Gwyn's legs were getting sore sitting cross legged like this for so long. She had hardly moved sense she began other to turn her head this way or that, and of course moving her hands. So carefully she picked up the book uncrossed her legs and stuck them out in front of her. The were both asleep and sent little prickles into her nervous system. Gwyn alway thought that was odd, they way limbs felt when being woken up. Like being picked by a million tiny needles, yet only getting a slight tingle as opposed to a sharp pain as you would expect. Gwyn could feel Tarou beginning to get ancy, it didn't seem like he could sit still for very long.

“Let me know if you want help. Just be careful about getting the hand seals backwards, and focus on what each finger does, because it’s pretty important.”

Perhaps that was why this task had so far been so difficult for Gwyn, everything had to be perfect for the handseal to work. Every last fiber has to be in the correct place, the right amount of focus, fingers, direction, location, everything. She was more or less on a guess and check sort of position, but what else could she do? She knew when it was right, and really thats all that mattered. So she pushed on, she wanted to prove to herself that just because it may take a while longer for her than others it was not impossible. Gwyn did not respond to Tarou, she was focused on the next seal, she could feel it creeping into her mind.

Gwyn clapped her hands together intertwining her fingers. She then extended her pinkies pressing them together. Finally she extended her thumbs, bending the left at the first knuckle and laying the right on top of it. With that complete she felt another surge of power run through her. She felt much stronger in the few moments she had been here than she had ever felt before. She knew that chakra had magnificent power, but in even such a raw untouched form? It took Gwyn's breath away. She was surprising herself, she thought this task to be impossible not only a few minutes ago, but now here she sat, 1/3 of the way through the handseals. To top it off she was pretty sure she had made a friend in Tarou.

Tarou was moving around a lot as he struggled with another push-up, he seemed hardly able to hold up his own body so it didn't surprise Gwyn when he chose to take a break, it was the sensible thing to do, and it is what she would have done under that same condition. Gwyn could feel Tarou getting frustrated with the exercise.

"I'm bored. This is tiring."

"I don't know what you want me to do. I'm stuck here doing handseals." Gwyn retorted. She couldn't leave and stopping halfway through was just not an option. "Why don't you just rest a bit, I'll try and keep you entertained through conversation," Gwyn gave a small smirk, "Or, if you would like I know I sensed other students around." There were other students around to provide entertainment if Gwyn was being to boring, and she wouldn't really blame him if he chose to do something else besides sitting there talking to a; deft, blind, uninteresting girl, stuck in a book. "I just have to get through this, after that I would be happy to spar you... Assuming the teacher doesn't have other things planned for us."

Gwyn felt confident in her ability to perform this task, there was no reason she shouldn't be able to breeze through these signs like everyone else. In fact she felt for her condition she was very ahead of where she was supposed to be, she partly had Tarou to thank for that, his support did make her feel a bit better about. But truly just having him around was nice. Even with her world still filled with the ring of silence and the crush of darkness having another human being was a welcome force. Another human she liked, bonus points, after all that was a very rare case in Gwyn's life. The young Yubie shrugged as she looked back into the book.

The pages felt almost like cloth at this point, it was amazing how soaked they had gotten just from sitting in the mist, but that was Kiri, wet, damp, cold, Kiri. Gwyn put her thumb and her index finger on either side of one of the pages and rubbed it carefully. Fibers and stand began to wear off into her hand as she slowly made a whole at the bottom of the page. Quickly the young girl stopped and flipped to a new page, the last thing she wanted was to get in unnecessary trouble for defacing a book. Starring blankly into space Gwyn felt over the page, looking for the next handseal. When her hand found the picture it stopped, almost alarming Gwyn.

She couldn't see it, not even a little bit. She was hoping that it would come to her as the Dragon had, but she was drawing a blank. Oh how much quicker this would be in a fight or flight frame. Gwyn thought uneasy about not even slightly being able to tell what it was. Normally this sort of thing just came natural to her, instinct would take over and just tell her how to form the sign. It was as if her brain was like in the mist, unable to find the rabbit. Gwyn scoured at the book bringing it closer to her face as if it would help, but nothing came to her, she was lost adrift a sea of silent blackness. How hard could it be to just form your hands together to release a bit of chakra? It was a basic task, and yet Gwyn could not for the life of her achieve it with this handseal.

