Luther quickly formed a shield around Cosette and took the brunt of the blast. Parts of his skin were singed but otherwise he was fine, his eyes glinting as he grinned, the wounds beginning to burn. "I'm going to have to put this little gathering on hold" He grunted, holding the wound on his arm. He focused on the shadows around him, and the shadows formed a circle on the ground around Luther. "Cosette, if you wish to accompany me you may want to grab my hand." He closed his eyes, and grinned, "I better even the odds for you, Hunter, do me a favor and aim for the Face." He said, clearly referring to Alasdair.

“Boldness?” Cosette muttered rather loudly in disagreement with both Alasdair and Hideyo's opinions of the daring Hunter. “More like an idiot. He's got some fancy bullets and Ooo...He thinks he's some hot stuff and all...” Her voiced trailed off into an incoherent mumble when there was that sudden explosion of UV light. “Luther..” Cosette mouthed his name, the melody of her honey voice barely audible as she raised an arm to shield her delicate blue eyes from the excess of light . At the same moment, She ducked behind Luther's figure to make a shield out of him, fully expecting him to protect her from the rays. If worst came to worst, Cosette figured she could out run the rays and jump off the roof; but that would take too much effort and she'd probably end up getting dirty when she landed, rather clumsily on the ground below. But, As expected Luther came through and made one of those fancy shadow barriers and blissfully blocked out the light from harming her. There wasn't the slightest hint of hesitation when she heard Luther's suggestion and promptly intertwined her small fingers around his.

Alasdair

Alasdair sighed as he saw the hunter step back and speak. He could hear the nervousness and the dear in the hunter’s voice. It was quite typical that the mere human felt the chill running down his spine at the overwhelming odds that he was facing. Even one vampire was probably a handful for a hunter. But no matter, they always managed to do a crazy stunt that saved their hides. Alasdair was well aware that mortals, when faced with overwhelming odds, fall back on their greatest weakness and strength: hope.

He could already see it before it happened. The hunter was going to throw a UV grenade with his grenade launcher, hoping that the blast would catch the vampires off guard. Then if the blast does not kill them all, it would weaken them. Then he could finish the immortals off with the gun he was still carrying, Alasdair guessed that there where at least nine bullets left in the barrel; more than enough for a point blank shot on the head.

But Alasdair was not going to fall for that. He did not plan to die after well over five centuries. So as soon as the Hunter gripped his grenade launcher the vampire grinned and vanished into the void. He planned it to happened the second before the grenade exploded, not giving away his intention. But Alasdair vanished and reappeared on the fire escape. The void recreated him on the fire escape, on the side of the building so that he was completely safe from the UV blast.

Foolish hunter, the vampire did not have the particular intention of ripping him to shreds but he had interrupted the little gathering. So while Alasdair waited for the UV blast to pass, he took his dessert eagle from his back holster. He quickly checked the magazine, UV bullets. Even they can kill humans.

As soon as the light vanished, Alasdair appeared on the top to the ladder and behind the hunter. “You wasted your only chance of surviving…Unless Luther wants to fight you, then I think you could easily win.” Alasdair chuckled lightly as his violet eyes quickly glanced over the rooftop, but quickly landing back at the hunter.

"That's a weird way to celebrate a year. Well, have fun burying yourself." Prometheus said questioningly. ((Is that how you say it? It's a weird word...)) He lept up to the top of the roof and noticed the Hunter fighting Vampires. "Reminds me of, well, me!" Prometheus said, remembering the fights he took place in. "Us hunters...... always being outnumbered and what not. I might as well take a closer look to see if I can back into the hunting 'mood' again." Prometheus changed back into his armored human form, and jumped onto that rooftop, not caring wheter to be seen.

