....this training lark is harder than it looks. Wish I could just leave the calculating up to a dm instead.

I heard that there were specific training methods for different things, but I didn't find anything in the Game System Forum...anyone had any experience with needing specific training?

Well I had been trying to train Chakra only to be told there was a certain way of doing it. I can't seem to find anything that says I must do a particular thing.

Yamanoue_Utemaro Well I had been trying to train Chakra only to be told there was a certain way of doing it. I can't seem to find anything that says I must do a particular thing. Quote: To Train Abilities/Stats: Minimum DC of 10 + [stat mod] Minimum of 10 successful checks Set Reward per 10 checks: +1 Ability, +15 exp If DC under 10 + [stat mod], reduced no. of exp points awarded, but no stat points awarded. +5 exp for every 1 point DC is above Minimum DC. So if you were training chakra, the DC that you would have to meet is 10+[chakra mod]. you have to roll a d20+[chakra mod] until you make 10 successful checks, then you can submit your training for grading by your kage, and you get +1 chakra, +XX amount of exp. Did that make sense? Basically, you just have to get ten 10+'s to raise a stat.

I understand that bit, but another player suggested I needed to do something specific. Although that might be just a particular rule to a village, I can't say I've ventured into other villages yet, including out of character.

Ah right.
I think it's best to not worry about now.
Just do it from now on... Especially chakra related stuff, that usually requires you to take note of how much chakra you have used up and take breaks to boost your chakra back up in between Breaks do not require rolls and have to be separate posts...
