Sam wandered around outside Pewter City, not sure what to do. She sat down on the path, and pulled out her pokedex. "Might as well find out exactly what your moves do..." she said to Miles, who was lounging near her. She hadn't seen the point in putting Star and Miles back in their balls, they were so little and they needed to explore too.

"Maelogan the Mankey. Moves: Covet, Scratch, Low Kick, Leer, Focus Energy" Sam was surprised. That was more moves then she had been told previously. She looked at the descriptions of Covet and Focus Energy. Those could be useful...She stood up. Star, sprawled out in a mud puddle, glanced upwards. Was Sam going to make her battle again? This mudbath was so relaxing...

"Miles, want to try another battle?" The Mankey aimed a kick at Sam's legs. "Okay, I'll take that as a yes?" He kicked her again. "Alright alright. You obviously need to burn off some energy." She walked off in search of a pokemon for Miles to battle. Star huffed. Sam hadn't even paid the slightest attention! How dare she not pay attention to Star, her first pokemon, the one who had saved her, who stood by her through thick and thin! Miles winked at her and dashed after Sam. Star got out of the mud puddle and chased him through the tall grass. She was going to attack him, rip him to shreds, bite into his soft fur...she skidded to a stop. Sam was in front of her, Miles hanging onto her leg. Star peered around to see what they were staring at. An oversized purple mouse was 10 feet in front of them, staring at the sky. Sam smirked. She was remembering the type charts she had looked at so much when she little. Rattata was a normal-type pokemon, and Miles was fighting-type. Too easy.

"Miles, quietly, use Focus Energy." Miles pumped himself up, ready for the battle. He clenched his hands, feeling energy coursing through him. "Okay, now Low Kick. It won't do a whole lot of damage, but maybe we'll get a critical hit." Miles went on all fours, and bounded forward. The Rattata twitched, and spun around. It sprinted forward, landing a Quick Attack before Miles finished his attack. However it's sudden speed left it, and it became vunerable to the kick. Miles' kick connected with the Rattata's face, though with less thunder than intended, seeing as Miles hadn't been prepared for the Quick Attack. The Rattata sprang backwards, then bounced forward again. It bit Miles with it's oversized teeth, though with no actual power from a move, it did little except give Miles a nice puncture wound. Miles gripped the wound, furious at the Rattata for biting him, furious at himself for not avoiding it, and furious at Sam for not protecting him. Whose side was she on anyways?! The Rattata came in for a tackle, and Miles dodged out of the way. Why wasn't Sam giving him any commands? In truth, Sam had frozen up. She didn't know what to do with Miles. Miles hid in a tree. It gave him time to think. Sam watched him sit there, hunkered down into a ball.

"Miles? Are you okay?" He glared at her fiercely. She backed off. "Okay you're angry...who are you angry at? Me?" Miles gesticulated rapidly, pointing at her, the Rattata who was jumping up at Miles from the base of the tree, himself, Star, and finally making large sweeping motions indicating the world. "Okay everyone...who are you most mad at?" Miles rolled his eyes. He shrugged harshly. He sat there brooding. The excitement of the battle was draining away. "Miles make up your mind. Do you want to hurt me, your trainer? Or do you want to destory that Rattata that gave you that nasty bite?" She purposely loaded her sentences with words to nudge him in the right direction. She didn't want another kick to the shin. The scab that had formed was still fairly weak. Miles nodded, and suddenly jumped down, landing on the Rattata's head. It dazed the Mouse Pokemon. Miles scampered over to Sam, and stared, waiting for an order. Sam smiled.

"See, not so hard? Focus your anger at the Rattata. Give it a nice big kick in-" Miles kicked her shins. She held her shin as he snickered in his own way, and ran after the dazed purple mouse. He launched himself with a grunt, and kicked the feet out from under the Mouse. It landed hard on it's jaw, biting it's tongue. It lay there for a moment, then got up. Sam was impressed.