Gwyn shut the book, it was doing her no good just feeling the pages. She knew that she would find it instinctively sooner or later anyways, so why waist all this energy doing nothing? If she wanted to make true progress she would have to look within herself to find it. For that was where the information would be hiding. Not in some book she couldn't read, but from within. If it had worked for three handseals prior, she was not counting the one Tarou had helped with, then why should it not work for this time now? To think otherwise would be foolish and stupid. No, Gwyn knew what she needed, she needed introverted self exploration.

Why can't I think of it? Gwyn asked herself, twiddling with her thumbs. She toyed with her fingers waiting for something to come to fruition in her mind. As she played with her fingers she began to notice how cold her hands were becoming. She wished dearly that she had gloves, but knew that even if she had them she would be unable to wear them. If they were to bulky they would get in the way and she would be unable to train in a speed fashion as she was doing. So sense nothing could be done Gwyn simply did nothing other than continue playing with her hands. She rubbed one hand over the other messaging the pads of either had with the opposite thumb. After doing this for a while Gwyn simply let her hands wonder, and do whatever they did when her mind was absent. It did not take long for her the feel the spark of release as her hands form the next seal, Rabbit.

Gwyn had not even been paying attention when it happened. Yet she knew it as if she had been studying and practicing this form for days. She memorized the feeling of the seal, consciously this time, so that she could recall it at any point needed. Her right hand seemed to almost be point to the left. The thumb was raised and the index finger was erect, yet the left hand seemed to be doing quite the opposite. The index finger was also erect but the thumb was folded in. The left hand was somewhat hidden behind the right, and the fingers of the hands seemed to lock together. Gwyn smiled happily, she was making fantastic progress. Quickly Gwyn shifted through all five of the seals she had learned feeling each ones effect on her being. Told you thats all you needed. Your body can do the work, all you need is to look within yourself.

Now was no time to start celebration however. Gwyn wasn't even halfway done yet and it had already taken her much longer than she had guessed it would have to get as far as she was. However; as much as she wanted to keep her head on the ground she couldn't help but get giddy. Here she was racing along as if this were nothing. If she was willing to put in the work and the effort she had no doubt in her mind that she could easily be top of her class. Compared to what she had the potential to be right now she was a simply speck. Gwyn nodded to herself, You will reach down and find that potential, you will prove to everybody that ever doubted you.

"I just have to get through this, after that I would be happy to spar you... Assuming the teacher doesn't have other things planned for us."

Tarou sighed. Even if he sparred with the girl, he would probably lose. Not because Gwyn was n fact a girl, but because Tarou just was no good at that kind of stuff. “You’d probably win.” He said lightly, rolling over lazily on the ground. “Technically, you can see a lot better than I can, and I’m really bad at the hand-eye coordination thing.” He added as he thrust his right hand into the air, staring at the light flooding in through the spaces between his fingers.

The truth was, Tarou almost felt faint. He knew that he was tired, but he hadn’t realized to what extent until he finally decided to just… lay there. His muscles were aching and he felt that everything was far away. Thankfully, that only lasted for a few minutes before things got better again. It was probably just the adrenaline and rolling around on the ground. He would maybe rest for the next few minutes, and then things would be back to normal, sooner or later. And well, if he fainted, he would just be getting some extra sleep. That was always convenient.

He pondered the fondness he now had for Gwyn. Although he was pretty sure that it wasn’t in any way romantic, maybe the fact that she was his first friend helped. Although they hadn’t officially stated their friendship… that probably wasn’t how friendships worked, or something. The extent of how inexperienced Tarou was with this almost saddened him. Tarou was naturally kind of touchy feely and light with everybody that he could be with. He didn’t know if this was because of his isolation from other children since birth, but he had always joked more than necessary, talked a lot, and was at the same time, brutally honest. This resulted in some kind of tension with his classmates, but he never understood why. Wasn’t honesty somehow a good trait? That was what he was told all of his life, and he only followed by those morals. However, he felt that this time, he could act normal and not be judged; tarou would do the same for Gwyn when needed. He turned his head to glance over at her, said girl working earnestly at the hand seals. Watching as she made a mistake, he refrained from doing anything, an amused smile coming to his lips. He probably looked like that when he was working on the hand seals, somewhat irritated and unhappy with the results.

No matter how much rest he was getting, he started to feel bored. He did a few quick rolls to his right, moving about two meters away. He then proceeded to roll back to his original place on the ground, not bothering to care about the leaves stuck in his hair. Heaving a sigh, he finally decided to bug Gwyn; he had been aiming to be quiet as much as possible, since he didn’t want to break her concentration.

