his voice. It was obvious to anyone that she resonated with a slight vibe of irritability. Anger was one of the few emotions which caused even some of the strongest psychic vampires to give off a slight aura. Blood lust, too, had the same effect. They merely dulled the mind in a way which prevented a one-hundred percent hold on one's thoughts and aura. It is probably why so many psychic vampires became so emotionless, the perfect solution to such a problem. Of course, that left them with such boring personalities, like talking to a brick wall.

"But see, if you were someone else, I wouldn't have time to do all that, especially since you could have easily been a hunter or an FBI agent." Alexz said a little bitterly, "If the situation had been reversed, I'm sure you would've tried to to the same, you're just bitter because you haven't got your powers under control, isn't that right?"
She arched and eyebrow in his direction as her fingers reached into her pocket for a cigarette which she promptly lit. Exhaling with a puff of smoke she reclined in the bench, not as much as she had before, but enough so she was comfortable.
"Ohh nothing just sunshine and happiness over here!" she said equally sarcastically, instantly regretting the words as they escaped her lips.
As she and well as the other vampire elders had learned, sunshine did not bring happiness, at least to their kind and the method in which they found a way back into the sunlight (that can be found here at the very end of the first post). This was definitely not one of her better nights.

"You may be right, I am disappointed by the fact that I have little control over my own abilities. I don't even know the depth of what I can do. I've probably only scratched the surface of what I can do." He brushed the silver strands of hair out of his smooth, flawless face with his index finger. Elyan smirked slightly at the mentioning of sunshine, how ironic for a vampire to even mention the sunlight.
Yes, the sunlight was one of the weaknesses of the vampiric race. Normally, one would burst into flames as soon as sunlight met their skin. There have been rumors of some vampires being old enough to withstand such effects, but they were thousands and thousands of years old, the ancestors of all vampires. Other rumors told of relics which, for a certain price, could offer the same effect. But, they were only rumors Elyan had heard during his travels.
"I see. You don't wish to talk of such things," Elyan said, replying to the sarcastic reply. The trees found in the park were rather beautiful, better than all of the concrete and metal found elsewhere in this city. There were a few beings found off in the distance, but they were minding their own business. Although, it wasn't wise for human to wander the streets of New York so aimlessly. Human, themselves, became predators who looked for money, sex and drugs. That doesn't even include what other creatures lurked.
"Tell me," Elyan began, "Does the name 'Elizabeth White' come to mind? I'm sure you've been in this city long enough to catch wind of certain names." He hadn't moved from his position, merely glancing over at the youthful-looking vampiress through his hair.

"It gets easier with time, practice is all you need. We all start somewhere." she said, silently recalling how in her early years, her telepathy had driven her close to insanity.
Such things had contributed to their exposure, a day in the sun condemned her to many nights in disguise as well as in hiding. Whenever she was reminded of these events she felt a stab of pain where the diamond once resided, either a manifestation of her psychological pain or an everlasting side effect, possibly self-inflicted (without her conscious knowledge), so she would never forget. Wincing slightly, she took a long drag on her cigarette and shook her head.
"The name's not familiar." Alexz said turning her face to look at him, "This city's very large, unless she's a troublemaker, I haven't heard of her. Is she the troublemaking type?" she arched a brow.

Elyan chuckled slightly. "Her? A troublemaker?" He replied in a calm, but slightly amused tone in his voice. "I'd say she's pretty far from being a troublemaker." He wasn't going to delve too much more into Ellie or his current situation. But, aside from trying to better himself in New York, he also needed to try and obtain some leads on her whereabouts. What better place to start than one who seemed to know the place.
He returned his attention to the vampiress, before making a realization. "I apologize, but I never asked of your name. Miss...?" Elyan cursed at himself when he got too wrapped-up in his own affairs, forgetting to be courteous. These modern times must really be rubbing off on him, more than he would have liked.
