Had Gwyn really become this in tune with the world around her? She could feel the ground beneath her move ever so slightly as Tarou lowered himself to the ground and up again. There was no mistaking that he was real after all. His handshake had more than proven that little fact. Something about him seemed spew confidence so strong that is was palatable, but at the same time there was a sense of unsettling around her. She couldn't tell if it was coming from him or some other student, but it sent shivers running up her spine. Perhaps it wasn't even a person at all. The bleak grey sky and misty air always held mystery and uncertainty. Maybe it was this that made Tarou seem so grand and self confident. These feelings slipped away as her thoughts where filled with more words, not her own.

"I’m really bad at making friends, you know?" Oh she knew all to well. How many kids want to be friends with a girl that can't even process the world around her? A girl that couldn't find a dog not even ten feet in front of her. Who couldn't learn names or words until she figured them out in her own weird little way. No one, thats who. Perhaps that is why this boy had made her so detersive earlier. She knew the Yubie was not a well known clan outside of Iwa, and most people claimed they weren't even human due to how they functioned. "Not that they were mean or anything. It’s actually the villagers that were mean.” It always is isn't it. Always those who never truly experienced life, yet feel they have the right to cast judgment upon other, children at that. She knew all to well that feeling, the feeling of unjust judgment of those who had no right.

“Since you were alone and I was alone, I thought we could do things together. I can help you with the hand seals, since I’ve already finished them.”

"Oh God the handseals." Gwyn gasped as she searched the ground thoroughly with her hands. She had almost completely forgotten why she had sat down in the first place. This was no way to start ones climb to the top. If one wanted to be the best one would have to focus on nothing but perfection. But here she was being distracted by someone who was just curious at best. How could she have let herself fall so far behind. She sensed him make a motion towards the book and her hand deftly shot out and took hold of it, nimbly flipping to the handseal basic page. Gwyn scoured the page hoping for another flash but nothing.

"I feel I am at a major disadvantage in this task." Gwyn whispered to herself. They boy had offered his help, but why would she take it? It was a task she could do on her own, Gwyn slowly formed the handseal for bird once more, she knew that much. She could do it on her own, as she had done all her life. Pass and fail on her own. She than weighed the other option. She would one day perhaps be teamed with this boy, perhaps it was better to succeed as two, then fail as one.

"Very well then... Succeed as two." Gwyn shut the book softly placing it in her lap. She ran her fingers over the binding, perhaps just holding the book would bring another flash, until than she would accept Tarou's help. "Sense you are helping me, I shall help you... I can sense your push-up form is.... Less than ideal."

Tenshi attempted to do it once again, however he kept seeming to lose his grasp on what he was doing. Now frustrated with getting no where, he crossed his arms and looked outside at those in his class. They were already on the next step of the training, and outside. He wanted to at least get a grasp of how to work his chakra before showing his face out there with the other students. He wished he hadn't missed school, but it was inevitable. He had to stay in the compound, and the Mistress wouldn't let them out any sooner. He wanted so bad to be able to fly through everything fast like a breeze in the wind, but of course, life was full of surprises. He decided to take a break outside until he felt better to try it again.

It was hard to tell what the girl was feeling; it wasn’t just the fact that her face remained mostly passive, but because her eyes were hard to read. Though Tarou was usually not a good reader of emotions, his attempts were made that much harder because of her eye colour: black. There really was nothing to look into, because they were sort of like holes, except there was a silver ring in the hole

As soon as Tarou mentioned the hand seals, he felt that something was odd. The girl scrambled for the booklet but seemingly could not find it. Unfortunately, Tarou was by no means an expert at observation or even intelligence. The simple oddness was overlooked, Tarou preferring to focus on the bigger picture. ‘Did she really forget about the whole assignment?’ He thought absent-mindedly; it wasn’t a huge deal to him, but he found it amusing that she was so anti-social, but somewhat aloof.

