Arlen staggered back towards Lily, the remaining flames receding into his body.
"It's not over," Crystal choked out, pulling her hand away to point towards the sky. "I'll wipe all of you off of the planet!" she proclaimed as what looked like a far away star began approaching at an alarming rate. Her insane laughter interrupted only by coughing more blood, Crystal staggered back some more before falling to the ground.
Arlen gazed up at the sky with terror and recognition. "I'm sorry Lily," he said softly, looking directly into her eyes for the first time that evening. "I'm truly sorry."

"Arlen... what..." Lily whispered, reaching out to him, confused and afraid. "What's going on. Please... I don't understand. Tell me what's going on... why are you sorry?"

"Un godly." River spat at the window glaring at it just the feeling she got was bad. Holding onto Kaden tightly she sighed. " I've been meaning to ask you." She said softly to Kaden looking at him as he sat back into her lap. "Yeah?" He questioned with a smile on his face.
"What do you think...Of a little brother?" She asked glancing around the room once over before looking back at him. He held a thoughtful expression on his face before smiling up at her. "I've not a problem with it!" Kaden expressed happily to her. "Good them." River said chuckling at him as he squermed around in her lap.
"so? when?"
"Tomorrow or so, I will be coming home with someone from the recollection center, or like how I found you. You remember?" River asked with a smile to him. He just nodded up at her and looked across the room once. " I wonder who It'll be!" He giggled softly and leaned against River in a tired way.

"I won't be coming back," Arlen said painfully, giving Lily one final kiss before stepping away from her. Carefully he oriented himself and activated the Verdant Harness once more propelling himself up towards the falling comet.

"No." Lily whispered, eyes wide as she watched him go, heart lurching painfully in her chest. "ARLEN!" she cried, sounding completely anguished, falling to her knees. He couldn't mean that... he just couldn't...

Arlen shed tears as well as he sped towards the giant ball of ice. He met it as he had the wall before but grunted as the giant orb took no damage. Growling he began to pour everything he had into burning away at the sphere, but his flames had only minor effect.

Maybe... maybe if she helped him, he wouldn't die. That desperate thought the only one running through her head, she gripped the crystal vial around her neck, able to feel the fire inside it, feel it's connection to him. Drop by drop, she fed him what little strength she had, hoping against hope that it would be enough.

Arlen could feel energy pouring into him and somehow he knew it was from Lily, but this ice seemed impervious to what he was doing and time was running out. Knowing he had nothing to lose, Arlen pulled himself inward and beckoned to the fifth and final flame. The one that had secretly terrified him every time he would gaze upon it. The fire underneath his hand turned black as the Sable Blaze began to slowly devour the comet. As the black fire ate away at the giant snowball, Arlen felt unbound amounts of energy pour into him. His body was immolated in the White Flame, his eyes shined bright with the Azure Glare, the Crimson Blaze burned fiercely to keep Arlen warm and the new flame in check as the Verdant Flame formed wings behind his back independent of the harness.

Lily looked up in awe at him, eyes wide. She hadn't been able to help, but... surely... with all that power, he would be fine. "Come on Arlen... please don't leave me..." she whispered quietly. "Please make it out of this..."

The flames grew and churned together as the Sable Blaze slowly encompassed all of the comet. Finally the flames had built into the shape of a giant bird made of swirling red and white flames, blazing blue eyes, and five peacock like tail feathers each one had an eye made of one of the five flames that comprised the whole. The wings and head folded around the now black sphere as if to protect it from the world and the world from it at the same time. Shortly after the sphere collapsed in on itself with a brilliant flash that lit the sky. As the flash dissipated there was no sign of the sphere or the bird or Arlen. With a dull thud the Harness of the Emerald Flame struck the ground several yards away from Lily.

For a moment, Lily only watched the harness, as if she expected Arlen to spring from it. When he didn't, she crawled forward, touching it carefully. "N..." she whispered, then repeated the word over and over, ears completely limp, body trembling. He couldn't be gone... he just couldn't. Sobbing again, she curled around the harness, lying on the ground, trying to convince herself that he wasn't dead, and failing miserably.

River was up and out the front door the moment the Flash was present, she blinked looking around, "The hell is going on out here?" She asked having left the sleeping kaden to come outside. It was a strange site indeed she was glad the flash didn't blind her. Gazing over Lily she blinked then gulped, this wasn't good. "...Hey.." River said slowly taking very slow steps over this strange slickness the ground had taken hold of.

Slowly but surely, the emerald flame faded from the necklace around Lily's neck.
Meanwhile, over in the mountains, Guan watched what he could see of the brilliant show with a weird sense of morbid pride. He was begrieved that Arlen was gone, but the boy had done what no one before him had. He had manifested all five of the flames at the same time.

"Arlen..." Lily choked out, cradling the harness as if it were the most important thing in the world. "He's gone... he... he... he's dead..." she keened quietly, eyes squeezed tightly shut as she sobbed, then, rather suddenly, became completely overwhelmed and fell unconscious, hand still bleeding sluggishly, harness still grasped tightly in her arms.
