Joshua leaned towards her.
"Like almost everything else in life," he said, "it's only a game."

"So very true," Flare replied. "Life itself is only a game, and all of us pieces and players both."
Why was he leaning in so close to her? Did he wish to fight again? Maybe...
Flare threw an arm around him, as if they were old chums. Seems the damn piss beer actually contained enough alcohol to get her buzzed; which really had been the entire point in coming to this...fine establishment.

"'s just a game, woman. Don't play unless you're out for fun."
The beer was barely passable, the company marginally less so, all in all it wasn't turning out to be so bad a day after all.
(( Despite that this 'day' has gone on for 2 months. biggrin ))

Acacia hummed gently as she wandered the shopping area of Latent looking for something suitable. A little lump in her shirt stirred, sitting right in the middle between her little brests and making a small peep. "Hey come on little guy that tickles, settle down." Acacia whispered down into her shirt. She looked up at the shop windows again to find just what she was looking for, a store that sold bags and other such accesories for carrying things. She stopped to take a good look in the window for anything that might work.

Now, now, now look, I dont want a--
His hands were up, his right hand covered in a full glove while his left was fingerless. It seemed he was completely oblivious to the weather this morning, because he wore a loose black shirt over a thin dark grey dress shirt. His left sleeve was rolled up, but his right was extended and tied. Despite the sunny day he wore all black, and at the moment he was trying to resist a very pushy robot.
Enjoy the easter spirit.
Uh sir, I just...I just dont want a little chi....
Easter is your friend. Enjoy the e--
Alright...I'll take one...
The little yellow fuzz ball made, a hop and a chirp from the machine to Maximos' right arm, up his shoulder and plopped onto his very un-enthused head. Though just as he was about to make his way back into the crowd and away from the annoying robot, he found himself suddenly collided with a young woman with a similar little creature.
Oomph! Oh! Sorry, ma'am!

Acacia's little chick started peeping wildly at the sudden jolt from the stranger and she pulled it out of her shirt to make sure it wasn't hurt, it seemed fine, just a little upset. "That's alright sir no harm done." She looked up with her stunning violet eyes to see that he too had recieved a chick too except his was much larger and fatter. "I see you have one too." She brushed her short black hair off her face and got a closer look at him, she had a feeling he looked a little familiar. "Excuse me but, do I know you?"

Oh, ok good.
He said with a nervous smile itching the back of his head. Those eyes...his white right eye, and black left eye met her vivacious violet eyes and quiet honestly he found himself speechless for just a moment. He had to pause to take them in for a moment, but the longer he paused, the more she seemed familiar. He had seen her...at some time, somewhere....for some reason he couldnt shake the mental image of a snake. He was about ask a bit farther when...she did.
That just confirmed it. He had foggy memories, vines, a ring...black shadow. And a wierd word...Kottle? Quitlo? No...that wasnt right.
I...think we have.
His right arm twitched, reaching up to pluck the chickie from atop his head and rest it in his open palm.
Have you ever been to the Leviathan Stadium?

"I live there, but I don't fight anymore, I gues you could call me a resident spectator." She stroked her little yellow chick's soft down with her index finger to calm it down, it settled in the palm of her right hand and seemed content to sleep there. "Say we had a fight once I'm sure, I wasn't very good. Your name was.." She thought hard and was almost sure it started with an M, something big and grand, a name with some strength behind it, he had been shadowy and fairly mysterious. She gave him a tentive smile while she thought about it, he looked different now. "Don't help me out I almost remember! It was.. It was uh.. Mm Mmmaximus??" She was iffy about this guess at most, she was sure whatever it was sounded very similar but she soon began to doubt weather it started with an M at all.

Yes, yes that it! I remember that.
He grinned from ear to ear. It was always good to see a old friend, or a new friend depending on how well one knew the person. He could hardly remember the fight, but there were no big warning markers to tell brandish her as a threat or an enemy.
I know the feeling, I guess you could say fighting just isnt for me.
She was so close, true to her request he didnt give his name. But he did smirk as she tried to remember. And then let out a little laugh as she guessed it.
Maximos, pretty close though. Ms...A...Acadia?
He semi-winced, expecting the worse. His memory just wasnt what it used to be.

"You're close too, its Acacia. Its nice to recognize someone once in a while, I see so many people at the stadium once and then never again." He seemed nice and he had been nice from what she could remember, plus who could be afraid of someone holding a chubby yellow chick, even if they did look kind of dark and shadowy. "I was just looking for something to carry my little friend here in. What brings you to Latent?" She held up the chick to demonstrate who she was talking about. The little chick blinked tiredly and gave a little peep.

Darn!
He said, snapping his fingers.
So close!
Maximos always wore a bright smile, thought it did seem to die down ever so slightly as she brought up the subject. The arena...just wasnt the arena it used to be, and for any of those that had the pleasure of seeing it in its prime...it was a shame.
Indeed...it seems very....lacking, these days.
There was a slight pause, sort of a moment of silence for the memory of the arena. Until of course she asked what brought him here.
Oh!
He reached behind his back, unzipping a small over the shoulder one strap pack and pulling a thick red book from it with a healthy coat of dust over it, and an odd set of markings on its cover.
I was just picking up some light reading from a bookstore nearby. They have some of the best coffee too! Have you ever been to Fe...fi...femurgin?

She giggled at his reaction to getting her name wrong. As he commented on the Stadium Acacia couldn't help but feel he was right, it wasn't as busy and full of life as it used to be, it seemed colder since the re-build. "Yes it does seem sort of quiet these days, theres lots of competition popping up elsewhere." He pulled the book out and her pupils widened as if trying to take the book in, it looked very interesting to her and she smiled at his difficulty with the word. "I've never seen writing like that before, and I've never heard of femurgin." She wanted to ask more about the book but waited in case he had an explenation.

This old thing?
He flipped the book open to a random page with a picture of some sort of bat-wolf creature. It had text that looked alot like 2d brail, with dots and lines all over it.
Its a Gelven Bestiary, its got all sorts of Gaian creatures, especially the rare ones.
He gently turned the page, a puff of dust wafting off.
Its got lineage, history. All sorts of extremely useful information. This world is full of all sorts of unique things. Its written in an Elven, Draconic mix. You wouldnt happen to know either would you? His right arm twitched just a bit.

Acacia really wanted to touch the book herself, it was almost irresistable to reach out and touch the print her left hand hovered close to it but she put it down. "Wow, I wonder if theres anything about my father in there." She was just about to ask him if he could read it to her when he asked if she could read any of it. "Like I said before I've never seen writing like that, I speak two languages but I only read in one. You can't read it?" It was a question but from the one he asked her it didn't seem like he could. Even if he couldn't she didn't want to stop talking just yet. "Would you like to get some coffee with me?" She felt her cheeks blush a pale pink hopefully he wouldn't notice she wasn't sure why she felt nervous about asking a simple question.

Only very slowly.
He said with a nervous smile scratching the back of his head again.
Elven and Draconic are...complicated.
He tried to point out the text and trace certain symbols.
The slightest curve means something in one, and something else in the other. Gelven was a sneaky man.
He let out something of a sigh as he slid the book shut, knocked the cover gently and slid to the first page.
But...he has some good material. What sort of being was your fath--coffee?
His ears perked and his eyes rose to meet hers again. Those violet pools were amazing, he smiled and honest smile from ear to ear. He did note the blush but, he didnt understand what it meant at all. So in his warmest friendliest tone he answered.
Sounds wonderful!