Hearing the girl admit that she was having difficulties with the hand seals, (Tarou might’ve been insulted if she wasn’t) he looked down to perform one more push up, which surprisingly came easy to him. Human interaction was kind of nice, he thought. Even if they weren't friends just yet, it helped him get things done faster. Smiling to himself he got off of the slightly muddy ground, opting to sit right next to the girl. He craned his neck to the side so he could see the booklet better, before realizing that he had his own. He didn’t know where exactly he put it, and the mist made it hard to see. He would just have to sit with Gwyn and share the booklet with her; a task he didn’t quite mind, but couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous about. He watched as she formed the bird hand seal and imitated her, grinning at the simple fact that he could do it. It was a good sign, that he hadn’t forgotten the hand seals … Yet.

"Very well then... Succeed as two. Since you are helping me, I shall help you... I can sense your push-up form is.... Less than ideal."

There was that strange thing, once again. Narrowing his eyes as if it would help him understand better, he observed her actions. This was the second time Gwyn had stroked or touched the booklet. A part of him told him, that people had their own reasons for doing certain things, (in this case, stroking a booklet) and it was probably nothing. However, the second part of him told him that there was something strange here. It took him awhile to pinpoint the problem, the comment about his posture going right over his head. Was the girl… unable to see?

“Ummmm…” He started hesitantly. It was almost unbelievable. She had functioned so well with the environment around her; he could barely tell that she was blind, but the signs were there: the fact that she wasn’t looking him in the eyes, and had trouble finding the booklet that was right in front of her. It was sort of strange, but he could only come to the conclusion that she couldn't see. Realizing that he had just trailed off without saying anything, he blurted it out. “Are you blind?”

Tarou winced. That was probably the rudest way he could’ve said it, and he struggled to find the words. “I-I mean. You seem to function perfectly well… I didn’t even notice until now.” He added, hoping that it would make her feel better, if she was a bit unnerved by his question. “Is that why you’re having more difficulty with the hand seals?” He asked almost quietly.

Tenshi had decided to walk outside where the others were training. He sat down in the grass, legs crossed and hands crossing each other in his lap. He fixed his kimono so it was encircling him without a crease. Perhaps I will learn from their mistakes... at least I hope to. He noticed the boy doing push-ups and the girl was working on her hand-seals. Great... hand-seals.... can't wait for the next exercise... he said with a sarcastic tone in his mind. He enjoyed learning, however the long, drawn out process of it he could live without. He began playing around with his gauntlets, making quiet pings and tings to himself.

Gwyn sat there calmly her hand resting softly on the moist page. The cold mist was biting at her fingers. She could feel the boy locking eyes with her again, searching for something. It was if he was trying to read her like a book. Looking for a page that would betray her to him. He was trying to figure her out, and was not doing a very good job at it. Perhaps he had never seen a Kekie Genkie. Here in Kiri her's would be even more rare, so could she really blame him for taking interest? If it began to irritate her to much she would make perfectly clear how she felt about the matter. Gwyn wasn't afraid to speak her mind bluntly.

Gwyn felt the cold water begin to seep through all of her layers of clothing, and she almost immediately began to feel very stupid for sitting down on the wet grass, but she was at that point where she didn't care anymore. The mist had stopped being cold and began once again just being there. Everything about her environment stopped existing for a brief moment. As if everything had just... Vanished. Gwyn thought for a moment that she was about to just know one of the seals again, but as the world faded back into her senses she was left with nothing new. But something lingered in the back of her mind. She could feel it, the next seal. But as she raised her hands poised to make it, nothing came. Like a long forgotten word at the tip of the tongue. It was there, she knew it was there, but she couldn't for the life of her connect with it.

“Ummmm…Are you blind?”

Is that what he had been so long looking for? It wasn't a stupid question, but it showed how unobservant he was... No, maybe she was being to harsh on him. After all she could see how he could find that unusual, or even unbelievable. She was, after all, able to walk without incident with no need of help, could recognize people's location without frame of reference. Hell she could even have told anyone who asked what the surrounding area looked like. Not because she could see it, but because she knew what was there. No not a stupid question at all.

“I-I mean. You seem to function perfectly well… I didn’t even notice until now....Is that why you’re having more difficulty with the hand seals?”

