Viken Sterling Mcleod passed through the city gates and he slowly came to a stop. He enjoyed the dull roar and activity in this city, it relaxed him. He started walking again, heading to no place in particular. His sword strapped firmly to his back had come slightly loose and was flapping against him with each step he took.

He turned through various streets, content to get himself lost in the hustle and bustle of what he assumed was the market district of the city.

He stopped at a fruit stand and bought himself a few apples. As he sunk his teeth into the soft flesh of one, he turned and saw the roof of the impressive light temple. He regarded it, and began slowly walking towards it.

He decided that if he was going to be in this city for a while, it couldn't hurt to pay a visit to the temple. In fact, it may help his stay if he could get some information about the city here.

((I'm so sorry guys, I've been uber busy the past week.))

"Or scholarly friend here has forgotten one more important group." Rigel smirked, "Far outnumbering the nail removers and the non-nail removers is the nail benders."

"They're obsessed with maintaining the society that has been created. THey bend the nail towards the chair so the nail can't hurt anybody, but nothing has really changed."

"There’s a point in our life when we actually come in contact with reality. When our perception of reality begins to bend..." He stretched his arms forward, "Usually there’s a nail-bender there to make sure nothing ever changes. But occasionally one slips through the cracks. And then what was bending breaks, and nothing is ever the same. You know more about yourself than most will ever bother to find out."

He folded his arms and reached into two hidden pockets at his side.

"Some people would call this a persons destiny. Whether they become a nail-remover or a nail-placer. They can never become a nail-bender again, that opportunity passed with self-discovery. Until that moment, young girl, you'll have to look at all the nails you can do nothing about while power dangles just out of your grasp."

Rigel’s hands burst forward after that, more of the pins came flying out getting caught in an invisible orbit around Rigel.

"And..." One pin shot forward and dug into the wall.
"There..." Another zoomed into one of the pieces the skilled carpenters were working on.
"Is..." A third into the floor.
"more..." Another into a piece of almost finished furniture.
"Nails..." the sound of two more hit the wall.
"Than you can..." All but one zoomed out in all directions.

The final pin orbited around Rigel. He smiled at the girl and the turned away, with his lesson on reality almost finished he walked towards the doorway. He knew the healer wouldn't just let him leave after that display. Perhaps he could show the girl the one thing he had come to depend on.

"Imagine." He finished as the last pin escaped orbit and headed towards the girls shoulder.

((Trying to work Rigel out of this so I don't hold you guys up anymore. ))

((It's okay, V. I don't have much time to post, either. So, don't you feel obligated to remove Rigel cause of us...things are a lot more interesting with him there.

Awesome post, btw.

There is more nails than she can imagine. 3nodding ))

At first, Tiel listened carefully to Rigel, hoping he would somehow give her the answer. He was wrong...if the nail couldn't hurt anyone anymore, than things had changed.

"Until that moment, young girl, you'll have to look at all the nails you can do nothing about while power dangles just out of your grasp."

With those words, she knew he wasn't going to help her. Still, she watched as she felt that same...power, swirl around him, hoping to learn by seeing him do. The feeling of the first pin shooting out near her, and the sound of its impact made her jump, pulling her arms into her sides to make herself a smaller target. She could run, yes, but where?

Another shot out, embedding itself into wood, too well placed to be there by anything but design.

Surely...the spirits would guide his nails wherever he wished them to go. Even into her.

It was in fear, now, that she watched as more pins flew out, frozen in place near the misshapen chair as though hiding behind it. Her arms were held tight to her sides. Shadows from the corner her handiwork rested in seemed to gather to her, as yet another nail embedded itself into her father's fine cabinet which lacked only the finishing touches. The thought ran through her frightened mind that he'd never sell it now; father was too much of a perfectionist for that.

The darkness was seeming to leave the recesses of the shop, slinking towards the shadow of the terrified young girl. As Rigel's power flared, flinging out nails in all directions, the shadows jumped to Tiel's side. Her heart skipped a beat, both at the fear of the nails passing within inches of her and the realization that she was calling the shadows to her. Her frightened mind was screaming for something to protect her, releasing that scream through every pore in her body, and the shadows were answering.

