Anny smiled and was about to speak, but Cameron stopped her. He was biting the end of his pencil, thinking. "We are going to have to take a vote, Kat. All of the staff." He then slid over to the computer and began typing. The question read, "Should we let Damien be the tester for Kat's bloodlust training?" Lots of responses kept popping up. 25 No's, 23 Yes. 27 No. 27 Yes. 28 No, 28 Yes. Anny rolled over to the computer and pushed one "yes" for her and smiled at Kat. Cameron then stared down at the keyboard, and then to Kat. "I'm sorry Kat." He then pushed down the "no" button once and turned back to her. It was 29 to 29. He then said "We need an actual test, one that shows you can control your bloodlust. You have grown accustomed to Damien. We need someone who you barely know, some complete stranger that you might kill."

As soon as Kat noticed that Cameron pushed 'No' her heart sunk, her smile faded, and she dropped the towel. Her stomach churned as she felt sick. Confusement hit her and she almost fell over as she felt sick and dizzy. "I...You...But.." she couldn't finish her sentence. Tears formed in the lining of her eyes and began to roll down her cheeks. She suddenly felt betrayed, and she felt hurt and angry. "You seen me...That night when I lost control. I didn't kill anyone... I didn't." she said, shaking. "You just want me to stay here don't you? You don't want me to be free. You want me to spend the rest of my damned life in this place! Miserable! You don't want me to be happy. You're not my friend. Hell for all I know you're with Donovan on this. You've never had to fight for you freedom. You've never had to prove that you were worthy enough to be free. And here you sit...Taking my chance at freedom away from me. You're just like everyone else. I should've known that. I knew I shouldn't have trusted you! You...You....a*****e!" she screamed at him, pulling the bracelet from her wrist and throwing it at him before storming out of the place, slamming the door. She had tears rolling down her cheeks as she tried to wipe them away. She headed down the hall past the pool, she didn't want to tell Damien.

Akimaru and Rina were immediatley to the rescue. they had heard everything. They slowly walked up beside her and Akimaru whispered "This one is your job." Rina slowly looked up at Kat. She was infuriated and seemed to be crying, but Rina shook her head trying to snap back into reality. "You know he is just doing what is best for you. The two things you must learn about Damien and Cameron is that they will love you no matter what circumstances you are in. To tell you the truth, you are just being selfish to call Cameron those names. You still have a chance anyway, the scores are tied. They might be able to still get you Damien. Cameron was just trying to help you, and if you are too blind by your own little selfish dream to see that, then I guess he shouldn't help you in the first place." She then turned away and began to slowly move in a trot. Akimaru came up next to her and asked, "Do you think that worked?" Rina stared over to him and said, "Kat needs to figure this out on her own. Would she rather chase after her false freedom and risk killing someone, or be tested truthfully before going for her dreams?"

Kat clenched her fists up, digging into her own flesh, causing her hands to bleed as she listened to Rina. "I'm selfish? Sorry, I didn't know that wanting to get of this place, after over ten years, was selfish. I don't care if I called him names. If he can't handle it then, I guess I don't really care. I only called him one name." she hissed. "And I don't need your sympathy! I don't need help. Don't act like you know me. I haven't even known you for more then three days. If you lived my life, you'd want freedom too. And I think, that after being experimented on, giving my blood, and healing other people's wounds that I don't know, I think I've earned a rightful chance at gaining some freedom. I'm not even crazy." she said, shaking her head before going into her room. She slammed the door and locked it, sinking down into her room, making sure that the lights were off. The shadows around her noticed her anger and sorrow, and they fed off of it. They began to whisper to her, and wrap around her body like a blanket. Kat curled up into a ball, and covered her head with her arms, crying softly.

Damien noticed Kat wasn't coming back ,and he slowly got out of the pool and began drying off. He then got his clothes back on and walked down to the main office. There sat a slightly suprised Anny, and a very serious Cameron. "What happened?" He asked as he looked over to Anny. Anny slowly leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Cameron voted no against having you for Kat's bloodlust test, because he says that she actually needs to be tested on her ability to control it and not the level of her love. Rina and Akimaru slowly slipped into the room without them noticing and listened to the conversation. Cameron then got up, not being able to take it anymore and said, "Fine! If she wants to kill people and blame me for all of her problems, then let her!" He then pushed the "yes" button and stormed off to the living quarters. Damien then looked down at the screen and said, "I know this is what Kat wants, but I still have to question if it's right? If she ever goes insane like she did, I can control her, right?" Anny didn't say anything as she was afraid that she would make the wrong response.

Kat was so angry, that she wanted to prove Cameron wrong just to make him angry. Her blood was boiling, she was so upset. She took in a calming breath and looked down at the shadows. Kat's whole body was shaking and shivering, she felt so cold, and the shadows just continued to wrap around her, in an effort to keep her warm. She stood up quickly, and the shadows formed a black dress around her body as she walked out of her room, and back into the office. Her eyes burned with hot stinging tears as she grabbed a random file out of the pile and slammed it down. "Never mind. Just bring that person in. I want to prove Cameron wrong. Sorry for yelling infront of you Anny. Call me when it's time." she said, voice wavering as she held back the anger. She walked right past Damien without saying a thing, and then she headed back to her room,wiping her tears, and smudging her own blood on her face. She just ignored it and walked back into her room, before collapsing on her bed. The shadows pulled back, and then formed around her like a blanket again. Jack jumped out of the shadows, and Kat wrapped her arms around him loosely. He nuzzled against her and hugged her, comforting her silently.