Gwyn almost laughed at the boy. It was quite the oxymoron he had just said. "I function perfectly well... Yet I am having more difficulty... An interesting thought." For the first time sense Gwyn had sat down a small smile, a very small smile, sat on her face. "We were cursed, long ago by the Monkey God, Seera." Gwyn opened her eyes, turning her head to face Tarou, making eye contact, "He took from us our hearing, and our sight, so that our blood may be protected. He took so that he could give. A sixth sense was his gift. Eternal silence and darkness was his price." Gwyn closed her eyes and lowered her head down to the book to feign reading, "I would appreciate you act as if I was not." The young Yubie's ever so small smile was gone, "And that was much better, if you keep doing them like that you will make much more progress." she spoke softly, mentioning his push-up.

Gwyn traced over the paged time and time again, look for some semblance of an answer. She was so close, she could feel it in the back of her mind, but she had no way of bringing it into full detail. She reached and reached for it but it seemed every time she felt herself getting closer, she could feel the answer slipping away. After what felt like an eternity of this she tried the exact opposite method. She tried to no pay attention to it, to just let it sit their and find its own way to the forefront of her mind. Sadly that worked equally as well. For it sat at the outlaying border between known and unknown. Taunting her with its knowledge. It was one of the 11 keys still needed to unlock her potential, but she had no way of obtaining it.

Why was this happening. Naturally it was by nature and instinct that a Yubie lived, they didn't not know things. They knew things even when all reasonable sense should prove that the things they knew they shouldn't know. So how was it that one little image, the idea of one simple seal, was escaping her so easily.

Gwyn closed her eyes and began breathing deeply, but softly. She attempted to connect to the world around her, as if it would somehow give her all the answers she was looking for. She felt each pin head drop of water in the air around her. She felt the damp ground on her feet. Each blade of grass as it was crushed under even Gwyn's light weight. Nothing came. Nothing but darkness and the ring of silence. It was in this silence Gwyn began to drift into memory.

The thought of home filled Gwyn's mind. Her parents, her pets, all of her loved ones. So long had Gwyn felt so separated from everything around her. As if the world in its entirety was working against her, keeping her apart, leaving her on the back shelf to be forgotten to the dust of time. Here in this state did she think of something. Even if she was alone. She was to be a Shinobi, a life of solitude would one day be inevitable. Sure she would have her teacher and her squad, but after that time she would only have herself.

Suddenly it hit her, a flash of knowledge, the information she had been searching for just surged into being. The thing so long sitting at the brink of her knowledge was the handseal for Boar. It seemed so simple to her now. Gwyn lifted her hands, pressing her palms together. She then rotated her hands down, bending each finger and the first knuckle and the thumbs. As her hand fell in to this position Gwyn felt another slight surge of power. Another lock had been opened, and her potential surged through her once more. So soon would she have all the tools needed to access her chakra whenever she needed. She would no longer feel helpless, afraid of the world. Instead she would feel power, and begin her climb to greatness. Now that Gwyn thought about it, what did she want to do? What were her goals.

She had never set any before going off on this silly little adventure. She had sought greatness with no reason to be great. Was it to prove it to herself? What was there to prove? She herself already knew the great things that she could do. Obstacles that someone like her should have never been able to overcome had already come, been destroyed, and gone. What did she want to do with all the power she would soon gain? She had no one to protect, no one to fight for, besides herself... Not that Gwyn thought about it she had always been alone in that regard too. Perhaps that is why she needed this power? To find someone who needed her? Balls to it, I can figure out a use for my power once I have it. Gwyn laughed to herself quickly forming the bird and boar handseals in quick succession, ensuring that they remained in her muscle memory.

When Gwyn was confident enough that she would not forget the handseals her fingers once again fidgeted with the pages of the book, though she was unsure why she bothered hanging on to it. After all it's not like it was doing any good for her other than acting as a substance of distraction. Then again how could she have not known the handseals before, and then as soon as she received the book begin having her mind flooded with information. That couldn't be purely coincidence could it? That is when it hit Gwyn, that this Academy would teach her much more than just the basics of becoming great. It would teach her about herself, and self reflection. Through this school she would answer many question, and raise even more. Perhaps here is where she would be able to pull herself out of isolation from the world, to connect not only to nature, but to people. She had already talked to more people in her brief few moments here than she had in her entire life put together. Yes, this Academy would be exactly what Gwyn needed.