"Wow, a real fighter eh? Miles, use Focus Energy again!" Miles inhaled deeply, and closed his eyes. "Miles! No time for a nap!" Miles gestured for her to shut up. He opened his eyes slowly, just in time to see the Rattata dashing forward for another Quick Attack. This time Miles was ready, and tried to absorb the shock of the attack. As the Rattata quickly headbutted Miles, he held onto it's tail. He chuckled. He lifted the Rattata above his head by the tail. He stared right into it's eyes, and it gazed back stoically. He swung it like a lasso, and let go, the Rattata crying out in pain and surprise. It flew upwards for a short time, then came crashing downwards. Miles jumped up to meet it, overshooting it but compensating by landing on top of it's back. He stood proudly, weighing it down while it tried to get back up. Out of nowhere, Star dashed forward with teeth bared.

"Hey! Star this isn't your battle!" Sam took out Star's pokeball and recalled Star. She growled loudly as she was dragged back in. Sam breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Star apparently wasn't used to the idea of not being an only pokemon. Miles jumped down off the Mous Pokemon's back and nudged it with his foot. It clamped down on one of his toes with his teeth. He yowled, and with his other foot kicked it in the head, which rendered it unconscious. Miles sat down, panting. Sam recalled him to his pokeball.

"Great job, Miles. We are so ready for Brock."

Hitmontop burst out of the ground so fast that Metang didn't even see him coming, and it wasn't until he felt the foot connect with his underside that he even realized what had happened. His attempted Confusion barrier failed him and he went reeling back, pain reverberating throughout his entire metallic frame. "Metang, hang in there," Jaeshan called out, finally using his voice. And blast Hitmontop with another Confusion while you can, he thought, again directing his thoughts towards Metang. Jaeshan thought he heard Metang's metallic humming resonating around him as a response, but he couldn't be sure if it was in his mind or not.

Metang wasn't going to argue with his trainer's next command (and he was liking this mental communication they had going on) and like before his eyes and body shone with a silvery blue aura that was swept out towards the Hitmontop like a psychic claw, though Jaeshan could tell that this one was not as strong as the first.

"Nice goin dude!"Brawly exclaimed when Hitmontop connected with his attack. Hitmontop was as focused as ever, landing back on the ground with a spinning motion as he regained his perfect balance on his head. They both looked on at their opponents, Metang had to have felt that one in his very core! But before Brawly could come up with their next move, The Iron Claw pokemon unleashed another wave of psychic energy that took them both by surprise. Hitmontop heard no commands, he saw no gestures or anything to sudgest a counter strike, he was completely blindsided by the attack which knocked him off of his head and sent him tumbling back. "What!? Hitmontop you alright?" What was that all about? Was the Metang acting on it's own? No, Jae was to good to lose control of his pokemon, it had to be something else. So they'd reached that level already, nice. Hitmontop was not so impressed though, as his brain was pulsing from the attack. Being hit with another attack like that out of the blue, he couldn't help but lose himself a bit. He staggered back to his feet and rolled over onto his head, but his wobbled around in an apparent daze. "Oh man, not good. Hitmontop, try and keep focused, let's get them with another Dig!" Hitmontop grunted as he leaped up into the air again, but his senses were shot right now and he ended up coming down wrong. Instead of plowing into the ground he simply hit it hard, damaging himself in his confusion.

Kilik was slightly taken aback by the Pokemon that stood in front of them right now. To him, it looked like an Anubis from ancient Egypt. He had no idea what type it was, or what it could do. Mitsu's PokeDex seemed to be a little mum on the subject. Suddenly, the PokeDex in his pocket began to freak out. He whipped the device out and pointed it at the Lucario. The gruff voice began to blare out, rather rudely. "Lucario is a Fighting-type, as well as a Steel-type. That means you can use Ground-type and Fighting-type moves for the most damage." The boy blinked. He'd never encountered a Pokemon with that typing before. "Its special attack is called Aura Sphere - a powerful move that never misses."

"So it's like Shock Wave?" Kilik asked.

"Yes, it's like Shock Wave. It is worth noting that Lucario has an extremely high power level. It's over ni--" Kilik shut the device and shoved it into his pocket. "Congratulations, Mitsu! It looks powerful! I'd like one myself..." He began to stroke his chin. He was becoming rather fond of Steel-types, and Lucario suddenly became no exclusion.