Tiel didn't know that Rigel's last burst would carry the pin into her. The shadows did.

The carpenter's daughter stared, open-mouthed and afraid, her muscles shaking, at the pin suspended just three centimeters away from her shoulder. It was held up by a pedestal of shadows, thin, ribbon-like strips that rose from the ground, twined together, and finally caught and held the pin in place, binding it much as they had bound the horse in the marketplace.

Slifer lay on the ground, his cuts getting worse by the minute. Maybe trekking through the wilderness to get here was a bad idea, probably, at the moment, it was the last thing on his mind. The first thing was to get to safety, somewhere he could relax. A big building, he needed a big building. Looking around from the ground to the sky one looked much different from the others.

Pushing himself up Slifer walked slowly through the crowd, his limbs moving like tree trunks, slowly and unevenly, he stumbled nearly every other step, leaving droplets of blood behind him. People in the street got out of their way to avoid him, not wanting to be touched. He took in a deep breath, inhaling as much air as possible.

He limped slowly up some steps, ignoring people sitting on them, leaving blood on the steps as he stumbled he wobbled on the spot, he tried hard to go on, but he was so weak, dehydrated and had too many cuts. Getting to the top of the stairs he fell with a crack, getting a bruise to his head and giving him a slight cut on his arm, leaving more blood on the floor of the Light Temple

*Yuri smiled, gazing at the handiwork that he, and, possibly unknowingly, Rigel had created. He had done his job: awakened the latent powers of a young darkness mage. Of course, his job was far from over. He still had to guide this young girl, and of course, let her still maintain her own path. Controlling her would ruin her future, and he couldn't let that happen.* Tiel, I believe you have shown yourself what you must do. Now, will you accept that fate? To live as a mage? *He smiled gently, to ensure that she would feel comfortable.*

ZHAO!! ZHAO!! *He yelled out in the streets, hoping to find his merc. He walked quickly, hoping not to miss him in a crowd, now that they had some semblance of an idea of where to look for the relic. Of course, it would be hard, because now he didn't know where Vil'Jiar Jungle was located. He sighed, and took a brief break on a street corner*

As luck would have it, Zhao hadn't been that far away, when a yell resounded his name through the streets. He stopped and peered at the sky- it wasn't yet sunset. Strange that, could it be Nickolai? He wasn't that familiar with the man's voice yet. He decided to find out.

Sure enough, he saw Nicholai Maxwell resting not to far off as he approached where he had heard the yelling from. "You called?" He answered as he neared the man.

(( Carrying on... ))

Hoshimi-chan
Hoshimi babbled quickly in Eastern, she could speak Western basically but not if she was stressed then she went all but incoherent in it and had to resort to Eastern. She had been panicked since meeting Lao that afternoon. "Please, my mentor is injured...Please help him. We come from the Temple of Water in the East. They burned the village...." the girl herself looking exhausted, beautiful in her costume and general appearance but it would seem even she had been put through the ringer.

She herself did not know it but her mentor had caught a stray posioned arrow when they fled. The poison had been seeping into his sytem for the past week as they made their way here. It had been sheer willpower that had forced him from his bed at the herbalist healers to find his charge. He had also given every bit of food to her, only drinking enough water to keep him going to find somewhere safe, the one place where eventually they could lose themselves.

The man in question was hung in between the two women, his body slumped unconcious as Hoshimi kept looking at him worriedly, her eyes misting over with tears. Tsai was of average height for an eastern but about 35 years of age, he had in fact a bad heart as well tho no one knew of it either. It was something he had hidden even from his charge, even if he were healed he most likely wouldn't live long.

The dark blue cheongsam he wore, with silver lined sleeves and a dragon on the back stretched across his broad shoulders even in repose. His hair falling into his blanched face as Hoshimi tried to help the elven woman hold him upright along with her own staff, stuggling under the weight and her own weakened condition.

"I see..." the light mage said quietly as he drew near, turning his attention away from the young woman who spoke and, instead, looking to the apparent condition of the man she supported, taking note more of the pale expression that he bore than anything else.

