Dyanel looked at Natsuko and sat on a stool.
"Really? Where am I going to find someone like that? Everyone here is either getting over someone, doesn't want anyone, or... I don't know just not for me I guess," Dyanel remarked sad about something.
Cheebs looked up and nudged her mother. "Don't say that Dyanel-Dono," he remarked climbing up her shirt and jumping to her head.

"There are men like that, they just don't know it." Natsuko made a show of trying to poke Shinta in the forehead, though her hand passed through. "They have to be taught that they need stability--like him."
Shinta laughed. "From the time we met, I tried to break things off with her many, many times, for her own sake. It never worked...she was always there, following me."

Dyanel smiled slightly. She felt a bit of comfort with Shinta around and she looked up at Cheebs. She then slid off the stool and looked at Shinta.
"It's good that people don't give up. Gives hope to people who have lost their own." she said. Her eyes looked into Shinta's then she looked at Natsuko. "I'm glad you're both here," she added as Cheebs jumped to Shinta's head.
"Cheebs is glad to." he said making a nest in Shinta's hair and curling up again.

The swordsman groaned at the keros' new sleeping postion and Natsuko laughed. "Thank you Dyanel-san. Shinta and I are happy to have met people like you."
Shinta nodded in agreement at Dy, careful not to let little Cheebs fall, then winced as the action caused his hair to get pulled.
"He certainly has grown attached, hasn't he?" Natsuko commented.

Dyanel laughed wholeheartedly.
"Yeah he has." she said reaching out to take Cheebs.

Shinta helped Dyanel ease Cheebs out of his hair, wincing as several strands went away with Cheebs' little claws. "Cheebs-kun, this one believes you would be much more comfortable on someone's lap..."
Natsuko put up a hand to hide an unladylike giggle. "Where did you find that little one anyway?" She asked Dy.

Dyanel took Cheebs from Shinta, she wave her hand making a small pillow appear on the counter. She placed Cheebs on it pulling a small blanket over him. Cheebs was already snoring. She smiled a bit then looked back at Natsuko.
"There was a war in the Vampyre realm. His parents were killed and I saved him. Out of the cubs he was the only one left from that litter. I left him with my mother as I traveled. They grew really slowly. Cheebs is only two centuries old. Still a baby no matter," she said.

"Two centuries you say..." Natsuko stared at the little creature in disbelief.
Shinta nodded in agreement. "He remains remarkably innocent for one whose age is three times my life expectancy."
The swordsman stared back at Dyanel. He had become so relaxed and accustomed to Cole and Dyanel that it was only in occasional times like this one that the startling difference of his mortality struck him.
"But at least that thought no longer bothers me..." Shinta thought with a rueful smile. Reading his thought, Natsuko drew closer to him.

Dyanel looked at Shinta and smiled.
"I long for mortality Shinta." she said reading his thoughts.

Shinta nodded understandingly, remembering Cole's words. "Is...is there any way?" He asked hesitantly.
"Or a place for you in the after-realm?" Natsuko added.

Dyanel looked at Shinta.
"There used to be a way, but the magic is forbidden even to the immortals. I'd risk living my life in shame. I don't want to do that. I care about my friends too much. In another realm, I'll join the past Spirit Keepers and live among them. That's my destiny, well part of it anyway," Dyanel stated knowing she a lot like that damned book Cole had in the library.

"Hmm..." Shinta thought for a moment. "Does that place connect with the mortal afterlife?"
Natsuko smiled as she continued Shinta's thought. "We would want to be able to see you."

Dyanel leaned her head to the side contemplating this.
"They never said it doesn't, so it most likely does," Dyanel said with a smile.

"That is good to hear..." The words were almost a sigh from the red-haired swordsman. Leaning forward, he poured some tea for he and Dyanel, which had finally cooled enough to drink.

Dyanel sighed too sitting back down on her stool. She rested her chin on her hand, her elbow resting on the counter.
"We need some sort of festival here or something to liven the pagoda up," she remarked looking around.