"...And that's that," Giovanni sighed, recalling his Machamp and clipping the ball to his belt. "Come back when you're stronger and perhaps you'll be able to get the Earth Badge." Once more, the Gym Leader had defeated yet another trainer. He went to the confines of his office and sat in his chair. He reflected on all his losses - all of them were critical. And all of them because of those kids. Any victory he did have was minor in comparison to the idea of beating those children.

"Dammit! What do they have that I don't?!" Giovanni looked over his shoulder when he heard the door open behind him - London was standing in the doorway. Slowly, the man stood up and turned. "Ah, London. How did the mission go?"

Jaeshan flinched outwardly when he saw the Hitmontop crash into ground; he never liked to see Pokemon get hurt like that, regardless of the circumstances. However, being the challenger in a gym match he couldn't ignore a perfect opening such as this. "Now Metang," he said sharply, the sound of his own voice startling even himself after the mental commands he'd issued before. "Follow it up with a Brick Break!"

It was easy to see that after taking even just those two hits (and one of them being super-effective, at that) that Metang was looking significantly weaker. However, the Iron Claw Pokemon wasn't about to back down just yet and he shot across the battlefield, ready to bash its fists into the confused Hitmontop.

"Master, must I say it again?" The Pokemon asked, his back still turned to the trainers. The voice, Mitsu just noticed, rang clearly in her mind. It was almost a form of telepathy, like Karri's, but she could feel the barrier between their mental speech. "All right, all right," Mitsu chuckled. "Be right back."

The girl took to the hallways, taking a few sharp turns before reaching the showers. The water pulsed forth and splashed on her body washing away the dried sand and the salt water smell off her body. It was a quick rinse, but it got the job done. She stepped out and drying herself with a fluffy white towel before pulling on her undergarments. Reaching over her head she pulled over the solid, one-hundred percent cotton shirt over her head, it featured her signature color: purple. Next was her (surprise, surprise) purple skirt, equally new and just a bit stiff from their recent purchase. The next two things on her list were her almost blazer style green jacket and her small purple scarf. Last were her knee high socks and boots. For a moment as she stared in the mirror, she felt like she matched too much. Almost, anyways.

Stepping from the bathroom Mitsu had made it back in a rather short amount of time. Both of them were still there, Lucario still stand where he had been, rooted to the ground. One would think he was a statue or maybe a tree. Yes, a black and blue tree. The purple haired girl had just made it back to the rag-tag group, if it could even be called a group, before before pushed backwards as someon ever so kindly decided to run into her shoulder. "Hey!" she called out, stumbling a little, a small glare dancing in her eyes at the offender.

"Watch it, woman!" the man spat back without even looking at Mitsu. However, Lucario had other ideas. His eyes narrowed, as he moved in front of the man, blocking his path. He stood stiffly, not a hair on his body moved. "Apologize. Now," he stated simply, his voice as cold as the steel he was comprised of. Only he could hear it though, leaving Mitsu a bit puzzled.

"Littleroot Town?" Riza repeated, watching Keegan fidget with what looked like some sort of tm disc and a great ball, having no real clue what he was doing. "I don't know where that is," she admitted with a sheepish shrug. Then again, she didn't know were pretty much anything in Hoenn was. She probably couldn't even find her way back to Slateport, god forbid she ever want to go back there again. "What are you doing?" she asked, but Keegan was already heading outside. Riza shrugged and grabbed her bag to follow him. Why were boys so impulsive and weird?

When Riza stepped through the sliding doors a burst of warm air greeted her and she groaned, already missing the climate-controlled atmosphere of the pokecenter. Hoenn was far too warm for her liking, she really wanted to go back home to Johto and continue with what she'd wanted to do there. That is, before Jaden had practically forced her onto that boat at gun point and made her come here. 'I guess it's not all bad though,' she thought, looking over towards Keegan as he released his newest Pokemon. "Flying?" Riza asked, approaching a bit cautiously, as she didn't really like the looks of that big, metal bird. "I'm quite fine with it actually, but you don't possibly think that a bird made of metal can actually fly? And while carrying the both of us, as I'm sure you are aware I have no Pokemon that can fly." She crossed her arms after making her point.