"...I'm sorry for your loss," the mage said with a noticably melencholy tone; though, as he bent down slightly and swept a hand across his brow to brush aside the strands of auburn hair that obscured his vision so that he could have a view of the injured man's face. One hand reached up to the side of the man's face, touching it lightly, then turning the head to the side and glancing it over once more; all the while as his other hand rested calmly upon the knee of his crimson-trimmed white robe which marked him as one of the instructors here at the temple.

"I'm sorry, but could you hold him still for a moment longer?" Sol asked, turning his head just slightly to gaze up past a wave of hair to the young woman before his attention turned back to the task at hand; his emerald eyes glancing downwards as a baseball sized globe of luminescence grew in the center of his cupped hand, melting away from its perfect shape into something smaller and more shapely... a tiny pixie that glowed with an unearthly light stood in the palm of his hand, stretching its wings and tiny limbs in preparation for just a moment before it burst into a tiny fury of buzzing wings and encircled the light mage's head once, then returned to hover just above his hand.

"Please, little one, if you would search this man for wounds, specifically one that might be infected, or perhaps poisoned, it would help me greatly." he spoke at just above a whisper, leaning down towards the tiny thing that suspended itself in the air; the creature nodding once in its own approval before buzzing about the injured man's body in search of where he had been struck.

As for Sol, himself, he stood once again, reaching up to the neckline of his robes and pulling upon the folds just a bit in a trained reaction; the lines and wrinkles that had formed in the fabric while he had crouched pulled themselves taut against his shoulders, and the garment fell smoothly into place once again.

"Please," he asked, bowing his head to the young woman who had spoken on behalf of the group, "let's hurry inside with him, your journey has been long and hard, and you must all be weary from your travels. It's best to treat your master's wounds without another moment's delay..."

Viken walked through the city towards the Temple of Light, finally arriving at the outer gates. He continued eating his apple, slowly, as he walked inside.

Loss? What did he mean loss.It was one of the few words she caught. His tone was also meloncholy. She couldn't lose Tsai, not so far from home. She would be lost without him. Tears welled up in her eyes before she forced them back. He was still trying to heal him so all hope wasn't lost at least.

She closed her eyes for a moment as she held him still, some of their weight pushed onto her staff, tho she was barely able to keep upright herself. She did the best she could to what the man's request seemed to be. She envisoned the raging surf, slowly easing into a calmer smoothe pool of water, lapping at her ankles. When her eyes opened, they were a clear almost crystalline silver blue. Taking one last deep breathe Hoshimi focused on the apparent teachers words as her spine straightened.

She watched the light pixie appear and then perform as the man requested. She always admired a person who could command the spirites with such a gentle word. Too often it came out as a command and not the request that it was. He was in her mind at least a man of great intergity. If she was to grow further than she had already come in her own path, he might be one to watch while they were here.

The pixie would find the poisoned wound simply treated but still the posion was there in the man's left shoulder. The surface was cleared but the poison had seeped eve further into his bloodstream. Hoshimi's eyes followed the Pixie as she worked before glancing over at Sol again.

Listening as he spoke and the urgency in his voice, she wanted not to waste a moment she didn't know what she would do without Tsai. So anything she had would go towards helping him get better. Even if she was barely able to walk herself, she would push herself until Tsai was safe and secure, they were each all the other had left. For now however she settled for lifting her hand to Tsai's forehead, watching as her hand glowed a luminacant blue as she wiped his forehead, the water she had summoned cooling his forehead and dripping down his face as she tried to keep her fever in check now that she was calmer.

No longer giving any head to the elven woman who was helping them thho she was grateful and would speak to her later since she seemed to still be helping. Right now Tsai was the one in urgent need of care. Tsai no doubt would disagree but he no longer had the option of speaking. So she pushed off on her feet, the calves straining slightly from all the walking she had down. She was in excellent safe but she was used to glide easy long motions or quick short ones and with the horrible Lao person chasing her across the city it had been neither.