"My... god!" Anny yelped as Damien came over to see what she was looking at. Calvin, age 12. She chose a twelve year old boy that was in a wheelchair. Damien then asked Anny, "Do you think I should tell her?" Anny shook her head and then said, "The test is in fifteen minutes, and she might freak. Also, this boy has troubles showing emotions, so she might think that he is mocking her." damien then nodded his head slightly and watched as the clocl ticked down. They got Calvin and set him in the blank room with white walls and a steel door, they began to pile into the room, and then Anny made the announcement for Kat. Damien then looked down at the ground, and noticed the bracelet he saw Kat wearing earlier. He then walked to the door that Kat would have to enter from and waited for her.

Kat heard her name, got dressed and headed down the hall. She shoved her hands in her pockets and she looked up, only to see Damien. She looked away at first, but then her eyes met with him. "I'm going to pass this, we'll be free, and everything will be okay." she said softly. She wrapped her arms around him lovingly and kissed him on the lips. She then pulled away, and reluctantly she entered the room. Her eyes fell upon the young lad and she cursed herself under her breath. Just her luck. A child. She pushed her way through the crowd, and she stood in the middle, giving a weary glance around the room. She waited for them to do whatever they usually did. Which usually consisted of either them flicking blood in her face, or making a small cut on the child to trigger her blood lust.

Tehy slowly walked up to the boy and took his arm. While they were carving him slightly with the knife, he just stared at Kat before saying, "They said that you might kill me, but I'm not afraid. If you are going to though, please start with my legs, I can't feel them anymore, so I will just die from blood loss."They then pulled away from him quickly as his arm started to slowly leak blood. He simply looked her straight in the eye and asked, "Are you going to kill me?"

Kat stared right back at him, she sensed little, if any emotion coming from him. This was a good thing for her, emotions always made things worse, especially fear. She listened to him and remained silent while he spoke. Her eyes flicked to the blood at first and then her eyes went right back to his. "No. I'm not even going to hurt you." she said, her voice was empty, her eyes burned with determination. The scent of blood reached her and her heartrate increased, she clenched her hands, and she felt compelled to bite into him. Her fangs fought to come out, and her eyes fought to turn crimson. But she didn't allow them to, she took in a deep breath, and she took a step forward, everyone gasped. She just smiled and she kneeled down to his level, her eyes staring into his. "Do you trust me?" she asked, her voice was calm and polite. Usually by this time, there was blood everywhere.

"I don't have much of a choice, do I? Yes, I trust you." He lay completely still, but he slowly turned to the one way mirror, and turned back to her slowly. "Damien says 'Hi'." Damien slowly backed away from the one way mirror, simply staring at the kid in complete shock.

"Actually, you have all the choice in the world. No one here can tell you what to do." she said, lowering to a sitting postition. She looked to the mirror and waved slightly, giving a smile before she turned back to Calvin. Kat only had to last fifteen minutes with him bleeding like that. "Tell me, what's your name? I figure since we have fifteen minutes together, I might as well get to know you." she said, shrugging slightly. Smokey stood by the window and peered through, his weary eyes full of hope. He looked at Damien and smiled, "She'll do it, she'll beat this, you know. Kat would never hurt a child. She has a lot more control then what most people think. She hides it." he said, chuckling with a smile.

"My name is Calvin. They put me in here because I have troubles expressing my emotions. I don't need facial expressions when I have words. When I say that the boy through the glass is lucky to have such a wonderful person, I don't really need an expression, do I? The confinement has gotten me to mature quickly, and now all I do is read books. Not much else to do." Damien looked over to Smokey and nodded his head slightly before saying, "That boy is something else, and so far Kat hasn't had trouble with him. Calvin slowly held up his bleeding arm to her face and said "It's liquid. It's just molecules vibrating. Maybe you like it, but don't let it control you."

Kat nodded, smiling weakly. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Calvin. You can always play pool or cards, talk to people, share wisdom, write, there are a lot of possiblities. I'm in here because I am an empath. I feel the emotions of the people around me." she said giving a weak smile. Kat stared at his arm, and an idea popped into her head. She let her fangs grow out, and she pretended to go and bite him, and everyone gasped. She stopped only centimeters away from the blood, and then, she let her fangs retract, and she pushed his arm back, away from her face. Something Kat had never shown before. "I don't let it control me. I feed when I need to." she said softly. "I like to make people think it controls me. But I'm here today to prove someone wrong. I'm here to gain my freedom. If you'd like, I can come and visit you. I like you, Calvin. You're a smart boy." she said, giving a smile.

"I would enjoy someone to talk to, but it seems that others don't get along very well with me. They are afraid of what is different and therefore shun me. You are also different Kat, and you know what it is like. That is why you are accepting." Cameron heard one of the staff ask another "Is this a lecture or a test?" Calvin then slowly began wiping the blood off his arm. "Perhaps one day I shall apply for one of these tests, but probably not soon, I have not finished all the books in the library yet."