"Do you talk to yourself often?" Of course he had opened the door without knocking, standing there in the doorway and watching the Rocket leader with a bit of a smile. "They say that's the first sign of madness, you know." The boy strode in, waving a hand behind him as he went to shut the door. "It went well, of course. Why would you expect anything less of me? I don't even think I was seen."

London produced four Pokeballs from within his coat, naming the contents of each ball as it was set down on Giovanni's desk. "Scyther, Tauros, Kangaskhan, and Chansey. I assume they will be to your liking. So what's next?"

Keegan could only chuckle at Riza's doubt. "Ye of little faith, lass," he said mockingly. "Actually, a Skarmory's bones are hollow and quite light, which allow it to fly," he said knowledgeably, taking several steps closer to Alvero. The Skarmory flinched a little, but not out of fear, more out of complete and utter dislike for the boy. Despite this, the Armour Bird Pokemon crouched down low enough in order to allow the boy to climb on his back, and now both were looking towards Riza.

"Are you coming with, or not?" Keegan asked, once again holding out his hand to help her climb up, if she so wished. "Or would you rather stay here in Lilycove and wait?" He offered a crooked smile and a shrug, not really wanting to push her into doing something she wasn't up for. "I don't care either way, do what you want."

The last thing Mary-Anne remembered thinking was that the sand felt like warm silk beneath her skin, and that this wasn't good at all -- she was going to slip away into this comfortable darkness despite the haughty sun glaring into eyelids, oh my, but wasn't that proud star's light so warm on her pale skin! Apparently her midday drowsiness was too much to overcome, for the next thing she was consciously aware of was Maxine, Sae's fiance's Tropius, roaring about in panic mode on the relatively quiet beaches of Lilycove. If you would kindly recall, M.A. had just received Maxine's egg, though the mother would only consent to giving it to her if she passed the dinosaur's analysis.

Said egg was nowhere in sight. M.A. groggily connected this fact to Maxine's rampage. "W-wait, what happened?" she asked, shooting up on her feet only to stagger a little bit; little tendrils of sleep was still pulling at her lashes and she had gotten up a wee bit fast, but she banished slumber's threads away by roughly scrubbing her eyes with her forearms. Diego, next to her, stretched and yawned himself; apparently he had fallen asleep too. "Well, dona," he wrote lazily into the sky. "U and (insert picture of dinosaur) wer snoozing so comfy, so I joined in. (Insert picture of a Houndoom), (insert picture of a Donphan), n' (insert picture of a Swablu) wer stil awake so ask tem."

Daemyn and Tora were a dirty, guilty pair nearby, both looking somewhat sheepishly at the ground. Daemyn looked up a moment, then stared at the horizon to grumble something for the Smeargle to decipher. "Apparently," Diego continued, his loopy writing dancing along in the beachy breeze, "dey wer 2 beezee fiting to notice nething. N' (insert picture of Swablu) eez missin 2."

Ay caramba, M.A. sighed. What a little dilemma! Her personal optimism didn't allow her to mope too much, though; everything always turned out alright, didn't it? Where could they have gone? It wasn't like Ulani to disappear -- wait, no, it was -- but something felt off about this time; why would she leave with Maxine's egg?

"Maxine... MAXINE!" she called out to the rampaging Tropius. The dinosaur stopped, glared at the stick of a girl in front of her. "U-uh, o-okay, I know you're upset --" Maxine snorted in response, the air nearly blowing M.A. over -- "and I know I don't have much of a position to say this with, but trust me! I'll find your baby.."

Maxine continued to glare. How? her eyes challenged.

M.A. grinned a little, still intimidated but apparently sure of something. "I've got a pair of awesome noses!" With that, she put one hand on Daemyn's head, and one on Tora's. "Can you find Ulani?" she asked of them; they both huffed, as if offended by the idea that they couldn't. "Well then, I wonder... which one of you could find her first?"

Daemyn and Tora eyed each other, hearing the subtle challenge there. "I've known her scent longer than you have," Daemyn said, all snide. "You might as well just give it up."

"She.. She sits on me more!" Tora trumpetted confidently, feeling this was a winning argument.

