Get back on topic.

Discuss how the Marines or IG or Tau would do against the Dark Eldar.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 18, 2007 10:31 pm

Tau: as long as they keep out of hth, they will decimate DE - S5 ap5 basic weapon... but the keeping out of hth may be hard wit DE speed... portals allow for instant charge. Tau air cavalry may be tougher to crack, due to all-mounted nature.
IG: they can be difficult for DE with numerical superiority, hth again is better option for DE as with superior initiative and ws the are at advantage here, and even lasguns en masse hurt DE.
Marines: good for the DE that they will for once outnumber their foes, but stats of marines, especially strength and toughness, hurt. Take all the power weapons and ap3 or lower weapons you can have, cause power armor hurts too... marine characters with power fists can duel Archon, they need only one failed save compared to 3 failed on other side, and they wound easier...

I want to say you are right man on saying how DE are weak against some of those armies, but me and my friend sat down and made this ******** amazing list.

He has never won a game with his DE before this, except once or twice. With this new list he trumped all my friends had I had about 100 points more than him by the end of our cleansing mission.

Commander on bike, three squads of bikes with blasters, (four to a squad) two raiders with wyches aboard, two squads of warriors with Dark Lances, 10 scourges(Dark lances or splinter cannons with a few changes) and two Ravengers. This list is killer...

It gets to you amazingly fast, and even with low armor his vehicles are a pain to kill. Its awesome.

That is a really good list! I tend to use two deep striking raiders with a full squad of wyches in each. Depending on the army I'm opposing I may deep strike a Ravager. I usually have at least 3 full squads of warriors: 2 splinter cannons, blaster, and shredder. I use the Talos on rare occasions. *shrugs* Jet bike squads are pretty nice too.

When the bikes are turbo boosting 24 inches and dropping strength 6 templates on you soon after(can't shoot the turn they turbo obviously...) they are also getting that healthy invul save, AND get a free 6 inch move in the assault phase. Nasty..

Dark Eldar jetbikes get a 6" move in the assault phase? I thought it was only the Eldar who got that...

IIRC, the (highly controversial) Wargear book updates Dark Eldar Jetbikes to be Eldar Jetbikes as well.

My dreams just came true.

What do you people think of the Talos?

if only we dark eldar would stop tearing each other apart long enough to multiply we would wipe out our foul brethren, The Eldar from all of their craftworlds and we would stand victorius.

The reason for this is that we are gifted by the chaos gods of the warp with the fact of we have no trouble reproducing unlike the eldar, but our ageless state can only be maintained by comsuming huge numbers of souls, not unlike the chaos gods themselves.

It is no wonder that we allow killers most feral into our city of Commarghha, in it's everliving blood sky of twilight, to let them kill, to let us feed of their very souls.

I dont collect Dark Eldar nor do i particularly like them, but i think its really out of order how GW is completely ignoring them. For example, during the medusa campaign most of the armies got new units or new models, all dark eldar got was a box of wychs which were exactly the same as the wychs in blister packs. Then theres the apocalypse expansion, what are dark eldar getting for it? Imperial guard get a baneblade and boxes of tanks, space marines get a tooled up land raider, orks get ANOTHER big mek and dark eldar again get nothing. Does anyone actually know why Dark Eldar are being neglected so badley?

Because they're a failure. They didn't sell well when they were released, they don't sell well now. Why spend time crafting the model if nobody's (comparatively to Marines) will buy it?

I believe some people would purchase them if they got an overhaul. I know a lot of people that like that playing style, and you know there are tons of gawths and other little subculture kids thatd love spiky leather wearing pale hedonistic elves.

People dont buy them as their models are awful looking. And theyve become so obscure, some people dont know of them, or where to find them. Perhaps right now while gw is apparently doing poorly, I can understand, but if they pick themselves back up, Id like to see the DE treated like a playable race again.

Well, as rumour would have it, Dark Eldar are schedualed to have a bunch of new models released in 2009.

Another rumour is that Jes Godwin himself is working on them.