“So…” He trailed, trying to think of something entertaining. “Oh, tell me what I look like!” He said, with a sudden burst of excitement. He sort of wanted to test Gwyn’s ability, to see how good she was. This would also determine how good she could be. It wasn’t as if Tarou underestimated her… well okay, he couldn’t help but do exactly just that. It was just something that was engraved in his head, and he knew that soon it would be forced out when she excelled in other activities. Secondly, it would be entertaining to see, how Gwyn saw him. Maybe he would be somewhat blurry to her, or maybe he would be missing somethings that he weren’t.

Gwyn hadn't noticed how long she had been sitting there in silence, here she was promising Tarou that she would be good company and keep her away from boredom and she was not likely doing quite the opposite. Although from the looks of it her lack of action was most likely what was best for him. He seemed almost at the point of disappearing in consciousness. He had talked early of the spar and how he would lose. "You don't seem to have a very high opinion of yourself, why is that?" Gwyn asked quizzically. Perhaps though it wasn't that he didn't have faith in himself, but that his body was so worn down that it seemed everything was more monumental then it was? Whatever the reason Gwyn continued on with her work.

Over and over Gwyn ran through the five signs until she felt so confident that they were perfect and she could move on. Running quickly through them she noticed something about the pattern change. The way she chained together the hand seals gave off a different power now then they had not five minutes before. So Gwyn walked through them slowly, when at last she found the culprit. The sixth seal, ox, had slipped in to her rotation without her even noticing. Gwyn studied the seal, it was... Interesting. Her fingers where entwined with her right palm horizontal and her left palm vertical. all of the fingers on the right had were straight, like a blade. While the left hand only the pinky and index finger were left standing, the others collapsing on to the top of the other hand.

Gwyn had hardly even noticed how much time had gone by before anyone had said another word. She had been so focused and dialed in on the seals the the rest of the world was just black to her. But the world as she knew it came back to her as Tarou spoke once more.

“Oh, tell me what I look like!”

"You look like nothing." Gwyn spoke plainly, running over the handseals a few more times before looking up into the sky. "Everything, looks like nothing." The young girl had many times before tried to explanation the sensation that caused her to know what she knew, but no matter how she tried everything she said sounded stupid. "Everything I hear, sounds like nothing..." Gwyn ran her hands through her wet hair, pushing it back to reveal her entire face. It was almost like a dolls face, so pale and seemingly untouched. "I just know you are there. I am here. Thats all there is to it," she stressed the know, "So, as for how you look like, I don't have the slightest idea."

"You don't seem to have a very high opinion of yourself, why is that?"

Tarou chuckled, surprised at Gwyn’s … sharpness, or something. He actually thought that it was kind of intrusive, but then again it wasn’t as if he weren’t, either. “Hmm, I wonder what it is too…” He mumbled, taking his time to come up with the answer. He already had the idea in his head, but he had a hard time gathering it together so he could explain it in a way that made sense.

“Well, since I’ve never sparred before, I can’t really say I’d win.” He tried, going slow so that he could add things without the statement sounding messy. “I’m not even sure if I have a chance. So why bother to pretend that I’m confident?” He chuckled, fiddling with a strand of hair. “I guess I’m not a very ambitious person.” He commented half-heartedly, not really caring if he was.

As soon as Gwyn told him that he looked like nothing, he pouted childishly. It was all in good fun, but he thought it kind of sucked, not being able to see. “Well, that kind of, sucks. I guess not really, since you don’t really know what you’re missing.” Crap. Even Tarou could tell that that was bordering on insensitive. Lately he had been trying to distinguish the difference between honesty and insensitive; it was hard work, but he was finally getting the idea. All that was left to do was to practice it, so that he didn’t do anything stupid.

Well, he wasn’t doing so well now, was he?

“Well, I’ll tell you what I look like.” He said, trying to help Gwyn. He didn’t want to apologize for something that he believed was true. “Well, I have small brown eyes… Brown’s a color that’s close to black, and it looks a bit rusty…” He struggled to explain, never having to describe a color before. “They’re kind of small on my face. I have brown hair, and it’s kind of messy and falls onto my neck.” Was there even a point in describing something to a person that had never seen before? He didn’t know, but he struggled to try.

“I’m a bit taller than you, and I guess that would mean that I weight more. My clothes are just a shirt and pants.” He frowned, not feeling like he did a good job at describing things at all. “W-well, I’ll have to thin of more adjectives and stuff! So next time, I can do it better…” He said hesitantly.