Tenshi looked at the girl, vigorously flipping through the pages of a book and performing a handseal. His mind flashed back to his years before the Water Mistress's reign, when he was still in the academy. Still wearing the gauntlets and a similar get-up to what he was wearing now, he sat down in a desk next to some old peers. They had just finished learning about chakra and its uses. The sensei wrote on the board the next subject they were going to go through: Handseals-Basics. Too bad all the dreadful things had to happen the way they did.

Tenshi shook his head, That is no way to think. What happened, happened... there is no way to change it and it made you the way you are now. As long as you are stronger from it and realize who you are, then you no longer need to worry about it.

Gwyn looked nice with a smile on her face, no matter how small the smile was. Grinning back at her he said nothing back. He didn’t really understand what she meant by monkey gods. aLl he could really think of was the hand seal for the monkey. And how did the god even take away all their sensed before they were born? It was most likely some sort of legend or story to go with the clan’s bloodline, and he didn’t say anything to contradict it. Why burst somebody’s bubble? He could be wrong, after all.

He layed down on the ground next to her, ready to do more push ups. As soon as he started to go down, he sort of gave up and let himself slump onto the ground. He was getting impatient and at the same time, kind of excited. Gwyn was the first `kid`that he had interacted with, and it was going really well! Maybe she could teach him more about postures, or something.

Tarou felt more at ease around Gwyn now. Even though she seemed quite stoic and unfeeling, she had smiled. Although that wasn’t really something that told him of her whole personality, she seemed like a good person. Most of all, she looked sort of lonely sitting there, even if Tarou was sitting right next to her. With his brain running at two hundred miles per hour on meaningless thoughts, he almost forgot to reply to what she had said to him. It seemed as if Tarou ‘s brain was already pretty slow in working, even though he was quite young. He didn’t want to be an old man already, at the ripe age of ten.

Tarou tried a shot at being funny, something that his parents and his younger brother seemed to like when they were feeling a bit down. “Well…” He trailed, letting a smile creep into his voice. “I’ll treat you as if you aren’t blind, when you get good enough that I can’t tell.” He said almost smugly, but making it so it was hopefully obvious that he was just kidding. It had some sort of truth in it, however. Tarou didn’t really like to do things for other people, especially acting or pretending. Gwyn was blind, and that was the facts. He wouldn’t just stand there and pretend as if she weren’t blind, but he wouldn’t treat her like a cripple either. He simply thought that the easiest solution was for her to become so good at sensing, that no one could tell. It was reasonable, right? He started to somewhat fret, but decided to not worry about it too much.

Looking down at her hands to see that she had just succeeded in the boar hand seal, he smiled. “Oh, I’ll help you. Sorry.” He added the last part in; it wouldn’t do for him to tell them that he would aid them, only to get caught up in useless talking. “So for the dog..” He trailed, trying to see how he could explain it. This one was quite easy, to his relief. “So make your right hand into a fist and just hold it out in front of you, keeping your wrist straight.” He also did the actions as he instructed; he didn’t really get how much she could ‘see’, but if it helped, it would be good. “Now get your left hand and hold it open… But not too wide open; keep your fingers together and straight. Now put your open palmed hand, which is your left, over your right hand.” He hoped that that was somewhat easy to understand and watched her curiously, to see if she could get it right.

Tenshi had noticed her success in the handseal and thought about giving his task another go. He had only managed to successfully dive into his chakra pool once and mold it into his hands. He concentrated hard, but he couldn't feel anything. All he could concentrate on was the outdoors and all the commotion going on. He lost his concentration and started becoming agitated with the exercise. Often times in his past he would blame the gauntlets for his failures, but he learned to grow up and take responsibility for his actions. That's what his clan did. Although, their actions had much more an impact on their lives.

He placed a finger in the dirt and began drawing lines, which turned into snowflakes. He had a fascination for them, the different sizes, the different shapes. If he could collect snow flakes he would, but until then, he enjoyed watching the snow fall. He focused back on reality and noticed a few snowflakes drawn in the dirt. "Oops," he said as he tried putting the ground 'back to normal,' not that it mattered... it was only dirt.

