Miss Clarinet Hey everyone, what is the highest note that you can play? I can tongue up to A# (5 spaces above the staff, not 1 line), but I can slur all the way up to C. I can't tongue the higher notes because I just started teaching myself them a couple of weeks ago. I can play all the way up to my E(three above the staff)

Hi clarinet players. Wow that was dumb. anyways I've been playing for about a year and a half now but I'm pretty dang good! I'm in 7th grade middle school band and there's aboutt 100 people in it. and like 40 clarinets. ((I'm third clarinet! ^_^ )) uhhmmm my school and town is ghetto so the only thing we have to entertain everyone is the huge football field for our very suckish foorball players XD and when football season's over theres like nothing to do. I love band butt I don't wanna be in marching band because they wear those hiddious hats! I wanna be in Jazz band! they don't wear hats ^^ but to get into that next year I have to move on up to saxophone but my stupid band teacher says she won't let me because I'm one of the best clarinet players blah blah. stare
The highest note I know how to play is just holding the register key and nothing else down but the only way I can play that is to slur up to it.

So I didn't know the name of it because my teacher hasn't even taught it to us yet. that's no excuse. i knew the names of the notes i could play when i was in 6th grade. and it's fairly self explanatory if you work your self up to the note by playing ever note in between...and it's stupid if you don't know how to play any note in between, because then it's not a practical note and it doesn't help you anyway.

I know how to play all the notes inbetween that one! and my teacher isn't teaching us anything about high notes because she's trying to get us ready for contest. also, I dont have to play ever note inbetween! I start at high A (the one a couple measures above the top line. its the note with the line through it) then slur up to high C! which is only slurring by two notes or so.

Okay, so apparently my asking about higher note fingerings was perfect timing. Today, in the second band class(which I have now) I was finalyl allowed to have 1st part after having been denied it because I came into the class midway and he jsut handed me a part.
Well, anyway, I quickly realized why he gave 1st to the top two clarinet players in the band(trust me on this. In this particular class period, nobody can play their instruments but three of us, all of which are in both band classes.) instead of one of the top 3 and a lower kid.
It went up to high a(four spaces above the staff, not four lines.) My old fingering charts only went up to high g(four lines above.) I had to teach her the fingerings and even then we killed our bd and two flute player's ears. Ah, i love high notesXD