She would never admit it to anyone but she needed rest almost as much as Tsai did, but Hoshimi was too focused right now to give into something as simple as rest and forced each painful step forward to follow the man inside whereever it would take them. Hoping Tsai would at least be able to pass on the news of what had happened to someone who could give it to whoever would be able to do something.

Espa had nothing to say that would have been of use to the healer or Ms. Hoshimi so she just kept her mouth shut. She smiled at the ight of the Light spirit being summoned and felt the purity of it's presence in an odd way that she hadn't ever felt before.

A glance over at the Water mage told her that the woman was fatigued. 'I'm gonna have to pick up her slack,' she thought. The man looked as though she might be able to carry him a short distance unaided. Carefully, Espa crouched and eased Tsai onto her back. She hooked her arms under his legs and strained a little to stand up. Well, that was the hard part.

His arms draped limply over her shoulders as Espa followed the healer into the temple. She paid no attention to Tsai's weight lest she think about it and her knees buckle.

Viken was greeted by a young man, obviously a student.

Hello sir, welcome to the Temple.

Hello. I was wondering two things.

I shall help you as best I can sir.

First, where can I attain somewhere to stay? I'm probably going to be in the city for a while.

Well sir, I don't know very much about the inns around here. However, I could see about getting you accomodations inside the temple...

No, nonono. I wouldn't want to impose.

Well, if room can be provided, there would be no imposition. And your second question?

Ah yes. Where can I get a hearty meal and something to drink?

You see that somewhat large building over there?

Viken followed the trail of where the student pointed.

I believe so.

That is the Laburnum Tavern. You should be able to get whatever could sate your appetite. As long as it was dead...

The student chuckled.

Viken chuckled as well.

Thank you very much.

So, i'll see about that room for you, and you can come back too. That way I can tell you if they were possible or not.

If you insist, then I must bow to your generosity. I will return after I have eaten.

With that, Viken shook the student's hand and headed back toward town. This time his destination was the Laburnum Tavern. He hoped they made decent Lamb Soup.

Lao could not focus.

Something was definitely nagging him, though his thoughts had been cleared somewhat. And it didn't make it any better that the silvery blue eyes were haunting him still. That girl... she was familliar... familliar in a way that was indescribable. He could not guess what or how, or even why it was so. He just knew that it was so.

Something was wrong with Tsai, too. He had not eaten for days- weeks, it seemed. Was it because of her? Was she that important? He began to suspect something... but then shook it off. No, it was best not to go there. But there they were again, those eyes! Staring at him as he looked in every mirror and reflection! He would later know that they were his, but she was too fresh in his mind for him to concentrate.

But if they were his eyes, and everything fit into place, then what would that mean? He had a sister that he knew nothing about? A sibling that was kept from him? That was impossible- nothing was kept from him, was it? He knew all his brothers and sisters. All of them... but this girl who was at the temple all those years ago- she had something shockingly similar to her mother's eyes, as well as the sight that few had within them. He could feel her eyes searching him- testing him. He did not mind- he had nothing to hide.

Soon, the thoughts were too much and too confusing. Best not to think anymore, for the moment. His head was beginning to feel as if it were at the nearby smithy, the hammer slamming down on it with crushing force that only steel could handle. He simply leaned against a nearby wall and closed his eyes, taking command of his breathing and hoping to take command of himself once again.

There was no peace in dwelling on the past... was there?

Slifer woke up as much as one in his state can. He crawled across the polished floor, leaving a snail like trail behind him of blood. He kept crawling forward, until he found what seemed like a large room. More like a hall. Of course, it was empty. Groaning loudly the sound echoed throughout the hall. He then stopped moving for a while, to catch his breath

*He nodded* I know where we need to go, though how to get there, I don't know..*laughs at his little rhyme* Anyway, I met this soothsayer of sorts, and she clued me in on where I should go, and she told me this location: Vil'Jiar Jungle. I can't say I have a clue where that is, and I doubt many people do. I mean, this relic has been lost for a long time. Well, we have that bit of information, so, do you know of any deep jungles? I can't say which side of the continent it is on, so we may have to cross through the other side of Laburnum. *He frowned at the thought, knowing how unreceptive some Westerners were.* Well, suggestions?
