"Normal zombies that come out of mist! Yesss..."

Asherah began to walk ahead with them, her eyes continually scanning the mist. She tried her best to keep calm in this situation, but still, the though of seeing those things again sent a shiver of fear up her spine.

"How much further, I can barely s--" She paused and looked to Enki a bit. "What if they've gotten to the village already..."

Rethir whimpered softly as the crutch came up under her arm, and she started to limp hobble forward at a reasonable pace . . . until she heard Asherah's comment.

As if someone had suddenly lit a fire under her, she started forward at what might be considered a breakneck pace for a person with a crutch, or a brisk jog for someone without.

Meanwhile, many of the ghostly silhouettes in the fog seemed to be taking on more solid definition . . .

"If they've already reached the town, then we can only hope my ideas of myth and how to stop something like this are true. Either way, we'd better book it! The town can't be very far at all," Enki says as he continues to rush as quickly as he can holding of a very heavy and rather wounded dragoness, trying to make out any sign of a town throw the thick mist, but the phantom part of the mist making if very very difficult for him.

Asherah ran ahead in the mist and peered through a small crack of fire light. Her eyes widened as she saw the town ahead. It was just a glimpse though, she couldn't say what condition the town was in.

"It's up ahead! C'mon!" Shouted the disembodied voice. "Just head straight!"

Waving away the fog, she stumbled out into the town and rubber her eyes. The fog was doing something to her eyes, they felt itchy.

.Antique Heartbeat.

Waving away the fog, she--

. . . Ran right into the chest of an undead Draconian that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

This one was missing an arm, but that didn't stop it from raising its remaining limb and slashing it down through the air with a roar in an attempt to gut her open like a pig.

Asherah screamed and whipped out her sai sword, driving it directly into the thing's head. Seeing the creature become limp, she slid her sword out and kicked it over.

"ENKI. IT'D BE NICE IF YOU WERE HERE NOW."

Looking around and up, Asherah blinked as a small spec of water obscured her vision. One by one the rain fell faster and harder. And soon enough it felt as if a bucket of water was being poured on them. The sound of the rain was immense.

"BRILLANT! JUST BLOODY ******** BRILLIANT!"

HOMYGODRAIN! That's pretty much the only thought that is going through Enki's mind right about now. "ASHERAH! Get your cute little a** back here right now!" he calls out as he hobbles toward where he can barely make out Asherah's silhouette through the mist. As the rain pours down upon them, about half of the droplettes never actually make it toward the ground, but stop right above it and form into long, thin, sharp little pikes that point outward from Enki, his eyes glowing very brightly.

"We're so close . . . we must hurry . . . " rasped a suffering Rethir, as she continued to hobble forward. But suddenly more of the undead creatures came sprinting out of the mist, heading directly for Enki and Rethir, and she stopped to look around for an escape route frantically.

There were none.

The monsters would be within range to attack in only seconds . . .

Careening about, all that she could hear was the pounding of her heart. But it was faster than that, it was the rain about them, the drops of rain that beat down on her, and those about. She almost couldn't think. Despite this, Asherah flung her swords at the creatures, hoping they'd hit, it was a shot in the dark after all.

Dunk! Dunk!

The sound of a rotting, hallow skull confirmed it. Or was that the sound of tree trunks....

Thunk! Thunk!

Success! That was the noise she was looking for! Yay for dead...dead bodies hitting the ground. But that didn't solve the problem completely. Perking up her ears, she tried her best to filter out the sound of the rain.

"RAAAAAA"

And that was a sheer sign. That was a dead dinosaur.

"RETHIR! ENKI!"

Asherah stumbled on the softened ground, already was the water puddling, and making mud. She couldn't find her footing. And--

Ker-SPLAT!

"Nya!"

Her knee bashed right into a jagged little rock, Asherah couldn't help but yelp in pain. The little shatterling was now on the ground, covered in earth, bleeding, and also in a vulnerable state-- not good. She tried desperately to scramble to her feet, the drive to help Enki and Rethir pushed her, but she couldn't, her knee was throbbing horribly.

There were now hundreds of little water spikes formed around Enki as the sound of the rain beats down into the forest, more sounds of undead, hungry dragons echoing and distorting in the storm. Suddenly Enki hears a sound he hopes he would never hear, but there it is. The sound of a woman in pain. Fortunately for them, Enki could just barely make out her form as she tumbles to the ground and not from a zombie, but from water. Now is the only chance Enki will get, so he takes it. With hundreds of little ice spikes formed around him and Rethir, then raise up to Virconian height and even out along the horizon in a circle around them. With Rethir hobbling, they rest only a few inches above her head, but are perfect head-height to the zombies surrounding them. Suddenly they all shoot out in a massive circle around them, being rather indiscriminate of their targets: Trees, bushes, air, zombie brains, whatever.

The spikes whistled through the air menacingly . . . and there were dozens of 'thunks' as they buried themselves in the skulls of multiple creatures, followed shortly afterwards by the sound of all their bodies collapsing into the mud.

And yet, more of them could be heard growling and snarling and screeching beyond the wall of mist.

Rethir finally managed to catch up with Aserah at this point, and as best as she could one her ice crutch, tried to help the woman to her feet. "We must hurry! We are nearly there!" she shouted.

Asherah accepted the help of Rethir, but it was of no use, her knee hurt too badly. And on top of all things, it was contaminated with the mud. Her hands slipped from Rethir's grasp as she lowered herself done to nurse her knee.

"You guys go on, the village is right there." She looked up to Enki and smiled. "I'll be fine, I promise."

Closing her index finger and her thumb on the rock, she plucked it out with another yelp of pain. Now to clean it. Gesture for Enki to come a little closer, she swiped a bottle of water from his coat and twisted off the cap. And with a splash of water, and from the aid of the rain, the wound was clean. Asherah would have to heal it now.

"Go on. Go to the village!"

"Ya, cause that's gunna fly with me, right?" Enki says sarcastically as he lifts the small woman into his arms and starts running as fast as he can while carrying her. The village is indeed nearby as he sprints to catch up with Rethir. He doesn't bother to turn around or even listen behind him as his only thought at the moment is <******** run. He clutches Asherah closer to him, being careful of her knee as his boots splash hard in the muddy puddles beneath him.

"Well it better, cause I'm not---" Asherah meeped out as he scooped her up. "MOVING!"

Clinging onto his shirt as Enki ran, Asherah tried to bend her legs so it wouldn't hurt. Needless to say, that didn't really work. Blood pooled and began to drip to the ground beneath them. It was a treatable gash, but during this circumstance, all Asherah could do was hold onto Enki so she didn't fall. Her fingers entangled in his shirt once more. 'Don't let go don't let go don't let go.' Asherah never liked being the damsel in distress. But as luck would have it. She always was.

Rethir did her best to keep up, but she couldn't help falling behind some, so she was about twenty feet behind them, nearly lost from sight in the mist, when the hulking figure of a Draconian suddenly leaped out in front of Asherah and Enki with a mighty roar. However, this one was covered from head to toe in steel armor, held a large shield in one hand, and an enormous sword raised above its head in the other.

The Draconian stopped when it took a good look at the pair, then let the sword fall back to its side. Then it growled something in the Draconian language, and another pair of armored Draconians stepped out of the fog. One of them started to reach out to take Asherah gently, but there was another cry from the warrior who had surprised them as he caught sight of Rethir. Mistaking her for another of the undead monsters, it raised its sword and rushed forth, leaving her too shocked to react . . .