Hideyo smirked at the desperate hunter's display and while she did believe he was brave for coming to confront them, she also agreed with Cosette that he was very foolish. That was one thing that lycans in Japan had done well, they stuck together and attacked any vampires that happened to be alone and on their own. Of course, at first vampires likely didn't have such psychic and powerful abilities but as time went on they adapted to the lycan's sheer numbers and brute force by developing in speed as well as in ability. That was simply how she believed it'd happened since there didn't seem to be any records of a vampire reading minds or having super human strength until recent records. They'd just been damned difficult for humans to kill so they'd managed to survive quite easily since most humans couldn't dream of physically out-besting them unless they'd had years of training.

When the UV grenade was launched, the blinding light wasn't the only reason that it was impossible to see Hideyo. She'd been sitting on the edge of the rooftop so it'd been all too simple to merely slide herself off of the roof to avoid any injury from UV rays or the hunter's small artillery alike before he'd even decided to launch it. While most would have crushed their legs and more landing such a fall on their feet and absorbing all the shock into their legs, Hideyo only felt the slight vibration that reverbrated through her body momentarily. She could feel her skeletal structure humming from the force of the drop and since her seemingly delicate was in truth, harder than the pavement itself, she'd actually broken the ground she'd landed on as opposed to vice versa. Of course, her rather large boom had been covered by the boom of the grenade so all was good and there'd been no on-lookers so she was in the good.

She rose from her crouched position, brushed herself off the slightest and fluidly stepped out of the hole as though she hadn't been the cause of it and hadn't even bothered to take notice of it. Hideyo then proceeded around the side of the building, looking upwards every so often in case the hunter got the brilliant idea of attacking her from above. He definitely didn't seem to be afraid that the authorities would come to punish him for his absolutely rancid public display of explosives but it seemed that all the beings within New York had lost their sense of subtlety. It was only a matter of time before they'd somehow be found out for one person making too rash an act and then all hell would break loose. If it managed to break loose while the coven was hanging together by nearly torn and heavily tattered threads with no leadership or authority, she wasn't so certain the coven would remain together if such a disaster befell them.

Once she finally made her way to the other side of the building, she spotted Alasdair on the fire escape and he was apparently going to confront the hunter yet again. It was unfortunate that she wasn't particularly thirsty at the moment, otherwise she might be a little less forgiving of the hunter's rash actions. However, she could always kill him and preserve his blood for later but she'd never liked the concept of storing blood. It was a rather putrid substance if it happened to go bad and blood certainly tasted better fresh as opposed to it being poured into a wine glass from a wine bottle. One expected the taste of wine from such a thing and the blood just didn't suit the situation at all in her opinon. However, she'd known many that chose to preserve others' blood in a wine bottle to bring out at their respective meal times to sip on. It was somewhat repulsive to her but they were free to do as they so pleased since she wasn't going to stop them.

Amelia watched with her night vision.
"Fighting." She sighed and leapt down, landing gracefully in a crouch in the alley. "I wonder what's fun." She put her cap on, hiding her ears, and walked out amoungst the humans.

Prometheus sat on one of the power boxes there, watching the "brave" hunter. "One Hunter, vs. 4 Vampires.... how original." He said, beginning a clap. "Try me, 3 Vampires, 2 Lycans, and a Hunter with an army of elite knights in a giant brawlfest. Now THAT is competition." He enjoyed watching fights, but not as much as ending them or being in them.

Stan took the time the grenade had granted him well, multi-tasking as he loaded the M79 with a forty millimeter buckshot round. It was difficult though seeing as the round was big and he was already holding his Glock in his hand. The Vampires were impressive, most of them at least, one in particular made it a point to be a hypocritical, whiny thing whilst using everyone else as a shield. He smiled, pleased with the thought of tying Cosette to a dentistry chair and slowly pulling out every tooth in her mouth, whilst injecting her with an IV filled with UV liquid. It sent even more shivers down his spine, shaking away the disgusting thoughts of sadism. Even on a vampire, who deserved it, torture was... well icky.

Meanwhile, as the light faded from the special grenade, and all the Vampires came back up feeling very clever and superior... The grenade blew up a second time. It gave out a second beam of light as the tandem-charged grenade did as it was supposed to, barely a sound emitting from the grenade seeing as explosives weren't needed for light emissions. (I.E. the light bulb.) Out of the entire attack; this was the part that Stan awaited. The effectiveness of the second explosion (i.e. tricking the vampires) was on top of his priority list. They all seemed to have put their guard down after the first charge, so things were definitely looking good.