Gwyn could sense Tarou had finally gotten over himself. He seemed almost like a different person, just from the few moments she had known him. He had shifted from a boy unsure what to think to a boy thinking almost to much. He lay there again next to her prepping to do a push-up, but something within him seemed to have given up. Something about Tarou seemed aloof and drifty. Like his thoughts came so fast that he had to backpeddle to find what he was looking for. Perhaps he was exited about something, and it was just easy for him to lose focus. Gwyn couldn't quite pick it out but something about Tarou reminded him of herself, and she enjoyed that feeling. Because he was different enough to avoid the feeling of being alone, but he was the same enough to bring a sense of familiarity.

“Well… I’ll treat you as if you aren’t blind, when you get good enough that I can’t tell.”

There it was again. The bluntness, the insensitivity, the truth. It was then that Gwyn realized why she felt so connected to Tarou. It was the way he viewed the world and the people in it. They didn't owe him anything, and he didn't owe them anything. "That was a joke right?" Gwyn asked, once more looking him in the eye. Her face was stern and cold. She attempted to hold this face for as long as she could, but a stray uncontrollable chuckle betrayed her. "Thank you." she didn't say more than that because there was no need to say more than that. She was thankful that he was treating her based off what she was and she was almost more than sure he didn't care.

As they moved on to the hand seal Gwyn attempted to pay as close attention as she could. She attempted to follow his moves as he made them, but for some reason it just wasn't right. She felt no power come from the seal and something about it just felt off. As if everything was backwards and tangled. She felt for the book hoping for some kind of answer, but none was found, she was once more simply left to her devices. So she tried again, once more feeling backwards and tangled, and that was indeed the problem. As she had copied the hand seal she had not taken into account that it would be backwards to the way he was showing her. Word after word bounced off her as if she was a wall, nothing was retained. "I-I don't think I'm doing this correctly." Gwyn admitted, releasing the failed hand seal and once again scouring her book as if it would once more magically implant its knowledge into her mind, "And you give up to easy, you know that. You hardly even tried on your last push-up."

Tenshi tried again, but nothing once more. Maybe he wasn't cut out for chakra molding? That was nonsense, the Fubuki clan is well known for their chakra control. Why else would I be wearing these God forsaken things? Unknowingly he let them fall on his lap a little too hard and hit his shin. "At least if I hit someone hard enough it'll probably break a few bones..." he mumbled under his breath. He placed his chin in a hand and used it to hold his head up. He stood up, cleaning off his kimono. Perhaps a walk to calm the nerves... He began walking around the yard, being sure not to be too far away from everyone.

When Gwyn`s expression turned sharp and cold, Tarou starts to sweat lightly. Was she going to kill him? Yeah, that was pretty insolent of him. However, it was the truth and if he was going to be killed for telling the truth, he was ready. He could take it. He wasn`t scared. Not at all.

That was just it about Tarou. It wasn’t as if he was dishonest. The truth was that he was sort of cowardly. The fact that he knew it himself and could address it was perhaps a good thing. He would never become too cowardly, and he could maybe practice fixing it while he was still young. Thought of the future sometimes haunted him because he often thought of who he would be.

The tension in his body loosened as soon as Gwyn gave a chuckle. Tarou almost didn’t catch it, but when he did, a large grin was also on his face. He was glad that the girl could understand what he meant, even if she couldn’t see. And just like how she didn’t need to say anything more than a thanks, he didn’t need to say anything else either.

He watched as Gwyn struggled to get the hand seals correctly, finding it weird that she couldn’t do so. It was actually stranger, because it looked perfect to him. There was something obviously off about it, and it wasn’t long until he realized it himself. It must’ve been somewhat confusing, because he was lying down across from her. Pictures were usually mirror images, and it was hard to do it correctly; Tarou knew that himself.

“I think you’ve got your hands all wrong.” He said, unsure as of how to put it so it could be understood. “When there’s a mirror, your right hand usually appears to be your reflection’s left…” He trailed off. Wait, Gwyn couldn’t see. He was also doubtful that she could even sense reflections; they were just reflections of light. “Anyways, try to do the same thing… But do what you do for your left hand, on your right hand. And vice versa.”

