Colonel-Commissar Gaunt Land Speeders are way too easy to down. Usually a good krak missile can take take it out in one shot. It doesn't help that immobilized counts a skimmer as destroyed. (Errr thats right, right? Immobilized speeders count as destroyed?) And Kento, what I meant by that was, that I already had marines assembled. Could I still give'em true grit? Cause that was another thing about making a new Chapter, I wanted to model/paint them according to the traits I give'em. I will soon begin ordering after I play a few test games with my brother. Of course they'll have to be small since his tyranid army only consists of a few gaunts and genestealers. I hate living out here -.- There's no one to play. Yes. And if youre worried about people saying it has to be represented, all youd have to do is maybe add a knife to a few marines' belts, or onto the ends of the bolters to be bayonets. And even then, thats an if. Grey Hunters or whatever the space wolf troops were I believe used the same bolter and arm set up as other marines, but they had true grit.

Van Evok well, but you can score only glancing hits on fast moving land speeder, this helps much ml vs rhino = 1/2 penetration, 1/4 destroyed (+1/36 destroyed from glancing) ml vs ls = 2/3 glancing, 2/9 destroyed so as you can see this ain't as bad Yeah, I've had land speeders that have soaked a lotta anti-tank firepower. And you get an assult cannon on em with the heavy bolter for only 80 points total, that a great value. For the marines, I personally don't think there's a better form of mobile firepower. Yeah, only armor 10, but just keep them moving and even the best anti-tank shot is gonna only glance it.

The thing drove my Eldar buddy nut's because it would move from one spot back to another, than back to the original, and just take pot shot's at whatever was closest. He eventualy diverted most of his force to shoot down the damn Speeder, leaving the rest of my army to approch unmolested. All because the Speeder wouldn't die from getting shot at by his Falcon.

add to that they are most mobile SM scoring unit, and you have beauty for mere 50-80 points depending on armament...

Colonel-Commissar Gaunt (Errr thats right, right? Immobilized speeders count as destroyed?) Only if they have moved more then 6". If they move less and scores immobilazation, they will not be counted as destroyed but counted as unmobile vehicle, not able to move from that spot on which they we´re shot down. 3nodding Pretty much the same idea like the Necrons Monoliths.

also note that rarely speeder is moving less than 6" , as fast movement is its best protection (glancing hits only)

Van Evok also note that rarely speeder is moving less than 6" , as fast movement is its best protection (glancing hits only) That depends on many things. Mainly if the situation needs moving more then 6" or if your getting shot by an weapon with AP value of 1. (Always Counts as Penetrating hit.)

I always forget that "ap 1" specuial rule. but which rule takes precedence over the other? the only glancing hits on a moving speeder (or a tank with that popped smoke), or a hit from an AP 1?

That, unfortunally (and unsuprisingly?), the rulebook fails to explain. xp In sense, an AP 1 weapons are designed for tank hunting and since melta weapon is a HeatRay-gun, a slight glancing would still deal alot of damage.
But that´s just mine opinion. sweatdrop
Does anyone know this subject betterly? <.< >.>

Does anyone know this subject betterly? <.< >.> This was a big problem for me as well playing eldar. Turns out its still glancing. The fast movement counts as being obscured, as if you were hull down, or using smoke bombs.
