Shadi nodded. "He's gonna meet me back home... from the sound of it, we probably have company," he murmured with a small shrug. He looked troubled. It was never a good sign when Gervain had "friends" over. Either he killed them or they were equally as cunning and evil as him and they were plotting to kill someone else... More often the former than the latter. Gervain rarely met anyone of his power or higher - and when he did, which had so far only happened two times as far as Shadi knew - he always called on his partner. Shadi was quite skilled with his magic, but he didn't fight often. He had quite an amount of power, but almost no practice apart from day-to-day things - like money. Truth be told, Shadi was deeply afraid of fighting, and even more afraid of dying. "I should... I should get going. Thank you for all your help in tryng to find my pack... But... I do think you're right. Ger probably has it..."

Nodding, Brice held a hand out to keep Shadi from going. Well he really hadn't been much help, not like he really cared... that much, but he did feel a tiny bit guilty letting Shadi just hobble on home in the cold. Not everyone liked the cold like him.
"Just a sec kid, I'll get us a lift home." Brice waved a taxi down, and motioned for Shadi to get in. The least he could do is have the taxi take Shadi home, then get back to his own place. He needed to call his daughter anyway. She liked talking to him once in a while, and she always had plenty to say.
"Just let the driver know where you need to go. The tab's on me."

"Y-you don't need to do that for me!!" he stammered, but it was obvious how greatful he was. The last of his sparce money had been spent on the hot coacoa and he would have had to walk home in the cold - and home was about a forty minute walk away. Shadi had gotten about as far from his home as he could without freezing to death before going into the hot coffee shop. "I-I mean... th-thank you!" he said, smiling brightly. He wasn't very used to kindness and was a little nervous - not quite apprehensive. He hoped he hadn't been rude in any way.

Brice rolled his eyes. Getting in the taxi first he then took Shadi by the wrist and gently pulled him in, so as not to bang the boy's head on the door.
"Yeah, yeah kid. So where you going?" Brice said, waving off the thank you like it meant nothing. It was odd having someone thank him, since he rarely gave any thought or care to most others.
"If we ever see each other again sometime, you could buy me a ice coffee as payback." of course he said this jokingly, though he was in the mood for another one.

Zakai-tan Shiyaa nodded to Kuno, a hand on Kiyo's shoulder. He looked over to Kaya, frowning a little, " Not your fault. I probably would've been attacked anyway. I'm not exactly good at lying, after all." He smiled a little, then looked around the cafe," Everyone seems to have panicked and left...You two should probably head out, too. The police and all....Kuno, do you want me to show you my apartment so you know where it is? I'm probably going to need a new job, but I could still use you. And, uh..." He looked at Kaya, " You approached me earlier...." "You needn't show me your appartment, but I will not allow you and Kiyo to walk home by yourselves....I will make sure you get home safely...." he said, then he added under his breath; "I'd hate to see you get hurt..." "There is something I'd like to talk to you about then....after we reach somewhere secure...." Kuno added, smiling slightly as the air around his body increased in temperature again.

"Two-seven-five Greely ((not a real streat as far as I know))!" Shadi piped in immidiately, closing the door behind himself. He rubbed his hands together quickly and blew warm breath over them, hoping to warm them up. It worked a bit, but it wasn't the most affective method of heating out there. He strapped his seatbelt on and waited for the cab to move. He was a fidgetter - something that helped him keep warm - and it really showed in the ways he moved. The cab was nice and warm - or at least warmer than outside was - and he smiled contintedly as they drove off.

Wanting nothing more than to cool the cab down a little with his magic powers, Brice kept himself from doing it, not wanting to give himself away. Shadi seemed harmless, but who knew? He could be a mage, or be a human who knew about that kind of stuff. Deciding to tap his foot instead of thinking of the warmth around him, Brice groaned.
Maybe ten minutes later the cab pulled up at the disignated stop, and parked the car.
"Two-seven-five Greely street." the taxi driver said, in a not so caring voice.