(duct i hate you lmao)

Rai tried to look for Kuri more but couldn't see a thing past the fog. He growled and yelled at Kuri. "You need to stop hiding you darn chameleon!!!" He huffed and huffed. He wasn't used to yelling. In fact, he hardly ever yelled. If he was truly upset he'd be silent. That is when you should worry. He looked around as hard as he could but still he couldn't see anything the fog hid everything from his eyes. Kuri might as well have been two feet in front of him waving his arms trying to fly. The thought made Rai smile. He couldn't hide it. He went silent and just waited for Kuri to do SOMETHING.

“Well, since I’ve never sparred before, I can’t really say I’d win.”

This was a true enough statement, after all no one could predict the future. Without adequate knowledge it is sometimes hard to come to a true conclusion, but even so, he was going against a blind, deft, small, girl. He should at least have felt he had somewhat of the upper hand no? Maybe he was just being modest. Gwyn then tried to put herself in his shoes. Imagining she had just been challenged to a fight against an opponent whom she didn't know. She supposed she too would not feel very confident in her chances, but that wouldn't stop her from trying. After all, how could you build up confidence if you didn't try, you would never gain any more data, your conclusion would always lack the necessary data. Gwyn sighed, too each their own.

“Well, that kind of, sucks. I guess not really, since you don’t really know what you’re missing.”

Gwyn ignored the backhanded comment. She knew Tarou wasn't meaning to be rude, and around someone of Gwyn's condition it was hard to say much without unintentionally insulting her. She gave Tarou a B for effort, but once again, hardly cared. Sometimes it was nice to hear an uncensored mouth run it course, just so long as it didn't impede her from doing what needed to get done. "I suppose you're right, I don't know what I'm missing, so in the end it doesn't matter does it?" Gwyn's fingers played with the pages of the book. She had long sense given up trying to "read" it, and figured that sooner or later the seals would just come to her on instinct. She would think about it, and there it would be. It may have been an odd system, but it was a system that worked.

Gwyn let her mind wander as Tarou attempted to explain color to her, many before had tried, and just like now, failed. It is impossible to think of a color. The mind cannot create a color it has no preconceived recognition of. So Gwyn just let him talk, drowning him out with the ring of silence so she could focus on her handseals. That was the nice little bit about her curse. It was very easy to ignore somebody. She would tune in every so often to see if he had finished talking, but most of her energy had been turned to the next seal.

Fiddling with her finger Gwyn stumbled upon the Horse seal. Her knuckles stacked together in a tower, starting with her right pinky and continuing to the left middle finger. The two index fingers were straight and touched each other at the pads. The thumbs where bent, and pressed against the first knuckle of either appropriate index. As she hit this seal she felt once more the surge of chakra through her and flashed through all seven seals that she knew in quick succession. Whens he was pleased with her result she turned her attention back to Tarou, a smile on her face. "It is useless to try and explain color to me, however height, weight, and basic clothing I do understand." Gwyn gave a small laugh tossing the book up and down softly. "If you really want to catch my imagination, true using textures." If there was one thing Gwyn knew better than anything else on this world, it was how things felt against the skin.

Gwyn returned to her state if absolute nothing once more. All she could feel was the mist against her skin and her breath in her face. The perspiration blew black against her in the soft wind that carried the mist. It cause a pulse of heat followed by sudden cold. The ebb and flow of temperature caught all of Gwyn attention. She could feel everything, every microscopic droplet, every tensing nerve, even the blood pumping through her face. Every last, minute detail was there perfectly clear against her skin. She was absorbed so throughly in these feeling that the world slipped away from her. There was no Tarou, there was no ground, there was not Gwyn. There was only darkness, the mist, and the heat of her own breath.

Gwyn was not sure for how long she sat there. Blank faced, silent, unobservant. It was as if she was a statue, and even when she attempted to move, she couldn't. She couldn't to anything other than feel her breath heat her face. It did not take long for Gwyns black world to once more drift back to her. It started with a steady thump. A rythmic bass that had forever ruled her life. She could feel it always running in her chest, pushing and squeezing, the motor to her mechanical body. The next sensation was that of her lungs. Growing and shrinking with they same rhythm as the heat on her face. The rest of the world followed suit. The ever growing trees, the grass, the mud, Andou, Tarou. Everything came back in one living, breathing moment.