Tarou grinned at her sheepishly, being caught red-handed. “Haha, you’re right, I’ll try now, I promise.” Trying to remember how he had his posture earlier, he tried the push up once again, going down slowly on his arms. It hurt quite a bit to do so, and his muscles were protesting in pain. "Are you good at any push ups? Because this hurts." He almost whimpered pathetically, wincing.

Gwyn had an odd feeling when she was with Tarou, it seemed like he understood her, better than most she had met before. Or maybe that wasn't it at all, maybe it was just the fact he was blunt. Either way it was a trait she appreciated in him. It made it easier to talk to someone when you knew they weren't going to lie to your face to protect your feelings.

Gwyn got back to work on her handseals, this dog sign was causing her quite to problem. It seemed no matter how many times she imitated what she had seen Tarou do it didn't work. She walked herself through the first two over and over making sure she wasn't missing something when she went back to dog, but alas nothing came out of it. No feeling of power, no release of tension, nothing! Gwyn was getting more than frustrated with the seal before she felt Tarou speak up again.

Everything was backwards... How had she not thought of, or even tried, that? Gwyn felt her book one last time for reassurance, and once more the knowledge hit her like a brick in the face. How had she been so stupid? She closed and opened her hands a few times before trying once more. Forming her right hand into a first she raised her arm, placing her hand a foot or so from her chest. She then flattened her left hand like a blade and pushed it over the top of her right.

As her hands hit this position she felt another surge of energy. Luck more of her was being opened up, and a spiritual heat began rising from within. With every handseal the cold mist got less and less noticeable, but perhaps that was just her body adjusting. Either was she was now 1/4 of the way done with the lesson. However that did not mean that she could relax. Quite the opposite, now was the time to push harder, and strive to finish. "Grand advice..." Gwyn stated running through the three handseals.

Gwyn just blankly looked off into space as Tarou did another push-up, she could sense he was having difficulty, but it wasn't mental, it was physical. At least he was trying, as he actually completed the last one. "If it hurts you have two options. Stop and rest, or push even harder. One is more time consuming and safer, while the other gets you to the end quicker." Gwyn closed her eyes focusing on how he was doing his push ups to see if there was any advice she could come up with, but in the end she had nothing to critic about his posture, it was fine. "The only advice I can give is not to think about the pain, focus on a singular point of space and block everything else out, that what I would do."

Wow, this was a hassle. Tarou had thought that the push ups would be relatively easy compared to the hand seals. Obviously, he was taking much longer than he did with the hand seals, and the only positive part was that his instructions were helping Gwyn. He almost felt like he could even be a teacher now, but he didn’t want to get too carried away. Although he had the chance to teach Gwyn more about the hand seals, he decided not to; she would probably feel uncomfortable if he was babying her and teaching her through each and every step. Also, Tarou was unfortunately an impatient person by nature, and he’d probably end up doing his own thing if he got too tired of it. So to prevent boredom, he would just pace himself.

“Let me know if you want help. Just be careful about getting the hand seals backwards, and focus on what each finger does, because it’s pretty important.” He said, putting his elbows down on the wet ground as a means of relaxation. He no longer cared about the state of his brand new clothes. He would probably have to wash them, but then again, they were just some old clothes. He sort of rolled onto his back, hoping to see the bright blue sky; it was what he did at Konoha all the time. No matter how hard he tried to not think about it, his thoughts always came back to Konoha. Fortunately his thoughts weren’t sad, only curious. Looking up at the sky, all he saw was white. Instead of being gloomy, it was sort of fascinating for him to look up at the white wispy smoke thing.

"If it hurts you have two options. Stop and rest, or push even harder. One is more time consuming and safer, while the other gets you to the end quicker."

As soon as she said that he slowly rolled over back onto his stomach, getting into position once again. He had forgotten almost all about the push ups, though he had changed positions in the span of half a minute. He was feeling pretty tired and was almost happy just lying there, but decided otherwise. “…I’ll do one more. Then maybe I’ll rest…” He murmured, and then started to go down with his arms. He frowned when he realized his lack of effort in it all, and the burn of his arms. He didn’t know how Gwyn did the whole focusing thing, and seeing as he couldn’t do it, he slumped down onto the ground. “Gwyn…” he groaned, his nervousness gone and replaced by frustration and fatigue. “I’m bored. This is tiring.” He said childishly.