"'Only 'cause you're so thick-headed that you can't even feel her f*ckin' annoying claws on you!"

"Why I oughta--"

"Bring it, Dumbo!"

And with that the two stormed off. "They'll find your egg, definitely!" M.A. called to Maxine, starting to run after them. The Tropius could only frown and follow, hoping this irresponsibly happy brunette child was right.

Kilik felt a bit awkward sitting alone with Lucario. Part of his Rocket past was coming through - he felt a bit like stealing it. But he couldn't do that to Mitsu. He shook the thought from his head and walked up to the front desk. Nurse Joy had finished healing his Pokemon. Kilik took both PokeBalls and attached them to his belt. He slipped a hand into his pocket and quietly waited for Mitsu to come out. He heard a bit of commotion and then saw Lucario spring into action. Definitely getting me one of those in Sinnoh. He thought.

-*-

Giovanni crossed his arms over his chest and looked at the four Rocket Balls that were on his desk. "Beautiful. Though this Scyther isn't anything like Kilik's I'm assuming..." he took the spheres and placed them in his pockets, deciding to put them in his personal storage later. A light clicked in his head. Hm...

"London, I have a special mission for you..." Giovanni wrapped an arm around the boy's shoulder and began to walk down the stairs into his lab. The scientists were all busy with their specific tasks. The machine that they had created for cloning the Master Ball had finally been rebuilt and fully functional. A grin spread across his face. Yet the man kept walking passed all the machines towards his world map. "Our intelligence has found that Kilik is resting here in Lilycove. He's currently waiting for the ship to Sinnoh. I think you should go out to him and give him a friendly reminder that Team Rocket is still thinking about him. You're strong, London," Giovanni placed both his hands on the boy's shoulders, "But so is Kilik. It's not whether you win or lose," the man said. He dug a small device out of his pocket. "It's whether you can place this tracker on him. We know nothing of the Sinnoh Region and I'd like to know where he is at all times. Understood, London?" He put the small chip into London's hand.

'Hollow?' Riza thought, still very much doubting that the heavy-looking bird would be able to go airborne at all, but she decided to take Keegan's word for it. Besides, if he was wrong, then she would have the pleasure of mocking him for it for the rest of his life. "All right, I'm coming," she mumbled, reaching for his hand for the second time that day. "If he can fly," she added, deciding not to call Alvero a 'thing' lest he decide to drop her at some point later on, "you'd better not let me fall," she said sharply, giving Keegan a very stern look. "Or I swear to Mew that I will haunt you forever." And with that, she let him help her up, suddenly finding herself very eager to fly again.

"Shut up!" the man replied pushing Lurcaio only to find that his efforts yielded no results. Once again the Steel Pokemon was rooted in place, his eyes still narrowed into a glare and his mouth taut. "Apologize," he said once more, offering the oaf one last chance. When it didn't come he simply waited. "Punk!" the man replied, not accustomed to being held up by a Pokemon. He was a slightly bulky figure, big enough to take out most humans easily. Pokemon, however, were another matter. Especially one as foreign as Lucario. "Take care of this guy Grovyle," she demanded slamming the Pokeball into the floor of the Pokemon Center.

A disapproving tsk was utter from the pale lips of Nurse Joy, "Please take this outside." Lurcario broke his glare to reply with a soft, "Of course." Somehow the two Pokemon and two trainer made it outside, a few paces away from the Pokemon Center. Mitsu took note of Keegan and that girl with the Ralts, her name was Riza if she remembered correctly. She gave them a small wave, taking note of the new and impressive bird Pokemon, Skarmory, a Hoenn native that she was familiar with.

But back to the business at hand, the man wasted no time with attacking. Lucario, he felt, had taken a stab at his pride and he wasn't going to take that sitting down. "Leaf Blade!" the man shouted, his voice boom like a speaker box at a football stadium, where no doubt he spent most of his time, or at least Mitsu thought.

The Wood Gecko Pokemon, another one Mitsu had seen often, sped into action raising his two arms in the shape of an X. He dashed forward, the six leaves all shining with a green, almost metallic glow. Lucario, lightly jumped to the side, a frontal attack like that would not slow him down in the slightest. His previous trainer had taught him well, and he would not disappoint Mitsu as he was well aware of his new ownership long before he was given away. "Master, if I may?" he asked, not bothering to turn to face the girl.