Gwyn's mind had been to absorb in the feeling that she had forgotten her task. She had not thought about the handseals, or the power they released because she had been pulled in to the chakra of the world so to speak. Or perhaps she had just dozed off in her own mind. Maybe everything she had felt was just a dream fabricated by the great computer that was the brain. It would make sense, after all this task was rather boring and even the stimulation she was getting was small. Whatever the cause she needed to focus, she couldn't sit here waisting time, she had to make sure she progressed fast enough that she could over take everyone in her class. That was her goal, to best everyone, and she had no time to waist on silly dreaming.

Conviction and resolve were what was going to get Gwyn through this task. Along with as steady amount of hard work and motivation. All she needed to do was focus on the task at hand and she would burn through it as if it were nothing. There was a time to play within one own mind and a time to play outside of it, right now Gwyn's problem was an inability to find a happy medium. Her progress output wasn't shoddy by any means, it was quite swift if she did say so herself, but with so many bumps and gaps in between all she was doing was slowing herself down. She was over half way there, and that sparked thoughts into her mind. What kind of person do I want to be? For what purpose should I serve? There were all question she had asked herself before, but she had let them sit and stew for long enough. She knew what type of person she wanted to be, and even how to get there. She wan't to be the best, plain and simple, and she would get there by plenty of hard work, and perhaps some help by people like Tarou. As for the purpose she would serve... Gwyn's eye flashed with excitement, she would serve to defend this village. So long had she been growing up bitter about the people here that she never truly stopped to think of what they had given her. They had given her a home, they were giving her an education, and they would later give her a purpose.

Gwyn smiled, filled with a new purpose to do better than she had been doing prior. Swiftly she flashed through all seven seals, willing her body to the eighth. Her body seemed to have felt the passion that was currently coursing through Gwyn's veins because it didn't even hesitate to provide her the eighth. The Monkey, how appropriate that, of all the seals, this one would come so simply to her. Gwyn felt the seal, studied the way in felt. It was an odd seal. Gwyn's left hand was horizontal, palm to the ground, while her right sat below it, palm up. The two hands were hooked together by thumb and pinky. Gwyn couldn't help but throw a celebration in her head. She ensured her outside facade was still cool, and uninterested, business as usual. The only thing deviating for this look was a sly smile creeping its way across the girls young lips.

2/3 of the way there and she was getting faster every moment. Nothing was going to stop her from achieving her goal. She would be damned if she wasn't the best shinobi she could be for her team. While running through the eight hand seals she know knew as well as her own heartbeat Gwyn ran through a list of things she would have to do to ensure her strive for greatness. Patience, hard study, training, practice, friends... On the last thought her eyes drifted in Tarou's general direction. As much as she hated to admit it, she was going to need others. She could only count on herself for so long.

Even with the pace Gwyn had been going at boredom was starting to claw at her. Despite popular belief her idea of fun wasn't sitting around playing with her hands. She did like to do stuff. She guess' this is what Tarou must have been feeling like. Perhaps not though, from what Gwyn had seen he seemed almost content to just lallygagging about so long as he changed positions every so often. She was going to figure him out one of these days, find out what made him tick. That was one thing Gwyn loved about people, finding out what made them tick. How they worked. Because each one was different, each person was unique. Yet almost all shared at least one personality trait with someone close to them. If she could consider Tarou and herself close than she would say Tarou shared her blunt honesty.

Gwyn let herself once more drift in and out of her head, unable to focus on any one task in particular. She wished this training had been combined with some sort of other activity. Jump rope, or something of the sort... Jump rope? You can't make handseals while jumping rope... Unless of course you do double dutch... Gwyn went back and forth with herself in her head. All the while she was looking down at her hands, they were just hanging there limply. There was no use running through the handseals she knew already, she could already summon them up in a heartbeat upon request. But the new ones seemed to allude her. Unable to find them through feeling she was resigned to give up until some brilliant stroke of genius came to her again.

Perhaps thats why she was so bored. All of her success and failure seemed to rely on luck in some form or another. She truly had no control over what came to her, it just simply did. This may have been a different story if she had an active role in how it progress, but she was a slave to her own body. It didn't seem to be doing her any good, these handseals. They were supposed to be taught as the building blocks of jutsu, yet no one had started on a jutsu, hell she wasn't even sure the teacher was fully aware of his surrounds. For God sake who gives a blind child a book and just sends them on their marry way to learn from it? A crazy person thats who... That's it, Gwyn decided, my teacher is crazy.