Stan crouched down and moved the Glock 37 under his opposite hand's armpit, the gun's lone ominous eye pointed straight at Alasdair, as the "brave" hunter double-tapped the trigger. Two more "faster than sound" bullets soared out of the relatively suppressed weapon. Two deafening pop sounds followed the rounds departure a second or so after the rounds themselves exited the barrel. At this range: Does Alasdair feel lucky, punk?!

After the shots, Stan began to sprint forwards towards the opposite side of the building.... s**t, there wasn't a human made exit on that side.

There was one of the customarily violent little twitches of her small figure whenever Cosette heard something she didn't quite like, especially when it pertained to her. Those sadistic and not-so-friendly thoughts pouring from the not-so-brave and idiotic hunter defiantly were not to her fancy. Why was everyone picking on her? The weakest of the bunch, Did it just make them feel all the more powerful to single her out? It certainly didn't make her feel better about her 'downfalls'. Sure, They could all laugh. Make a joke out of poor weak little Cosette, But the moment she had the power she rightfully deserved, Cosette was going to show them all. That was exactly what she attempted to to now as she spotted the hunter making a mad dash to the other side of the roof. Although, Where exactly he though he was going, She had no idea but it was the perfect opportunity.
With one arm still shielding her eyes from too much light, she pried her fingers from Luther's hold and raised her hand in the general direction of the Hunter. Although she remained comfortably within the safe confines of Luther's wonderful shield, It was still basically a blind movement because of all that harsh dreadful light. Cosette relied on her much developed delicate hearing to judge just where his footsteps fell when she forced her her psyche to concentrate on the area surrounding Stan.

If she succeeded, The hunter would run right into it and find himself entrapped within the confines of an invisible box, projected by the empowered strength of her telekinesis. It would be much like the same trick she had earlier tested upon Luther, But Cosette was much more generous with the space allowed within the cage. For as long she would be able to contain it, It might also withhold any further bombs of light and dangerous bullets. Despite how sure she was of her abilities, On the off chance she hadn't succeeded and missed her her target completely; Cosette was going to be one very upset little blond who intended to swiftly throw another surge of entrapping kinetic energy should she have failed. Just as long as she could managed to trap the Hunter somehow, She was going to earn the hand of control over the entire situation. Caging Stan would place an unseen barrier from both allowing him to escape or allowing anyone else from entering. Cosette would essentially decide the fate and Oh, How she would so very much enjoy that.

Jack watched the battle from a small distance, waiting on a branch, curious as to what was going on. He knew someone was angry, and that things were going to get ugly if they didn't cool down. He was a Hunter and a Guardian, and he felt that it was best if he stood in and tried to prevent someone from getting hurt... if it hadn't happened already. He checked his revolver and the sawed off shotgun he held under his coat... it was all fully loaded. A grin grew on his face... at least he'd be prepared.

He soon found himself jumping off of it, walking towards the group with a calm demeanor. He was in one of his better moods. Had he NOT been in a good mood... well, JR would have been in control... and some knew that he would have preferred the violent approach. Jack sighed quietly as he looked around. He could spot the hunter... one that he heard about. He sighed quietly as he shook his head.

"Hey! What the hell is going on?" Jack said firmly.

If the event was warranted, he wasn't going to let it go on. If it was... he would have had to participate for the safety of others.

Sam opens his eyes and stands back up. He can hear fighting nearby, but doesn't feel like bothering with it. "Probably get interrupted anyway." he murmurs to himself. He looks out at the humans walking by and sighs. He wanders back into the crowd and then leaves the city.