Mitsu couldn't shake the uncomfortable title of master, it was much too formal for her tastes. And well, with her current lack of knowledge about Lucario's attacks she could not refuse. The limited knowledge gained from Kilik's Pokedex as well as her own did not provide much help when it came to her current, and unfortunate situation. "Go ahead," she replied.

And he let the flames roll, literally. With a quick dash he caught up to the Grovyle in no time at all, giving the Pokemon an emotionless look before ripping his right leg upward, flames wrapping themselves onto his leg before eagerly jumping onto the Grass type.

Once the Houndour had clear vision again, Kirsa made them stand apart once more while she resumed her sideline position, Pokedex in hand. She was uncertain of how Rolf was going to follow the 'defensive only' command, but it was going to be tried anyway; it wasn't like she had anything else to do until evening, when Sasha was supposed to return. So until then, Kirsa would simply remain out on the beach.

"Hans! Let's see how Bite works!" The Houndour was only too pleased to carry this out, lunging forward to close the distance between he and Rolf. The Poochyena tried to scrabble out of the way - to Kirsa's surprise - but Hans' jaw snapped shut on him, and Rolf yelped. "Good! Now - " Rolf wasn't about to take that kind of abuse laying down. As soon as he was free he rounded on his teammate and returned the bite, but instead of getting into an all-out brawl, Hans froze. Literally, he froze. Kirsa wasn't really surprised that Rolf had broke command, but what he had done definitely made her raise her eyebrows. What move was that...?

"...." The cadet sighed and replaced her Pokedex back into her bag and withdrew their Pokeballs. She'd check up on it later. For now she needed to go buy some Ice Heal. Kirsa recalled Rolf and Hans and slipped the balls back into their pockets, then wobbled her way off the sand and on to the pavement. Now, where was that store Sasha had taken her to last night...?

--------

London couldn't help but roll his eyes at the mention of that Kilik kid; Giovanni seemed obsessed with him. He was just considering saying something about it, but the mention of a special mission made him hold his tongue, just this once. No protest was made at walking along at his boss's side, even though it made him feel really, really short. His gaze flickered over the scientists and the machines as they passed them, wondering what each of them did but holding back his questions for now. He could always come down here and find out for himself, but for the moment he was too intrigued by this special mission Giovanni had spoke of.

Oh, dammit...The boy had to try really hard to keep from making about a dozen different remarks. Kilik again. Just what was so great about this Kilik kid? Had he been one of the ones on the television? "Sure, I can do that, no problem." London couldn't help but smile a bit as his ego was stroked, taking the little chip into his hand. "Which one was Kilik, again? Also how am I getting out there?"

"I won't let you fall," Keegan reassured her as he pulled her up into the space in front of him, mostly so she wouldn't wrap her arms around his injured ribs, and it was then that he finally noticed Mitsu. It seemed she had somehow gotten herself into a battle, and though he recognized the Grovyle that had been sent out by the larger man, he had no idea what Pokemon Mitsu had out. It certainly looks tough, he thought, giving a genuine smile and a wave back. He didn't know why but he felt like he had some sort of obligation towards the purple-haired girl, probably because she'd healed that nasty burn he'd sustained so long ago. But then again, the flames that had caused it came from her Houndoom, so it was more like they were even now. It was strange and Keegan couldn't explain it.

"Ready for this?" he asked, gently putting his arms around Riza in order to help steady her. Needless to say it was quite awkward, and he couldn't help but breathe in the sweet scent of her hair - she smelled quite good, in fact. Okay, smelling people is creepy, Keegan, stop being creepy, he told himself before giving the go-ahead to Alvero. The Skarmory seemed to know exactly what to do and after a bit of a running start was heading up into the air, carrying both humans rather effortlessly with a few flaps of his strong wings. He couldn't help but feel a bit elated at the fact that he now had the freedom to fly wherever he wanted to go. Grinning wolfishly he leaned in closer to Riza. "Told you so," he whispered smugly.
