Nina looked up... and up... and well way up..... she blinked and cried out happily in her old chattery self.

"Hey! It's... uhm.... well you had a growing time, but your hair decided it try and catch up with your body. Don't tell me.. I know... uhm... no no... I know this... Earendil!"

Lin covered her ears giving a look to Nina, "You're too loud."

"Crude but effective," Nadya nodded, an amused smile playing about her lips. "Not to mention, you would have to do that anyways in order to reach your goal alive. But word does travel, sometimes faster than you might think - especially if you leave only one or two survivors in each group you fight."

Who was she kidding? She wasn't fond of violence, of killing, but she accepted it as a necessary part of life, a necessary evil. If she didn't, how could she accept Gion as who he was, who had gained such a reputation for killing?

"Besides," she added, "eliminating their leader may be only a step in stopping these men altogether, but it is the largest step. Anyone who tries to take his place would have to fight to gain the respect of all the men involved - no little feat."

Earendil couldn't help but laugh heartily at Nina, especially her comment about his hair. He squatted down in front of the two, his dark eyes glittering in the torchlight.

"By the Valar," he breathed, grinning, "you haven't changed a bit." He reached out and scratched her behind the ears, something - he recalled - that she had liked.

He was distracted slightly by the little ... er ... tiny? ... girl that was on Nina's back. She looked familiar, but of course he had never met her before. She was far too young! And yet ... there was something about her ...

"Hello, young lady," he smiled warmly, holding one hand out to her to shake. "I'm Prince Earendil ... I'm afraid I've not yet had the pleasure of making your acquaintance. Who might you be?"

"All in all it's the best course of action," Donovan murmured, "It'll be a pain, but it'll be worth it," he mused thoughtfully.

He was also going to have to ask if anyone knew the most common dialect for the humans, because he couldn't always drag a translator around with him. It wouldn't do any good anyhow... how threatening could he be if he needed a translator?

"Of course I've changed, my scales always need replacing themselves, how can anyone stay the same?" Nina replied back leaning into his scratching she would have purred if it was in a power of a Kirin to purr that is, "Oooooo nice....."

Who knew Nina was a sucker for being scratched behind the ears?

Lin looked up at the boy, though he looked much older, kind of like her older brothers but it was because of his height. He was probably even taller than her Daddy. She reached out a grasp some of his fingers, seeing as her hand wasn't that big to begin with, "I'm Lin Winters," she replied back.

"Winters," Earendil murmured thoughtfully, cupping her hand in both of his and gazing down at her. He leaned closer to inspect her more closely, and his long black hair fell in front of his shoulders. He left it there, a slow smile spreading across his features.

"Yes," he whispered, more to himself than to the girl; "I can see it ... Kara ... you must be Kara's daughter."

Though she looked mightily like Donovan, too. Well, and it had been a long time since they had been there ...

"Kara and Donovan's daughter," he corrected his guess, looking at her eagerly for her reply.

"That's right!" Lin replied nodding and looking up, not realizing what her pressence meant for those that were not aware of the Second race, "I'm looking for my Daddy, he went here without me."

She pouted as if it would be completely normal to take her along no matter what he did. She wanted to help too!

An uneasy look appeared in Earendil's eyes, and he released her hand and straightened up.

"It was several days ago that he was here," he said hesitantly, reluctantly. "I'm sorry, but ... he's gone, he won't be back for a while ..."

So ... now what? He couldn't take her and go after Donovan, as fun as that might be.

Lin crossed her arms over her chest and gave Earendil a stubborn look that could have only come from Donovan if no one was the wiser. She pouted, sticking out her lower lip a bit before replying.

"Well I'm not leaving until he comes back!"

Nina blinked at that thinking it over, "So... are we staying right here?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 02, 2007 5:48 pm

"Of course you're not, Nina," Earendil chuckled, scratching her behind the ears once more. "You might be waiting a long time, and I couldn't let you starve. Besides, it wouldn't be comfortable to sleep here, wouldn't you prefer to go up into the castle proper? See some people again?"

His father wouldn't be impressed - but then, he never was when it came to the Gaians or discussions about them. Besides, this would be Earendil's way of being like Daeron and Tinuviel, outrightly flaunting his disregard for his father's ridiculous beliefs.

"Ooooo is Daeron here?" Nina inquired eager to go up to the castle besides they have really really comfy beds that she can fit on!

Oh and the vegetables... the yummy sweet green vegetables. Maybe they could still play? And what about the nice lady that liked to talk to her? Oh... that sounded like fun....

"Oh let's Lin!" Nina looked up though she couldn't see Lin since the girl was on her back, "They have yummy greens and good places to hide... and games to play... maybe they can play your favourite game."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 02, 2007 5:57 pm

"Unfortunately, no," Earendil replied softly, turning to lead the way out of the labyrinth. It would be a long walk: they were quite deep underground, and far in.

"Daeron has gone on a trip," he went on. "But what game are you talking about, Nina?" He glanced at Lin. "What's your favourite game?"

"Stalking," Lin replied back, it was a game she made up herself, the hardest people to stalk were her father, her older brothers and Mia... only because she couldn't hear where Mia was.

"Yup yup!" Nina followed Earendil, "She likes to stalk and pounce like a kitty! Aww... I'm sure Daeron would have liked that game."

"I'm not a kitty."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 02, 2007 6:09 pm

Earendil laughed heartily at that. "Well to be fair," he told Lin, grinning widely, "she never said you were a kitty. All she said was that you like to stalk and pounce like one - which is a different matter."

He paused to consider Nina's comment about Daeron. She was obviously still very fond of him - and she was right. Daeron would have loved to visit with her, to play games with her again, despite the fact that he was now a grown man - though he was sure that Nina would have been shocked to discover this, from the sounds of it.

"Perhaps he'll return before Donovan does," he suggested hopefully. "You may have a chance to play with him before you leave. I know he was looking forward to your visit."

"I don't stalk and pounce like one... you would have to go on all fours to do that," Lin pointed out.

Which to her, was how a kitty stalked, though to be fair she did stalk and pounce like she was a kitten trying out her claws.

"Oooo that would be nice, and then we can play games and sing.... maybe finish that other song, but I don't remember what number we left off on..."