Bridget was taking a shower thinking that it had taken her only 2 months to get almost all her network up or replaced and running well. In the meantime she had honed her skill taking out lone vamps and lycans maybe sometimes two at a time..
Tonite would be no better as she planned to continue her recon of the city and find out who the heavy hitters were. As she turned off the water to the shower and started to dry herself Bridget figured it would be another month at least before she could start full operations and then there would be hell to pay.
She got dressed to do some serious partying and then met the taxi she had paged earlier and headed to Las Noches

Alasdair

PostPosted: Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:00 pm

Such a dreadful bomb that the hunter had brought with him. Alasdair had no idea that the simple UV grenade had a delayed secondary attack. How troublesome, because the vampire was not prepared for another UV blast, especially one that was so sudden. But Alasdair was not out of tricks, he would not have survived for so long if he would die by a tricky grenade.

Alasdair saw a slight flicker in the grenade the instant before it turned back on like a silent UV light bulb. How truly troublesome indeed, a few options flashed into his mind before the actual light tore through the newly reacquired darkness. He could jump of the building, land on the street below and simply jump back on the other side; it was simple but a bit boring. The other one was to make a mad jump back into the safety of the fire escape, it was a good plan but it would be awfully tight in time and there was the chance that he might get his hands burned by the UV spatter on his chest. There was also the option of jumping off the ledge and holding on to the rim of the rooftop, the problem with that would end up being his severely burned hand.

Then before he made up his mind on what to do, the light began to burn through the night. Alasdair’s violet eyes quickly scanned the ever brightening ground and saw the shadow of the hunter before him. It was a good thing that Alasdair had walked out of the fire escape behind the brave hunter. So the void, out of instinct, used the shadow of the hunter to create a barrier in front of Alasdair.

It was a simple barrier in front of the vampire, and since it was just a barrier to block out the bright light, the void concentrated itself and made the darkest shield possible. The darker the black of the void, the weaker it was to the physical attacks. If anyone saw his clear shield, then it was the perfect defense because the void had crystallized the darkness and had made it harder than diamonds. But the barrier now was created to block out the light completely from his front.

Alasdair was blind to the two bullets that Stan fired at him. But the vampire did know about them as soon as they passed through the barrier and darted towards Alasdair. They were too close for him to dodge them by moving his torso; there was no way that he could make a new barrier while he was still shielding from the light. There was the bulletproof coat he always wore, since he bought it to an old Japanese merchant. But Alasdair never relayed on its impenetrability too much, this was going to be the real test of it. Two point blank UV shots to his chest.

As soon as the two bullets penetrated his shield and Alasdair sensed the two bullets, he grinned and stood firm. He took the two shots to the UV covered chest, and to his mild surprise he felt the two bullets clash against the coat. He felt the slight vibration when the two bullets impacted, but they did not pierce the coat, only a blade could cut it.

So after the two bullets Alasdair waited behind the barrier a few more seconds, then when he was sure that there was no third blast he took down the barrier. When he took down the barrier he saw the hunter running to the other side of the rooftop. Alasdair grinned and took a few steps towards the hunter’s direction.

Amelia walked past shops and little late night cafe's. She spotted a night club. "I wonder what that is." Her stubborn curious side took over and she went in.

Things were looking good. Definitely, Stan thought as he ran along as fast as his mortal limbs would allow him. Other such thoughts raced through his mind, they were along the lines of: "I am the best around.. nothing ever going to keep me down" and "The Finaaaaal Countdown" which was just a foreshadow to his plans of rappelling down the building and the cheesy 80s song being the only thing that could possibly begin to accompany such a feat. Basically, Stan had his head up his a** and that was just about around the time that he smacked his face on some invisible wall, falling back.

His hand instinctively went to his nose which burst into a river of blood. Possibly the best thing he could ever do at the mercy of angry vampires he had just attempted to kill. Despite the pain in his nose along with his newly acquired headache; Stan stood up right and frantically went back the way he came, and fell into the same trap as before, retreating back a few steps rather than hitting the floor.

I'm trapped, dumb a**. He clenched the weapons tightly as he mentally reprimanded himself for being an idiot. The now truly foolish Hunter started pacing around. "Sweet Jesus! What is this crap?"