Shadi opened the door and hopped out. Then, remembering his manors, he piped in, "Thank you very much, Mr.... uh... Mr... Umm, thank you very much!! Would, uhm, you like to come in maybe?" It wasn't much, but he'd like to repay the other somehow. He deffinately was not at all good at these things. He had, after all, never had any friends and, for the longest time, not even a family. Ger was his family now, he supposed.

Brice almost declined the offer, but... he was curious to see if maybe he could find out if Shadi and this Ger person where really mages. He had a hunch, and knowing where other mages were in the area could prove usefull.
"I guess I could steal a nice cold drink from ya." Brice said, and climbed from the car, handing the taxi driver his money, with a little extra since he could care less about change. Slamming the door to the cab, he looked around, not really having been over in this exact area before.

Shadi smiled, although a little uncertainly now. He had just realised that Gervain would not be happy at all about an unexpected visitor. But he couldn't take his offer back now - that would be rude and, with the kindness the other had shown him, not at all proper. "Right, follow me," he murmured, opening the door to the dingy apartment building with his key - luckily that had been kept in his pocket. He climbed up several flights of stairs before reaching the level of their flat. He opened the door and showed the other in - and there again was that contrast of dingy apartment with sparkling clean rooms with every wall lines with books. "Ger, I'm home!!" he called out.
Ger stood up, a real smile spreading across his lips now. He made his way into the main room, expecting to find Shadi alone. But his smile faultered as he noticed the man behind him. After shooting Shadi a questioning, and slightly angry, look, he gave the stranger a smile and said, "I suppose you're another guest?" he asked pleasantly, successfully disguising his confusion and mallace. ''Come sit in, please."

Brice came in after Shadi, not expecting the place to be like it was. Well looks could be decieving. Glancing over the names of some of the hundreds of books that seemed to be around, Brice didn't notice Gervain's initial reaction to him being there. Not that he cared. Let the other guy get all uppity over it.
"You must be Ger, the backpack stealer?" Brice asked, sitting down at an offered seat. He wasn't exactly the best conversationalist. Drat... it was too hot everywhere he went lately. Or maybe it was just him. Tired of being so hot, Brice used a bit of his magic to cool the air around him down just enough so it shouldn't be too noticeable. He hoped, not like he needed trouble.

Gervain nodded and grinned a little sheepishly. "So I've been found out, eh?" he said, ruffling Shadi's hair. The boy seemed to have gotten over his initial shock that Ger would take his protection away from him. He eyes roamed along the room until they found his pack, sitting innocently on the counter top. He smiled, but didn't bother to check its insides. He had all the books he needed right here at home. "Nah... so... Ger, who's the other company?" Shadi asked curiously.
"A rescent aquaintance," he murmured, giving Shadi a meaningful gulp. The boy swallowed uncomfortably. Gervain probably intended upon killing this guest, whoever he or she was.

Not sure if it was just him, but Brice could feel an uneasy feeling in the room. He wasn't so sure about this Gervain fella. Not really wanting to stay much longer, even though he'd love to have that cold drink he'd mentioned, Brice stood to go.
"Well thanks for inviting me up kid, but I think I should go." Brice said, hands stuffed into his pockets as he looked at Shadi.
"I'll have to get that cold drink from you another time then."

"Are you sure?" Shadi asked anxciously. "I-I can get it for you now, if you'd like!" he said, already beginning to scuttle off towards the kitchen. "Is there anything in particular you would like...?" Gervain frowned, consumed in thought. Cold drink? In winter? Unless he was very much mistaken ro this guy was just a weirdo, they probably had another mage on hand, and a Cryomancer at that.

Leif's eyes darted around uncomfortabley at the presence of so many new people. Of course he knew his magic could man-handle Gervain into submission, but if they were all of that higher level, he didn't have any faith that he could take them all on. So he put on his best dangerous face and sunk deeper into the chair like a sulking child.
